نامرئی
نامرئی داستان انسانهایی است که دیده نمیشوند. انگار همهی آنها بسیار تنها و خستهاند و تا زمانی که خودت نامرئی نشوی آنها را نخواهی دید.
ایزابل و خانوادهاش از یک زندگی عادی محروم بودند و نمیتوانستند خیلی چیزها بخرند، همان چیزهایی که داشتنشان برای خیلیها عادی بود. آنها حتی توان خرید یک بخاری نداشتند. شوربختانه، پس از مدتی، او و خانوادهاش مجبور میشوند خانهی پر از خاطرههای شیرین خود را رها کنند و به دورترین جای شهر بروند. روزبهروز، مشکلات آنها بیشتر میشود و ایزابل غمگین و تنهاتر. این نخستینبار بود که هیچچیز حال او را بهتر نمیکرد. او کمکم احساس میکرد دیگر کسی او را نمیبیند و در حال نامرئی شدن است. پس از نامرئی شدن، ایزابل چیزهایی را میبیند که قبلا به آنها توجه نداشت، دیگر آدمهای نامرئی. آنها خیلی زیاد بودند. اکنون ایزابل به همراه دیگر نامرئیها میتواند کارهای بزرگی کند…

He grew up in a remote and beautiful part of South Shropshire. On reflection this seemed rather more remote than beautiful, owing to the fact that he lived in a small caravan without electricity, mains water or any sensible form of heating. He thinks that he’s probably one of the few people in his peer group to have learnt to read by gas lamp.

Tom now lives in an actual house with his girlfriend and their two young sons.
His favourite colour is turquoise and his favourite number is usually seven.

به خودم قول دادم هرکتابی که تموم میکنم، تا فاصلهی کتاب بعدی، یه کار کودک بذارم... دلیلشم خیلی واضح نیست؛ صرفا انگار باعث میشه با یه بخشی از وجود ارتباط برقرار کنم.
کتاب نامرئی هم جالب بود؛ ادبیات کودک داره به جاهای خوبی میره واقعا پر دغدغه تر از قبل. این کتاب راجع به تغییر و سازگاری صحبت میکنه.
تصویرسازیشم که نگم واقعا :) یه ستاره به خاطر تصویر پردازی خوبش :"))

چقدر کتابهای کودک خوبن واقعاً.
تصویرسازیهای زیبا و دلنشین.
پر از احساس و معنا و مفهوم.
و جوری که سعی کردن این احساسات و مفاهیم رو ساده و پوشیده شده در لایهی داستان به بچهها منتقل کنن.
حالا دارم فکر میکنم به عنوان آدمی که از تو رحم مادر هم کتاب میخونده/براش میخوندن، احتمالاً بخش بزرگی از شخصیت فعلیم رو به طور ناخودآگاه مدیون همون کتابهای کودکی هستم.

If you only purchase one children’s book this year, make it this one. The story contains a life lesson every child should learn. It is the tale of how a young child whose family is very poor and has lost their home, notices that because she now lives on a council estate no-one sees her as a person anymore. It is also the tale of one young girl realising that something needs to change because everyone is worthy and vital not just those with money.
The book begins with little Isabel living in her family home with her mum, dad, and dog. The family didn’t have much, but they had their home and each other until they could no longer pay their bills and they were moved to a high-rise block of flats on the other side of town. It is here that Isabel feels she is fading into the background, that is until she notices other people who are fading too and decides she needs to make them vibrant again.
A couple of years before I was born my parents (and siblings) were in a house fire. They lost everything and my mother had not paid that week’s house insurance as she hadn’t managed to get to the bank the day it was due, which happened to be the same night as the house fire and so the insurance refused to payout.
They were put into council housing. For a time they had nothing, they sat on paint pots used as chairs, etc. I was quite lucky that by the time I was born they were still in council housing but they had enough to see us girls right. However, my dad used to tell me ‘never let anyone look down their nose at you and never look down your nose at anyone else. No-one is above you and no-one is below you, we all deserve to be treated equally.
This is a motto I’ve used throughout my entire life and I’ve taught my children the same. Just because someone can’t afford something you have doesn’t make them less of a person and just because someone has a mansion and untold wealth doesn’t make them any better than you are.
Author Tom Percival has created a beautiful, poignant book that I feel emphasises these points well, as well as showing that sometimes it is the little things you do that can create a difference and that by coming together we can create a big difference. The people in the story might not have increased their monetary wealth but they increased their happiness and people deserve to be happy.
The writing is perfect and the illustrations are so beautiful, with their soft colours and heart-felt emotions on the characters. I truly loved this book. It is a wonderful children’s picture book that contains a powerful message that comes across strongly.

