Saving the Angel of Death Volume 1

He was the heaven of my life.
Then he disappeared and hell swallowed me.
Now, I lie alone in the dark sobbing from the infinite pain. My only mercy is that I can still whisper his name.
Killian…

MAGDALENA

In my life, I’ve had two obsessions.
Killian breathed love into me and I relished in the heavens of it, unaware that it would all disappear in the blink of an eye. When he vanished, forces as powerful as they were evil preyed on me, and snatched me into an unimaginable hell. I had to let go of Killian. The sweet memories had become too painful.

In hell, while molding me to be a submissive good slave, my trainer insisted I call him Sir. But in the midst of all the cruelty and humiliation, nothing shakes the feeling that there’s a connection between Sir and I. Maybe it was part of the mental torture or wishful thinking.

Did Sir love me after all?

Dear readers,
First of all, thank you so much for reading my book(s).
This is my pen name. I live in a rural part of the United States with a husband, our kid and a giant, goofy, crazy dog.

I worked in the sciences for about twenty years but writing dark romance/fiction was always my true calling.

Dark stories have occupied my mind since too young of an age. At first, I used to repress them or write them to throw them away but I slowly learned that wasn’t good for my mental health. Reading and writing dark stories is therapeutic for me. Writing them flushes the demons from my mind, and reading teaches me I’m not alone. I publish them because I know there are others like me, who need to explore the darkest corners of their minds. This does not mean in any way that I would ever approve or wish such dark events on anyone's life, on the contrary.

I know that it doesn't make sense to some, but dark romance and horror are healing to many survivors and I hope with all my heart to help at least some readers heal with my stories. I also hope I can educate through the stories I tell.

I really love getting feedback from readers. The positive reviews makes me smile, the constructive negative reviews help me learn, so please don't be shy. It’s really hard out here for a rookie Indie author so please take three minutes to leave me a review on Amazon and Goodreads, even if it’s just an emoji.

Thank you very much for your help and support.

This book completely sucked me in; it's been a while since I read one in a single sitting, and I had to be reminded to eat. On my dark scale, it is pitch black.

This story starts with two young children, Magdalena and Killian; told over several years, their love is tender. But darkness falls, and the sweetness turns into tragedy, becoming the monster you fear.

Magdalena’s journey is not for the faint of heart. This book will forever be rent-free in my mind, especially the candle scene.

Sky Blu has definitely become a one-click author for me. She doesn't just tell a story—she writes deep within, refusing to shy away from the details. You feel every emotion. My heart is bleeding, and my mind is completely questioning everything, leaving me with a book hangover. The author's words flow effortlessly from page to page. Not created for shock value. This is what I want and expect.

The ending is a doozy and I can't wait for the next book. If you’re looking for a pitch black book, this is for you.

Intense, disorienting, and pitch-black, this book pulled me in like a black hole and didn’t let go. I felt trapped in its gravity. Magdalena’s trauma is depicted in brutal, unflinching detail. Emotionally exhausting yet impossible to look away from. I lived for the moments she seized the opportunity to fight back and unleash pure chaos. Her dark, unhinged humor and burning rage were the highlights.

The story begins in the past, with a young Magdalena starting a new school and becoming captivated by Killian, the outcast. Their bond feels fated, until tragedy rips them apart and Killian vanishes, leaving Magdalena’s memories fragmented and haunting.

Fast-forward to prom night (which, as horror and books have taught us, is never a good idea). From that moment, everything spirals into darkness. Around 20% in, the story explodes into utter sickening madness.

Magdalena is thrust into a human trafficking ring, at a training center where her trainer, known only as Sir, works to break her down and mold her into the perfect submissive slave. Their dynamic and the psychological tension is suffocating, the trauma relentless, and the flickers of Stockholm syndrome disturbingly real. It is very questionable throughout what Sir’s true intentions are, whether he feels a connection to her or whether it’s all just a mind game.

Through it all, Magdalena clings to the hope of surviving and finding Killian. He is always either in her dreams or at the forefront of her broken mind. Brief flashbacks suggest something sinister had a hand in his fate. The book ends on a vicious cliffhanger, and the author hints at giving Killian’s POV in the next volume. I can’t imagine what fresh hell will come from Killian’s story, but I need it. I need answers.

*PLEASE mind all the triggers and warnings, and if you have ANY hesitations, this book is probably not for you.

