What can I say? This book was everything I needed in my life, gripping characters with real emotions that left me feeling giddy.
Em has written a debut novel that speaks to the soul of women, from finding yourself, travelling and some not so vanilla spice, it’s a woman in her 20’s wet dream.
I would literally lay on the road in front of a bus for Carter and Lara, they’re ride or die and their chemistry on the page leaped off and I felt it in my body.
This is a MUST READ!! AND I MEAN IT

☆☆☆☆.5/☆☆☆☆☆

“As much as I’d like to humour you, love, no I don’t; I was just raised right. A woman should never be made to walk on the side closest to the road.”

Book Description:
Lara Matthews had her life planned out from a young age - score her dream job, marry her dream man, have two babies, and be living happily ever after by the time she hit her mid-twenties. Desperate for a fresh start, Lara takes a leap of faith when she moves to the other side of the world. London seems like the perfect place to find herself again, until she crosses paths with a mystery man in a suit and a spanner is thrown in the works.

Review:
I was very much looking forward to reading Em’s debut novel from the moment she announced she was writing it. I thoroughly enjoyed From London, With Love. Carter and Lara have a little bit of a loathe to love situation when Lara moves to London from Australia and starts working at the local book store, she and Carter have a little banter about their choice of literature (spoiler alert, I’m on team Lara). Their banter continues throughout the entirety of the book and I loved it. They genuinely had me laughing out loud. Carter’s love for his family was one of my favourite parts of the book. He wasn’t afraid to show how he felt about his family or Lara. Lara has a lot of growth throughout the book and I really liked reading the development. It was a genuine representation (in my opinion) of what some women go through. Lara doesn’t feel that she is where she ‘should be’ in life and you see her journey going through this. I really enjoyed the relationship between Harper, Mia and Lara. I LOVED how they met via Bookstagram. They were real girls girls. LOVE.

This book is for the bookstagram girlies. There are SO many references to so many authors and books we know and love.

The romance in this book felt real. It wasn’t an instant love situation, they got to know each other and I really loved that.

You got to know all the characters and the snippets of the other characters had me wanting to read about them as well. I have my fingers and toes crossed that Teddy is going to get his own book.

I loved how Em joined the British and Aussie content. Plus, he calls her love.

I really recommend this book if you are looking for a nice romance that will make you feel good, I didn’t want to put it down.

“It can’t be certain how long I’ve sat here; it could’ve been two minutes or twenty. Time always seems to warp where Lara is involved, regardless of whether she’s physically here or if I’m merely thinking of her. The latter has become increasingly more frequent, which both concerns and excites me.”

OMG!!!! This book started off my year perfectly! I am OBSESSED! This had me hooked from the start! This debut novel was everything and more!😍 THESE CHARACTERS ARE MY NEW FAVOURITES!!!!! The girls friendship had my heart 🥹 The messages in this book connected with me on a whole other level, I adored the romance but seeing the family issues, the hardships - it captivated me from the beginning 🤍

“To anyone who may look at their life and think, ‘This isn’t where I thought I’d be.’ You don’t have to have it all figured out just yet.”

Lara Matthews, you have my whole heart. The journey she went on throughout this book felt so relatable, I connected with her from the very start and I was rooting for her all the way through 🥹 I loved how real she was. Lara is HOT! I love everything about Australia and I’m so IN LOVE with Lara and her sarcasm! I couldn’t get enough of the banter!

Carter Lawrence, my new man crush!!!! I’m so obsessed with him 😍 He also felt so real and relatable with his hardships. I loved seeing the walls being broken down, it felt natural and Carter had me in a chokehold!!! I loved his character so much and I know you’re all going to love him 🤭 His banter, his skills just made him extremely HOT! I’m so attached to those characters 🥹

Everything about this book has me obsessed! The girlhood in this book made me want to be in the group 🥹 I loved how supportive they were for each other, and let me just say THE TROPES!!!!! Favourite quotes -

“If you think we’re finished, Lara, you’ll soon find yourself to be very mistaken.”

“I’ve never encountered someone like her; we couldn’t be more different. Yes, she’s beautiful, that much is obvious, but we’re complete opposites if you ask me.”

“There will only ever be you.”

“You make it impossible for me to even look at another woman, Lara, let alone consider touching one. There is only you.”

It’s times like these I’m reminded of how well this girl really knows me. It goes to show time is only a number. Someone who’s known you for less than two years can learn to know you better than someone who’s known you your entire life.

