I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was drawn to the book after it was marketed as Sapphic high fantasy, with a little Princess Bride and a little Priory of the Orange Tree. The latter is one of my favourites I've read in recent years. I'm hesitant to agree with the comp on this one, but maybe others would agree.

The premise is basic fantasy: young woman goes on a rescue mission and discovers that she is the Chosen One (Child of Prophecy, in this situation), and suddenly is carrying a burden far greater than she ever expected. Along the way, she gains allies who help her with her new power and teaches her skills.

The book sort of reminded me of Green Rider by Kristen Britain. In terms of everything sort of just falling into place for the heroine. She gets cool powers that constantly make it so she gets out of hairy situations or random people help her without prompt. It's not bad, but to me, it feels unearned at times.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. The premise was cool sounding, I liked the ideas presented here, but something about the presentation was flat for me. The writing felt simple, too simple. I know it’s the author's first novel so I'm not taking points off for that. But fantasy is usually immense, immersing, and detailed. I felt that lacking. Characters just jump place to place with no seconds to spare on the locations. I don't need Tolkien-esc 30 pages of descriptions on the trees and grass, but spare a minute or two to tell me how the city looks or how the forest looks. How hot are the dragons flames? How exhausted are the characters after a difficult fight? Does the festival feel joyous or is there something sinister lurking that is causing tension?

Characterization, in my opinion, felt like it could be improved upon as well. Larissa in the first few chapters seems to be caring, then isn't, then acts like a horrible person, then is nice again? It's jumbled to me. Adelle is just mean, there's no dimension to her character. Nora was a good MC, and I liked Finn and Briella, but I felt like they could have been developed more.

Lastly, pacing. SO MUCH HAPPENED. The characters and the reader need time to breathe. Legit in one page, they meet some random lady, and not even 2 pages later she's betraying them. They see some trolls, get attacked by a giant snake woman. Sometimes, I had to go back to make sure I didn't skip a page but I never did. There is such a thing as too much action. I think all the things presented were cool, but it needed to be broken up. I also think paragraph breaks could have really helped with some of the pacing issues I personally had. There were a couple, but it helps show us time has passed without having to tell us time as passed.

The book itself has a lot of potential that I don't think it completely lives up to. I know this is the first of a duology, but I think some things need to be tightened up to really allow the next book to shine. The flashes of good and even great were there, but it felt bogged down by everything that kept transpiring without much build up.

I hesitate to give a full 3 stars, but I do think with some polishing, book 2 could be good. Plus part of the proceeds go to the Trevor Project and I want to see queer authors succeed, so I'm rounding up to 3.

i had the privilege of reading child of draco before its release, and it’s a delightful mix of action, adventure, and heartwarming moments. while it’s not the most intricate high fantasy out there, it delivers a fun and compelling story that’s easy to dive into and hard to put down.

the story follows nora dupont, a young woman shunned by her family, who sees a chance to change her life by rescuing princess gabriella from a dragon. but this isn’t just a straightforward rescue mission—it’s the spark for a much bigger journey. from the moment nora steps out on her quest, the book dives headfirst into a whirlwind of action. the adventure never slows down, and it’s impossible not to get swept up in the drama. at times, i almost felt exhausted for the characters because their journey is so relentless, but it’s also what makes the book such a page-turner.

one of the standout elements is the cast of characters. rakestraw fills her world with a diverse group, including celestial beings, witches, mages, and non-magic folk, all of whom bring something unique to the table. the relationship between nora and briella is a definite highlight. their romance feels natural and organic, developing with a quiet tenderness that doesn’t overshadow the larger story.

the book also benefits from being highly accessible. the writing is straightforward and engaging, making it an easy read without sacrificing its emotional depth. it’s perfect for readers who want to escape into a world of dragons, magic, and adventure without getting bogged down by overly complex lore.

that said, as a fan of sprawling high fantasy, i did feel like some areas could have been more fleshed out. while the book touches on familiar fantasy tropes like prophecy and magical beings, it doesn’t quite deliver the sense of epic scale or immersive worldbuilding that i associate with the genre. the magic system, while integral to the story, feels a bit vague, and i found myself wishing for more lore and structure to ground the narrative. if you’re going in expecting something on the level of the priory of the orange tree (as its marketing suggests), you might find it a little too light, but that doesn’t detract from its charm as an adventurous and heartfelt story.

