“Hey!... I'm still good meat! I'm perfectly good meat! I taste fine!
I was excited to read another Simon Ward making-of book, given that his deep dives on Moon and Snow Piercer were already on my shelf, along with Kong Island, Alien Covenant, and Okja. This is his third book, exploring the films of Oscar-winning filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, for the long-awaited film adaptation of “Mickey7,” the 2022 science fiction novel by Edward Ashton. The book and the film dovetail perfectly, with the interwoven and complex filming and production process laid bare through new images, interviews, and artwork. This is the definitive tome on the making of the film, which has all the hallmarks of becoming a future cult classic. After reading the book, I felt compelled to dive back into the film, perhaps for another 17 times!
