"I thought mythology was boring. BOY WAS I WRONG! These timeless tales make Marvel look like Saturday morning cartoons. I just found out Loki once turned into a female horse and gave birth to an 8-legged super-horse that Odin rides. WHAT?! And don't get me started on Zeus - that god put every player to shame. Now I finally understand why Kratos is so angry in God of War. The Egyptian section blew my mind too - did you know they had a god whose job was literally to eat the hearts of the wicked? The Celtic warrior queen Medb started a war over a bull that makes Game of Thrones look re

World Mythology is a compilation of four mythology guides in one volume, covering Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Celtic mythology. Each section explores the creation of the world according to its respective mythology and introduces notable gods, goddesses, and legendary beings tied to those belief systems.
The book includes artwork scattered throughout, but the illustrations are AI-generated.
Unfortunately, the inconsistency in art styles was distracting, and I would have preferred photographs of real sculptures, ancient art, or classical paintings to better represent the mythological figures and concepts.
The formatting also didn’t quite work for me, making the reading experience feel less engaging than it could have been.
In terms of content, there are interesting highlights, particularly in the Norse mythology section. The book notes that Loki, despite often being associated with chaos and calamity, is not portrayed as purely malevolent in many myths, but doesn't elaborate on it besides one example being his cleverness and quick thinking sometimes aid the gods, and the book briefly mentions his role as the mother of Sleipnir, Odin’s eight-legged steed, one of the more intriguing details included. I found myself wishing the book explored more facts like this with greater depth about the other beings mentioned.
Similarly, figures such as Sigrun are introduced with backstories about her lover’s death, her vengeance, and grief, but these stories feel summarized rather than fully explored.
World Mythology serves as a broad introductory reference across multiple mythological traditions. It’s a decent starting point for readers new to mythology, but those looking for deeper exploration, richer storytelling, or more traditional visual representations may find it lacking.
It also comes with free audio book which sounds fine. My issue is I've read beginner mythology books before, so maybe I went in expecting to learn more nuggets other than the ones that hook you in from the books description.
This book turns old legends into wild, binge-worthy stories. Phoenix Bard makes Greek gods, Viking warriors, Egyptian curses, and Celtic queens feel like action stars. No boring lectures—just straight-up fun, fast reads that explain all the crazy stuff behind your favorite movies and games. It's perfect for beginners who want myths without the snooze.
This book is about Greek,Celtic, and Norse beliefs. If you love books about mythology you would find this book very interesting like I did. This is a great book for beginners it’s easy to read and simplified for beginners.
