Through the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, we are reminded that God remembers us and keeps His promises. Robert Morgan dives deep into Scripture around the birth of the Messiah and helps us discover the glorious, victorious life that awaits us in Christ.
The story of Zechariah and Elizabeth is often overlooked in the story of Christmas, as people jump right to Luke chapter 2, glossing over the importance of this elderly couple's story. The angel Gabriel announced to them that they would bear a son, John, who would prepare the way for the Lord Jesus. They were the original heroes, faithfully serving the Lord and studying His Hebrew Scriptures every day, when God burst into their lives and gave them the opportunity to set into motion the events triggering the first coming of Christ.
God has been planning something special for you for a long time! Maybe it feels as long as those 400 years between the Old and New Testaments, and you've grown weary of waiting for a Word from the Lord. Are you discouraged? Have you given up hope? As you examine closely the amazing story in Luke chapter 1, you will discover 24 God lessons that will impact your life, including how
God appointed you for this very time,God works grace into your grief,God wants to use you whatever your age,God can eradicate fear from your heart, andGod desire your help in raising up a new generation to serve him.
God intends to give you Spirit-filled life and a Christ-centered victory. He intends to use your preordained personality for His preordered purposes. Zechariah and Elizabeth want to tell us that God delights in sneaking up on His children with blessings unforeseen, with grace from above, so that we can experience a glorious, victorious life through Jesus.
This inspirational book is absolutely filled with scripture references you will want to note and ponder and rely on long after the book ends.
The overarching theme is to reassure readers that we are ever on the mind of God and he always keeps His promises. If you are a reader who is new to the love of Jesus Christ, these encouraging Words will immerse you in the miraculous birth of the Messiah while providing you with tools to discover the glorious, victorious life that awaits believers in Christ.
Robert Morgan focuses on the often overlooked story of Zechariah and Elizabeth. We tend to jump right to Luke chapter 2, glossing over the importance of this elderly couple's story. The angel Gabriel announced to them that they would bear a son, John, who would prepare the way for the Lord Jesus. This was an aged husband wife faithfully serving the Lord and studying His Hebrew Scriptures every day. Then God shocks them with news that sets into motion the events proceeding the first coming of Christ.
Like Zachariah and Elizabeth, God has been planning something special for you as He helps you through your grief and trying times. Be assured, He wants to use you no matter your age. Allow God to eradicate fear from your heart, and be His hands to help raise up a new generation to serve him.
God desires for you to live a Spirit-filled life and a Christ-centered victory. Revel in the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth and gracefully receive his blessings and grace from above, so you too can experience a glorious, victorious life through Jesus.
The audio version is read by the author himself and since he wrote the book, hud voice is filled with passion to convey God’s love for you! I enjoyed his Tennessee accent.
Truly grateful to have been blessed to receive the audiobook from NetGalley.
Robert J. Morgan is a master storyteller of his life and other people’s lives in the examples that he used. He narrated this audiobook, so it was refreshing to hear an audiobook portrayed exactly as the author envisioned it to be spoken, because he does it himself.
Most importantly, this book has been giving me daily reminders about God’s will for my own life, and that Jesus loves me so much from the time I was conceived, and that He knows and has planned my life until my last day here on earth. I have absolutely no reason to worry.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your constant reminders through these books.
Thank you again NetGalley and W Publishing Audiobooks for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
I loved receiving a copy of GOD HASN’T FORGOTTEN YOU by Robert J. Morgan in a recent Goodreads giveaway (Yes! People really do win those from time to time).
The 24 sections in this book detail the first chapter of Luke in the Bible which goes into the background and prophecy of the Messiah’s arrival. This doesn’t jump into the birth of Jesus, but rather deep dives into the Zechariah, Elizabeth, and John the Baptists role in connecting the Old Testament with the New.
Before the arrival of Jesus, the people of Israel had felt forgotten (similar to how many of us may feel in our life today). This book reflects on the verses of Luke Chapter 1 and how the life of Zechariah, Elizabeth, and John the Baptist relates to us and how we can find faith and truth in God’s promises for our own life with him.
Since it has 24 sections and details the preparation of Christ’s arrival, this would be an excellent option for anyone looking for a reflective reading this Advent and Christmas season.
“Just like Zechariah and Elizabeth, you were born at the right time and you are living at the right speed. It’s not too late to become what God intends for you. You’re alive in this crucial moment just before the Lord appears again.”
This was a fantastic read!!! The way I could FEEL the Holy Spirit while reading each page of this book was so comforting and inspiring. If you’re in a rut, and feel like you missed your calling or even if you need something to refresh you and remind you what the REAL purpose of life is- READ. THIS. BOOK. I love how the questions at the end of each chapter challenges you, and makes you think about how involved the Lord is into our every day lives.
