I know it's still in its early days but I already love this manga the character designs are amazing (especially the loml Tao) and the art is beautiful. I think it has a lot of potential and I can't wait to see where the story goes!
The plot has started, we have seen a lot of the characters we will be following and so far it's becoming really interesting. I have lots of theories. The art is gorgeous as always. The character designs are distinct and beautiful. Unless I'm flying thru, it does feel like the chapters are shorter? Regardless, it's an interesting story with characters that are very loveable and I can already tell this will rip out my heart later on (kinda how mha started out kinda wholesome and in the present chapters it's hectic. I could be wrong but I'm getting jjk vibes in the sense that it has loveable characters taking out monsters so I'm preparing myself for similar painful arcs we might get. Hopefully yuto Sano isn't as sadistic as gege akutami)
Also we have some characters with similar names so I hope I can remember who is who especially since this is a monthly serialization rather than the weekly I'm usually used to.
It's hard to tell how many chapters are in each volume but I assume this volume is chapters 5-7 maybe? Chapters 8 comes out in may so that's probably the start of vol 3.
3.5 This volume fell a little flat to me. It could just be that I wasn’t in the right mood to enjoy it, but it felt like not a lot actually happened. The highlight was the draft one-shot chapter included at the end, which I felt had great characterization of Alma and Tao compared to the actual first chapter that got published.
Still, will be tuning in to see where this goes next.
At the moment I have to admit that it's the beauty of the design that keeps me interested in the series, because the plot is so distressingly banal.
It's true that the main characters are really endearing - apart from the new one, the inevitable asshat, I wouldn't mind never seeing again - but that's not enough. The vague beginnings of a storyline are flabby and quickly replaced by a new case of little interest.
At this stage I don't know if I'm going to continue the series for long. It's a feast for the eyes, of course, but I like to be told a story too!
The bonus story and one shot take up a lot of space in this Volume.. However we do get to meet Nei....who basks in praise...and the story gets to move along
Nei is soooo cute!! Adorable and a badass AND she’s got pink hair? The way she and Alma trade barbs and tease each other is cute!
The plot is beginning to thicken! I’m curious to see what happens next.
And this volume had lots of extra goodies! The original one shot that inspired the Gokurakugai serialized manga. A one shot about all the characters on their day off, and an “art gallery” full of art from Sano’s socials and from commemorative shikishi boards.
everyone in this manga is so hot holy shit. WHOEVER WHITE HAIR VILLIAN DUDE IS??? COME HERE NOW. anyways love nei she’s baller. tao is just … she’s so fucking badass and alma MY DARLING!! he’s so cool! love where the plot is going … LOVE IT ALL
flawless art style? strong female characters? silly male lead who respects women? supernatural abilities? criminal organisations? yeah this manga artist wrote this just for me sorry y’all
I’m really liking this so far. I’m still confused about things and the story does feel underdeveloped (maybe just because it’s new), but I love the art style and the characters. Alma kind of reminds me of Itadori. I do feel like some things could’ve been drawn out more.
Like the first one, the art in Gokurakugai's second volume is incredible, expressive, and cute when appropriate. Plus, the story develops in intriguing ways - which is nice, because my sole qualm with the first volume was its lack of plot development.
I simply wish the chapters had more continuity between them. There IS continuity - I mean, some events in volume one are progressed here in volume two - but a few people from volume one haven't even returned yet (save for the instance in that fun bonus chapter).
Similarly to volume one, I purchased this digitally as an ebook, and I'd like to praise the amount of content included; there are the usual amount of chapters, but there's plenty of extra stuff, too. There's a bonus chapter, a prototype chapter from before the series officially began, a small gallery of art not seen in the main series, and two final pages of cute bonus comic. That's an exceptional amount of extras.