Best try not to compare this to In Love with the Devil or else you’ll be feeling frustrated. I reread the first few chapters of that book, and yeah. Saving the Angel of Death is not the simple story of a doctor who stalks/kidnaps/brainwashes/sets free to save the day the love of his life.

This took about 150 pages of set-up. The set-up and the chapters with school, high school and university, are the only true happy and safe moments. I also loved the glimpses of mom and dad. I also expect more feisty heroine in the second book, I really need her to get her groove back and go S.T. Abbey Mindf**k on folks. And I will need a really good accounting for the hero’s choices and decisions because why he do ALL that if the cliffhanger was an option all along?

There is a lot happening in this book. I will reserve judgment because a lot will be riding on book 2 to see how it all pans out. I will need MORE of the hero, and less other men. Their relationship will also need to progress but also deal with the aftermath of book one.

I read it in one sitting. The cliffhanger is good because it resolved one of the major issues in the story for me. The first being, there is just WAY too much stuff done to our feisty heroine that is not done by the hero. I’ve always been intrigued by sharing etc. but this is certainly my limit. There’s a reason I don’t read some “romance” authors like Ellie Sanders’ Deviant.

This was giving Jay Marie’s Survival, at the light end, but the explicit r***s that she goes through are too much for me. It wasn’t just the explicitness, but the length, and it reads as pure smut but it’s not enjoyable, since it’s not CNC.

I am also NOT a fan of “training storylines” when they are regimented like this, with an underground system of buyers and sellers.

However, if you do enjoy these storylines and also don’t shy away with- it’s not even romance but just brutal things happening because it’s not the hero lol-give this a read.

Also the author’s note at the end 😂 The Michaelson family is one twisted series, and that is so on brand and I love it for them.

PS this is driving me crazy. Did the author retcon the heroine’s dad to have an abusive childhood? I swear that his whole thing was that he had a normal childhood in the previous book. I could be mistaken. I read it once when I was still sick, so I will try to reread it again to see.

Oct. 20, 2025 update:

4 MORE DAYS!!

The Amazon listing has been updated. This is a duet and Sky Blu has organized the duet and her previous knockout novel, In Love with the Devil, as part of the Michaelson Family... I am *so* curious. The good news too is also that the second novel has a Feb 2026 release date.

This was a wild ride and the first book of the violent destiny of Magdalena's life when she is stolen from her family and put into a sex-trafficking ring. Trained by Sir, who plays mental games with her in order to turn her into a perfect toy for the highest bidder. In their session she starts to feel loved but is it all just a trick to confuse and disarm her?

She grew up with Killian, her childhood love who she marries in a pretend wedding, when one day he disappears with out a trace. Missing him and searching for him her entire years as an adolescence, she fall into the claws of a groupe of young men, when she goes on a date with a boy she thinks she knows.

But Maggie is one tough cookie. Not only does she have survivors instinct, she likes to fight and cut people. Blood and gore does something to her🩸

I, the fool I am didn't realise that Magdalena is Julian and Astroia's daughter - our MC's from In Love with the Devil. But there ya go, just so you don't have to figure it out mid book. I should have read the extra chapters for In Love with the Devil, before I started this ARC, then I would have known. So maybe do that first :)

This is volume 1 in Saving the Angle of Death and I am very much looking forward to book two beginning of 2026, to find out what happens next! And trust me Sky does not hold back with the horror and crazy s-scenes. There's a candle scene that might make your brain spiral. Just saying...

Lots of triggers, lots of scenes that might shock you. So please know what you are getting into before you start reading it. You should defiantly not read it if you are not into Erotic Horror.

Ok, well, Ermm…you might need a minute after reading this 🤭 If you read In Love with the Devil you will know how dark Sky can go however, believe me you don’t. This story teeters on the edge of an abyss, throws you in and puts you on the fastest spin cycle. If you have any, any triggers at all do ensure you read those before partaking…that sole obligation lands on your own shoulders!

