I've worked in publishing for twenty years and I sincerely love books and authors. I started this journey with my own books planning to write just one, and then well - all I can say is the stories kept coming. My original series The Publicist, follows Kate, Mac, Nick, Vivienne and a host of other awesome characters as they make their lives in New York, amidst the chaos that publishing often brings with it.

I am now exploring a fictional small town called Harper's Corner. This series is so fun, because there are so many characters in this town, from sexy firemen and hot Army guys, to an awesome group of women that I affectionally call "the coven." These books will explore each of these characters, and their journey to finding the loves of their lives.

I love writing, and I love reading and if I'm not actively writing a book, I'm probably dreaming of what I'll write next.

Please feel free to email me at authorchristinageorge@gmail.com with your thoughts on any of my books.

"Never let an old flame burn you twice."

----Unknown

Christina George, an American author, pens the next journey in Kate Mitchell, a successful publicist's life where she runs into her old flame, and she never ever have imagined that her old flame still holds so much power over her feelings, until things get messy in her already perfect life.

Synopsis:

Kate Mitchell has never forgiven herself for breaking Nick Lavigne’s heart. Now he’s back and he’s moved on, and it’s affecting Kate’s life more than she’s willing to admit.

Kate Mitchell has everything. She's the head of a crazy successful publishing house, engaged to the traffic-stopping sexy Mac Ellis and she's about to sign one of the biggest authors of her career.

And that's when everything falls apart. Everything is perfect…until it’s not.

In a city of 8 million people Kate manages to run into someone she never expected to see again.

Nick is handsome, impossibly kind, every girl’s dream, and Kate’s former fiancé. He’s also the brother of the rising star author she’s trying to sign. Now that Nick’s back in town and has moved on he insists he’s over Kate, but part of him still can’t get past how amazing they were, and his sister won’t let anyone forget how brutally it ended.

When Mac is dealt a life-changing blow, it forces Kate to question every single choice she’s made.

Kate's career is sky-rocketing in the skyline of Manhattan and she is busy like hell with so many authors and their books. Kate's love-life is not too perfect since Mac is busy caring for his cancer-stricken ex-wife in Paris, and that is when Kate meets the impossibly handsome Nick, who believes that he is over Kate but old flames doesn't die out so easily. What happens next for you to find out?

Firstly, this is I believe the last books in the series and there will be no more Kate-Mac-Nick drama, and I definitely hate to say goodbyes. Anyhow, this time the passion is very gripping all through out the book and the author keeps us on the anticipation-loop with Kate-Nick drama and Kate-Mac drama, with the never-ending love triangle.

The writing is very mature compared to the previous books just like the storyline and moreover, the pace is really good with bit of mystery and bit of drama that kept me glued till the very end. I loved how the author have inserted so much edge to the storyline with the constantly shifting and changing events in Kate's life.

The primary characters have all grown up a bit in their demeanor and there are also some notable characters like Dr. Ruth and Nick's baby sister, who keeps the story in an interesting front. I really liked both these characters, while Dr. Ruth is a priceless support system in Kate's daily life, whereas Nick's sister is like the person who will take her mind off from the serious stuffs, in short, a total fun person.

Kat undergoes with lots of challenges in this book where she not only faces some scandals, but once again she goes through the pain of heart-break and failure and the way Kate handled those difficult issues, made me fall for her character. There is a lot of chemistry and passion between Nick and Kate which the author have once again depicted in her trademark style with intricate details and vividness and compassion.

Overall, it's an engrossing book and I definitely loved it more than the previous two books. There are also some twists that kept me wanting for more and I completely agree with that beautiful yet justified climax.

Verdict: A must read series for the contemporary romance readers.

Climax

Christina George

The Author Visits received The Climax by Christina George in exchange for an honest review.

The Climax Part 1 and 2:
Rating: 5 Stars

The Climax Parts 1 and 2 are the final installments in Christina George’s three-part romantic series, The Publicist. This review will span both books.

Kate Mitchell has moved on from Morris and Dean. She now runs a rather successful publishing outfit, named in honor of her dear friend, the acclaimed author and late Allan Lavigne. With its first breakthrough success with Allan’s second and final book, After the Fall, The Lavigne House is on its way up with a number of major titles poised for release and Kate is crazy busy with running the show.

While everything on the career front is chaotic in a good way, things in the other part of Kate’s life, namely her love life, could be better. Mac is being Mac which equates to him being selfish and Kate is still making excuses for him to anybody that will listen. Except Dr. Ruth Ann Wilson. Everyone needs a good therapist and Dr. Ruth Ann is just what Kate needs at a time when her life seems to be one eventful incident after another. With Mac in California then Paris to help his ex-wife during her battle with cancer, Kate truly believes Mac is being benevolent. But what’s that saying, “a leopard cannot change its spots nor a zebra its stripes.”