First and foremost, Carter Lawrence is the DEFINITION of swoonworthy 😩😍

What a debut this was!! Em, thank you for allowing me to arc read this book, I absolutely adored it!! This book feels like it was MADE for the book girls, I mean all the romance book references?? Amazing!! An MMC who's immediately and hopelessly gone for the FMC from moment one?? 😭 a mirror scene?? 🥵 this book makes me want to go back to London to find me a British man (third times a charm right?).
This book really did check all my boxes. Lara, originally from Australia, makes a bold decision and decides to move across the world to London to live with her two best friends, Mia and Harper. Their dynamic was the best and the bonding over spicy books? 🤌🏻🤌🏻 she starts a job at a bookstore where she one day meets Carter (or Mr. Darcy as she calls him at first). He's taken with her immediately and the way they tease each other was just perfection. Feeling unfulfilled, she finds herself looking for a new job and she lands a job as an executive assistant. The CEO in question? Mr. Darcy, or Carter Lawrence. The tension between these two is off the charts and they agree to have a “casual relationship”. It's far from what Carter wants but Lara is protecting herself. Carter was the sweetest man oh my gosh, giving her his jacket when she was cold, the SIDEWALK RULE! Lara was relatable, as someone who's questioned what they're doing in life multiple times, I loved her. She was strong and fiery.
Things grow hotter between the two as Lara struggles with the idea of something real and being okay with not knowing her next step in life.

I cannot wait for the next book!!!

ARC review🤍 From London, With Love is Em’s debut novel and boy what a debut this was, I loved it so much! The perfect, cute romance to start of my 2025!

I loved how relatable the characters were. I am Lara and she is me. this touched on some very real fears/concerns I feel we go through in our 20’s, granted I’m only in my early 20’s all the fears Lara has is how I’m feeling at the moment, so this book couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

This book is for the book girlies, and I feel we can all relate to these characters , the book references in this were my FAV, and is this not every book girls dream meet-cute IN A LITTLE BOOKSTORE. The scenes in the bookstore were some of my favourites.

“The only men who are intolerant of open-door romance novels are those who are intimidated by them.”

Em’s writing was so good, the tension and banter had be giggling so many times, then the next sentence my jaw would be on the floor, the god damn MOUTH ON THIS MAN. Boy oh boy, Mr Carter Lawrence ladies, the definition of the perfect man, or as he so humbly put it - his ‘skills are the blueprint for fictional men,’

Let’s not forget our girls Harper and Mia, I have always loved the female friendships in books and these 3 together were the best. I want to be apart of their group now!

Maybe I’m going about life wrong, I need to move to the UK and find my very own Mr Darcy🥰

Thank you so much Em for entrusting me with an ARC of this, grateful to have met you through booksta🥹 I have loved watching your writing journey from the beginning and so excited to continue watching you grow and all the other stories you have🤭

this book was written for the book girlies and no one can convince me otherwise 🥹🫶🏻 i mean, they have their meet-cute in a bookstore, she met her besties through bookstagram and there’s so many book references sprinkled throughout the whole story!!

lara & carter’s relationship dynamic had me grinning hard and giggling over their banter and sarcastic remarks <3 i love them sm

++ besties, he calls her ‘love’ (i feel it’s also important to note that he’s british, which boosts this nickname x1000 simply for the accent) and if that doesn’t have you automatically swooning, i don’t know what will hehe

From London, With Love is Em Hardy's debut novel and I loved it!
I loved that Lara was so relateable with her love for smutty romance books!!
I loved her girl gang - Harper and Mia!
It was so brave of Lara to move from her home in Australia half way across the world to London!!
When she meets Carter it was soooo cute that their meet cute was in a bookstore!!!!!
She initially doesnt know Carter's name so calls him Mr Darcy and I LOVED THAT SO MUCH!
I won't give anything else away but she ends up working as Carter's assistant and OMG the sexual tension between the two of them was HOT!
Overall, an amazing book 4.5 stars from me!

Lara Matthews & Carter Lawrence are absolutely bringing the HEAT in this book 🥵

Firstly, I want to say a big congratulations to Em Hardy on this brilliant DEBUT novel! You have absolutely smashed this out of the park & upon reading this for the first time without context you would never even know it was your first, you’re a natural!

This book was such an easy read, it flowed, it kept me interested, it had me laughing & even a little flushed from time to time…. IYKYK! The banter/sass between this lot was fantastic & the spice, mm mm mm 😘👌🏼 perfection.