Magdalena, is a force to be reckoned with, her own dark secret lies within a pit of its own. The beginning of her younger life, her and her new found friendship with Killian is heart warming until one fateful day, her world is tilted BUT that’s just the start of her obsidian journey. An evening out proves just how much you can push a person to unravel their darkness. Unfortunately, her life goes from bad to the worst that you could never imagine happening to a person. I am being specifically evasive here, because I don’t want to give anything away and it is not a read to be taken lightly 🤯

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱—

Sky’s story telling is very powerful, I knew this going in and put aside a day to read it one sitting, simply because I knew if I had to put it down it would have tormented me. Her descriptive narrative ensures you feel everything our FMC goes through, the emotions it provokes, the heart stopping moments and I can’t express enough how it is yet another book that will live in my head due to how the story integrates itself there and festers. It does end on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read Killian’s POV. Once, more if you do have any qualms about the pitchness of this book, do read the triggers‼️

ok so i read this book bc i lovedd in love with the devil and it’s safe to say that they r very different. like im pretty sure the best parts of the book imo were just the astoria and julian parts. everything else what?? like it was all okay until killian like left or whatever? like is he even the mmc? he’s mentioned literally all throughout the book and he was only there for like two chapters. i saw a review where someone was like killian and magdalena were there fav couple of the year..but where was the couple moments even?? and then this was just so gruesome like okay so in the tropes it says love triangle and second chance romance and stuff like that? but also labeled not a dark romance and gothic horror. like okay yeah in my opinion there was absolutely no romance no love triangle. and what second chance..??? okay and then the whole thing with mael. i’m pretty sure i skimmed a lot of the book bcs some scenes were just. also maggie calling julian daddy when he literally forced astoria to call him that is verry comical. okay and then the supposed romance with the sir…see i was waiting for killian to come or at least something, but alas nothing. so anyways im pretty sure sir is killian cus in the end it says one eye is greener than the other which hints at colored contacts??? maybe but even if he was absolutely nottttt. like okay like u were there when mael and everyone sa’d her?? like that’s unacceptable. so if sir was killian then automatically he’s a horrible mmc. so hopefullly he’s not? anyways safe to say i didn’t love the book. i mean it was written good i just didn’t love it. like how is killian even part of the summary and everything like when he’s not even in the book. (if he isn’t sir which i hope he’s not). ok anyway ALSO in the author note it mentions a book between ashton and ember 😭. the twins. like okay i mean yes i know the taboo genre i knowww but does it really have to be julian and astoria’s children 😭😭. okay so i was definitely anticipating this read but obviously it was let down for me.

Omg!!! I need part 2 after that cliffhanger. Sky done it again with this one for sure. There is so much that goes on in this story and so much trauma. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and where is Killian. What happened to him and the way it ended like omg. There are so many different twists and the way this book is written it keeps you on the edge of your seat feeling all the feels. One minute you’re mad and the next your heart is breaking. I have done nothing but talk about this book with my friends and family since I started reading it. I would give it more than 5 stars if it was possible. If you want dark, twisted and have you feeling everything then definitely give this a read. Like always read those tw before proceeding 🖤

3.5-4.

I think initially I wanted to rate this higher. I am looking forward to reading book 2. The FMC has no reprieve and I felt truly disgusted throughout most of the book. But it was the feeling I think we all felt.

I am confused on quite a few points but I know the author mentioned it coming more together in book 2.

My review will most likely change and I’ll be able to add more to this one but I need book 2 first.

Dark, Intense, and Unforgettable

Saving the Angel of Death by Sky Blu is a hauntingly beautiful VERY dark romance that sinks its claws into you from the very first page. The story is a perfect mix of danger, desire, and redemption, filled with raw emotion and characters who are as damaged as they are irresistible. Sky Blu created a world that’s both brutal and breathtaking, where love blooms in the shadows and every choice has consequences. She had me screaming, wanting to pull my hair at what was happening and then feeling like I can redeem the characters after what they went through and what they did to make it right.

The chemistry between the 2 main leads is electric, painful, passionate, and impossible to look away from. And just when you think you can breathe, that ending hits hard. A jaw dropping cliffhanger that leaves your heart racing and your mind spinning. I’m still wondering “what the heck did I just read?”. I have a theory. But now having to wait until February 2026 for the next book feels almost cruel because this story is addictive in the best possible way. An absolute must read for dark gothic/horror/erotica romance lovers who crave intensity, emotion, and a story that stays with you long after the last page.

Check the trigger warning. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. MUST READ. Xo

I won't be forgetting this book anytime soon. 😵‍💫

I got to Beta and ARC read Saving the Angel of Death, and this book crawled under my skin in the way only a story drenched in truth, torment, and gothic beauty can.