Then there is Nick, he’s in and out of Manhattan for one reason or other and the two always find a way back to each other, innocently or under pretense. Things are also in flux on that front. Nick thinks he’s found someone to love and take Kate’s place but his best attempt to put the woman he’s truly in love with behind him is rather a moot point.

The perpetual Mac, Kate, Nick love triangle never ceases. Even when I think Kate is on the cusp of moving on with Mac, there’s someone that gets in the way of her making a choice, namely Dr. Ruth Ann.

With The Climax, we continue to live through the roller-coaster ride that is the Kate, Mac and Nick love-hate fest but there is a major evolution in characters. I loved how Nick grew a backbone and Kate made some genuine albeit late realizations about where her true intentions and affections really belong. And then there is Mac. Well, like I said, Mac is Mac. Period.

What I liked about The Climax:
1. Cast of characters:

Dr. Ruth Ann Wilson: She’s a bit over-the-top, unconventional and rather blunt but she is exactly the kind of person that Kate needed to help her cut through Mac’s bullshit and work her way through the upheaval of emotions he’d caused in her life the moment he kissed her so many years ago in the park. Gosh, I need a Dr. Ruth Ann in my own life!

Vivienne Lavigne: Nick’s baby sister and writer extraordinaire, Vivienne is a spit-fire who is equally frank, rather intuitive and far more evolved than Kate was over the course of three books.

2. Writing:

George’s writing was much tighter with the last of the two books. A lot happens in part 1 and 2 of The Climax however, George does a marvelous job with pacing, fitting in so much and avoiding monotony or the mundane. There was still some room to cut some scenes but I won’t dock George for that. There is a definite shift in writing style which is much more agreeable to me as a reader and reviewer. George definitely has grown as a writer and its evident from book 1 to the very last installment.

3. Storyline:

I definitely loved how Kate’s story ended. Kate experienced the best and worst life could offer. She dealt with loss and failure, scandal and heartbreak, unfaithfulness and dishonesty but still, she managed to glean the positive every lesson had to offer and came away more well-rounded and at peace.

What I didn’t like about The Climax:
1. Mac. Mac got what he deserved and rightfully so!

I really enjoyed The Climax Parts 1 and 2. George wrapped up the series nicely, working through each hole that needed to be filled and each storyline that needed concluding. At the onset of reading this series, I was disappointed and unsure whether I wanted to dedicate any more time to Kate’s story but I am glad I hung on. The writing got better, the storyline became more pronounced, the characters became well-rounded and matured and overall, the author came full-circle with a great ending, leaving me one satisfied reader.

My rating: A well-deserved 5 Stars.

Sigh, Kate’s story is now done. I know that there will be more to come from the other characters in this series but Kate’s story is one I wanted, one I waited (sometimes impatiently) for, and one that I could not get enough of.

The Climax is the perfect last part of Kate’s story. There is craziness from authors, discovering the truth of feelings, and of course a lot of Mac and Nick. I have to say that from the very beginning I have been #teamnick. I truly believe that once a cheater always a cheater. During The Climax I knew that I hoped she would dump Mac and go back to Nick, but I was never sure until almost the end of what she would do. I could feel her struggling with what to do, but I believe that she knew from the second meeting with Dr. Ruth she probably really knew what had to be done. Still sometimes knowing what to do isn’t enough, you need that push to do what has to be done.
As always, I loved Grace. She is outspoken, loyal, and the best friend Kate could ask for. She has the right approach, most of the time, in telling Kate what she thinks then saying but I will support you no matter what. Those are the best kind of friends to have.

I cannot wait for more from Christina George. This is a series that I will happily recommend to all my friends.

I was completely blown away by this novel! George writes scenes that sizzle just as well as she writes ones that pack an emotional punch. She draws readers so completely into this story that they don’t read it, they live it. The plot twists kept me on my toes throughout, never being able to guess what would come next or how it would end. And that ending was definitely the perfect ending to an absolutely fantastic story. As a reader you really get a sense of what being in New York and the hectic pace of life there. I really enjoyed the in depth look at the world of publicity and publishing. It takes the story to a whole new level.

The main character is so real. Her emotions and reactions are so raw and off the cuff. She was a real pleasure to get to know. I was so into this story that I was loving & hating people not based on who they were, but what they did to the characters I’d already formed connections with. It was absolutely fantastic to be this invested in the lives of the characters. I found myself yelling at and giving advice to the characters. They were all so real. I felt as if I were sitting in the same room as them.

This novel may be just over 500pages long, but I devoured it in a single sitting. It is one of the best pieces of literature I’ve read in a long, long while.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

If you've been following this series, you know that books 1 and 2 set up something of a love triangle for our publicist heroine, Kate Mitchell. On the one hand, we have Nick Lavigne, the nephew of the deceased (and brilliant) writer that Kate championed as a publicist in a larger NYC publishing house. Kate's other love interest is MacDermott Ellis, a prominent and very charismatic(and very married) editor. If you haven't read books 1 and 2, you'll likely want to stop here because this review will spoil them for you. This is one of those series that you really have to read in order.