Lara Matthews has dreamt of her future from a very young age, but when she finds herself in her 20s still hanging around Australia dating useless men & wishing her life would just start already she realises that maybe it is time for a shakeup. Thanks to her two online besties, she has the chance to spread her wings, to explore & grow, & all from a new city… all the way on the other side of the world.

With a fresh start comes a new job, new places & new experiences… & let’s just say, you never know what or more so who could walk in the door 👀

If you’re looking for all things Sarcasm & Spice with a side of Suits, then you’ve come to the right place because Em Hardy is your gal! 🔥

Ahh I really really really loved reading this book!! I’ve just finished the book and my brain is still processing it but holy moly I really enjoyed this book.

Firstly I adored the little mentions of some of my other favourite books throughout the story.

As someone who was born in England and now lives in Brisbane, it was cool that both places were involved in Carter and Lara’s story.

The characters in the book were so loveable, even the side characters! I would love to be friends with the girls in this story :) I need all of the side characters stories 🤭

From London, With Love by EM Hardy
4,5/5⭐
2,5/5🌶️

"I decide anything with this woman, no matter how limited, is better than the prospect of nothing at all."

I was genuinely surprised by this book—in a wonderful way! EM Hardy's debut is such a gem. Honestly, I initially signed up for the ARC just because of that stunning cover, but I'm so glad I did because the story inside is just as beautiful. It’s cozy, funny, sweet, and romantic, and what made me fall in love with it is how much I relate to the FMC. I see a lot of myself in her and her struggles, especially dealing with the trauma of growing up in a broken home. Also, this book has my favorite meet-cute ever!

"Nothing is a game to me where you're concerned."

Lara lives in Australia with her brother and mom, and she had everything mapped out for her life from a young age. However, as the years go by, she notices that most of her friends are starting families, and she feels stuck in a mundane job, still single. Finally, she decides to take the plunge and move to London to live with her friends Mia and Harper, who she met online through their shared love of reading spicy romance books. In London, Lara lands a part-time job at a cute bookstore and meets a guy who challenges her book preferences. They end up with this fun back-and-forth banter that sparks between them. One day, she is hired as the new assistant CEO and discovers he’s her boss!

Carter is stepping in as the new CEO after his father steps down, and his family's law firm is always under the media’s watchful eye. What I love most about Carter is his loyalty and deep love for his family. He’s willing to go to great lengths for them, even if it might not look great for him. Plus, his back-and-forth with Lara is hilarious—the tension between them is electrifying!

"There's yet to be a day since we first met where I haven't thought about you."

Watching Lara grow throughout the book is such a treat. I felt so connected to her journey. Her friendship with Mia and Harper is fantastic, and I couldn’t help but wish I could join in on their adventures. I loved how Lara gradually opened up to Carter, and their communication was on point—thankfully, there was no third-act breakup to worry about!

This book is an absolute delight, and I can't wait to see what EM Hardy has in store next. There are a few side characters I love, and I’d be excited to read their stories someday. Huge thanks to EM Hardy for the gifted eARC!

Did I enjoy this book? THATS A MASSIVE YES! What a book to start my year off with! And it’s a debut novel! Congrats Em on a magnificent masterpiece! Lara and Carter are just so meant to be, I was obsessed with them from the get go!

This story follows Lara as she moves her life from Australia to London, where she moves in with her two book besties. Finding a new job, she finds herself in the company of the infuriating, but devilishly handsome Oxford Street Playboy, Carter Lawrence who just so happens to be the CEO of the law firm she has applied for, she just doesn’t know it yet!

Can I just say, I want to be Lara so dammmmn bad! She is hot, spicy, funny and all round adorable! I feel like in a certain way I relate so much to her! One of my closest best friends lives on the other side of the world in the UK and I am from Australia, I have daddy issues and I love a good spicy book!

And Mr Carter Lawrence… I didn’t know I liked a man in a suit so much! His banter skills are next level too! Who doesn’t love a goofy, funny man! And let’s not forget her rides a motorbike, like how much more hot can this guy get! The way his character developed from start to finish was incredible, he not only grew in himself but grew for his family and Lara!

I want to make a special mention to the book besties in this book! Mia and Harper were so special in this and I just loved them so much! Not only did they accept Lara into their friendship, but supported her through all her decisions. I’m so lucky to have found my Harper and Mia in my book girlies xx

The relationships, the spice, the plot, the timing, everything was perfect!

