The Token, part 9 is about making peace with one’s past and learning to embrace the future. I have followed and adored Kiki since part 1 in series and my only wish is that she faced her past and present sooner and didn’t leave Chet in a precarious situation. That said, taking the long route, Chet and Kiki still arrived at their perfect ending and an epilogue that included Mick and Faren (part 1-6) as well as Thorn (part 7).

Brilliant story-telling! Cocky, kinky and sinister hero with a soft side! Feisty, brave yet broken heroine!

Chet Sinclair has built carefully constructed walls around his life. Walls that hide the hurt, pain and devastation known as his childhood. Although he comes from privilege, he doesn't expect a happily ever after will be possible...until Kiki gets under his skin.

Kiki has clawed her way to the top. Working her way through school, she is a force to be reckoned with. That is the case until the day Chet and Kiki collide. Kiki feelings for Chet make her become vulnerable to hurt like she's never known...and she's known a lot of hurt.

Kiki runs from Chet and her feelings right into what she thought to be a safe haven, but has she run herself deeper into trouble.

Chet knows he should let Kiki go but his draw to be with Kiki is fierce.

When the past catches up with them, both Kiki and Chet will have to decide if they can learn to trust in each other before they loose everything.

Passions explode in this dark and dangerous city's underbelly. Intense sexual attraction becomes obsession or is it love?

My Rant: Kiki and Chet are the perfect pair. They just click. emotionally they are both broken and empty, afraid of the very thing that brings them together. During the first couple of books you are familiar with Kiki as Faren's best friend. You get to see a side of her that is loyal, dependable and witty. You adore her for her bravery because she is a true friend to the end but slowly you discover she has her own dark secrets that even Faren was not aware of. Kiki is strong but she needed someone in her corner that was stronger. Marata created the perfect hero for her. Chet, as I should call him sin is sinister, dark ,deeply emotionally detached in the inside. His horrible upbringing that has caused him grief leads him into the arms of Kiki. Once they collide there is a collision that is so intense that you have to grip your seats just to hold on to this emotional packed story. Love between these two characters is not easy, there are villains lurking with deceitful intent and once they strike the waver of desperation to survive kicks in. Fleeing was the easiest solution for Kiki she knew nothing else but to run into the arms of another, who happens not to be Chet. What???? thats right right into the arms of AXE. I am screaming Kik are you crazy. Why are you leaving Chet... This lose erupts Chet and rocks him to his core. I Love, Love, Love him. Broken again , sniff sniff, I am so emotional because Chet is so distraught. Marata is dangle my emotions all over this story and it just isn't fair. The wicked witch of the west who is Chets stepmom runs havoc on his life. She is like a local motive without breaks. I am angry , pissed and ready to go to war for my characters. lol , I know I am a little crazy but thats just me. I get so involved with my characters. Marata continues to spin a web the captures me. Her characters are flawed that is why you love them but their stories are endearing because they overcome the challenges that life throws them. Her writing is captivating, her storylines are tantalizing, hot, wild and pure erotic fun.

My Recommendation:

I rated this book 5 out of 5 purple rant hearts and I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a dark and suspenseful read with a story line that sizzles.

4 Steamy Stars! Awesome conclusion to Chet and KiKi's story! These two went through a lot in the short time being together. There's plenty of drama, misunderstanding and murder. Their chemistry is still off the charts and Chet is one dangerous lover.

Thank you M. Eros for another awesome read and a wonderful epilogue.

What an ending to this series. So many lights are shed on situations that kept us in the dark with Chet's past. He is full of coldness until Kiki melts all that ice around his heart. Loved this ending.