Στην Ίζομπελ αρέσει να παρατηρεί την ομορφιά γύρω της. Έξω χιονίζει και είναι όλα λευκά, όμως η Ίζομπελ δεν μπορεί να αποφύγει το κρύο γιατί η οικογένειά της δεν έχει τη δυνατότητα για θέρμανση. Δυσκολεύονται οικονομικά κι έτσι δεν μπορούν να απολαύσουν πράγματα που για κάποιους είναι δεδομένα. Το μικρό κορίτσι δεν στεναχωριέται. Άλλωστε έχουν όλα όσα χρειάζονται, γιατί έχουν ο ένας τον άλλον.
Όταν όμως μια μέρα πρέπει να μετακομίσουν γιατί φτάνουν τα χρήματα για το ενοίκιο, η Ίζομπελ βρίσκεται στην άκρη της πόλης σε μια γειτονιά γκρίζα. Δεν βρίσκει κάτι να την ευχαριστεί, κάτι που να την κάνει να χαμογελά. Κανείς δεν της δίνει σημασία, κανείς δεν την βλέπει. Η Ίζομπελ γίνεται αόρατη.
Ένα τρυφερό και βαθιά συγκινητικό βιβλίο. Πώς βιώνει ένα παιδί τη φτώχια; Πώς νιώθει ένα παιδί που δεν έχει τις ίδιες ευκαιρίες, τις ίδιες ανέσεις στη ζωή με άλλα παιδιά;
Πολύ σημαντικό το θέμα με το οποίο καταπιάστηκε ο Tom Percival. Το να αισθάνεται κάποιος πως είναι αόρατος και πως δεν ανήκει πουθενά είναι ένα πολύ βαρύ συναίσθημα για όλους τους ανθρώπους πόσο μάλλον για τα παιδιά που έχουν μια έμφυτη χαρά και αισιοδοξία.
Όταν συμβαίνει αυτό τι κάνεις τελικά; Παραμένεις αόρατος και σταδιακά εξαφανίζεσαι ή προσπαθείς να αλλάξεις τον κόσμο; Δεν είναι εύκολο όταν είσαι παιδί να αλλάξεις τον κόσμο. Δεν είναι εύκολο ούτε κι όταν είσαι μεγάλος. Αν όμως μπορέσεις κάτι να κάνεις για έναν άνθρωπο κι έπειτα εκείνος να κάνει κάτι για κάποιον άλλον, ίσως αυτή η αλυσίδα να κάνει τη διαφορά τελικά. Στην αρχή να αλλάξει ο δρόμος, έπειτα η γειτονιά, η πόλη και πάει λέγοντας.
Η Ίζομπελ είναι γεμάτη καλοσύνη. Ξαφνικά όταν συνειδητοποιεί πως και άλλοι άνθρωποι είναι αόρατοι σαν κι εκείνη, παίρνει την κατάσταση στα χέρια της. Αρχίζει να βοηθά. Φυτεύει λουλούδια, ταΐζει αδέσποτα, επισκευάζει πράγματα. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο τα αόρατα γίνονται ορατά γιατί είναι όμορφα.
Ο κόσμος συνήθως δεν κοιτά την ασχήμια, την αποφεύγει. Δεν κοιτά την φτώχια, γυρίζει το βλέμμα του αλλού. Η μικρή Ίζομπελ όμως, μας διδάσκει να κοιτάμε και να βλέπουμε. Και είναι σίγουρο πως θα ανακαλύψουμε μια συγκινητική ομορφιά σε ανθρώπους που αισθάνονται αόρατοι αλλά που είναι ικανοί να κάνουν σπουδαία ορατά πράγματα.
Οι εικόνες είναι πραγματικά υπέροχες! Μουντά χρώματα όσο η Ίζομπελ αισθάνεται μόνη και αόρατη και έντονα όταν αισθάνεται την αλλαγή μέσα της αλλά και στον κόσμο γύρω της.
Είναι ένα βιβλίο που καλό θα ήταν να διαβαστεί από όλα τα παιδιά. Θα τα αφυπνίσει και θα τα βοηθήσει να διακρίνουν τα αόρατα παιδιά. Ας μην ξεχνάμε πως κάποιοι άνθρωποι είναι αόρατοι όχι μόνο λόγω φτώχειας. Ας βοηθήσουμε τα παιδιά μας να χρωματίσουν τον κόσμο με έντονα λαμπερά χρώματα. Ένα μικρό πινέλο να κρατά ο καθένας και όλα θα αλλάξουν. Σιγά – σιγά, αλλά θα αλλάξουν.