This isn’t your typical dark romance, me personally I wouldn't even put this in romance. It’s what I’d call extreme gothic horror erotica with romantic moments laced with tragedy and written like a fever dream. It’s brutal, unflinching, and devastatingly poetic. Sky doesn’t just tell a story, she exorcises it from the page. Every word bleeds, every scene feels carved from anguish and devotion.

This book is pitch-black darkness. If you thought In Love With the Devil was dark, this one drags you even deeper into the quiet rot of faith, trauma, and survival. It’s not comforting, not forgiving, and it’s definitely not romantic in the traditional sense. There are no tidy redemptions here, only shards of hope you clutch to keep from falling apart.

Through Magdalene's descent, you feel the claustrophobic horror of being a woman in a world where your body and mind are never fully your own. Her pain feels holy and haunted at once something sacred and profane, like a prayer whispered through bloodied lips. There’s one scene in particular a birthday scene (iykyk) that has permanently branded itself into my memory.

There are moments while reading where it feels like your mind fractures you’re not sure what’s real and what’s imagined, what’s memory and what’s madness. The story twists your perception just like it twists Magdalene’s, and you start to question everything alongside her. That disorientation becomes part of the experience it’s haunting, dizzying, and deeply intentional.

The writing has a rhythm that borders on gothic poetry lyrical, haunting, and heavy with religious symbolism. Sky writes like someone who has looked the abyss in the eye and decided to write it a love letter.

I'm more than ready for book two of this duet and I have a feeling book two will offer us something softer, or at least the illusion of it. Yes, this book left me with questions but I don't mind holding on for answers in book two. Until then, this book stands as an unrelenting, heartbreaking descent into darkness and a masterpiece of emotional ruin.

*I received this ARC from the author, all thoughts and opinions are my own.*

Killian and Magdalena start with the kind of connection you swear is destined for a fairytale… until the unthinkable hits.

Magdalena is the definition of a fighter. She's smart, stubborn, fiery to her core and the amount of trauma she endures in this story is staggering. Yet she never stops pushing forward. She never stops burning.

The tie-ins to Book One? Absolutely flawless. The Slaughtered Firefly Easter eggs? Chef’s kiss, I'm obsessed. They added a layer of intrigue that made the world feel bigger and even more dangerous.

This book is brutal, beautiful, broken, and gritty. It reaches in, grabs your soul by the throat, and refuses to let you look away. By the time you hit the ending, you’re already begging for Volume 2.

Five feral stars.

Five “I need therapy and also the next book NOW” stars.

(Maybe 3.5⭐️ ) First off, a huge thank you to Sky Blu for selecting me to ARC read this book. 🖤 💙

Before anything: please check the trigger warnings. This isn’t a cute romance, and it’s not even a typical dark romance, it’s erotic horror. It’s raw, disturbing, and deeply traumatic. There’s nothing romantic about it, but one thing about Sky-even in the most horrific moments, the intensity and emotion in the spice never falter.

Now onto the story. This is just a me thing, but I always get an ick when authors write child perspectives that sound too mature or overly sophisticated, it just pulls me out of the story a bit.

As for the plot honestly… I’m frustrated. I have so many unanswered questions. The timeline jumped around, and I couldn’t tell how long Magdalena was in captivity maybe that was the point but as the reader I need answers… Sir’s character completely shifted with no clear reason. He disappears, reappears, and I still don’t understand his motive. What happened to Summer and the other girl? Her parents?

In the nicest way possible… it felt rushed and messy. The bones of the story are strong and unique, but the execution left too many gaps for me to feel satisfied.

However I still couldn’t put it down I felt like I was going insane right next to Magdalena wondering WTH was happening..Magdalena is one tough girl. The amount she endures and still keeps fighting is jaw-dropping.

This book is dark and disturbing but it will absolutely make you feel something.

I’ll still be picking up book two, hoping it fills in the holes and gives us the clarity this story needs.

This is a pitch black romance, so be sure to check the trigger warnings before you dive into this one.

Magdalena falls in love with a dark and quiet boy at a very young age. Thinking that they will be together forever, her life is thrown off track when he mysteriously disappears. As she begins to come of age, Maggie continues to search for him in the hopes of finding the boy she still loves.

When fate steps in and destroys her life, she is captured by a human trafficking ring where they break and train her in preparation for selling her to the highest bidder. As Magdalena finds herself drawn to her trainer, she cant decide if it is just Stockholm syndrome or if they share a real connection.