ARC REVIEW

Lara, struggling with the lack of put together of her life, and the feeling of being trapped. She books a one-way ticket to London from Brisbane to go and live with her bookstagram friends, who are in need of a roommate. Carter, new CEO of his father law firm who is in desperate need of an assistant due to struggling a little to keep up with the workload due to his mind being preoccupied by a certain woman.

The irony of Carter hating paper porn but him being the definition both on paper (literally) and in the eyes of Lara, paper porn. It just so funny ever time he complains about contemporary romance books. There is a lot of references to actual real life contemporary romance within the book, so even used to describe Carter himself.

I love the relationship Carter has with his family, it refreshing to see a MMC who has a good relationship with both his parents and siblings. The fact his family are meddlers is funny, trying to get him a girlfriend by trying to set him up with any woman with a pulse.

The dynamic between Carter and Lara was great. The back-and-forth bickering shows the relationship development from Lara’s side (Carter’s loved her since the moment he saw her). I loved the email exchange between them. Carter changing his title in every email to match the email he has sent, was truthfully my favourite part of the book. You got to see the true Lara, not the face she put on for everyone to protect herself. Carter shows Lara so much respect and due to that she her walls come down and she allows herself to fall in love with Carter.

ARC review on From London, With Love

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book made me feel all my feelings when reading Em Hardy's debut novel, 'From London with Love.' I really felt connected with the FMC Lara and her friends Mia and Harper, who also have a love and passion for books. Adding onto that, Em mentions Bookstagram and trending books by famous authors, which was the first time seeing it used in a book, which I really enjoyed. The use of modern pop culture made the story more lively as I could relate to what was said.

I had a blast living through Lara as she was living in London with her besties, as so far I've yet to travel there, and this made me feel more looking forward to visiting one day. Our MMC Carter, or should I say Mr. Darcy, is going to be your next book boyfriend in 2025! He is such a caring and loving guy, which we all need in our lives. Their first encounter was so worth the wait! Em's writing is so good when it comes to the build-up and those angst and tension scenes we all love in our romance books!

Definitely check out this debut on 8th January, as you'll be hooked and swooned right from the first chapter! I'm excited to see what more books you've got in store, as I'll surely be reading them. Thank you, Em Hardy, for the opportunity to ARC read your debut! All opinions in this review are my own!

From London, With Love is Em Hardy’s debut novel and I was so happy to support a fellow Aussie.

Lara is feeling a bit lost in her life in Brisbane, Australia and wanting a change. Her 2 bookstagram friends (Mia and Harper) invite her to come and stay with them in London and she decides to make the change.

She is working in a bookstore when Carter walks in and makes an impression on her. From the beginning there is chemistry and sparks fly as he visits her store every Tuesday.

She eventually lands herself the job of his executive assistant without realising he is her new boss until she arrives on her first day and they become even closer.

Lara finds it hard to trust after an event in her family’s past caused her not to put her faith in the opposite sex. Carter falls for her first and has to find a way to break down her barriers and show her it’s more than just the chemistry and spice.

I love seeing an Aussie moving overseas and starting a new life for herself and meeting the guy who shows her that some guys are worth it.

This is a beautifully written, sweet romance story about making changes in your life and following your heart even if there’s the risk it may be broken.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance with spice, humour and found family.

3.5⭐️Thank you Em Hardy for this e-Arc in exchange for an honest review.

If you liked T.L. Swan's Mr Masters, this is perfect for you (just the MMC is a rake and not a single dad).
There was instant chemistry between Lara x Carter, which to me, escalated rather quickly as they start off as strangers. I liked how the spice was spaced our through the book, they tease each other, but there isn't a full spice scene until 80% of the way through.

I liked Lara's courage to move all the way from Australia to London to find herself. Some of the things she says about herself, just felt true and realistic for a lot of people. Wanting to have more in life, unsure about their jobs, if they want kids or not. I don't see this talked about a lot in books.

Carter is not the player you think. He is a sweetie and is the best uncle to Winnie. The best brother to Emmy and Teddy! Their sibling banter was hilarious.

*spoiler!*
and then the little twist that turns out HE is the BROTHER of her BEST FRIEND!

Reason for 4 star... I am just sick of books with book girlies... it's a little annoying these days and books with this trope tend to be rather similar with each other. And when Lara got a new part time job (unless I didn't read it thoroughly, what happened to her job at the bookshop?)