overall, child of draco is an enjoyable and fast-paced read that offers plenty of adventure, diverse characters, and a beautifully written sapphic romance. while it doesn’t fully embrace the complexities of high fantasy, it more than makes up for it with heart and excitement. if you’re looking for a fun, action-packed escape, this one’s worth adding to your tbr.

thank you, @melissa.rakestraw_author, for the e-arc. 🩷

I am going to DNF this for the time being. I hate to do that with an ARC especially. This story isn't terrible but for me, it is not engaging. I cannot seem to form an emotional connection with the characters and although many things are happening on their journey, I have never really felt invested in that journey. Since it is the end of the year and I have committed to several ARCs and reading challenges, I won't be spending any more time on this one. I may revisit in the future. I will not give a rating since I did not complete. Thank you to the author for the ARC opportunity.

First of all, I loved Child of Draco. This story was captivating from the first page. I loved the world building and the character development. There were twists I didn’t expect and the story was just fantastic! Second of all, I LOVED the LGBTQ representations. Melissa Rakestraw wrote their stories beautifully! This is MUST read!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really wanted to like this book. I was drawn to this book because it was marketed as a high fantasy with dragons. However, it was a basic fantasy with little world building. It was a very, very fast-paced book. I think the pace could have slowed down to add more world and character building. The series itself has a lot of potential but could have been drawn out to a trilogy to allow for more world and character development.

3.5⭐️ I had the privilege of being able to read an ARC of Child of Draco and I have to start out by saying I am so excited for Melissa to have her work in the hands of readers! That alone is a huge accomplishment!

This story was cozy and sweet. I loved the use of multiple mythical creatures through out, the small found family with Finn, Luna, and Nora, and the slowly evolving love story between Nora and Briella.

I felt that there were so many things to happen in such a short time within the story. I wanted more time with and depth explored within certain relationships as well as the lore of the land. The pacing was a little fast for me personally and I feel as if we have yet to explore the whole relationship between the two girls. Luckily there is a second book on the horizon!

I found myself highlighting this book which I don’t typically do. So many genuine and relatable words were written and it was what carried me through the story. Nora is a character I believe we can all see a little bit of ourselves in and her friends remind me of all the best qualities I see in my own. Melissa if this is your debut I can only imagine how great your stories to come will be!

Wow!! This Book is Incredible!!

This story completely caught me off guard. I came across this book as an ARC and to be honest, before starting it, I had serious doubts about whether I would finish it or not. So much about it screamed 'cheap, generic fantasy.' The cover was nice but didn't stand out as being especially inspired or original. The name was fine but seemed a bit 'run of the mill.' The plot sounded similar to a hundred other fantasy novels that I've come across (most of which are written for tweens or early teen readers). Thank God, I didn't let first impressions prevent me from reading this book, it totally blew me away! This is easily one of my all-time favorites.

The plot in Child of Draco is admittedly fairly standard fare in fantasy novels. We have a heroine, Nora, who has had a difficult life from birth up through the day we first encounter her. She is forced out on a journey across her world, encountering friends, allies, and enemies along the way. The story is sprinkled with plenty of magic and action and twists and turns. Much of what is contained in her world is exactly what you expect in these types of stories. If you have ever read fantasy manga/lightnovels or done any role playing, this will feel very familiar to you.

Fortunately, in this (rare) case, nothing that I just said really matters. Nora's story doesn't shine because it reinvented the wheel. It shines because it takes all of this and weaves something unexpected, magical, and riveting. It makes far better use of these elements than almost any other book that I have read.

In a strange way, the fact that you know the fantasy world and the tropes that come along with it from other stories, before you even pick up this book, help rather than hinder the story. Not having to spend countless pages fleshing out a unique world full of magic and creatures and elements that you have never encountered before, frees Melissa up to spend much more time on what truly matters, on the heart of the story...the characters. This is not at all to say that the world is not adequately fleshed out, because it is. The world is beautiful. The magic is spectacular. But the characters and their journeys are what truly set this book apart.

I couldn't help but be impressed by everything in this story. The plot isn't revolutionary but it also didn't go the way that I expected it to. There was enough uncertainty and surprise that I never really felt like I knew what was going to come next or how things would play out. The world seemed familiar but also magical and exciting, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in it. This book shines on nearly every level but the crowning achievement here has got to be the characters. Unfortunately in fantasy stories, characters are often cookie cutter, generic, boring, and one-dimensioned. The focus is so often on wowing you with the action and fantasy elements that everything else falls by the wayside. Not in Child of Draco. You will encounter people that don't always fit in the mold, that are interesting, that are real, and most importantly, that you care about.

