Fickle Hollywood ? . . .
** 2.5 Stars **
I have to say that BDSM is a total deal-breaker for me, so you won’t hear me raving about this one. Negative ranting, however, could erupt, but I’ll try to hold back. This story is about Cassandra Laverick with a popular internet show called “Check, Please!” and the well-known actor, Elias Flores. Her assistant, Marvin, is super-organized and keeps her on track. But when she is running late to begin her show, Marvin informs her the actress Chelsea, whom she is supposed to interview, is also late! Her producer Sherry joins them with more bad news that their competition is ahead of them in ratings and the numbers from his current episode are nearly lapping their latest.
Both Cass and Elias have their own problems and issues, but there is something that draws them together and seems to catch the attention of the public. The surprise is that Elias rarely has any luck with his relationships, with most of the public attention focused on his failures. But when Cass gets in the crossfire of a “Ruby” scandal and people turn against her, will she have to walk away for her own good?

Such a fun cute story. I loved how they met and how both just instantly clicked. I liked the dynamic of a famous actor and an influencer and how their life's are so public and trying to navigate a new relationship.

I have read two of Elle's other works and I must say, this must be one of my favorites. The story follows Cassandra, the head of a popular internet show where she takes her guests out on fakes dates, and Elias - a celebrity who eventually ends up on her show after a brief interaction at an awards show went viral.
I do enjoy Cassandra as a character and her quick wittiness, and Elias is honestly just along for the ride and enjoy Cassandra. And while Cassandra is typically used to holding the reins...when she hands them over to Elias things get very spicy and interesting. As always, Elle writes a MMC that has me wanting to be on my knees.
The story especially picked up when we got more of Cassandra's backstory and I think this was very impactful. There was a sort of third act breakup BUT the way that they mended this part of the relationship actually made sense to me (Elias - you do a good job). Additionally, both of these characters are flawed in their own ways and that's clear from the beginning of the story, and seeing them work through it was satisfying.
Overall I would recommend this book, and as always, it leaves me wanting to read more of what Elle writes.

This book is a fast-paced rom-com! This is my first book by Elle Lavendelle and I loved it! I love the tropes and their meet-cute. There is a third act breakup later but I loved their banter and their spicy scenes. This is one of those books that I wish was an actual movie. I’m so glad I picked it up from Booksprout! I sped through this book, I didn’t want it to end!

THE MAN THAT ELIAS IS!!!! He is literally going on my list of top book boyfriends. But can we talk about the BANTER between Elias and Cassandra—the jokes, the flirting 🥵🥵🥵 like can Elias be real 😭😭. Now, I haven't read an FMC like Cassandra in a while. She says what she wants, and consequences be damned. She is the perfect fit for Elias. I LOVE THEM TOGETHER SO MUCH!!!
N – Narrative Style: ★★★★☆
Elle girl, your writing 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Elle's writing has the perfect mix of witty banter and personalization of the two main characters. Like I don't know if she meant like that but once the POV shifted I definitely could tell the difference when she was writing Elias vs Cassandra. It definitely was worrying in the beginning, feeling like there wasn't any depth to Cassandra's character. As the story goes on, you learn more about her and that she is more than the character she puts on as an interviewer. When I tell you, I love the way you show us that Cassandra is more than we originally thought.
G – Gripping Ending: ★★★★★

Ok, so when I started reading this I thought uh oh I picked dud, but I stuck with it. I am soooo glad I did. The chemistry between Cass and Elias is sweet and hot all at the same time. The relationship was more realistic than I thought it would be with lust, worries, doubts, second guessing yourself, confidence and love. Such a surprising and fun read! Highly recommend!!.

This is one of those times where the cover is a touch misleading because this book is spicy. Not to say it's a bad thing.
I enjoyed the story as a whole. There was something about it that made me not *love* it all the way. Still a solid 3.5 when it comes to books. I'll have to give future Elle books a try.

I really liked this book
Elias and Cass have great chemistry and I loved how they just seemed to click intstantly. Cass is a really funny character and her sense of humour gives the book a rom com vibe but still surprisingly deep.

This is an entertaining fake dating Hollywood romance book that holds your attention captive from beginning to end. The storyline is intriguing as the elements unfold. The characters are well written with steamy chemistry together. I enjoyed.

This book was fantastic! I could hardly put it down. Elias and Cass are couple goals. I love how sweet he is to her— everywhere except the bedroom where he’s not nice in the best way possible. The spice level was perfect. I’m going to go read her other books now.

November 29, 2024I tried to finish this book on three separate occasions, but it just never stuck with me. Elias was kind of a jackass and I really tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. He just never really got better. The entire thing came off as an early gen wattpad book that was written in a week.

This was a super cute, quick read and I couldn’t put it down! I feel like the relationship and characters moved waaaay fast which was my only downside. It felt like a chunk of the story was missing. Aside from that though, I did enjoy it a lot!

This was super interesting. It was a good read, it was exactly what i needed to get over my book fog. It was really spicy but still had a good story.