Magdalena has a deep inner darkness that we see glimpses of throughout the book. As she continues to experience and survive several traumatic events in her life, she slowly loses her sanity and the mask she wears to cover the darkness she harbors continues to slip more and more.

This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen to poor Maggie next! Every time it seemed that things might get better for her the story takes a turn and she finds herself suffering again.

The cliffhanger was pretty rough. I did pretty well figure out one of the plot twists pretty early on, but that didn't really take away from the book because I wasn't sure that I was correct until right at the end.

If you are into pitch black romance full of DARK trauma, deranged characters, group non-con scenes, and a FMC that just won't die or give up, then you should definitely check out Saving the Angel of Death. The second book is releasing in March so we don't have long to wait to see how this all plays out.

“The love of my life was in my past, not in my present or future. It had to be enough. Some people were never loved; at least I was once upon a time. Even if I couldn’t remember the details of it, it had to be enough.”

1st- ♾️⭐️
2cd- Sweet baby Jesus
3rd- Holy cliffhanger…Sky I’m staring at a wall wondering where I go from here.

This story is not for the faint of heart. Magdalena and Killian are childhood sweethearts. Then one day he stops coming to school. Maggie is devastated but things get so much worse for her. She is a fighter after all. Especially when you realize who her parents are. This story is so beautifully tragic in the way only Sky can do. Be prepared to loathe the men in this story and cheer on the FMC. I am truly at a loss for words trying to write this review. If you enjoyed In love with the Devil this book is a must for you. If you enjoy dark depraved stories that make you ask how much more can this character take, this is for you. If you like an FMC who is relentless and fights until she can’t anymore only to fight back again this is for you. The only issue I have is I have to wait until March 2026. This cliffhanger is a Fn doozie!! If that didn’t convince you here is another expert between the MCs.

chefs kiss 🤌🏽 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I went into Saving the Angel of Death by Sky Blu thinking I’d read a few chapters and behave like a responsible adult… secretly waiting for the next book to come out so I could binge them both in one go. That plan lasted all of ten minutes after reading the first page.

From start to finish I was clutching my pearls like an old lady in confession. Every time I thought the story might calm down, it absolutely did not. I thought I nothing could really shock me In a book…until I read Sky’s stories. At one point I seriously considered going outside to touch grass just to recover.

Sky knows exactly how to keep the dark and twisted going without adding a bunch of filler. It was really well written and sucks you in from the start.

By the time I finished, I felt like I should probably bathe in holy water… but instead I went and preordered Vol. 2 because this girl is hooked and I need more.

If you want a pitch black book that will have you literally on the edge of your seat, this is the one… or honestly, any of Sky Blu’s books.

This author does not hold back, so please check your triggers and don’t be that person who says you don’t have any only to get offended when you read pitch-black content.

You’ve been warned. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I received an ARC of Saving the Angel of Death and wanted to share my honest thoughts.

Right from the start, there’s a huge trigger warning and for good reason. I usually don’t pay much attention to those (I figure if something triggers me, it does), but this one definitely earns it. There are some heavy and twisted topics throughout, so definitely check those warnings first and protect your mental health.

Now, I’ve read darker books, but this one definitely sits near the top when it comes to its darkness. Magdalena is completely unhinged, a bit psychotic, and definitely missing a few screws which made the story both disturbing and fascinating at the same time.

The storyline kept me curious from start to finish. I honestly don’t know if a happy ending is even possible for her after everything that’s happened, but I’m eager to find out how it all plays out.

I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say this: if you enjoy dark, twisted, and slightly chaotic stories, this one’s worth reading.

If dark and twisted is your thing, this book will wreck you—in the best way

This book is pitch black—and I mean that literally. If you have any triggers, this one isn’t for the faint of heart. But if you can handle the dark… buckle up.
Our FMC Magdalena—God bless that woman. The trauma, the brutality, the sheer emotional wreckage she endures is gut-wrenching. There were moments I just sat there, staring at the wall, because what I had just read was that intense.

Sky Blu does not hold back. This story is raw, violent, emotional, and completely unhinged in the best way. And that cliffhanger… yeah, my jaw was on the floor.

I NEED BOOK 2!

