Spicy Chapters: 15, 23, 27
Another hit from CL West! Another hot MMC swooping in to save another damsel in distress — and yes, I devoured it like it was my last meal. The story was great, but the humour and the banter? That’s what had me locked in. I laughed, I teared up, I had a full emotional buffet.
Aly is an EMT, all competence and big emotional walls. Mikey is the drummer for Kolt Davis and the Outlaws — a man who looks like trouble but falls like a lovesick idiot the second he literally collides with her. Then he saves her from a drunk driver and that moment becomes the spark he can’t shake. He falls fast and he falls hard. This man is out here second‑guessing every word, trying way too hard, tripping over his own feelings… and somehow it’s both cringe and adorable at the same time.
Aly’s into him — painfully obvious — but she’s got a whole suitcase of daddy issues and abandonment trauma she refuses to unpack. She doesn’t date, she doesn’t risk, and the second things get real, she shuts down. Which only feeds Mikey’s insecurities, because he’s out here stepping out of his former fuckboy era and trying to be the man she deserves… while wondering if he’s just setting himself up to get wrecked.
Their chemistry? Off the charts. The tension? Delicious. The slow burn? Torture in the best way. But you can feel it — that quiet dread in your chest — because nothing this intense stays perfect. Something always snaps.

Enjoyable Series
Really enjoyed Alyssa and Mikey's story. They met by happenstance and it was love at first sight for Mikey. That same day he saved her life from a drunk driver almost hitting her with their car. Alyssa has never had long relationships and has issues due to her birth father running out on her mother before she was born. Even though when Alyssa and Mikey obviously hit it off and have a great time together, as soon as Mikey says he's in love, Alyssa bolts and both their life's fall apart. Can these too get back together? Read the book!

Excellent second book
This is the second book in this series. Loved Mikey and Alyssa's story, very well written and full of romance. Highly recommended