All this being said, there are a couple small issues that I had with this book. One is that there are a handful of occasions where I felt that a character said or did something that seemed out of character, exaggerated, or inorganic. The other issue is that there are some proofreading misses, awkward grammar/sentence structure, and a couple of times where there are inconsistencies regarding where a character is or what they are doing. I do want to emphasize, however, that these are infrequent, and are very minor in the scope of the book. Overall this is an absolutely amazing debut novel but and author with a lot of talent, who I'm sure will only grow in skill and talent with time.

If you like fantasy, if you like magic, if you like engaging stories, if you like great characters, you will love this book. Once you pick it up, you will literally not want to put it down. As you read the last page you will be desperate to continue your journey with Nora in her world. The disappointment because it's over will be more than balanced out by an appreciation for the very special experience you just had.

Nora DuPont has lived her life being treated as a servant by her ambitious mother, Adelle, when repeated testing failed to reveal any magic within her. Over time Nora came to accept her mother’s cruelty and spent her time with the servants of the house. Her life changed when Adelle announced that the Prince would be getting married and that Princess Gabrielle would be staying at the DuPont Estate until the wedding.

Princess Gabrielle was raised with one mission - marry the King and then kill him, exacting her father’s revenge by sacrificing her own life for the welfare of her kingdom and her people. She was ready to face her fate but fate had other plans. During her brief time at the DuPont estate, she felt drawn to Nora.

On the day of the royal wedding, Nora noticed a hesitation in Briella. She wanted to run away with her and hoped that Briella felt the same. Just when she felt all was lost, chaos erupted when a dragon emerged and snatched away the princess while setting the town ablaze. As Nora tried to muster up the courage to save the princess, she realized just how important the princess had become to her.

As Nora sets out on an adventure to save the princess, she finds unlikely companions and discovers a prophesy that could disrupt her way of life. Will she find the princess? Will she be able to slay the dragon that caused so much destruction? What new secrets will she discover about herself?

I am thankful to have received the ARC for this book. This is the first sapphic romantasy book that I’ve read and I was pleasantly surprised. Nora and Brielle’s interactions didn’t seem forced. Their chemistry was perfect. All of the supporting characters from Finn to Luna to all the magical creatures, all had a purpose and did not seem wasted. The world that the author created captured my imagination and I cannot wait to see what comes next for Nora and her friends.

Child of Draco. A fabulously written debut story, and the best news...there is a second book to come. I just cannot wait.

I have no problem at all rating this as a 5 star, even if it was not a debut book.

I just loved the world that I was drawn into, so believable, I could see it all in my mind’s eye from the towns, the castles, and the roads we trod. The MC, Nora, was so well developed. An amazing amount of work had clearly gone into creating her character, and then there was Briella and Finn. They seamlessly fell into the story, there was nothing forced or strained about their own story lines within this journey, and what was lovely they were warts and all. There is good, bad to follow here, and tears and cheers drawn from me with ease.

There is a strong love interest which is subtly and well written. Nothing very graphic as it was not needed. So many writers go down the smutty route where it is just not needed. The love is subtle and left more than enough to my imagination, which was just great.

Then as for her mother, Adelle and her sister, Larissa. Well, so many twists and curved balls. They certainly kept me on my toes.

This is a book that I will re-read. There is enough in it that I will pick up things that I missed first time. It most certainly met my needs as a reader, it was page turning, well developed, well-paced, played with my emotions, plenty of tears - both sadness and joy and so many story lines that made me think.

I was so sad when the words - The End appeared, I truly wanted more. The best news is there is a book two - there is a god!

Thank you, Mellisa, for this wonderful story.

I received and ARC copy of this book and my review is left on an entirely voluntary basis.

A prophecy has been foretold that the Child of Draco will destroy the world.

Nora has had a rough life. Due to her nonmagical abilities, her mother shunned her and treated her as a servant. The only comfort she finds is in the head of the staff, Tulee, who has taken care of her since she was young and has filled the role of a mother. Upon a wedding that was planned in haste, a dragon attacks, leaving the town in ruins. Nora must go and find her path in life alone. She stumbles on new friendships, foreign cities, and ancient magic on her adventure. Her path was set long ago, the only problem. She doesn't believe in destiny.