Όλοι εμείς οι ορατοί, που γράφουμε και διαβάζουμε και σχολιάζουμε και ζούμε, ξεχνάμε πως υπάρχουν γύρω μας, συχνά δίπλα μας, άνθρωποι αόρατοι. Αόρατοι είτε γιατί είναι φτωχοί είτε για άλλους λόγους, που οδηγούν στο να μην τους βλέπουμε ή να κάνουμε ότι δεν τους βλέπουμε. Ο συγγραφέας και εικονογράφος Tom Percival ήταν κάποτε ένα παιδί αόρατο, γιατί μεγάλωσε σε μια φτωχή οικογένεια. Σε ένα ετοιμόρροπο τροχόσπιτο, όπου τον χειμώνα πάγωνε κυριολεκτικά. Χωρίς ηλεκτρικό. Με βρώμικο νερό. Με ρούχα δανεικά και πολυφορεμένα. Όμως, μεγάλωσε με πολλή αγάπη και με πολλά βιβλία, χάρη σε μια κινητή δανειστική βιβλιοθήκη. Επίσης, μεγάλωσε μέσα στην ομορφιά και στη μαγεία της εξοχής. Αυτά τα χρόνια οδήγησαν τον δημιουργό στη συγγραφή και τη ζωγραφική.Και για να αποτίσει φόρο τιμής στην παιδική του ηλικία και σε όλα τα παιδιά που ζουν μέσα στη φτώχια, με στερήσεις και κινδύνους και πόνο, αποφάσισε να γράψει την «Aόρατη».
Πρωταγωνιστεί η Ίζαμπελ, ένα μικρό κορίτσι, που αναγκάζεται να αφήσει το γεμάτο από χαρούμενες αναμνήσεις (αν και κρύο -παγωμένο κυριολεκτικά ώρες ώρες) σπίτι της και να μετακομίσει με την οικογένειά της στην άκρη της πόλης. Στο παλιό της σπίτι, παρά την παγωνιά, παρατηρούσε την ομορφιά έξω από το παράθυρό της και προσπαθούσε να μη στενοχωριέται για όσα δεν μπορούσε να έχει. Άλλωστε, η αγάπη των γονιών της και το σκυλάκι της ήταν όλα όσα χρειαζόταν.
Στο καινούργιο της σπίτι, όμως, απογοητεύεται, τουλάχιστον αρχικά. Στη μοναχική και θλιμμένη άκρη της πόλης δεν υπάρχει κάτι όμορφο, που θα την κάνει να νιώσει χαρά. Μέσα στο γκρίζο περιβάλλον της, αρχίζει αμέσως να νιώθει «αόρατη». Κανείς από τους «καλοστεκούμενους» συνανθρώπους της δεν την προσέχει. Η Ιζαμπέλ ξεθωριάζει. Εξαϋλώνεται. Γίνεται διάφανη.
Τότε, όμως, παρατηρεί πως δεν είναι η μόνη που δεν φαίνεται. Πολλοί άνθρωποι γύρω της, εκεί, στην άκρη της πόλης, είναι αόρατοι. Και τόσο μόνοι. Έτσι, αποφασίζει να τους βοηθήσει. Η προσπάθειά της αποδίδει σχεδόν αμέσως και βρίσκονται κι άλλοι κι άλλοι κι άλλοι που βοηθούν ο ένας τον άλλον. Μέρα με τη μέρα, χάρη στην αλληλεγγύη, η μουντή και γκρίζα άκρη της πόλης αποκτάει όλο και περισσότερα χρώμ��τα. Και οι άνθρωποί της γίνονται όλο και περισσότερο ορατοί. Αποκτούν ξανά θωριά, περίγραμμα, σώμα, χρώματα. Η Ιζαμπέλ έχει καταφέρει το πιο δύσκολο πράγμα.Έκανε τη διαφορά που άλλαξε τα πάντα. Έκανε ορατό τον κάθε αόρατο συνάνθρωπό της.
