There was nothing ordinary about Honey Potts. From the tips of her Very Berry Pink toenails to the top of her curly auburn head, and every freckled mouthwatering inch of abundant skin in between, she was a force of nature that made Derek’s head spin. For an experienced bear shifter like him, that could spell big trouble.
EXCERPT:
That determination didn’t stop his bear from moving the man, pushing him forward, invading her space in the confines of the small room. He had the satisfaction of watching her eyes widen as he bent closer. His bear grunted, urging him to get lost in her sweet scent and abundant curves. He didn’t follow when she moved back, leaning against the wall, her arms still folded across her generous chest. He’d bet his last jar of honey peanut butter that she had no idea the action pushed the tops of her ripe flesh outside the very limited confines of her wide-necked tee-shirt. Lord, he could bury his face—not to mention his c***—between those mounds and…
Grrrrr. If he didn’t say what he’d come to say and beat a hasty retreat, he was going to do something he just might not regret.
Lynn Richards is the pen name for the writing team of two best friends. We love romance that begins with that chance meeting and ends with a happily-ever-after with a whole lot of spice in between.
We are a best selling erotica author. Our stories contain alpha males and the (usually curvy) women who bring them to their knees. Story lines are contemporary and paranormal. We love us some wolfie loving!
This book had more misses than hits. It could have been a good story, but some things didn't make sense and were never explained. Like what was the purpose of the two armed robber accomplices showing up at the diner? Who sabotaged the diner's food supply?
Honey let it be known that she has it bad for Derek (but not in a slutty, skanky way), but Derek was being a punk and yeah, he wanted Honey as well but wasn't gonna do anything about his feelings for her.
Okay because it's a quick read, but not much in the way of entertainment.
Pretty good story. (SPIOLER ALERT ) Just a little frustrating because it took so long for them to finally get together. And I REALLY wanted to just smack some sense into the male character ! For gis attitude and not following his instinct. I mean come on. ....you're a freggen bear for x-mas sake , you are supposed to follow your instinct !!!!
This book had a few typos and grammatical errors and I really wanted to slap the hero a couple of times & tell him to get over his past but, overall, I did enjoying reading as Honey and Derek found their HEA.
A lot of the reviews I saw for this say they did not like Honeys character. I thought she was fine. She has the same outlook as a lot of women irl, thinking she can make a man change his ways.
Spoilers---- It's obvious that she and Derek are hot for each other, they have some really good chemistry. But he's had a traumatizing past with an childhood full of bad adults. So when he's confronted with a cheating gf and bf, he over-reacts and decides he never wants to feel for anyone again. But his bear falls for Honey right away, leaving his human half all twisted up. Honestly, I was good with all this until the very end. I hated the ending. He still intends to leave, then in the last few lines he just abruptly decides to stay. It's very 'Meh ok' and not at all the love he should've realized. At that point I was just thinking, he should've just left, it would have been better emotionally than the lack-luster staying.. I still gave it 3 stars because a few times it got me in my feels. (Also, I hate when books are headed with bbw but that's barely even a thing. For someone touted as bbw she sure had a lot of interest in her...)
Honey Potts is a force of nature, full of curves, sass and beautiful red hair. When Derek Combs a brown bear shifter saves her father's life, Honey makes it her mission to repay the debt by helping look after him during his recovery. Neither of them expected the instant attraction, one Honey really wants to explore and one Derek is trying to fight against after a past hurt but his bear has other ideas. This smart, funny and sexy story is a really enjoyable read that kept me entertained throughout. I look forward to reading more writing from this author. Happy Reading. 5 out of 5 stars.
Free read. Slow to get to anywhere. Liked it but found both characters more in lust than love. Derek was just to woe is me in his thinking. Yes he’d had a rough childhood and been cheated on by his girlfriend and best friend. But he didn’t listen to his bear. Nor did he behave nicely towards Honey once he had sex with her. In fact he was cruel. Not sure that he deserves Honey.
I would give this one a 3.5 rating. This is a well written story with good characters. This one didn't have a lot of spice, but I liked it. For me this was a quick read. I would encourage everyone to give this one a chance. I think a lot of people will like this one I know I did.
I enjoyed the storyline, but it took so long to get to the good stuff. The characters were delightful and intriguing. I wanted more yet it was a slow burn. I liked the book.
I liked it, but I didn't love it. My favorite books have the H/h together the whole book. This one, it just took way too long. Still a good read though.
Much better than it has any right to be. The grumpy mountain man trope gets done a lot but this story was satisfying on all the levels. Great job-angsty heroine. Grumpy heartbroken hero. Interesting mystery. Liked it a lot.
Honey and Her Bear by Lynn Richards is an enjoyable read. This was my first BBW Paranormal Romance and my first time reading this author. When I saw it had a bear shifter I jumped at the chance to read this. I just love bear shifters, but I guess I had to much built up on it; because I was a little disappointed that their was not much of a plot, sex or more action/conflict.
Honey, is a very independent and a strong women. I felt connected to her within the first few pages. She has a lot of the same concerns and thoughts as most women do that fall for a man. I liked that she did not give up and that she made a point of showing Derek that being alone is not what he needs.
Derek, shifter alpha bear. Bear shifters are just so darn sexy. I love them. His bear knew that Honey is their mate, but the man is not yet ready to accept this. His past clouds his judgement and at one point this got on my nerves. I just wanted to smack him over the head and tell him to stop being such a dick to Honey.