At the end of Shelf Life, it looked like Kate and Mac were going to ride off into the sunset. However, in Climax, Mac is now divorced and living with Kate. The two of them have opened their dream boutique publishing house. It's all perfect, right?

Then Nick shows up in New York. Now that he's no longer safely stashed away on the West Coast, Kate has to face the fact that she's never entirely dealt with her feelings and her past. In addition, Mac's ex-wife has news that shakes up the entire family.

In some ways, I would call this an average read. The writing is serviceable, but a little clunky sometimes. Often the author lapses into telling rather than showing. However, for all that, the book has a certain undefinable something about it. Even though the novel clocks in at 500+ pages, I kept flying through it. All that soap opera drama just has a certain addictive quality about it that kept me reading and reading.

The fact that the author is a book publicist and that she throws in bits and pieces of stories from the industry makes for added interest as well. If you like soap opera-style drama, I'd start with Book 1 and read this all the way through until the end. And yes, I promise you'll know by the end of Climax who The One for Kate turns out to be.

I had mixed feelings towards the fact that there was a third book. Shelf Life came to a nice close, and I liked that Kate had finally chosen to be with Mac, while he in turn actually grew a pair and ended things with his wife. But alas, Climax quickly reveals that there is trouble brewing in paradise between our engaged couple. Kate is extremely busy with her newly created publishing company, and loves Mac sooo much, but when she bumps into her ex-fiance Nick on the teeming streets of New York she questions whether or not she made the right decision in giving him up. Especially since Nick now seems to have moved on completely from their relationship. As if that experience didn't cause enough confusion for Kate, Mac's ex-wife has been diagnosed with cancer, and he is spending an inordinate amount of time taking care of her. Rock, hard place...haaave you met Kate?

To be honest, I found it extremely difficult to like or sympathize with Kate for about 90% of this book. At the start of the novel she seems firm in her decision to be with Mac. It's only after bumping into Nick, and her close friends constantly pestering her that she is still in love with Nick that she starts to question her decision to leave him. It's called peer pressure, and it seemed like Kate was undergoing quite a bit of it in this book that she almost had no choice but to think about Nick again, and question her relationship with Mac.

There were some definite highlights to this book which I thoroughly enjoyed. Firstly, the majority of the previous novels were told from Kate and Mac's points of view, but this book prominently features Nick's thoughts and feelings towards Kate and their mess of a relationship. Finally, Nick feels like a real character!! I struggled with that lack of character development through most of books one and two, so I was unbelievably excited to see this change in book 3. The second highlight of this book: Kate gets therapy!!! Yes, after all of the drama and issues Kate has dealt with in the previous two novels, a friend of hers recommends that she see a particularly quirky therapist, Dr. Ruth Ann. Now, although Dr. Ruth Ann was funny in a wacky sort of way, her character was almost too cartoonish to be believable. I mean, unless things have changed in the therapy world and doctors can actually tell patients all of the mistakes they've made and what is really going on in their lives.

In spite of the possible ethical issues surrounding Dr. Ruth Ann, she did tell Kate one of the most eye-opening things ever: Kate's love life is on spin cycle. Sooo unbelievably true! I think this spin cycle of a love life played heavily into why I had a difficult time liking her in this book. If I had to put a label on it, I'd come right out and say that Kate is a weak and selfish character. Her feelings are constantly jumping back and forth from one man to the other. Although both men have their faults, she really isn't being fair to either of them. Even when I thought she had made an ultimate decision at the end of the last book to be with Mac, the minute things aren't wonderfully perfect in their relationship she starts to think of Nick again. She's weak because during all the time that Mac is helping his ex-wife through her illness, Kate presents an outward facade of being fine with it, but deep down she feels neglected and knows that his spending so much time with his ex could lead to serious problems between the two of them.

I must say it was fascinating to see how this series, as well as the characters within it, progressed from one book to the next. Kate herself has definitely grown as a character, and it was unbelievably satisfying to finally see her tell off a pain in the ass author. I just wish she had her aha moment of strength a little earlier on, rather than in the last 30 pages or so of the book.

This was the best ending for a trilogy that I loved from the beginning.

I was a #teamnick fan right from the start of this well written story of publicist Kate Mitchell. The Climax starts pretty much where book 2 finishes. Kate has started her own publishing company with now fiancé Mac Ellis.

Their lives are in full swing with a busy company "Lavigne House" taking off in the publishing world and a wedding that doesn't ever have a permanent date. Kate isn't sure why there is doubt but something keeps stopping her from moving forward.

