A newly freed three-thousand-year-old genie and a widowed cop with baggage. What could go wrong? Plenty goes wrong when Melody finally gets her wish and is freed from her lamp. With her previous master dead, Melody assumes she's free to pick her next one.
Jerry, the cop who s trying to help her, isn't going for it. He tried to save his wife from cancer, and failed. Which means he s no one to depend on. And why does he get all the crazy-lady cases? He doesn't want to run anyone's life, even one belonging to a hot self-professed genie who insists he should be her master.
As Melody learns to become her own master, she also discovers a thing or two about friendship...and dating men. The more independence Melody gains, the more Jerry realizes being needed isn t such a bad thing, and being wanted feels downright good.
But, is Jerry too late to win Melody from a handsome firefighter?

Born in Northeast Ohio, Christa has lived on four different continents (including both sides of Asia)and traveled extensively. She has an extremely elaborate fantasy life and has been known to forget that the bands she made up don't exist to the extent that she has shopped for their albums on iTunes.
I received this via publisher in return for an honest review. I don't gush and give false praise – I don't believe that helps readers or authors so what you read is what I truly feel about a book.
Its an unusual book featuring a freed Genie, Melody, and her attempts to live alone after her last master sets her free just before dying. She's been living with various masters for over 3,000 years so isn't used to thinking and taking care of herself. There are some humorous parts, not laugh out loud but quiet gentle humour. The police become involved after she's found cowering in a cupboard when Billy has been dead for four days. Gerry is kind to her at the police station and she decides she wants him for her new master – one she has chosen instead of being left to one assigned to her. Gerry isn't so sure though – her story sounds frankly weird but she clearly needs help and slowly he becomes entrenched in her life. He does feel attracted to her – to Melody that's simple, he wants her she wants him where's the problem? But Gerry is very moral and feels he'll be taking advantage of her vulnerability....
I loved the gentleness of the romance, Melody's odd quirks and simplistic attitude and Gerry's goodness. Its a short novel at only 67 pages and priced at £2.05 for quick readers like me that’s expensive esp as though I enjoyed the story its a one off read for me. Still, if you're a slow reader or simply want something easy and light to read to fill a train journey or similar its the perfect book.
Stars: a good read, as always well edited and a HEA - I love those : ) so a solid four stars from me.