Thank you Em Hardy for sending me an arc of this book in exchange for a honest review ✨️

Lara is feeling trapped so she books a one way ticket to London from Brisbane to go and live with her friends from bookstagram. Carter, the new CEO of his father's law firm is desperate to find an assistent to keep up with the workload and him being to preoccupied by Lara.

𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:

First of all, congrats Em to your debut Novel. It's such an honor to get the chance to read an arc of it.

Lara Matthews, such a sweet and funny character. She felt so relatable and I felt such a connection to her. She felt real. I love her sarcasm. I love her love for books.

Carter Lawrence, I loved seeing all his walls being broken down. His banter, his skills (🥵). Carter had such a beautiful relationship with his family. And I love how his family is trying to find a girlfriend for him.

I really liked Carter and Lara's relationship and their journey in the book. I also loved the email exchange between the two of them. I'm a huge fan of the London settings in this book because I've been waiting for something like this.

If you enjoy these tropes down below you will love this book. I really recommend it.

Was I one of the lucky few selected to read the ARC of this wonderful book? I sure was! So, let's dive straight in...

Em, your writing is absolutely beautiful. The descriptions leave me completely satisfied and able to paint a complete picture in my imagination of what each character, place and scene looks like. I actually couldn't quite believe this was your first ever novel, your words come across as those from a seasoned writer, just utter seamlessness.

From London, With Love is getting 5 stars from me, and here's why: Plot, Characters, Spice. 3 little words that sum up everything I loved about this book.

Lara, Lara, Lara. What an enchanting female protagonist she is. Sure of herself but vulnerable enough to relate to, Em, you found the perfect balance of heroine and princess. Her witiness and sarcasm had me beaming from chapter to chapter, and then her vulnerability and softness would flood the pages and her arc would turn upside down. I don't know how you did it but you made her relatable and unrelatable at the same time... and I love that!

Mr Darcey... or should I say Carter? Em, unfortunately I will never forgive you for writing this man into existence, because now I am going to spend the rest of my days yearning and searching for a male species that is even half as enamouring as he is. In each of his chapters I felt such a warmth come over me, his POV's were simply stunning. He was just the right balance of kind, cheeky and domineering. And yes, you're right... all women love a man in a suit!

As for Mia & Harper... all I want is more! Please Em, I beg of you! These two, paired with Lara, make for the perfect threesome. They reminded me so much of myself and my friends. Reading the scenes that was just them, their sofa and wine was like the biggest, warmest hug imaginable and I just hope and pray we see more of them in the future.

Hold on to your hats girls because this one is spicy! CEO x Assistant was a trope I hadn't explored until this novel, but BOY! I've been missing out! From the slow-burn flirting, to the stockroom scene (which probably caught me off-guard as much as it did Lara lol!), and back to slow-burn... this book was basically 340 pages of edging with some releases in-between, and I LOVED it!!

Overall, watch out world, because we've got the makings of a best-selling author on our hands here! Em, please please please tell Mia and Harper's stories, I BEG of you!! This book was absolutely outstanding and you have an award-winning series on your hands here in my opinion. Thank you Em, for choosing me to ARC read your debut novel. It has been nothing short of wonderful and I can't wait to see what awaits you in the future, and I hope to be right by your side, page after page to watch you succeed! xx

4.5 ⭐️ (rounded up)

What a fun book! It had a really good mixture of sweet and spicy but the plot still held really strong which made it really enjoyable for me. The banter between Lara and Carter was phenomenal! And the tension between these two was *chefs kiss*. The romance and comedy were a great balance and made for an overall entertaining book!

I really enjoyed the realistic issues that the characters had to overcome. This helps me be able to relate to the characters a lot better and I really enjoyed this aspect in the book. There was also some fun little surprises within the book that I enjoyed and the maturity and communication throughout the book was both great and refreshing!

You’ll enjoy this book if you like:
•Work Place Romance
•British MMC
•Set in London
•Only One Bed
•Dual POV

I’d like to thank Em Hardy for the advance review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you like sweet romance with a little bit of spice this is for you. This one was written for the booksta babes with all the fun references to other books in it - My fave the Lane Collin’s cocktail! And to have book besties like Lara, Mia and Harper is the dream.

Carter nearly failed the book boyfriend test with his dislike of smut in books however any time an English man calls a girl love I’m sold (not me over here picturing Niklaus Mikaelson 🤤).

I loved all the sarcasm and sass oh and the office emails….Carter’s email signatures had me laughing out loud.

Read this is you love ~