Μέσα από αυτό το αλληγορικό εικονοβιβλίο, ο Tom Percival ρίχνει με τις λέξεις και τα χρώματά του (είναι απίστευτο το πώς καταφέρνει να κάνει τον αναγνώστη να κρυώσει, να πονέσει, να εξαφανιστεί) φως σε όσους συνυπάρχουν ανάμεσά μας και αισθάνονται «αόρατοι», αναδεικνύοντας με τρυφερότητα τη σημασία του να αντιλαμβανόμαστε την αλήθεια γύρω μας. Το βιβλίο αυτό καταρχάς δείχνει σε κάθε παιδί και ενήλικο ότι ανεξάρτητα από την οικονομική κατάσταση της οικογένειάς του μπορεί και πρέπει να διεκδικεί το δικαίωμά του στην ευτυχία και στην ομορφιά, πάντα με τη συνεργασία και την αγάπη των γύρω του.
Κι έπειτα υπενθυμίζει στους ορατούς πως δεν πρέπει να επιτρέψουν να παραμείνει κανείς αόρατος, πόσω μάλλον ένα παιδί. Αν γυρνώ το βλέμμα μου αλλού σαν έρχομαι αντιμέτωπη με τη φτώχια, αν ποτέ δεν φτάνω μέχρι την άκρη της πόλης, εκεί όπου βασιλεύει το γκρίζο χρώμα κι ο καθένας παλεύει μόνος του να επιβιώσει, αν αγνοώ τις κοινωνικές ανισότητες και τα καταπατημένα δικαιώματα μιας μεγάλης μερίδας ανθρώπων, τότε έχω ευθύνη. Τεράστια ευθύνη. Εγώ είμαι η αόρατη για εκείνους που περιμένουν να με κοιτάξουν και να τους κοιτάξω και να δώσουμε τα χέρια για να παλέψουμε μαζί για έναν πιο δίκαιο κόσμο. Για έναν κόσμο συμπεριληπτικό, στον οποίον ανήκουμε όλοι, ανεξάρτητα από το πού και το πότε έτυχε να γεννηθούμε. Αφήστε που τίποτα δεν είναι κεκτημένο, τίποτα δεν είναι δεδομένο. Πόσοι άνθρωποι, άθελά τους, δε βρέθηκαν από τη μια στιγμή στην άλλη να είναι αόρατοι, έπειτα από χρόνια (συχνά προκλητικής) ορατότητας;
Μάθημα ζωής δίνει ο δημιουργός. Σε όλους μας. Χωρίς διδακτισμό. Απλώς με ειλικρίνεια. Και το πετυχαίνει άριστα, γιατί γράφει ένα βιβλίο βιωματικό. Μοιράζεται μαζί μας αναμνήσεις μιας αλήθειας που δεν θέλει να ξεχάσει. Γιατί τον διαμόρφωσε σε αυτό που είναι σήμερα. Ο Percival κάπου, κάπως, βρήκε τη δύναμη να αλλάξει τον κόσμο. Ας τη βρούμε κι εμείς, ορμώμενοι από την «Αόρατη». Ας την κάνουμε όσο το δυνατόν πιο ορατή, διαβάζοντάς τη και χαρίζοντάς τη όπου μπορούμε!
Πρωταγωνιστεί η Ίζαμπελ, ένα μικρό κορίτσι, που αναγκάζεται να αφήσει το γεμάτο από χαρούμενες αναμνήσεις (αν και κρύο -παγωμένο κυριολεκτικά ώρες ώρες) σπίτι της και να μετακομίσει με την οικογένειά της στην άκρη της πόλης. Στο παλιό της σπίτι, παρά την παγωνιά, παρατηρούσε την ομορφιά έξω από το παράθυρό της και προσπαθούσε να μη στενοχωριέται για όσα δεν μπορούσε να έχει. Άλλωστε, η αγάπη των γονιών της και το σκυλάκι της ήταν όλα όσα χρειαζόταν.
Στο καινούργιο της σπίτι, όμως, απογοητεύεται, τουλάχιστον αρχικά. Στη μοναχική και θλιμμένη άκρη της πόλης δεν υπάρχει κάτι όμορφο, που θα την κάνει να νιώσει χαρά. Μέσα στο γκρίζο περιβάλλον της, αρχίζει αμέσως να νιώθει «αόρατη». Κανείς από τους «καλοστεκούμενους» συνανθρώπους της δεν την προσέχει. Η Ιζαμπέλ ξεθωριάζει. Εξαϋλώνεται. Γίνεται διάφανη.
