The Anti-Hero: Roman - he is a serial killer who gets off on the taking of lives. He grew up in foster care and at a very young age he tried to cut of the hands of one of his foster brothers. Though he never told anyone that the reason he did it was because the boy was torturing the family pets. He was diagnosed with Psychopathy, but early on he learned how to mimic others' emotions and knew how to act normal and show therapists what they wanted to see.
The heroine: Isla - she grew up in the inner city, to parents that didn’t want her and never showed love or affection. She probably had some sort of attachment disorder, since she always had trouble making and keeping friends. She was a waitress in a crappy diner who lived paycheck to paycheck, never making enough to improve her life in the slightest.
The story: one night after his most recent kill, Roman stops in at the diner where Isla works, and he is astonished when he sees her. She is the first person to make him feel anything different than the urge to kill. He figures he has to get to the bottom of why she makes him feel so different, so he starts to stalk her. Following her home that very night and often breaking into her apartment to watch her sleep.
I usually really like books about serial killers finding love, but this one was simply crazy for the sake of being crazy. I did like the fact that Isla turned the tables on Roman, but I don’t really like it when the heroine is as crazy as the guy stalking her. This one was all that and a bag of chips. This was also a short story, only 132 pages, but I didn’t really want it to be any longer than that. It wasn’t bad, but I just wanted to relate to at least one of the characters and I did not.

Jenika Snow’s latest release is a twisted romance, and I loved every 132 pages of it. Readers are introduced to Roman, a unique individual with a dark childhood that has made him who he is. And Isla is the one he has his sights on. But this romance is a twisted one, and what I liked about it wasn’t just the actions that were twisted or the characters that were twisted, but the unorthodox love they had for each other was also twisted. Jenika detailed this story down to the sounds things made. It felt as if I was there in the room. As dark as the story was, I enjoyed this one.

This book lives up to the title!! The bouquet Roman gave Isla was so creepy yet fitting. He is a deranged psycho and is obsessed with Isla. Read the trigger warnings if you pick up this book.

Pretty good stalker story about a serial killer that is unusually interested in his next “mark”, only he’s not so sure he wants to kill her….
I like dark psychopath characters so I enjoyed that aspect, plus the story was mostly all spice scenes.
Besides that, the plot was meh, plus we didn’t get enough information about the 2 MC to care about them. Yes, it’s smut so it doesn’t really matter, but we usually get enough background to care/ feel something for the characters, yet not in this case….
We really know nothing about them except their names…..
Like why a serial killer and how are they picked and how does this guy survive (job? Money? where does he live?).
Why does the FMC job hop from one bad job to the next, and does she have friends or anyone in her life?
How do they not get caught, especially at one point it mentions someone sees/ follows the MMC during a kill- what was that plot line even about- it went no where….

I was absolutely blown away with this story. I love Jenika and this story was no exception. It was everything the title and TW said it would be. Roman is psychotic, absolutely zero emotions and feelings unless it is to unalive people. He has zero regret with the individuals he chooses but he does tend to pick more deserving humans, not for his own sanity but so it looks more acceptable to the outside world. Isla has always felt, different. She is barely living, working at diners to make ends meet and living in pretty shady spaces. She is just trying to get through day to day without incident and under the radar. She has never really fit in with anyone and just finds herself floating.
Enter Roman, he goes to her diner after his most recent victim and he is immediately drawn to Isla. He is confused and rather upset that he is this drawn to her as he is never drawn to anyone. Other than having the need to stalk, hunt and unalive someone he never finds any attraction to other individuals. He needs to know why he is so immediately taken with Isla and why he doesn’t feel the need to unalive her. As he is watching her work she is assaulted by a customer which makes her react and get fired. This only serves to increase Roman’s infatuation with Isla. He is used to stalking his prey and enjoys the hunt so he proceeds to stalk Isla. He is still trying to figure out if she is just another one of his victims or something else entirely.
I read this book so fast! I love dark and unhinged and this was everything I was looking for. It was like an insta love but for the dark reader fans. They are both drawn to each other in ways they cannot explain and their love is so toxic yet so beautiful. I enjoyed this story but really would not mind a follow up! In the epilogue we get a hint of what they can do together and although these two would terrify me in real life I loved them as my book characters. I need more of their story together, hunting, stalking and dealing the final blow!

