I never expected to find my pack in an all-alpha band, but each of them has come to mean so much to me, even the one who can’t stand me.
One of them is my bonded alpha.
Another is my obsessive caretaker.
One is my shy peacekeeper.
And one is someone I don’t understand… yet.
We’ve managed to find a fragile peace, but will it be enough? Will he choose me, or will I lose this alpha?
Someone is trying to remove me from the equation, but I refuse to let that happen because I am Oli Hart, the omega superstar, and this is my tour.
Author’s This is a medium to fast-burn, omegaverse, why-choose romance, meaning she doesn’t have to choose between her alphas. The story changes POVs between the main character and her men. The steaminess factor will go up as the duet goes on, and it is intended for 18+. This is book two of two and will end with a HEA.
I really enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to continuing on to see how the pack ended up moving forward. However, I was not a fan of this book. It started off strong and then became not the best. I grew extremely tired of reading “rose gold waves”. For the love of everything, we know she has rose gold waves. It was just too much for me personally. It did get repetitive at times and a lot of the same descriptions used over and over again. I honestly skimmed the last 30% of this book because I just wanted it to be over and that was generous. I forced myself to continue on after about 50%. The only thing I really loved above this was the evolution of Dax.

RH MMMM/Enemies to Lovers/Scent Match - Instalove/Omegaverse/Multi PoV
SYNOPSIS (of Duet): This story is set in Omegaverse where Omegas are considered less than. This is not dystopian and omega’s are not treated particularly badly they are just no considered on a level with Alphas. The FC, Olive (or Oli), is a successful singer which is rare for an Omega as most consider that Omega’s should simply stay at home and are not equipped to work or perform. The story opens with Oli’s usual band having decided to quit so Oli has to find an alternative band as she is just about to go on tour. Enter the “Edge” an all alpha band that just lost their lead singer. As soon as the alphas smell Oli they realise they are scent matches and are all in except for Dex who, due to his history, does not like or want an omega so is initially not very nice. The story arc covers the development of the alpha/omega relationship and how Dex comes around amidst a backdrop of someone coming after Oli and trying to hurt her. There is a HEA with a slight cliffhanger at the end of Book 1.
Heat Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆🍆🍆 Whilst Book 1 starts with a slow burn the pace picks up and by Book 2 about 60% of the Book is page after page of sex. Whilst the scenes are hot and steamy with individual and group scenes there were too many and they went on for too long (IMO).
The overall story is tooth decayingly sweet with insta attraction/love. Even the grumpy alpha who does not initially like Oli is not exactly nasty to her so there is no real bullying or any need for a redemption arc (although the author tries to create one). The author introduces some drama by way of the previous lead singer of the Edge’s band trash talking them and Oli and someone is trying to hurt her but it is all low level and there is no real angst or mystery and very limited drama and violence. In fact the story felt half hearted at best and by Book 2 the author was fully committed to just writing page after page of sex. Personally I like some depth and story to my romance and not just over the top, repetitive sex scenes so this did not work for me at all. I’m just glad I didn’t pay for this Duet but got it through KU.
There’s no development of the characters or any backstory (save a very small amount relating to Dex) which means the characters are two dimensional and shallow. I found Oli over the top nice and none of the alphas particularly individual so felt no connection or engagement with the characters or the story. The villains of the story are also very cardboard cut out and almost caricatures going from nothing to attempted murder (for no real reason) in less than 60 seconds! There are story gaps – what happened to the reporter that had it in for the Edge and why did she have it in for the Edge? Why did Trevor suddenly do a 180? - as well as random characters parachuted with little reasoning just to seemingly set up a next series. This all added to the feeling that the author was not really committed to writing a story but felt she couldn’t just write pages and pages of sex without some connectivity!
If you are looking for superficial and an excuse for lengthy, boring sex scenes then this is the Duet for you. If you are looking for any real romance, depth or story then give this a pass.
I really wanted to love this as much as Part One, but unfortunately, this second half didn’t hold my attention the way I hoped it would.
While it’s clear the story was meant to deepen the emotional connection between the characters, it felt like most of the book was padded with internal monologues and extended intimate scenes. The major turning point the big emotional moment doesn’t even happen until around 80%, and it’s resolved within just a few pages. By then, it felt a little too late to land the impact it was aiming for.