One chance meeting on the subway with ex fiancé Nick turns Kate's life upside down. she hasn't seen hon since their breakup and her return to life with Mac. When their world's start colliding with the involvement of Nick's sister into the story.

Vivienne Lavigne is Nick sistet and niece to Allan Lavigne long time friend of Kate. she was devistated with his death and used his name to start her new company. Vivienne hates Kate with a passion after what she put Nick through after the engagement and breakup but it is Lavigne house that gives her her break. Kate knows her stuff and thinks this is an amazing story but whether the 2 can work together remains a mystery. It is Nick who pushes Viv towards Kate knowing despite their differences and history Kate will do everything she can for a successful release.

While Kate is busy running her company Mac receives news his ex wife has bern diagnosed with cancer. so he goes running back to her, for his sons... but as days turn to weeks. Kate feels more alone then ever and more doubt plays on her mind and the final blow comes with a trip to Paris for her cancer treatment. Knowing Mac and Carolyn history Kate refuses to go and be the 3rd wheel and this is where the whole story turns on its head!

How to move forward without giving to much away.... lets just say Kate and Mac split up and Kate falls off the rails and while MIA during a conference everyone is worried she is missing and it is Nick who comes to the rescue. And rescue he does. But eith a girlfriend back home he cannot deny the feelings that are still there for Kate. He has always loved her abs one night in Mexico changes everything for the 2 of them.

Nick returns to his life with his girlfriend, now pregnant girlfriend and with constant reminders of what he and Kate shared but never shying away from his responsibilities be marries Stephanie the keniving bitch from hell. She also hates Kate and will do anything to remove her from Nick's life.

So with Kate's life falling apart around her, a successful business and an up and coming author Kate moves forward with her life without Mac and Nick but she is never truly happy.

So without giving anything away, this story will have you guessing right to the last chapter. #teamnick or #teammac read and find out.

Have to say a little author letter at the back gas me a little excited over another publicist story to come!

Well, I will miss Kate.

You see, I've read and reviewed the first two installments in this series: The Publicist and Shelf Life as well as the audiobook version of The Publicist. I also did an interview with Christina George!

And I know now which 'team' folks should've been on, #TeamMac or #TeamNick, but I'm not telling! I'm not trying to be mean, but this way you get to find out for yourselves!

In the first two books, Kate changed from being a publicist working for a publisher to being the head of her own publishing house, named after her friend, the author Allan Lavigne, who was Nick's uncle.

In Climax, Kate becomes aware of a fantastic new book, written by an author who prefers to remain as private as possible. Unbeknownst to most people at the time, said writer is Nick's little sister and she has a huge chip on her shoulder about Kate after she broke her engagement to Nick. But they manage to work things out professionally - and I really would have expected that of Kate. After all, she talked a writer off a rooftop earlier in the series. She's got serious negotiating chops, this woman.

One huge game changer in this particular book is the fact that Mac's ex-wife finds out she has cancer. Besides spending a number of days arranging for his ex's medical care and being with their sons, Mac winds up taking her and the boys to Paris (for some miracle treatment). Kate has a tough time swallowing this one because she and Mac were supposed to go there. I think she is invited along, but talk about how AWKWARD that would be!

Kate matures in more ways than one in Climax. She stops being a people-pleasing publicist (it sounds kind of like a job requirement) to being someone more in control, and that is a pleasure to see. One really great scene was where she confronted an spoiled cookbook author who had gotten drunk, assaulted someone and got herself arrested. This woman expected Kate to come down to jail and bail her out. Well, Kate showed up, and she cancelled the author's contract! (I think I may have fist-pumped at this point.)

On it's own, Climax is a great modern tale of love and life in the publishing world. Taken as a whole, the Publicist series shows Kate's tremendous growth as a character and a woman. It's wonderful to watch and experience and makes her a grand professional role model for young women. (Kate's personal life takes a while to come around, but I think she's on the right track by the end of the book.)

One teeny-tiny bit of confusion. I had gotten the idea that this was a trilogy, but my copy of the book came with "Climax - Part I". So maybe I won't be missing Kate for long? That would be alright by me.

(Disclosure: I received this book from the author and publishers in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.)

There is so much in this amazing finish that I understand why it was divided into parts.

Kate and Mac have both left their former publishing house, M&D, but throughout this book other employees turn up.
Kate uses her severance pay plus money Allan left her as well as his final manuscript to open her own publishing house. Since she named it Lavigne House after Allan, Nick is obviously still a part of the equation, even if he refuses to take any profits due him. Kate still finds herself performing super hero deeds that were necessary to her life as a publicist. Almost unavoidably, Mac becomes the editor at Kate's new business.
So the potential for the triangle of messy love lives continues to exist.

