i actually think the most far fetched part about this book is the fact she actually introduces herself as a podcaster…

Oh WOW!! I loved it.
Dark Romance/ Mystery / Horror / Serial Killer / Psychological
I found this dark romance to be more like a dark and twisty thriller.
It's quite suspenseful, nail biting on the edge of your seat and fast paced.
The main character rents a cabin in the middle of nowhere to get away and concentrate on her next chapter in life after a bad relationship. She's come to this small mountain town to do a podcast on the towns mysterious folklore and missing women. She meets her neighbor who helps her after getting her car stuck in the snow. Will she be able to learn about the huntsman who strikes on Christmas Eve?
You've got to read this, the ending was just perfect.

This story is an emotional rollercoaster, be prepared for the unexpected.

Gracie tells us the tale of Ivy, a podcaster of the series 'Murder, Mystery, and Myths’, and Kris, the millionaire owner of a rental in Hemlock Hollow.

After her divorce from her awful husband, Ivy seeks a fresh start in Hemlock Hollow. There, she also wants to research the lore of the Huntsman, who keeps a list of the nice and naughty.

Arriving at her cabin, she decides to dive right into her research and visits the owner of her rental. Underestimating the storm, she ends up stranded in his house, and the wild ride through this story begins.

I must admit, I never hated a MMC like this one. Gracie, my new found queen of plot twists, makes you believe several times that you have it all figured out, but you will be so wrong. This plot, combined with the unique use of tangerines, icicles and candy canes as sex toys, ensures you won’t be able to put the book down.

Quotes:

Just because I don't have a real boyfriend, doesn't mean I can't have multiple book boyfriends. And none of them care if I shave my legs or not.

„No... I'm recently divorced. He had a few problems." Her voice holds a hint of sadness, but I'm not interested in her past. I have plans for her future.
"Problems?" I am curious what she considers problems.
"He had a problem keeping his diçk out of his secretary."

I tighten my grip on her throat, prompting her to answer me. She nods and as she does her saliva mixed with the juices from the tangerine drips down her chin. I start at her neck just above my hand and lick the juice from her skin.

"Show me your dark side, I need to know I can handle the darkest parts of you. Show me what you like."
A smile slowly spreads across my lips. She has no idea she's serving my favorite meal to me on a silver platter. I'm going to savor every damn bite.
I lean in close to her ear, "Run."

Whiteout took me for a ride Kris is unhinged and Ivy is a sweet innocent podcaster looking for someone to take her choices from her introducing her to a whole new way of life while she try’s to uncover the mystery of Hemlock Hollow and Kris was the man to do it! But throw the Huntsman in the mix and you’re on the ride of your life. The book was dark and suspenseful, spicy and just blew me away! The twist and turns the book had kept me guessing the whole time. I thought the book was going one direction and was completely wrong and loved every second of being kept on my toes never knowing where it was going to go or what was going to happen next!
I haven’t read many books without a happy ending and I have to say I didn’t mind the book having a tragic ending the story was beautifully written.
Whiteout is definitely in my top 5 books of 2024!!😍
I must say to anyone going to read it to check your trigger warnings!! Know your limits before picking this book up it is a dark romance!

WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT??? i finished it in one sitting! i could not put the book down! it was so incredibly gripping!!!!

PLEASE TELL ME WE HAVE BOOK TWO...

i fell in love with the characters from the moment i picked up the book, especially ivy! she is such an incredible fmc & im sure so many people can relate to ivy as a person & her hard times! she is wanting to go on a christmas retreat of sorts to find herself again after falling on hard times & she stumbled into kris.. who lets just say took a whirlwind approach... their story is a whirlwind,so fast paced & gripping from the very start! the characters meet with such intensity & their journey remains that intense throughout the whole thing!!

i have tried to write this review once and i cancelled it so this is just brain dump thoughts which i do like in my reviews, the story is so well written, its beautifully capturing ivy especially as a character & i fell in love with her! i also loved kris in the beginning! his character is ever so intriguing and i feel like i would love a book 2 to this little series... the smut is so great too! it's very smutty but also balanced perfectly with the plot too! i'd say it's pretty even across the board & i love that the plot & smut match up!!! i also love the bdsm ish elements and the approach is a lot more firm,a lot less of a softer approach to the smut and it dives right in which i also love! some unconventional use of different implements truly made me think too!!!

in summary :
it's a super gripping holiday novella that focuses on ivy (fmc) & kris (mmc) & their realtionship is so incredibly intense! there story was one of my favourites to read due to the intensity and sheer hunger & depravity displayed in the book! honestly it's an easy 5⭐️ for me!! no fave quotes because a lot of the quotes i loved would spoil it so im keeping hush on that front🤫🤐

characters??? 5/5⭐️

plot?? 5/5⭐️

smut?? 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

overall rating?? 5⭐️ easily! i loved the book

There’s a lot to take in. After her divorce our FMC Ivy, throws herself into work. A year passes and she decides to go away for Christmas to a cabin, in a small town that has a folk lore about a huntsman. She ends up falling for her neighbour, Kris. They have a sort of D/s relationship, that he brings out in her but still she gets the feeling she is being watched. Is he watching whilst she’s sleeping? Is he watching whilst she’s awake?