Τότε, όμως, παρατηρεί πως δεν είναι η μόνη που δεν φαίνεται. Πολλοί άνθρωποι γύρω της, εκεί, στην άκρη της πόλης, είναι αόρατοι. Και τόσο μόνοι. Έτσι, αποφασίζει να τους βοηθήσει. Η προσπάθειά της αποδίδει σχεδόν αμέσως και βρίσκονται κι άλλοι κι άλλοι κι άλλοι που βοηθούν ο ένας τον άλλον. Μέρα με τη μέρα, χάρη στην αλληλεγγύη, η μουντή και γκρίζα άκρη της πόλης αποκτάει όλο και περισσότερα χρώμ��τα. Και οι άνθρωποί της γίνονται όλο και περισσότερο ορατοί. Αποκτούν ξανά θωριά, περίγραμμα, σώμα, χρώματα. Η Ιζαμπέλ έχει καταφέρει το πιο δύσκολο πράγμα.Έκανε τη διαφορά που άλλαξε τα πάντα. Έκανε ορατό τον κάθε αόρατο συνάνθρωπό της.
Μέσα από αυτό το αλληγορικό εικονοβιβλίο, ο Tom Percival ρίχνει με τις λέξεις και τα χρώματά του (είναι απίστευτο το πώς καταφέρνει να κάνει τον αναγνώστη να κρυώσει, να πονέσει, να εξαφανιστεί) φως σε όσους συνυπάρχουν ανάμεσά μας και αισθάνονται «αόρατοι», αναδεικνύοντας με τρυφερότητα τη σημασία του να αντιλαμβανόμαστε την αλήθεια γύρω μας. Το βιβλίο αυτό καταρχάς δείχνει σε κάθε παιδί και ενήλικο ότι ανεξάρτητα από την οικονομική κατάσταση της οικογένειάς του μπορεί και πρέπει να διεκδικεί το δικαίωμά του στην ευτυχία και στην ομορφιά, πάντα με τη συνεργασία και την αγάπη των γύρω του.
Κι έπειτα υπενθυμίζει στους ορατούς πως δεν πρέπει να επιτρέψουν να παραμείνει κανείς αόρατος, πόσω μάλλον ένα παιδί. Αν γυρνώ το βλέμμα μου αλλού σαν έρχομαι αντιμέτωπη με τη φτώχια, αν ποτέ δεν φτάνω μέχρι την άκρη της πόλης, εκεί όπου βασιλεύει το γκρίζο χρώμα κι ο καθένας παλεύει μόνος του να επιβιώσει, αν αγνοώ τις κοινωνικές ανισότητες και τα καταπατημένα δικαιώματα μιας μεγάλης μερίδας ανθρώπων, τότε έχω ευθύνη. Τεράστια ευθύνη. Εγώ είμαι η αόρατη για εκείνους που περιμένουν να με κοιτάξουν και να τους κοιτάξω και να δώσουμε τα χέρια για να παλέψουμε μαζί για έναν πιο δίκαιο κόσμο. Για έναν κόσμο συμπεριληπτικό, στον οποίον ανήκουμε όλοι, ανεξάρτητα από το πού και το πότε έτυχε να γεννηθούμε. Αφήστε που τίποτα δεν είναι κεκτημένο, τίποτα δεν είναι δεδομένο. Une lecture très émouvante et tellement belle, il est rare de voir des albums jeunesses qui évoquent ainsi la pauvreté, les différences sociales et l'entraide.
Le tout mis en beauté par les dessins de Tom Percival. Nous apprenons aussi que l'auteur a vécu cette situation, plus qu'un récit, un vrai témoignage à transmettre.

