Some playgrounds were never meant to be used again…
When Rebecca is called back to the quiet village of Oxendon to care for her injured mother, she brings Alicia and Rose along, hoping for a peaceful escape. But the sleepy Sussex countryside hides more than just old secrets.
While Rebecca tends to the house, the girls stumble upon the ruins of an abandoned school beside the village church – a crumbling building left to rot after a long-forgotten tragedy. At first, it seems like the perfect place to play.
Until the whispers begin.
An unseen force lingers in Oxendon School – watching, waiting, and ready to play its own twisted game. As the girls are pulled deeper into the building’s dark past, it becomes clear that something unnatural is trying to reach them. And it wants Rose most of all.
With her fragile connection to the spirit world growing stronger, Rose may be their only hope… if the truth doesn’t destroy them all first.
The Haunting of Oxendon School is the fourth chilling chapter in the Ghosts of Rose Radcliffe series, where every haunting is rooted in history, and even the smallest village hides something terrifying. Each book is a standalone story, but the spirits are always watching.
Amy Cross writes novels and short stories in a number of genres, mainly horror, paranormal and fantasy. Books include The Farm, Annie's Room, The Island, Eli's Town and Asylum.
The Haunting of Oxendon School is an eerie and engaging read that pulls you into its dark history from the very first chapter. The setting of the old school is wonderfully creepy, and the way the author builds tension makes you feel like you’re walking the halls yourself. The ghostly elements are chilling without being overdone, and the characters are well-drawn, making their fear feel real. It’s the kind of story that lingers in your mind after you’ve turned the last page. Perfect for fans of atmospheric hauntings and unsettling mysteries.
Wow, this was a brilliant addition to the story. The plot was beautifully written and extremely enjoyable. The character development throughout this book was fantastic (Jonathan's low-key is a dick and he gives me shitty vibes). Seeing Rose and alicia Bond was just beautiful. This was an overall fantastic book with a great plot and plenty of ghostly action-packed moments. I can't wait to dive into book 5 ✨️
I really enjoyed this story, as I do all of Amy Crosses books. I had this one pretty much figured out about 75% through, but still enjoyed it till I finished the story.