Roman isn’t a good man. He craves the evil that lurks within. He gets off on those that he kills. When he spots a waitress in a grease spoon diner, he can’t understand the feels he is having. No one has ever affected him like this. Nothing ever came easy for Isla. Her waitress job at a dive diner isn’t worth it. As she is leaving the place, she feels someone watching her.
This is a dark story. If you aren’t into falling down a dark rabbit hole, you may want to stay clear. I have to say it’s like reading a horror story. You aren’t sure if this will get messy or there will be a happy ending. Ok, yes, there is a happy ending of sort. Roman and Isla are broken. I am not going to say more. Reading about their lives growing up, you will see what I mean. It was creepy at times and yet I just couldn’t put the book down. I needed to know if things would go sideways or not. Parts made me cringe and others surprised. Jenika you definitely made one for those who are on the edge.

I loved this the second I started it, can’t go wrong with a serial killer that kills bad people, and sure it’s for his own sexual gratification, but it’s BAD people, so it’s fine🫣
Isla is a strong woman, doesn’t take shit from no one and I love that about her. She’s incredibly brave and curious and she’s got some guts to just approach the man stalking her.
Holy shit was this book good, the smut was incredible and I loved the tropes that were used. The sexual chemistry between Roman and Isla was insane. Literally made for each other. I mean, couples that kill together stay together right?
Overall, I absolutely LOVED this. Although it was a short read, I read it so quickly, I was obsessed! I definitely recommend for people that like dark romance/erotica but please check content/trigger warnings first.

This book/series is definitely not for every reader, but if you are like me and embrace the dark (And I do mean DARK!), scoff at boundaries and often crave something way beyond the typical, you are going to thoroughly enjoy this tantalizing read. Roman is a absolutely a bad, bad man and Isla is his brand new, unexpected obsession. Their story will have you on the edge of your seat as you wonder what is going to happen and leave you stunned by the twists when they hit you.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this novella , Jenika Snow is one of those authors I can trust to write an obsessed, deranged hero. Of course in this book they both were and I just loved it. The spice was hot, albeit disturbing in some parts but I'm not complaining.. I wonder if we will see these characters again as this series goes on .

The title rings true. this book was definitely unhinged. Much darker than other Jenika Snow books but I enjoyed it just the same. quick little read. Check content warnings before reading. Stalking, Obsession, Murder, Blood play, etc. Plenty of other things. I enjoyed how Isla wasnt a damsel in distress,not that theres anything wrong with a damsel in distress. I just like the change. I like how she was crazy too.

Dark, dirty and twisted
Very fast paced story about two twisted characters finding their other half and their happily ever after. Definitely dark and twisted so you've been warned. Plus we all know this author lists the triggers. More of a twisty ride rather than a story with depth. Good read though.
Very fast paced story about two twisted characters finding their other half and their happily ever after. Definitely dark and twisted so you've been warned. Plus we all know this author lists the triggers. More of a twisty ride rather than a story with depth. Good read though.

WOW.
This left me a little speechless. It was sick and twisted and hot and fucked up. It was short, but I don’t feel like there are any gaps in the story. It’s well written, and the author doesn’t give any unnecessary information that she doesn’t follow back up on. I never thought I’d enjoy such a short book so much.

The book was good I loved that the female was a strong lead and was just as coo coo as he was. But ONE THING really kinda made me a little off, I wouldn’t say a yuck but more of a ehhh OKAY if that’s what you wanna call it out of all the words you could use the word “spunk” was used for male juices and i don’t know. It didn’t sit well with me😅

There’s only one problem….
And that problem is…. It’s not long enough!! Granted, she fit a LOT in a short book it has SO much potential to be even better had she made it longer. Other than that it was honestly pretty good. I’d definitely reccomend it if you don’t mind a short read.