in the past month i’ve read this children’s book over five times, mainly for uni interviews but also because its incredible. it’s powerful and emotional but still a great read for children of all ages, and adults. the artwork is stunning too.

Wonderful illustrations to go with a sensitive story. Haven't read it to my 4 year olds yet, not sure if they are ready for this. The story moved me, the adult, though. Gave me a few things to think about.

I love this book, but I do think it could have been pushed a little further. It's such a great concept that it feels like it needs to be slightly longer.
I love the art, the colours especially and how they change with the child's feelings and circumstances.

This is such a stunning book that explains to children how poverty can affect people’s lives. The book holds an extremely powerful message and reminds us of the big difference we can all make from small acts of kindness. A must have!

Το βιβλίο ξεκινά με τη μικρή Isabel, στο οικογενειακό της σπίτι με τους γονείς της και τον σκύλο της. Η οικογένεια ζούσε λιτά χωρίς ανέσεις και υπερβολές, σε ένα σπίτι που έσφυζε από αγάπη, ένα σπίτι όπυ είχαν ο ένας τον άλλον, μέχρι που δεν μπορούσαν πλέον να πληρώσουν τους λογαριασμούς και το νοίκι τους τους και μεταφέρθηκαν σε μια πολυκατοικία στην άλλη άκρη της πόλης. Η Isabel αισθάνεται ότι ξεθωριάζει και μένει στο παρασκήνιο, παρατηρήσει και άλλους ανθρώπους που ξεθωριάζουν και αποφασίζει ότι πρέπει να τους ζωντανέψει ξανά.
Η ιστορία αποτελεί ένα μάθημα ζωής που κάθε παιδί πρέπει να μάθει. Ένα νεαρό κορίτσι συνειδητοποιεί ότι κάτι πρέπει να αλλάξει γιατί όλοι οι άνθρωποι αξίζουν, όχι μόνο όσοι έχουν χρήματα. Powerful little book that brings up issues in a gentle, emotionally-sensitive way. We used it in class to spark some thoughtful discussions about why people might feel invisible in this world. Some surprising answers! One child linked it to the poem Chameleon Kids.

This book floored me. Dead. I couldn't read it because I was crying so hard. It's a story we need in the world. It's a story about the importance of kindness and how it isn't money that matters, but the person you are. Poor little Isabel. I'd like to just give her a hug.