Kate literally bumps into Nick as she is rushing off to an author emergency.
I admit I loved the parts of the books with all the drama of author events.
Nick is in New York opening new stores for his own business, based in California.
He also is sharing an apartment with his much younger sister, Vivienne, whom Kate has never met in person.
Another female flies in to complicate his life further, but that comes a bit later.

Kate is trying her best to be honest with those in her inner circle, meaning Mac and Grace, Lulu, Andrew, and Nick, if he will allow her to be his friend. Her honesty tends to lead to some fiery confrontations. Her cicle will grow to include Viv, after a rocky start, and Kate's own "Dr. Ruth."
Besides publishing books, Kate is building a legacy of good works in Allan Levigne's name.

Mac takes every opportunity to satisfy his own cravings, need and desires. Even when he tries to "do the right thing" for his family, his sons and a now ill ex-wife, the bottom line is his self less acts are really selfish underneath. I do believe his heart is torn. He does love both Kate and Carolyn. He may be in his fifties, but maturity has not overtaken him.

Nick has never gotten over Kate. He feels that distance is the only cure for his love.
That doesn't seem to be working out for him. Even when a pushy female decides to convince him she is his girlfriend, and even manages to walk down the matrimonial aisle with him, Kate still owns Nick's heart.

Mac doesn't help his own cause any when he keeps taking weeks long trips with carolyn and their sons.
When Mac told Kate about the honeymoon trip to Paris that he never took with his wife, he had no idea how that would come back to haunt him.

Kate finally realizes how much of a doormat she has become, between the way she lets authors and men trample over her. I would add even Grace stomps on Kate now and again.

You will have to read Climax to find out who ends up with whom.
I was delighted, at the end of the book, wherre author Christina George shares that we'll visit these characters again.

So here we are. Climax is what it is. The last book in this exciting romance series.

I feel like I’ve come to know these characters well.

Kate. From publicist to publisher and owner of her own publishing house. In love with Mac, who’s married in the first book, and divorced in the second.

Now Kate and Mac are engaged and you’d think the happy ever after is here. But don’t hold your breath.

The first book came in at around 220 pages. The second book at around 270 pages. Climax has a whopping 565 pages and not one bit of it is redundant.

The happy ever after isn’t guaranteed. Especially when Kate bumps into Nick, her former fiancee and Mr. Perfect. Ooh, this is where it gets very interesting.

Poor Kate is under so much stress. She’s got a killer book to publish and the author has a huge secret. Her love life is in tatters as Mac deals with some serious issues with his ex-wife. Nick is in town and connected to her star author. And she’s not handling anything with a clear head.

Kate ‘drops her basket’ at a conference in Mexico. It’s all just too much.

So will there be a happy ever after? And who will Kate end up with?

I’m not a big fan of love triangles. There is one in this series, kind of. But it didn’t bother me so much. I believe you can love more than one man, just in different ways. Kate drove me a bit nuts bouncing back and forth. But aren’t we all fools for love?

And when I finally got my answer to who Kate ended up with, I felt happy for her. I became worried it wouldn’t go the way I originally hoped it would end when I started the series, but that’s how it goes. The heart wants….

I need to give praise to Christina George for getting me to fall so deeply into her series. I usually prefer romance with a creepy mystery, some suspense, or even something paranormal. The Publicist is romance with a capital R, and I ate these books up.

I received this book for my honest review.

Climax: The Publicist, Book Three, is the final book in Christina George's three-part contemporary romance series. The entire series which is centered around the world of publishing, totally wowed me, and the characters will live on in my heart for a very long time. This is a well-written, emotionally charged book, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to read an awe-inspiring love story.

This is the story of three, Kate Mitchell, Mac Ellis, and Nick Lavigne. About a year ago, Kate was engaged to Nick, but broke up with him because she felt she did not love him enough. Waiting for Kate's love is Mac, a gorgeous man and hotshot in the publishing industry. His philandering ways are legendary, yet for the most part, he is completely faithful to Kate. Kate and Mac are in business together, successfully publishing and promoting books in their unique boutique style, while enjoying life as a happy couple. When Nick's business finds him in New York City, he literally runs into Kate, and the lives of the three will never be the same.

Kate, Mac and Nick are great characters. They are perfectly defined, which enabled me to connect with them immediately. Kate's good friend Andrew, a former rock superstar, is a real hoot and his advice is comical. Each character is distinctive in their own way and the book's subplots are intriguing. Nick's sister and Kate's therapist are especially entertaining. Ms. George does a wonderful job of incorporating the past into the present, and as a result, the story flows effortlessly. I am truly looking forward to the spin-off series!

I wanted to hate this book but unfortunately I couldn't.

I never really liked the main characters -Kate, Mac and even Nick- and also I was sick and tired of the sex scenes.

description

The only reason why I kept reading the two previous books was because of the publishing world and the narrative. The author is amazing and I love her shorts but deep chapters and I couldn't help but love the writing style. Also, the story was really well constructed and very unpredictable.