Proof reading and research would have helped

Firstly I want to say I liked Sky Blu's first book, it was well written and compelling and for the most part believable so I was looking forward to reading this one. I love a good horror erotica and the premise of saving sounded interesting sadly the book itself was a let down. The 7 and then 10 year olds are talking and acting like 16 year olds which just took me right out of the story. As a mum I can tell you no child that age speaks like that, also not sure 10 year old boys actively demand their father's let them SA a 10 year old girl from their class while she's institutionalised. It just didn't make sense. Then we have the whole reveal that not just 10 year old Mael and his friends SA Magdelena at that time but also full grown men do so repeatedly for a year, now I'm not a doctor but having seen cases of child sa reported on the news Maggie would have needed intense surgical treatment at the very least and it would have affected her so much it wouldn't have gone unnoticed by her parents once she was returned to them and she wouldn't have had normal menses. There's suspension of belief and then there's complete ridiculousness. The writing was appalling too, words missing , sentences that made no sense e.g " My belly was thigh was now digging into the metal of the bed . " um what ?
So many like this or with words missing. Did no one beta or arc read this book ?
The whole thing with Maggie still clinging on to the thought of Killian to get her through her trauma 13 years later seemed bizarre.
Now to the rating, the 2 stars are because despite these things for the latter half of the book I was genuinely invested in what happened to Maggie. I was rooting for her and the cliffhanger is so annoying because I do want to know what happens to her so I guess I'll read the next one when it releases. It would have been a 3 star if not for the authors lack of geographical knowledge, Cambridge is not in London in fact it's 50 miles away. This could have been a 5 star book If it had been edited and the children written better

I really wanted to love this book but it fell flat for me. I still can't decide if I liked the FMC or not and that plays a huge role in liking the plot for me, with all that happens to her. It felt like this book dragged on with her waiting around for Killian. The fact that there was insta love with 10 year olds and then she pines for him for years and years is wild to me. Overall just a meh read for me.

I knew going into this book that there was a strong possibility it was going to destroy me, and it did. It’s one of those stories that you think about long after you’ve read the final word. Saving The Angel of Death is a dark, brutal story and I’m not going to lie, it messed with my mind. I got swept away so quickly in the story and all that happened. This is also book one in a duet. Read the trigger warnings before jumping in. It’s marketed as a Gothic Horror so be aware, it’s not a dark romance.

My stomach clenched and my lip curled reading what the FMC, Magdalena went through. I was confused by some of the storyline and timelines but trust the process and stay with it… if you can handle it. There is no romance, love or redemption in this book and I wanted to scream at Maggie at times to snap out it. The way she clung to Killian and her memories of him as a child, was sweet, intense, yet odd. - Trust the process - The mind-fuckery was beyond what I could have imagined along with the manipulation, trauma bonds and abuse. I literally tossed my Kindle at one point because I was so frustrated and angry and just… I don’t know, what.

In the end, the words and storytelling were a dark, tragic tale that I couldn’t get enough of. As mentioned before, this is a duet so it ends on a cliffhanger. A brutal one at that, because WTF was that!!! If you’ve made it this far into the story, you are aware of how brutal it can really be. This may be the darkest book I’ve read so far. That being said, it was SO GOOD!

This was an absolute mind trip, I felt like I was going crazy right along side Magdalene and I loved every second of it!

This is pitch black so absolutely check your trigger warnings, this is gothic, it’s full of trauma, and it will have you gripping the book for whatever happens next.

This story starts when Magdalene is 10 and she starts attending a new school, she isn’t normal by society standards, but I’ll let you read that for yourself. She meets Killian and immediately there is a connection with the two, she is his only friend and as the years go by it’s clear Killian is troubled. When something tragic happens, Magdalene finds herself institutionalized and that’s where her worst nightmares begin.

Sky Blu has absolutely done it again, I read this in one sitting because you literally couldn’t have pried it from my hands so I feel like that speaks for itself. I have so many thoughts and series and this book will keep you guessing.

Thank you so much to Sky Blu for the opportunity to read this pre-release in exchange for my honest review

I just finished the ARC, and honestly, I don’t even know what to say. Not in a bad way, it ends on a cliffhanger but more in a “what did I just read?” kind of way. Magdalena’s PTSD keeps her detached from reality for most of the story, and when she is present, she’s being tortured. The sheer amount of trauma she endures was exhausting to read at times. Part of me almost wished for her peace through death, especially since all she truly wanted was Killian.

Killian’s disappearance nearly drove me insane, but I’m hoping he shows up early in the next book. Overall, I did enjoy the story, but I was thrown off at times by the transitions it wasn’t always clear when we were in the institution, in reality, or inside her dreams.