I loved reading The Child of Draco, it's well-written and has impeccable details. I felt immersed in the story as the adventure unfolded and the plot thickened. I loved Nora's character and her growth throughout the story. She went from someone who was abused and lacked confidence to someone who radiated confidence and trusted in herself and her abilities. I enjoyed reading about the growth of friendship and the friendly banter between her and Finn. He came in at the right time and showed her a friendship filled with love and loyalty.

The book is beautiful! The story and plot were well planned out and detailed leaving no room for error. Its originality gives the reader a new look at the world of dragons and magic. While the book was based on "The Chosen One" it had a twist. Instead of the main character accepting who she was, she tried to defy destiny and find her own way.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Gonna start by saying I loved the world building, the characters and the plot! Loved that I had the pleasure to read it and I hope more people will too!

The book begins by getting us to know Nora, which was a delightful thing, because she is a strong character, I really liked her! The villains are good villains, it didn’t feel like the author was trying to make them be overly bad. And the good guys were good. Except when it comes to Larissa, Nora’s sister. One time she liked Nora but was too much of a coward to help, chapters later she was then really bad like their mother, and later on she was once again a loving sister but a coward?? Like it was really confusing, because I had theories why she was acting so confusing but maybe it was a flaw in the plot. I don't know.

Another flaw I found but this time on the writing/editing was around the end, maybe 90% of the book, Nora was narrating the moon and pages later, she was like 'omg i didn't notice the moon!' and I was a bit confused like honey???. this also happened again a few pages later, someone said to her she was out for four days but pages later it actually showed me she wasn't, it was only a few hours she was not awake... Hopefully these little details will gain more attention in the next book!

Anyway, but still, it didn't bother me or got in the way of my reading! Yes, it was a bit confusing but no, I still definitely highly recommend it to everyone!!

This book is a five star to me and I cannot wait for the second book! Also I have a feeling it’s gonna be in my top 5 of this year!

I unfortunately did not like it as much as i thought i would which is a shame because i was excited to read this.

The beginning was rough to read with fast mechanical pacing and flat characters.
Nora's mother was so cartoonishly "evil" and i wish there was more depth to her shown well both in her and Larissa's case because they both had pretty good potential (this is applicable to all her characters).
It was hard to care about any character or plot throughout the book. Nora was somewhat annoying in certain cases (this may be just my very subjective opinion) and inconsistent in that one particular scene where she just trusts a random person who doesn't even have a good cover story blindly (she is betrayed a page later) while being paranoid (rightfully so i agree but where was this paranoia for the other character) about another character based on her instincts alone. This may be me just nitpicking though so nvm.

At points in the start, it somewhat felt like the author was just going through the motions to move the plot along.

Though the book did get relatively better in the middle and the reason why is Briella, Nora and Finn interactions along with the plot picking up i guess.

I almost wanna read the next book just to see Nora spite Draco lol.

The plot premise is somewhat interesting yes, it's just the execution of it all. Hopefully things become better in the second book which i think may be possible considering alot of my issues were in the first half of the book.

Dragons, Celestial beings. A princess, a rescue mission, a journey that brings Nora, Finn and Briella together. There is a lot going on here, and I really do mean a lot. The story is very fast paced, lots of action and development packed into its pages. When events kick into motion, they steam full speed ahead, often resolved quickly. Locations, though, are often described in detail, host to the events that quickly transpire within.

This is the story of Nora primarily, told almost exclusively from her point of view. It is a story of healing, acceptance and growth, of finding a family that actually cares for her, and that special someone in her life. It's a tale of coming to terms with her power, but as to her place in the world? That has changed a bit over the course of the story, and given that it's a duology, I doubt that we've seen the full extent of it yet. Especially given the epilogue.

Not is all as it seems. There are lots of twists and surprises along the way, and lots of other characters to meet along the way, each having a part to play in her journey.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, and I am curious to see what happens in the following book. There is no major cliff at the end of this one, just the next step in her journey to prepare for what will happen next, but as to what that will be? It'll be interesting to see, especially given the epilogue.

Oh, and I love the cover!

I received and read an ARC version of this story.

I had the privilege of reading an ARC on BookSirens and am grateful for this being a part of this fantasy adventure!

This could be a great fantasy stand-alone!