The Invisible is a picture book which deals with themes of poverty, exclusion, materialism, perception and prejudice, but also love, hope, agency and community. It seems at first a very bleak story and I found it very interesting as it challenged my ideas about books for young children. It follows Isabelle, whose family can’t afford to stay in their home and have to move to a new neighbourhood where Isabelle, finding herself on the edges of society, starts to feel invisible.
The writing in this book is sparse and lots of the illustrations are very muted where they reflect Isabelle’s unhappiness and the deprivation in her new neighbourhood. However, the overall messages are extremely positive and Isabelle’s character is uplifting, as are the final illustrations which gradually fill with colour as Isabelle creates change. Overall, I think this book would be a valuable resource particularly for sensitive work on empathy with children in EYFS and Year 1.

I don’t often give books 5 star ratings. Why? Because you need to save those 5 stars for the few occasions when you come across something truly special, like this.
This is the beautiful, poignant story of Isabel, who is growing up in poverty. As the family’s circumstances become more challenging, Isabel finds less and less to be positive about until she finds herself fading away. Once she has become invisible, she sees lots of other invisible people - those who society tends to overlook; the elderly, the homeless; the immigrant. When Isabel decides to do something positive for her community, others join in too, discovering that they have a place and together they can make a difference.
This book should be on every classroom shelf and is set to become a classic.

Dans cet album jeunesse de 2021, nous suivons la petite Isabelle et son chiot, qui habitent une maison où il fait froid, faute d'argent pour payer le chauffage. En fait, il y a beaucoup de choses que la famille d'Isabelle ne peut se permettre, comme le cinéma ou des vêtements neufs ou même... de rester dans leur maison. Car un jour, les parents d'Isabelle ne peuvent plus payer leur toit. Ils quittent alors ce quartier qu'ils aiment pour un logement modique, froid et triste. Dès lors, Isabelle , déjà bouleversée par le changement de quartier, a l'impression de disparaitre aux yeux des passants, indifférents, froids. Cependant, Isabelle prend conscience qu'elle n'est pas seule. Il y a des tas de gens invisibles, d'autres laissés pour compte. Certains plantent des fleurs dans des pots, d'autres réparent des vélos, d'autres nourrissent les oiseaux. Petit à petit, Isabelle s'intègre à cette communauté d'invisibles et peu à peu, elle tisse des liens. Des liens qui n'ont rien d'invisible.
Parmi les thèmes majeurs dont la pauvreté, la famille et la disparité de richesse , nous avons surtout le pouvoir d'agir collectif. L'implication auprès de la communauté est au coeur de cette histoire et le moyen est plutôt simple: s'intéresser aux autres.
Bon, si dans les faits les choses ne sont pas aussi faciles dans la vraie vie que dans cet album, la base est tout-de-même tout-à-fait louable. Cela montre aux plus jeunes que le changement passe par la conscience des autres autours de soi et que les gestes de rapprochement les plus simples sont aussi les plus efficaces. Après tout, l'humain est un animal grégaire, il est fait pour vivre en groupe. Dynamiser un quartier, socialiser et faire des activités collectives sont donc des comportements instinctifs, mais dans la société individualiste qu'est la nôtre, la course à la richesse clive la population et isole les moins favorisés. C'est un peu de tout ça dont il est question ici, mais bien sur, pas dans des termes aussi compliqués. Ici, c'est une petite fille qui a simplement voulu ne plus être "invisible" comme tant d'autre et qui, en tendant la mains à son prochain, a déclenché un processus d'unification dans son quartier.
J'adore l'apparence d'Isabelle. Je m'explique: elle n'est pas la typique petite caucasienne très féminine vêtue en rose ou en violet. Elle a une jolie frimousse exotique avec son teint chocolat et ses cheveux noirs, et elle porte un joli chandail vert avec une tuque grise typique des pays froids. Ça peut sembler bête de s'attarder sur ces éléments, mais son simple physique sort de l'ordinaire, merci bien à l'auteur.
D'ailleurs, dans l'album, nous avons des représentants de divers ethnies , de divers âges et de divers conditions, un portrait somme toute juste de la majorité des grandes villes, comme Montréal, Toronto ou les grandes villes États-Uniennes nordiques.
Les dessins sont mignons, mais le traitement des couleurs est très sobres, parfois grisonnant, pour s'accorder au ressenti d'Isabelle. Ce n'est donc pas l'album multicolore qu'on voit d'habitude, mais les pages finales sont plus colorées, une fois les rend "visibles".
C'est un bel album, sur un enjeu social réel et actuel, qui conviendrait aux enfants d'âge scolaire.

