Yaay this volume was a lot better than the first one! It had a lot more going on like more story and character development, and more world building. It read like an anime and it was was pretty intriguing and I really want the next volume now!
Something I really like about this series is the artwork. I love the art style and I am in looovovveveeee with a lot of the character designs. This factor alone contributes to my love of this series a LOT.
Look at them!!! I love themmmmmmmm. But the whole first volume I imagined the girl on the cover's hair to be red. :X Whoops. She and the grey haired girl in the front and the one in the back with the black pompoms are my favourites.
As with the first volume, I use the 3-star rating as Goodreads defined it - to mean I "liked" the book as opposed to "really liked" or "loved" it. Some people think it's a low rating, but I don't think it's that bad. "Liked" is still a positive thing.
I enjoy the crew's character designs very much (especially Chihaya Gunzou, who looks so plain but is really quite extraordinary). I also liked that they actually provide an explanation for why all of the Fog entities take on female forms. Finally, it's interesting to see how the the pros and cons of developing a self become apparent.
Mental model of ships in the form of girls. Some concepts about the artificial intelligence used in the story are quite interesting (I am currently reading another book exactly about it).