In the beginning, the lack of world building made it quite difficult for me to deeply immerse into the world- I got that this was a rags to hero sort of tale but I was longing for more descriptive storytelling about the world. Especially since sometimes it felt as though I was being thrown, albeit interesting but random, mythical creatures at me.

The story felt sometimes disjointed as the dialogue pulled me out of the reading experience because of the sudden change of language; I felt that the story didn’t flow as easily.

I adored the characters however, and could really feel the development of the main character. I think the author did an amazing job of writing the growth of Nora throughout her journey! The romance was also sceptical at first since it was sort of insta-love-ish however once I got to the middle part of the book it slowed down and the tension was tantalising!

All in all, this is a great beginner fantasy book with no extreme conflict, just vibes and found family, in my opinion.

I was given this book complimentary from Book Sirens in e-book form in return for my honest review. Everything stated in this review is of my own opinion and I was not compensated monetarily for providing this review.
I believe this is the first book by the author and as a first book it is awesome and I for one cannot wait to read the sequel.
I loved the romance between the two main characters, it just seemed so real and the pacing of the romance was perfect
The pacing of the story (not the romance) is fast but it seems right like in the thriller movies when a whole state is mobilized against you and hunting you down things by necessity occur quickly -if you stay in one place long enough you will get caught.
One minor criticism - the overuse of the word "glare", everyone is always glaring at another character - the occasional "frown" or "scowl" would break this up. A minor criticism in an author just starting out especially one as good as this but good to correct early on.
Great book well worth the five stars and look forward to see what the author has planned for the two girls.

This book was so much fun to read. I absolutely loved all of the interactions between the main characters, and I thought that Finn was the perfect way to add some lightheartedness and humor into the adventure. All of the different creatures that were introduced during the story kept me invested, and I was always excited to see what the group would run into next. This book reminded me so much of the Isekai genre in anime because even though the characters were not transported to and having to survive in another world, their whole reality changed and they had to gain and accept new power and skills in order to grow. The only small critique that I would make is that the story felt like it dragged a little bit when they were making their way toward Goghbuldor. I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to read an advanced copy if this book, and am voluntarily leaving my honest review of it. I can’t wait to read more of Melissa Rakestraw’s work!

I received this book as an ARC and am leaving my honest opinion voluntarily.
Child of Draco immediately caught my attention because HEEEELLLLOOOOO????? sapphic romance with dragons?! I was so excited to dive into this story; overall, it was a beautiful read. The worldbuilding, especially the take on magic and folklore creatures, was really intriguing, and I’d love to see even more of that in the next book.
Nora and Briella’s relationship was adorable, and I enjoyed them together. Plus, the side characters were fantastic and helped keep me invested in the story. My biggest issue was the pacing of it all. it felt like there was a lot happening all at once, and there weren’t enough moments to breathe between major events. A little more space between some of the big moments would have made the story flow better.
That said, I think this duo has a lot of potential, and I’m hopeful for the second book. I’m excited to see where things go next!

I found late that this was a sapphic high fantasy book, something out of my comfort zone. Yet, I continued reading and enjoyed the adventure of Nora.

Although, for me, the story lacked in the world-building and character formula that I looked forward in fantasy novels. Yes, I was curious in what happens to Nora and her adventure, but I wanted more description of place, of the emotions, of the scenes.

It was fast-paced. A lot was happening in just a short time, so the depth of each scene in the character's growth was not well manifested. But I liked the plot, the different supporting characters presented in Nora's adventure, the friendship formed among Nora, Finn and Briella. Looking forward to the next novel, eager to see more of Nora's evolution to her true potential and what happens next with her mother and Draco.

I received the ARC for this book. Thank you for the opportunity.

*This book was given to me for free but this opinion is my own.*

I was a big fan of this book. The reason I liked it was it was a fantasy book with a queer romantic subplot.

I think the world-building and adventure is nicely written.

The characters are enjoyable and not annoying. When the main characters meet each other, it was awkward but sweet.

And for some characters, it was harder to find their goals but eventually they are made very obvious.

On the negative side, I couldn't figure out the family dynamics. I didn't know what was happening there.

Dialogue is really hit or miss. I think the conversations with her sister were kind of ingenuine.

Another thing was that nothing was a surprise. I would be able to guess a twist.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was fun to read.

This was a solid book for anyone who may be new to sapphic fantasy, or even just fantasy.

