This workbook breaks down Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- CBT - into common sense language in an actionable workbook format.

Instead of psychobabble, phrases and ideas explained in an easy to understand way and exercises giving application opportunities.

The author is careful to state that this is not meant to replace treatment for diagnosed mental health conditions or their treatment.

An insightful exercise book in a KU format.

CBT: A tool against negativity

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is elaborated in this book in a way that even the readers who do not have any background on psychology can understand. Writer Jonny Bell discusses this concept as an essential technique to combat negative disposition such as depression, anger, pain, etc., which can be helpful in dealing with trials. This book serves as a practical guide for readers who want to understand this method and apply it whenever they or any of their loved ones are down or in a difficult stage of their life. Each chapter is full of easy-to-follow explanations and concepts about this psychological tool as the author talks about the background and examples of CBT. This kind of therapy shows the importance of both the cognition and behavior to withstand problems. With this, Bell talks about the combination of the mind and actions for full healing and fast recovery from unending negativities surrounding us every single day. The essentials and fundamentals enumerated in this book, personally, is like a medicine for prevention or cure from the sickness of unpleasant feelings and emotions.

Before reading this book, I was somewhat familiar with cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT. I knew it was a treatment for certain disorders, including addiction, depression, and phobias. After seeing people I know struggling with depression, and addiction, I was anxious to read this and learn more. This is a good introduction to the subject – easy to understand, and it includes techniques and examples. There are case histories as well. I’ve already recommended it to a few friends.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

4.75/5

Easy and interesting book to read on CBT... And short! Provides a good intro on psychology and this concept. I think the book had a few editing/spelling mistakes which is why it is 4.75. Also, the book confused me with the first chapters of it seemed another book at the end. Is this the same book or not?
A good, quick read. I'd read other books by this author. I also enjoyed reading his author's note. The author really was interested in helping people and helping them learn about various psychological topics.

My one and only experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was about nine years ago while visiting a female counselor with my then-girlfriend. If I'd had this little book with me I would have known what the h*ll she was talking about and my then-girlfriend may have been better prepared to continue with the therapy than she was at that time. A highly informative book that is better presented than most and written by someone that knows their stuff. Recommended.

Basic outline

More examples would make this less theoretical. A good, basic understanding of how CBT works. No attempt to quantify how many people this approach helps.

Some awesome information, but a lot of stuff was mentioned without any evidence to back up the claims, which really put me off and made me question the whole book.
