John R. Lee, M.D., was a pioneer and expert in the study and use of the hormone progesterone, and on the subject of hormone replacement therapy for women.
Explains female hormones, synthetic (and see effects) and natural. Feeling well informed now. Bring on my consultant appointments.....I know what I want and won't settle for less!
Other than the printing error of reproducing page 18 and omitting page 19, this book is pretty informative. Currently, a lot more information is known about progesterone and the role in plays in the female reproductive system, but for the time this book came out, it was pretty progressive. Dr. Lee proposes the idea of estrogen dominance, which is widely accepted now, as a cause for a variety of female menstrual problems. I'm finding it very educational. It might be a little difficult for those who do not have a medical background, or have never taken physiology or biochemistry. There is a lot of terminology and chemical reactions used in the book.
A thurough and well-explained (scientifically and medically) description of estrogen dominance, its causes, symptoms, treatments, etc. Very interesting - provides potentially helpful information for women's health isuues in particular and a solution that your doctor probably doesn't know about!