Both characters have conflicting emotions and both fight their feelings. The sexual tension is of the charts. We get detailed descriptions of what each want to do with each other in their fantasies. As for the sex their is one scene that lasted maybe a paragraph and it was just ok, not the melt your panties off stuff I am use too. The only other scene is where he gets Honey off in a truck. Not much in the sex department, which was a little disappointing.
Honey and Her Bear was a quick read more having to do with getting over past emotional scars, all and all it was a nice quick read.

Fans of shifter romances will find this an entertaining read with some predictable moments, a delightful heroine, a conflicted hero who frequently frustrated me, and a bit of danger all combined in a quickly wrapped up HEA. Much of the storyline has been seen before but I still found myself immersed in the story as Honey was a heroine you can't help but be drawn to. She's sweet yet strong-willed and knows what she wants and isn't shy in going after it. She's not some shrinking violet, she's a woman who's lived a full life and desperately wants Derek to rejoin the land of the living and stop hiding away with the pain of a past bad relationship his only companion.
Derek has come to this small town to escape the pain of his past and live in peace while licking his wounds from a relationship gone bad that has left him feeling untrusting of the opposite sex. Once he meets Honey there's no more peace for him as his shifter side knows she's his mate which Derek fights every step of the way. Derek is a sexy beast and I felt sympathetic towards him but was equally frustrated that he couldn't let go of his past. He didn't even really love the woman, so to still be torn up over her cheating made me think less of him and felt unfair to Honey as he often left her in emotional limbo. When danger came calling though he was there for Honey, keeping her safe and ultimately claiming her.
This story was a quick read with a nice flow that kept me entertained from start to finish. There was unrelenting sexual tension from the very start but very little time spent culminating these intense sexual feelings which left me disappointed. What didn't disappoint was Honey herself as she's a breath of fresh air, strong-willed and admirable in her actions. I just wish she'd hit Derek in the head the moment they met so we could've enjoyed their romance much sooner as his wishy-washy nature became frustrating. Ultimately this was an entertaining read and a nice addition to the paranormal genre.
If I had not received an advanced copy (so I could get details to do the cover) I would have bought the first copy!
From the very first of the book you can see that this isn't going to be a fun time watching Derek fight their connection tooth and nail. Within the first few pages I was smiling and knew I probably wouldn't get much work done that day as I'd have my 'nose in a book' instead. LOL
I found Derek's grim determination to stick his nose up at what Fate had in store for him not only entertaining but down right endearing. You can't help but feel for his reasoning's, all the while rooting for sweet Honey Pots to get her bear! :)
Honey is spunky and is just as stubborn as Derek, to his great distress. Yet you get to see both of their vulnerable sides and root even harder for them.
Now I don't want to say anything that might give anything away, so I'll end by just saying that I enjoyed it a lot and found the story both entertaining and exciting as well as filled with frustrations of all kinds. :D
*Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock*
This is the first book I have read from this author and I enjoyed this one. The story follows Honey and Derek. Honey is a slightly overweight hardworking woman that feels life is beginning to pass her by. Derek is a big, handsome bear shifter who has moved to Honey's small town to escape from his past and live the quiet life in his small cabin away from people. When he meets Honey she disrupts his peace big time! This is a fairly short, light read with no real surprises but it flowed well and the characters were likeable. I liked Honey because she was a normal girl with all the insecurities that go with it and Derek was hot and handsome with his own demons to exorcise. I give this book a 4 fang rating. An enjoyable romp with a HEA. Can't go wrong with this. I will probably read more from this author.

I don't know who the 2 women are that right under the name of 'Lynn Richards', but I do know that I thoroughly enjoy their writing style. They manage to endear the characters to me, usually within the first chapter, if not the first couple of paragraphs.
Derek fights the good fight against the risk of trusting and loving again and I can completely understand why, even if I did want to smack him upside the head occasionally. He is so sweet and damaged he just needs cuddling and Honey is the woman for the job. She is feisty, level headed, stubborn and completely lovable. They deserve each other without a doubt.
I've only read a couple of their books so far and while this wasn't my favorite, other than some grammar problems, I enjoyed this story a lot and would definitely recommend it to any of my friends.
I'd actually give this book a three and a half if I could. It would be a four but I was annoyed by a few things. In my opinion it took too long to get to the climax and then it was over.
Derek was wishy washy with his feelings and it drove me crazy. He was a big bad shifter who couldn't get over some slut cheating on him. The thing is, he said that he didn't love her so why then was he so bothered that she cheated? I had a hard time accepting his issue.
Over all, this was a good shifter book. The plot was entertaining.
Honey was an awesome, upbeat, and head strong character.
There was humor, heat, romance, some danger, suspense, and action weaved throughout this tale.
I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Everything about Honey Potts is driving bear shifter Derek out of his mind. Derek is determined to stay in his isolated celibacy mode, after all the one time he gave someone his heart she broke it in half. That was before he met Honey and she is tenacious, seductive, and Derek's bear wants her, but the man is not quite so sure.
Loved Honey, she is a hoot and so determined to win Derek. I loved that you get both sides of Honey and Derek's story. When he is around Honey it is so hard to say no to her, but he is reluctant to follow his heart. Thoroughly enjoyable story, if your looking for a humorous read to sink into this summer, this is one to pick up.
Couldn't put this down waiting for Derek to get his head out of his a@@. Next errors seen a man fight so hard against his bear. Happy reading everyone.