Although I didn't enjoyed the main characters, I did love Viviene, Ruth Ann, Grace and of course, Allan, and everytime they where on scene, I celebrated:

description

And -again- even when I didn't like Nick too much, I was Team Nick because I really hated Mac so I was relief when the ending came.

Recently, I read on the author's blog that she's thinking of writing a book about Viviene, and if so, I'll be definitely give it a try because Viviene is just such a great character and she deserves her own book.

I won this book through GoodReads and I thank to the author for providing me this copy but this fact didn't influence the review.

Finally! I really wanted to strangle the main character, Kate Mitchell after the second book. I love all the characters ( especially Andrew and James). Christina George tells their stories and back stories so well. Like everyone in all three books I wanted to be friends with Kate Mitchell too. But her choices and decisions in the second book made me crazy.

I am glad that Andrew convinced ( conned?) her into therapy with Dr Ruth Ann. Yet another amazing and colorful character. A good reminder to us all that once in a while it is good to talk to someone, Dr Ruth Ann not only helps Katie get a grasp of what she did not know she was chasing, but at the end becomes my hero.

The trilogy is worth hanging in there for. Check out my reviews of the first two books. I learned more about publishing from these books than I ever thought there was to know. Christina George is a beautiful writer who sucks you into her stories and makes you skip dinner and stay up all night wanting to know what happens to the characters she created that you cannot help but love.

Wow! Oh, wow! Some may think that the title "Climax" means its going to be a naughty read, and it is to a certain extent, but I think what it really means is the way the story concluded and boy was it a "Climax". The story was intertwined and engaging and caused me to stay up late reading it several nights in a row.

Kate's doubts about marrying Mac and setting a date were pretty clear that she still had feelings for Nick or doubts about Mac. I am so glad that Nick went to Mexico to find Kate when she was lost and thinking about starting a broom making business. I absolutely loved Ruth Ann and thought she was a hoot and I especially loved the way she took charge of the situation in the hospital in the end.

Can hardly wait for the spin off stories.

This is actually the second time I read this series... the first a number of years ago. It pulled at me as much the second time through as the first. Life has a way of shaking things up when you least expect it. A chance encounter with Nick leaves Kate torn. Mac's choices leave her reeling. A therapist who walks to the beat of her own drummer has her questioning everything. Life happens when you're not looking, and this books takes us on Kate's journey as she discovers the path she is meant to travel. Loved Nick's sister and how she helped bring things full circle.

Nerve Jerking.

I was hooked. Although, all the ups and downs were nerve wracking. Kate, wasted so much time thinking she wasn't worthy of true love. However, in the end,it worked out for the best and Nick and Kate got the happy ending. I just hope Mac can redeem himself and get his.

Christina George, ‘The Climax’, book Three.
Book One & Two Bundle.

As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy of both books and promised an honest review of these books.
Well.. then book 2 (‘Shelf Life’) of the series had an open end and I received a free copy of the unexpected book 3 in the series. Here my review of Book Three (‘Climax’).

Rating: 4 stars (of 5).

In general: Loving a married man (3).

Main characters:
- Katharine ‘Kate’ Mitchell (34).
Born and raised in Arizona. She left her boring home town as soon as possible for an interesting career at a leading NY publishing company (MD). Ambition, hard work and talent made her a successful PR Director. But in book 1 & 2 we learned that she more and more disliked the publishing policy of her company and she started her own publishing firm, Lavigne House. She inherited a brilliant manuscript from a very good old friend, Alan Lavigne, when he died. That was the the first book her firm published and she made it an enormous bestseller. During the marketing campaign she met Nick Lavigne, her old friend’s nephew, and for a short time had a love affair with him.

- MacDermott ‘Mac’ Ellis (almost 50).
He also had an important job at the MD publishing company as part of the senior editorial staff.
Early in his marriage he left his wife at home for an emergency at work. She had a miscarriage during his absence. It was the end of their love, but being strict Catholic and having two sons with her they didn’t divorce. After some years Mac found comfort in emotionless affairs with many different women. But he fell in love with Kate. And after many doubts she acknowledged their love. At last Mac’s wife found another lover and finally he divorced her and asked Kate to marry him. Kate left Nick Lavigne and accepted Mac’s proposal but hesitates to fix a date for the marriage.

Then the author, Christina George, describes how the relationship between Kate and Mac becomes very complicated. Mac wants to give more time and care for his sons and ex-wife who is diagnosed having ovary cancer at an advanced stage.
And Kate meets Vivienne Lavigne, Nick’s sister. She has the same writer’s talent as her uncle Alan and creates a very promising manuscript for a bestseller. She hesitates to work together with Kate, who hurt her brother badly, but in the end she recognized Kate’s publishing talent and she becomes an author for Kate’s company. But having Viv, being Nick’s roommate, as a client means that Kate meets Nick regularly.
With much insight and feeling the author describes the developments in the relations between Kate, Mac and Nick. Unexpected twists in the plot, wonderful characters and interesting dialogues made this last novel of the ‘Publicist’ series a pleasure to read.

