The bestselling author of The Land of Stories and A Tale of Magic returns in the sequel to Roswell Johnson Saves the World! Packed with humor and heart, the second book in this action-packed adventure series is an another epic journey, this time, to save the galaxy! Perfect for fans of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Something very strange is happening in our galaxy. People, spaceships, and even whole stars are disappearing without a trace. The Milky Way Galactic Alliance have no explanation, so it's up to Roswell and his alien friends to solve the mystery themselves.
But, along the way, Roswell discovers new technology that could put our solar system in grave danger. Can he save not just the world, but the entire galaxy?
Chris Colfer is an Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actor best-known for his portrayal of Kurt Hummel on the FOX television series "Glee".
He is also a New York Times bestselling author whose books include the first three novels in the "Land of Stories" series ("The Wishing Spell", "The Enchantress Returns" and "A Grimm Warning") as well as "Struck By Lightning: The Carson Philips Journal" which is a novelization based on the script he wrote for the film "Struck By Lighting" (Colfer also co-produced and starred in that movie).
Roswell Johnson is bored. He misses his friends who he met after he saved the world from an alien attack. Roswell's grandparents disappear along with nine residents of a nursing home. Roswell's dad is keeping secrets from him. Roswell finds out that his dad has been blocking his friends from sending messages to him. When Cassi, Stella, and Bleep crash land on earth, they are reunited with Roswell. Xelic has escaped from prison and stars are mysteriously dying. It is up to Roswell and his friends to figure out what's going on. I like Roswell, Cassi, Stella, Nerp, Bleep, Mank, Rob, Curtis, Gram, and Pop. This book has a lot of action and humor in it.
Roswell misses his father and new space Alien friends. It has been months without any messages. When his dad briefly visits it feels perfunctory.
Roswell finds an abandoned barn and loses his anchors (grandma & grandpa) to Earth. Thankfully, he has a beginning of a plan to save the Galaxy and his family.
The characters are cute. The plot moves quickly. The plot twist wasn't really a surprise but done reasonably well.
Colfer writes with astute summation of culture and people. I would like to read book targeted for adults by him in the future.
Roswell Johnson Saves the Galaxy is the 2nd book in Chris Colfer's Roswell Johnson series. It is the sequel to Roswell Johnson Saves the World, which I read last year. And like The Court of the Dead, by Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro, this is another book I counted among the presents I got for my 35th birthday this year, but I got it at a later date, because it was released after my actual birthday. Yes, I did rate Roswell Johnson Saves the Galaxy! 5 stars, whereas I only rated Roswell Johnson Saves the World! 4 stars. As very good as the 1st book was, the 2nd was even better! I loved it!
Mysterious, suspenseful, intriguing! A perfect sequel to the first that pulls you in and takes you captive until you finish the story! Emotional twists, exciting plots, fun characters, edge of your seat story telling... Thank-you Chris Colfer for another wild and amazing adventure full of imagination and heart! ^_^
I don't know how I feel about some of the plot twists, but I loved the book overall. I do wish we had more interactions between some of the characters, but I also feel like the ending has wiggle room for future adventures.
This book was really fun! I'm a Chris Colfer completionist, so this book was a good addition to my collection of his books. I had a signed copy too :3. ANYWAYS- this book was fast paced, exciting, and always entertaining. The conflict felt neccessary and the resolution felt earned. over-all great read!