That was the most intense traumatic book I have ever read! I literally could not put it down.
If you can handle it (which I can) read this!
Static white this goes way beyond pitch black. Magdalena suffered the most horrific atrocities. The fact that these kinds of things really happen are incomprehensible. Thank you Sky for having the courage to write about them. I cannot wait for the next book & I only pray I get to see her get her revenge on this sadistic world and all of those Mother F’rs who tried to destroy her. 10/10

I just finished the ARC and I’m giving my honest thoughts -

Probably one of the wildest craziest confusing books I’ve ever read. Cliffhanger is cliffing!!! I feel like I read a fever dream. I don’t know what’s real or what was imagined for this FMC. The moments of vengeance were amazing and relieving. I felt vindicated for her at times and hoping she’s dreaming in others. Took me a minute to see the correlations to In Love with the Devil. And it’s giving “what goes around comes around” but in a weird and horrible way. Wild. That’s the best word I can give this.

One of the only books I can say PLEASE read the trigger warnings, this book is pitch black, completely unhinged. Definitely not for everyone but I feel like these books heal something in me. With that being said, I am on the edge of my seat with the ending and have a very strong suspicion about who the MMC actually is 😅

⚠️ Warning!!! This book is a pitch-black gothic horror erotica - Please check TW/CW!!! ⚠️ I am not sure if there will be a HEA at the end of their story (book 2 is out early 2026).

Wow, I'm not even sure where to begin - I knew this book would be intense and super emotional, but 🤯🤯🤯.
The suspense and curiosity right from the start pulled me in, and I knew I was in for a world of heartbreak 😭💔😭💔😭💔.

Killian & Magdalene met at school, and they found they were the only ones who really got one another. They understood each other without having to say much; the world just made sense when they were together. But one day, Killian didn't show up, and Magdalene tried everything to get answers. Getting nowhere, she was convinced to go to Prom with another guy, and things went south from there.

The book dives into an inhumane criminal underworld with detailed scenes and raw emotion. What Magdalene went through was brutal and horrific, things that live in the darkest of nightmares, and will absolutely shatter your heart to pieces. We are brought through Magdalene's soul-crushing experiences in a "training program", and there were many times that I needed to put the book down to process and take a break. But it also tells a story of survival, hope, true love, incredible courage and bravery, and the insane ability of the human mind to endure past the point that you feel it can't. The story is beautifully written; it flowed perfectly, and even though it's a long book, I never felt it dragged.

Magdalene was such an incredibly strong and resilient character. She was put in an impossible situation, but she fought back with everything she had while still trying to remain human to those who were suffering with her.

We don't get a lot of Killian's perspective in this book, but I just know that my heart will be destroyed in the next book, bring on the tissues! He was so perfect for her, you could feel that he loved Magdalene with all that he was; she was his entire world. I sooo want them together in the end, especially all the tragedy they went through.

There are a few subtle hints in the book that reference people/things that I feel may be explained later on, and I'm excited for that.

The ending was left on a cliffhanger, and I am on the edge of my seat, needing to know what happens next.

And I want to note the section at the start of the book where Sky explains a little about why she wrote the book - I was really touched by it, and I think it added so much more to my understanding of why she wrote this story.

I had a copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving this review.

2.5 stars. Maybe this was me being generous since I loved "In Love With the Devil" but I really was disappointed and felt like the book left a bad taste in my mouth. I get that this is part 1 one of a duet but the pacing was so off. The entire thing felt like one large downward spiral of fucked-up-ness and the heroine having having psychotic breaks. My problem with this book isn't that it is dark (it may be the darkest I'd read or at least up there in the top 5), it is that I couldn't connect with any of the characters other than Killian maybe and most of this was just suffocating with shit hitting the fan over and over again. So basically it was a shit show but i didn't give a fuck and it made it hard to get through. Also this book needs at least another round of proof reading, there were half of dozen of typos in here and that's just ones I caught while speed reading it to get it over with.

Even within a long series or a kind of depressing period where the worst things happen, there should still be other things in the book to balance it out. Happy moments, some ups to make the downs and rock bottom more devastating. Plot twists that made the story more interesting, etc, but nope, the twists were plain and weird. The tiny little reprieves in the book fell really flat because I don't care about Sir or Maggie, and their "romance" or whatever the hell it is didn't get me to empathize at all. Which is crazy since book 1 was so good because it did just that, it made me go from hating the guy to sympathizing and twisting my morals. This book wasn't even close to that.