There is a twist to this erotic horror, for me I saw it coming then it had another twist, was I wrong? Turns out no. Do note this is a NO HEA, it ain’t a fluffy Christmas story at all 🤣 I did enjoy reading it, and it is a quick christmasish read 🎄

WHAT! The twist. The turns. The ENDING!? I did not see that coming if I’m being honest. Kris was a very interesting character with characteristics that kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not believe it! Ivy was great too but man I couldn’t help but think she was dumb for knowing better and still doing the opposite

I chose this for day 3 of my 25 days of spicy novellas and I am so glad I did!

This little unhinged pitch black read is exactly what I’ve been looking for!

“Naughty girls need to be punished, but they also get rewarded if they please me. And Cherry, you’ve f*cking pleased me.”

Ivy a recently divorced podcaster decided to rent out a remote cabin in Hemlock Hollow to make a podcast on the urban legend Hemlock Hollows Huntsman. Upon arriving the cabins rental manager tells her she should go talk to the man who owns the cabin by hers because his family is said to be connected to the Huntsman. She decides to waste no time and immediately starts to drive the 2 miles to his cabin, until she gets stuck in a blizzard. Luckily…or unluckily for her Kris happens upon her and takes her to his cabin. He’s already decided he’s keeping her. After just 2 drinks Ivy wakes up to find herself in Kris’s bed, with a hangover from hell. If you are not into non-con this is not the book for you…

Kris the gentleman that he is drives her back to her cabin only to find it’s been broken into and the door lock is broken. Kris offers to fix it and offers her a place to stay until he does. Things get heated between the two, and they find themselves in town the next day only to find the Huntsman’s first victim of the year. Only this particular victim is staged in a way that looks awfully familiar…Ivy decides it would be best to stay with Kris, how convenient for him.

This was never meant to be a HEA, and Kris may not be able to protect Ivy like he seems to think. I thought I knew who the Huntsman was immediately, then I was second guessing myself, and the plot twist really threw me for a loop! I don’t want to say more and spoil anything but this was extremely spicy and un-diagnosed mental health representation. If dark holiday novellas are your thing, this is a must read!

“To all the twisted, lovelies out there who enjoy their Christmas with a dash of kink and a slice of madness—this one is for you! May your bells be jingled, and your stockings always stuffed.”

There is dark DARK romance in here. There is excitement and thrill. There is 🔪 play, candy canes and icicles. Even a little of what I would consider breath play. Definitely non-con. With that, I give you the opening statement, more or less.

“This is no fairy tale with a happy ending; our story was always destined to end in tragedy.”

Triggers are there. Read them. Don’t skip them.

The way Ivy goes in blindly, but is supposed to be someone who does podcasts leaves me a little bewildered. She leans into that trust with Kris, and in the end, I can relate (a little). It’s her desire to just let go and let someone else take hold of the rope… 😜

Whiteout twists and turns. It will leave you shocked. Might even leave ya heated at a few scenes. If you’re looking for a little traditional holiday break, give this one a try.

What the heck did I just read?! This book is so unhinged, but it had me engaged from the very beginning.

The spice, the mystery, the lore, the general insanity - all of it was delicious. We love a deranged mountain man, who has alllll the kinks. I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple POVs and do not even get me started on the crazy twists and turns this story takes.

I will for sure be picking up more of Gracie’s books as I really like her writing style!

If you want a fast paced, spice filled novella with some unaliving - this is the book for you.

What a ride! Whiteout is a dark Christmas novella set around Ivy, Kris and the Huntsman. Ivy goes to the mountains of Pennsylvania to get away for the holiday season and to interview the town for her true crime podcast. There is a legend of the Huntsman centered around Christmas time. She meets Kris and the sparks fly. She enjoys his need for control. Trying to get to the bottom of the legend, she discovers many of the town's secrets, especially Kris's family. Will she learn the truth and find out if the Huntsman is a myth or man?

Thank you to the author, Gracie Williams, for gifting me an ARC of Whiteout!

You had me at “dark romance”! This novella had everything you could want; holiday theme, dark & twisty, thriller aspect & LOADS of spice! The ONLY reason this is a 4 instead of a 5 is because I felt like I needed more. I wanted more backstory on Ivy before she came on her trip. I wanted more on her career as a podcaster. I wanted more of Kris’s family history. While the book was amazing & it’ll be one I highly recommend, I just wish there was MORE of it for me to read & enjoy!

Yeahhhh don’t know how i feel about this. The concept was there (loved it don’t get me wrong) and the smut was there (ALSO good shit).

I know it was a novella but it felt like a whole story was trying to be fit into a short amount of time, and it felt very insta love without the LOVE part (if you’ve read it you know what I mean)

But it just kinda fell flat for me and I’m pretty sad about that tbh 😔

This book was quite an emotional rollercoaster for me so be prepared for anything because there are twists and turns all over this novella!