A love triangle or a woman playing ping pong with two men?

I didn't think it was a great love story. I'm only happy for the happily ever because the hero deserved it but I would have been perfectly happy if he would have forgotten her and fallen deeply in love with someone more deserving than her. She honestly did not deserve him, she was selfish and she broke
his heart.
She only went back because the relationship failed. Had it not failed, she would have not ended up with him. So see. She didn't love him enough to put him first. I can't find the whole you love a person more than another romantic.
I received the a free copy of this book and I voluntarily reviewed it.

The Climax box set includes books three and four of The Publicist series. Kate has move on from working for Morris and Dean Publishing, opening her own publishing business called The Lavigne House. Though still dating Mac, her new therapist, Dr. Ruth Ann, helps her see his true ways while he is in Paris helping his ex-wife. When she runs into Nick, he’s found someone new that he thinks will replace his feelings for Kate. Will Kate see Mac for his true ways before it’s to late to fix things with Nick? Or will her stubbornness to see the good in Mac keep her and Nick apart?

Final book in The Publicist series was a lot! It seems like there was so much going on, so many new names brought in. I love Ruth Ann! Her attitude and polyester suits were a funny break that was needed. Kate's "spin cycle" life could be a bit much at times. I've struggled to like Grace through the series, I just don't like her. I know she means well but she comes off like a bully. Again, an over use of names which is a huge pet peeve of mine, but overall the story was good. I did appreciate how things were wrapped up with Kate and Mac/Nick. It was a great ending.

Kate Mitchell is a publicist and she has a great career with signing an author who catapulted her into fame. Now Kate is finally going to get married to Mac who she works with and her life is perfect until Nick her ex-boyfriend comes back into her life. This book was so good and I really enjoyed it. I don't know if it was the story or if it was the fireworks you could see and the way Kate held her own. This was a great book and now I want to read the rest of them!

I didn’t think it could get better after the first 2 books but wow! I love the characters and there are sooooo many ups and downs. In one book I’m team Mac and then the next thing I know I’m team Nick! I can understand how hard it was for Late in her situation, I love how this book draws out my emotions whilst reading and this is definitely my new favourite series without a doubt!

Title: Climax (The Publicist #3)

Author: Christina George

Genre: Romance, Contemporary, Women's Fiction

Publication Date: December 15, 2014

Source: Copy Given by Author and Tour Organizer

(NOTE: If you haven't read Shelf Life, this will spoil it for you...just a little.)

ARA'S NOTE:
Before reading the last few pages of Shelf Life, I seriously thought that it would be a happily-ever-after for Kate and Mac. I even figured that Nick would end up with Kate's best friend, Grace. Why I thought that...well, it would sort of -- very little -- make sense, right? But nooooooo...I had to go and read Climax and POOF! goodbye well thought off happy ending for everyone!! (Okay, so I'm exaggerating)

Follow Kate as she embarks on a journey of life and love, navigating through the decisions that will change it all forever.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:

Kate Mitchell is lost. She thought she was at the top of the world, and that she has everything. She made the decision of being with Mac and even shattered the heart of Nick. But then things happened. Bad things. And she becomes a shell of her former self...until she finds the right path.

Mac Ellis is a bastard. He loves Kate, and she's the best kindest woman he knows. But unexpected things happen -- things involving his ex-wife. Nothing is the same for him since then.

Nick Lavigne is trying to find happiness again. With a girlfriend and a child on the way, he's supposed to be contented. But instead, he thinks about Kate all the time and he starts questioning the things he really want in life.

REVIEW:

FUCK! Sorry. I hope there aren't any kids reading this, YIKES. I just had to get that out. I loved this book. Oh, to heck with it, I have a love/hate relationship with this book! Climax has many twists, many surprises, and I'm not even sure if I like or detest them. It's the exact reason why I decided not to separate my review to their respective "to love" and "to bleh" sections.

Okay, let's cut to the chase...I freaking HATE Mac. I loved him in the first two books and I was vying for him and Kate to be together forever, but that just blew up on my face. They make such a great team, romantically and professionally. Nick is a great guy, no doubt about that, but that's exactly why I can handle him not being with Kate. He can easily find another woman to be with because he's perfect and has no commitment issues. Going back to Mac's asshole tendencies (Yes, I am using a lot of expletives right now), I was very disappointed with what he did. Is it just in his DNA? Is the saying about men like him true? Does he not love Kate enough to be able to do something so rotten? He, or rather someone important, was going through something sad and unfortunate, but it was no excuse for what he did. NOT AN EXCUSE AT ALL.