I love how it goes into detail and informs us that every single thing that happens in our lives is for preparation of what God has called us to do.
“Your past doesn’t define you,but it does develop you- when entrusted to Christ”
I had a 37 week stillbirth in 2019, and I felt so lost, forgotten, and hopeless. I was so devastated. Upon reading this book, I learned that the author lost his wife the same year I lost my daughter- the way he handled his grief with so much strength, grace and faith is admirable. I wish I had that. The author is truly inspirational. It is so healing and motivational, so much encouragement is poured from the heart of the author.
I have over 70 highlights in this book, and I am not a highlight happy reader. There’s SO much to take away from this book that you will want to read it over and over again just so absorb all the knowledge and information given.
I love this book. It is one of my top Christian books and I will recommend it to anyone and everyone.
God Hasn't Forgotten You : 24 Remarkable Ways God Is Working in You and Through You by Robert J. Morgan is an excellent read that I could not put down. He covers the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth from Luke 1 who would conceive a child in their old age, John the Baptist, who would go on and be the "forerunner" for the Messiah Jesus Christ. The message is clear in the book that God has not forgotten us and can use us in any season of our lives no matter how young or old. The book is full of scripture, stories of real situations and how we can apply the truths of scriptures and lessons of real life situations to our lives in this day and age.
The book has 24 chapters that would be a great idea for a small group book read or maybe a daily devotional It is very clear, easy to understand, and full of so many beneficial truths of God's word. At the end of each chapter is a saying you can say out loud as an individual or group, and a few challenging, thoughtful questions on what you just read about. If you're a newer believer, its wonderful how this book isn't to heave on theology and easy to understand, yet full of great truths and challenges for seasoned believers who want a deeper dive.
Not much I did not like about the book. Like stated, I couldn't put the book down, but it is set up like a devotional which some would not like. Also, I would have liked to see more of a historical background on some of the characters talked about. Last thing, if you have read Morgan's books before, some topics and themes he covers may seem familiar from other reads.
Overall, Robert J. Morgan has written a very good book for all believer who want to remember that God has not forgotten them. I will go back and use this book as a devotional and plan on using it for a group of men I do a book club with.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this great book by Robert J. Morgan which offers an in-depth look at Zachariah and Elizabeth, a couple whose story I’ve previously only casually read over without much further thought. From their short story, Morgan derives twenty four God inspired lessons to help readers understand they have not been forgotten and the many ways He works in and through them.
Robert J. Morgan is one of my favorite non-fiction Christian authors of today. I always love the way he skillfully interweaves scripture, stories, and personal insights to help readers further understand the topic and this book is no exception. At the end of the book is an Appendix containing a sermon by the great Charles Haddon Spurgeon to further enhance the reader’s understanding. I highly recommend this insightful book to anyone seeking hope and encouragement and desiring to grow in their Christian walk.
Robert J. Morgan has created a great resource that is perfect for the Fall leading into the Christmas season. It’s not groundbreaking, but a good reminder of Biblical truths.
In “God Hasn’t Forgotten You”, Morgan writes that no book starts with Chapter Two. There is always Chapter One. In the story of the birth of Jesus, as recorded in Luke 2, the story actually begins in Chapter One with Zechariah and Elizabeth. They aren’t footnotes in the story of the Messiah. God actually uses them to teach us many different lessons. Morgan focuses on 24 of those lessons that remind us God hasn’t forgotten us, no matter where we are in life.
I loved listening to this wise and respected voice as he reads his own words in this audiobook.

I am not familiar with this author but the title grabbed my attention. In this book, “God Hasn’t Forgotten You”, the author covers the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth in Luke 1 who conceived a child in their old age, John the Baptist, who would go on and be the "forerunner" for the Messiah Jesus Christ. The message of this book that God has not forgotten us and can use us in any season of our lives no matter how young or old. The book is full of scripture, stories of real situations and how we can apply the truths of scriptures and lessons of real life situations to our lives.
I struggled listening to this audiobook at first but continued to listen eager to hear the message the author presents as he reads his own audiobook.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
Robert J Morgan never disappoints. I own and have read several of his books, and I come away from each reading with a renewed sense of hope and comfort--as well as being challenged to walk a little closer to Christ. This book is based primarily on the experiences of Zechariah and Elizabeth as they were childless in their advanced years. It must have felt as though God had indeed forgotten them. Morgan examines 24 different ways God was working in their lives, and applies them to our own situations today. I found this book easy to read and could have sailed through it, but I chose to go slower than I normally do because I didn't want to miss anything. Now that I have finished, I intend to go back through it with a highlighter to make sure I absorb as much of this wonderful book as possible.