🌍 Quante volte avete cercato di fare la differenza in un mondo che vi remava contro? Questo è il fulcro della storia di "Invisibile" edito @nomosbambini dove Isabel, vive insieme alla sua famiglia nel modo più semplice possibile. Non hanno molto, ma si vogliono bene e hanno quello che serve per tirare avanti finché un giorno i soldi per pagare l'affitto e le bollette iniziano a mancare e sono costretti a lasciare la loro casa piena di ricordi felici per trasferirsi dall'altra parte della città.
😞 È qui che Isabel inizia a sentirsi invisibile. Diventa fredda, triste e sola, ignorata da un mondo che sembra non vederla, non curarsi di lei, come se non esistesse. Non riesce a vedersi tra le nuove vie, non apprezza piú le piccole cose, non vede chi vive intorno a lei, ma inizia ad incontrare altre persone invisibili. Solo aiutandole riuscirà ad empatizzare con loro, a capire il perché della loro situazione, ridando un tocco di speranza alla sua famiglia e al suo quartiere.
🧠 Lo stato mentale in cui si trova la piccola nella storia può essere ricondotto ad uno stato di solitudine. Tutto inizia con una sensazione di distacco e altri “sintomi” tra i quali:
- la sensazione di non sentirsi compresi e capiti dagli altri;
- l’idea di essere diversi, incompatibili con il resto del mondo;
- senso di disconnessione e ritiro sociale.
❤️ La differenza è che Isabel capisce che tutti ci meritiamo una seconda opportunità e la possibilità di trovare il nostro posto nel mondo. Le amicizie diventano importanti poiché gli amici sono una famiglia che è possibile scegliere, come Isabel sceglie di aiutare gli altri. L’autore è stato lui stesso un “Invisibile” e, con questo albo, ha deciso di raccontare a tutti che si può fare la differenza nel mondo, basta volerlo.

Le amicizie diventano importanti poiché gli amici sono una famiglia che è possibile scegliere, come Isabel sceglie di aiutare gli altri. L’autore è stato lui stesso un “Invisibile” e, con questo albo, ha deciso di raccontare a tutti che si può fare la differenza nel mondo, basta volerlo.

Summary
This book is about a young girl called Isabel along with her family and the community round her. There is a theme of poverty and homelessness in the book as Isabel’s family had to move out due to their inability to pay off bills. Isabel feels invisible during this story as she explores around her new home. She notices other invisible people and goes on around her community to make something very special. She makes a difference.
In the classroom this can be used not only to discuss sensitive themes such as homelessness, poverty, invisibility but also teach an important part of life; having hope and making a difference. Links can be made with PSHE on how our actions may affect other people. A community service project book could be made inspired by this book. In terms of Writing lessons, a letter from Isabel can be made to her friend, a diary entry or a newspaper article could show her journey. A report could be made on individuals on groups who may feel invisible such as homeless individuals, refugees and other marginalised communities.
I read this book whilst on placement to a class of Year 1 children. This book was part of a basket of books, specifically chosen by the English lead surrounding the themes of inclusivity, and sensitive topics. Despite its tone of poignancy, it carries a strong thread of hopefulness that I loved. The children responses positively to it and they, despite the difficult theme, were able to relate and it invoked a strong sense of empathy within them. A crucial skill to becoming emotionally mature.
Overall, a surprising but fantastic book for all ages, a strong recommendation on my end. 10/10