In this book we’re following Ivy who just divorced her awful ex-husband and she’s decided to get away to a remote cabin in Hemlock Hollow for Christmas. She chose Hemlock Hollow for their local legend of the Huntsman because she wants to research the lore for her podcast called “Murder, Mystery and Myths”. After arriving she decides to visit the owner of the cabin she rented, Kris Kincaid, to try and get some answers about the Huntsman. When she gets there she gets snowed in and stuck at Kris’s cabin! That is where the wild ride truly begins and things spiral out of control.

This book kept me on my toes the entire time! I would think I had everything figured out and then there’d be a crazy twist I wasn’t expecting! It was really refreshing to read this story because it wasn’t predictable at all! Oh and the spice was so good, that kitchen scene…😈🌶️

I also really enjoyed the characters in this book! Ivy was such a relatable character for me personally because she was closer to my age and obsessed with true crime, myths and legends just like me. I also really enjoyed Kris with his back and forth personality plus his rough mountain man attitude! It was just perfection.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I’d definitely recommend it for this holiday season or really anytime you want a very unpredictable quick read.

This book is just what I wanted. I didn't know it was what I wanted until the last page.
The world of thrillers and horror is no mystery to me, I've never read one with such a dark romance twist to it though. My mind is very confused as to whether I love this or not 🤔

I'm going to go with yes. 🤔

Having read other works by Gracie, I can attest for her ability to suck readers in for an emotional journey. I don't think I could live without her writing now. I've been corrupted, I went from fantasy/sci-fi, and horror to having a little thing for dark and spicy romance.

Whiteout, although a novella, packs a serious punch in its brief page count. I read it in one sitting and I can confirm it's a psychological pearl clutcher with a deeply burning desire to test what a readers comfort zone was/is. Full of trigger warnings that readers will love, a darkly satisfying presence, steeped in folklore, piles of intriguing mystery, plus all the smut you can ask for, it delivers far more than a brief read.

👀 I am going to check my cupboards for proverbial boogeymen now.

Whiteout has left me in utter confusion, yet deeply satisfied at the build up and then finishing on a note that makes me beg for more.
Some of the trigger warnings in this story, I just completely glossed over, who reads them anyway?
What I would have liked a warning for: Christmassy kink that makes my eyes pop out and my jaw drop, ensuring that I will never eat a candy cane again. Ever.

I enjoyed the world building here a lot, snowy mountain cabin, which is rumoured to be a mystery spot for ‘the huntsman’. A disturbing being doling out tricks and treats to those who deserve it. We get a look into the surrounding kitschy town, with a severe avoidance of truth being told.

The story boils down to a fine truth, a severe mental incapacity to separate oneself from their inner demons, it can only end up bad for you.
Side note: Mental health is a finicky thing, and I thought it was captured exceptionally well, it felt like something I, being mentally ill myself, could have only imagined in my darkest times. Usually in intrusive thoughts like a horribly awake creepy slideshow you can't exit.

The multi POV, was very interesting, normally short stories are told in one point, with more time needed to process multiple characters. Whiteout somehow managed to introduce us to characters, and then see the intense in depth motivations of the man behind the mask. I do love a reveal scene. The build up to the twists that arise were juicy. I didn't feel cheated by the character swapping as I've done many times before, the plot gave just enough of a story and mindset for each of them to balance the chapters completely.

Overall, this book is a thrilling read intended for mature audiences.
Darkly satisfying plot with a huge dollop of smut.❤️‍🔥

He sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake. He knows if you’ve been bad or good. And for your sake, you better hope he doesn’t think you’ve been bad. No, he isn’t Santa. He’s the Huntsman. This story messed with my brain in the best of ways. There was so much spicy spice in this short novella, but the story was so good. This is the story of a newly divorced murder podcaster taking a trip to the mountains of Pennsylvania in order to research a local legend. Unfortunately, the weather plays a part in her fate and she ends up wrecking her car in a snow storm. But a local finds her and rescues her. This leads us all down a path that messes with your brain and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The whole time, I kept trying to guess what would happen next and I don’t know if I saw the end coming. I read this in about two hours because I just couldn’t put it down.

The main characters in this story are Ivy, Kris, and the Huntsman. Ivy seems very sweet and innocent at the beginning, but we slowly see a different side of her come out. Kris is dark and scary, and frankly does some things at the beginning that throws all of the red flags (please read the trigger warnings) but we also see a sweet side of him while dealing with Ivy. He seems like most of our morally grey MMCs. Ivy has an undeniable connection to him and even makes some concessions for him that a typical person might not make. And then there is the local legend, the Huntsman. He is full of rage and blood lust and he is angry that Ivy has been taken by someone other than him. As the story goes on, we go down all sorts of rabbit holes and at the end, we find ourselves in a place we didn’t expect.

I loved this story. Technically, it’s a Christmas story, as the Huntsman typically comes out on Christmas Eve to find his prey. But this is far from your Hallmark holiday movie. This is dark and spicy, and it gives you a respect for the utensils in your kitchen. Read the trigger warnings but then take a tiny bit of time and read this story. It is the short dark Christmas tale your dark heart is looking for.