I found Kate's transition was a bit too quick for my liking. One would assume that because she was so in love with Mac, it would take a very long time before she can move on...again. But it wasn't like that. I guess nobody could blame her; mix in alcohol, mexico, depression, and Nick, anyone would be changing tunes pretty quickly too.

I can't say much without giving anything away. I will say this though...Kate gets her happily-ever-after with one of these two amazing men, and the other guy...well...he's living with the choices he made.

SUMMARY:

The third and last installment of this series gets 4.5 stars from me. As you can tell, I feel so strongly about this book. An author's goal is to engage readers, and I admit that Christina George succeeded in that feat. I would NEVER forget this story. I highly recommend this trilogy. It won't disappoint.

I want to thank iRead Book Tours and Christina George for giving The Booksnake Etc. a chance to take part in this tour, and for the free ebook copies as well. It was a fun journey, and may this book continue to grow in success.

The Climax
is the third book in the Christina George-penned The Publicist series and wraps up book publicist Katherine "Kate" Mitchell's story. This picks up some time after the events of book two, Shelf Life, and we find that while the "happily" part is still in effect, the "ever after" seems to be in limbo. While everyone appears to have moved on, readers will find out that that's not necessarily true, no matter how much the main characters try to convince themselves that they have.

Kate Mitchell is on top of the world--she's engaged to MacDermott "Mac" Ellis, who professed his love and making her the only woman he divorced his wife for, and she has her own publishing house with a number of successful titles under its belt. There's no doubt that she and Mac love each other but it's a wonder that they have yet to set a date for their nuptials. Kate appears to be waiting...but for what exactly? Then, she unexpectedly bumps into Nicholas "Nick" Lavigne, the man who's heart she broke.

Nick Lavigne has moved forward with his life after his then-fianceé decided to end their engagement. He's no longer the same guy he once was, becoming more wary of falling in love and more protective of his own feelings. Being that vulnerable taught him painful lessons but he's dating someone new, opening new branches of his store, and being there for his younger sister Vivienne. Yes, life has gone on but then it goes off-kilter again when, of all the people in New York, he bumps into Kate Mitchell, aka the ex.

Mac Ellis is ready to start a new life as a married man to Kate Mitchell. He finally did the right thing and divorced his wife and is now working side-by-side with the woman who's changed his life. But fate throws him a curve ball when he receives a frantic phone call from one of his sons informing him that their mom is extremely sick. Mac discovers she has cancer and steps in, going above and beyond to be there for her, believing he's atoning for his sins but failing to see how his choices are negatively affecting Kate.

There are a few new additions to the cast of supporting characters and I must say that I liked the inclusion of Vivienne Lavigne (aka Riley O'Connor) and Dr. Ruth Ann Wilson, Kate's therapist. These two women brought new energy to the series and provided fresh perspectives for Nick and Kate, respectively. It was great that Andrew Trapp, Grace Adler, and Lulu, whose last name I can't recall (though I don't think it was ever mentioned in any of the books) were still very much around for this third installment.

I was a little surprised with Kate's state of confusion regarding Nick and Mac, especially after she had chosen one over the other in book two. I also felt that Mac was made into somewhat of a scapegoat here but I will admit that he made some really terrible choices. The guy was stuck between a rock and a hard place and he obviously still had issues from his previous marriage that he should have dealt with before proposing to Kate. Mac Ellis: the poster child for cluelessness.

Now, regarding the whole Nick issue--Kate seemed quite sure that she loved Nick but she wasn't in love with him in book two. So, the fact that she's suddenly inundated with thoughts of him simply because she bumped into him on the streets of New York had me a bit skeptical. Still, I went with it and Ruth Ann's explanation seemed plausible, though a tad forced, just to make the whole Kate + Nick thing work out. But hey, by the time we got to Mexico, I was finally with the program. ^.^

So, was I on Team Nick or Team Mac? A little of both, I guess. Mac wasn't a bad guy. Clueless, yes, but not some heartless jackass. Nick was the perfect guy in the first two books and it was good to see him more jaded after Kate broke his heart. I was more on Team Kate because the girl simply needed to make her mind and heart up and finally get that happily ever after she wanted. In the end, I was happy with her choice though Ruth Ann's interference made me wonder why she was wary of the guy seeing Kate again.

This was an overall good series with an interesting basic plot and characters. There were a few editing boo-boos in this third book nothing too painful or overly distracting. I'll definitely miss Kate, Nick, and Mac but hopefully we'll get to see them in cameos in future releases, as mentioned by the author in her thank you note. ^.^ The Climax is a commendable book that I enjoyed reading, and with the four-star rating I'm giving it, averages the overall rating for The Publicist series to four stars. ♥