I feel like this book was just trying to do too many things at once but it just didn't accomplish anything. Like it wasn't really hot or really that physically violent and psychotic like erotic horror nor did the Stockholm Syndrome romance feel real. Then add in the whole love triangle thing and the heroine's hallucinations and psychopathic tendencies.

I will say I did like the first maybe 15-20 % a bit more bc Killian though they were acting wayyyyyy more mature than 7 0r 10 year olds should be. And it was very insta-lovey too. But hey, it was still better than everything else in this book. I kept reading the book despite wanting to DNF bc I was hoping it would get better, like how Devil's second half did, but it didn't at all.

I think we would have benefited greatly from seeing the world from Sir's pov or Killian's. I got sick of only being inside Maggie's bc she didn't know anything and kept hallucinating and alternating betw being soulless and murderous. Like I am not blaming her at all, I am just saying some change would have been nice. And considering how the entire book is from her pov, she knows next to nothing about nothing. It was frustrating as hell.

I honestly don't know if I'd bother with the sequel. I can't drag myself through another torturous (pun not intended) book if it is similar to this one. I am a bit intrigued by the promise of book 2 having Killian's pov for half of it, so maybe I'd read it when it comes out, maybe not.

Saving the Angel of Death Volume 1
by Sky Blu

5⭐️

Just wow 🤯! This book definitely takes the term “pitch black “ to a whole different level … it literally devoured me whole.
It’s erotic horror, with no romance ( the first part is kinda depicted as dark romance) but be warned ( and check those triggers) because it’s trauma filled, there’s no hero’s , and while the first half feels safe, there’s nothing but darkness in this story.

The beginning follows the MFC Magdalena as a child, living a somewhat idyllic life/ childhood and finding her first love with “the boy with the freckles” Killian .
Magdalena is kind of an outcast, she’s struggling with her dark thoughts, but finds some solace with her schoolmate Killian( who is also kind of a outcast)

When Killian mysteriously disappears from her life, she starts to spiral, have memory gaps, and it gets hard for her to distinguish what’s reality and what’s imaginary.

The way the author writes Magdalena is just eerily brilliant. She is definitely going through some psychosis . And me as the reader found it hard to distinguish what was real and what feels like a deeply disturbing nightmare.
Just brilliant in my opinion.

The second half 🫨deals with a tremendous amount of detailed non-con se¥ual trauma , detailed torture( the fingernails 😳😦) forced captivity , Stockholm syndrome, survival and finding a light at a very dark and disturbing tunnel.
Magdalena’s tragic and terrifying story is definitely hard to read at times, but even with the horrific events she has to endure, she tries to fight her way through this unimaginable nightmare she’s living.

Magdalena’s character was very real, but flawed, and I really hope she gets revenge and hopefully some peace and healing from what she’s endured.
This story was like falling into a deep dark terrifying abyss , that you what to crawl out of but also can’t get enough of.
And I’m excited and curious to see how the rest of this story plays out in part two of “Saving the Angel of Death “

Thank you author Sky Blu for the eARC! These opinions are my own and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

I would honestly read a shopping list if Sky Blu wrote it. I am obsessed with her writing style and cannot get enough.

After devouring In Love with the Devil (Book 1), I jumped straight into Saving the Angel of Death — and it did not disappoint. Please note: this isn’t your typical dark romance. This is pitch black, diving straight into white noise territory. The trigger warnings are a mile long, and the characters are beautifully, unapologetically unhinged.

That being said, this book was fantastic. It easily lands in my top 5 reads of 2025 and will live rent free in my mind for a long time.

In true Sky Blu fashion, the story begins in one direction, teasing your sanity with scattered pieces that don’t quite make sense—until she flips everything on its head. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, she throws in a twist so wild it knocks the breath out of you. Her storytelling pulls you in so completely that when the cliffhanger hits, you’re left staring into space, wondering what just happened and desperately needing more.

The FMC is the kind of character you feel deep in your soul—fierce, brave, and a fighter to the bitter end. I have no doubt that part two will take us even deeper into her chaos and strength.

If you love the darkest of dark romances, where “trigger warnings” are more of a polite suggestion than an actual warning, this is a must read.

This book was received as an ARC, and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