I picked it up because I saw the author reference Priory of the Orange Tree, which is one of my favorite books, and I saw the notes of it in here. Child of Draco had its unique take on magic and dragons, however, which made it very intriguing, as well as intertwining folklore creatures, like centaurs and serapins.

My favorite part about the book were the side characters. They were so well written that you could easily love.

The relationship between Nora and Briella was cute, especially towards the end.

I would definitely read book two. Hopefully, things are more fleshed out and we have more time to really immerse ourselves and sit with what’s going on in the story.

3.5⭐️ this book has so much potential and I really enjoyed it. It was really well paced and engaging. The reason for my 3.5 is that I thought the characters relationship development was too abrupt at points like it was a little rushed to get to the desired feelings and it didn’t really feel like they had the best chemistry before they were declaring they loved each other.

I also spotted a few spelling errors and a couple of times the wrong character name was used when they weren’t even in the scene. But still an overall enjoyable read and I’d definitely read more in this series.

I was so excited to read this book and it didn’t disappoint. First thing I want to say is that
I was given an arc of Child of Draco and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Next, I love these characters so much that I wish I could join them on their adventures, but I don’t think I would be as brave as them. I loved the world that Melissa M Rakestraw created, plus she even added a map included before the book begins and that really helped while I was visualizing Nora’s journey. It was easy to read as I found myself enthralled in story. It was nice to be able to escape to an imaginary world. Can’t wait for the next one!

I read Child of Draco as an ARC reader and I can’t wait for the sequel! I enjoyed the connection between the characters, and I found Nora, the main character, to be very relatable. The story kept me wanting to know what happens next, with plenty of action and mystery throughout the entire book. I also really enjoyed that the romance is secondary to the main plot. I can’t wait to read the sequel! This was clearly a well thought out and well loved debut novel. I can’t wait to see what else Melissa writes! If you’re looking for an adventure look no further!

With its blend of epic fantasy, sapphic romance, and thrilling dragon lore, The Child of Draco offers a fresh and exciting take on classic fantasy tropes. Nora’s transformation from an outcast to a hero is both inspiring and relatable, and her bond with Princess Gabriella adds emotional resonance. While some sections of the story could have been paced better, the imaginative world-building and well-written characters more than compensate. A promising debut that sets the stage for an even stronger sequel. Highly recommended for fans of adventurous, inclusive fantasy!

This was an exciting read.

An unwanted magicless child, raised in a cruel way, becomes the child that is prophesized to change the world. In the process of her magic awakening, she finds love and friends and found family. The ordeals were rough, but they survived in the end.

Between Nora and Briella things grew slowly into something beautiful and true.

I must say I truly enjoyed the book and am wondering if there will be a sequel.

I received this book as an ARC and was super excited to read it!

The dragons and world building was something I really loved and I thought Nora was a really interesting character. The action paired with the twists and turns made the book really exciting for me.

I am a sucker for a good cliff hanger and there was no cliff hanger leaving me like DYING for more but that feels like more of a me problem than Melissa’s lol

Overall I really enjoyed the book and all the action but would have loved a crazy cliff hanger ending!

Can’t wait to see what happens next

I really enjoyed the fast-paced action in this book. I struggle with getting bogged down in too many details and find myself often skimming through dense descriptions and text. I feel that Melissa Rakestraw really did a great job balancing details with action. Her description of the scenery was beautiful and I could picture the places in my mind's eye. I really enjoyed the slow-burn sapphic romance and the interactions between the characters were believable and beautiful. I can't wait to read the sequel!

Lots of well thought out, easy to care about characters, each with their own subplots and desires. Fight scenes are multi-dimensional and interesting to read. The world is immersive and complex in its history, culture, and societal issues. If you're looking to escape real life and enter a new world for a while, I highly recommend this read! I truly cannot wait for the sequel and to read what adventures and challenges these characters will face!
Read as an ARC reader.

Wasn’t looking for a gem, but this sure ended up being one. Throughly enjoyed this read, finding myself quickly invested in the MCs. The storyline moves well, the world is interesting, and the surrounding cast is good. Will be following so I can snag this author’s upcoming works. Voluntary review of an ARC copy.

A well crafted and intricate story with a whole cast of well developed and wonderful characters.

The story centres around Nora, an unloved and powerless daughter of a legendary mage. Nora finds friendship and love on the road to 'finding herself'.

I'm looking forward to book 2!