Honestly, this duet probably could’ve been a single, tighter novel. There were too few meaningful developments stretched over too many pages.
That said, there were things I enjoyed. Dax really shines in this book we get to see his softer side, and he finally gets the redemption arc he deserves. It’s clear he’s been falling for Oli for a while, but didn’t believe he was worthy of her, and watching him slowly come to terms with that was rewarding. His emotional growth was one of the highlights of this story.
The musical references were also a nice touch, adding a layer of personality to the writing. And while the pacing didn’t work for me overall, fans who love slow burn emotional bonds and introspective characters might enjoy the quiet depth of this installment.
Both books were good overall. I would say they are a great pallet cleanser. The writing is great, but the book is mostly cute moments and spicy scenes. If you’re looking for a cutesy omegaverse romance this is definitely a good book for you. If your wanting angst and action I wouldn’t recommend this series. I enjoyed reading this book, and I loved all the girl power included, especially for it to be an omegaverse. The only reason I wouldn’t rank this any higher than three stars is for the simple fact that I personally felt like this could have been condensed into one book. The first book had me hooked, I devoured it in a night. The second book dragged on a bit, it mostly had fluff and fillers, the plot could have been solved in a few chapters. I found myself skimming the last few chapters. I do definitely recommend giving it a read though! I needed a low stress book and this hit the mark!
What a sweet conclusion to Olive and her alpha's story.
We picked right back up as Part 1 concludes. I love that we saw a softer side to Dax, and he got the redemption that he deserved. It was pretty obvious that he was already falling hard and fast for Oli but didn't think he was worthy of her. Dax had to overcome a lot and let Oli in to finally see that he is deserving of love and ultimately Oli as a mate.
Oli and her mates grew even closer, and that only strengthened their bond.
We learned the reason why Trevor did what he did, but I think it could have been described in more detail as it was just a generalised explanation/ kind of vague (not sure if that was on purpose).
Overall, it was a great ending to Olive and her mates story. I am still obsessed with Aiden. He is the sweetest alpha.
I liked the beginning, mostly because it followed up on the cliffhanger from part 1, but the resolution felt pretty anticlimactic to me. The conflict was hanging over them so long I was expecting a proper climax to the story and was kinda disappointed. I probably would have DNFd this if I didn't like the characters as much as I did...and I needed to make sure they had a happy ending because they were happy and settled well before the overarching conflict was resolved which is why it took me so long to finish it...being maybe halfway in (can't remember the exact %) and seeing them all happy and settling down together and realizing there's still so much book left makes you worry something bad is gonna happen, and I hate characters I like getting their happiness taken.
This did not need to be a duet. It could quite easily have been done in one book, I'm getting really tired of authors stretching out the storyline to create a series/duet. Especially when there isn't the plot for it like this one. I was bored with this one, nothing really happens until the last 10%. The dialogue was cringey, the amount of times I had to read a full conversation about how perfect she was, I ended up skipping a load of the repetitive conversations. Most of the book is smex tbh and it's all so repetitive, if you're going to do lots of smut in the book at least vary it!
Overall, I wouldn't bother which is a shame as the first book was ok.
For me, this book did not land as well as the first. I felt like there were few pivotal moments overshadowed by lots of intimacy and internal monologuing. It felt like a lot of filler content, and I think that the duet probably could have been a single well written book. That being said, the book is well written, and it is full of musical references. It just did not capture and keep my attention. This book mainly was the characters deepening their bonds with the big angst scene not even occuring until about 80% and only lasting a few pages.
I really liked that this picked up directly where book one ended and resolved that cliff hanger. However, I really struggled to finish this book. It felt like I just really dragged through it and some of the “action” was just very anticlimactic for me. If part one and part two could’ve been condensed into one book I think I would have liked it more. I was honestly just kind of tired and ready for it to be over about halfway through. I liked the authors writing style, but having this be two parts just wasn’t my favorite.
It had a pretty huge plot hole though 😅 if may and Trevor were wanted all police forces across the US would be informed and looking not to mention TSA. So unless they had fake ID and passports I have no clue how they made it to Scotland 🤣🤣🤣 also the ending dragged and was just a whole bunch of sex like don’t get me wrong loved it just felt a little excessive for the ending
Honestly the story could have been told with just one book. There was lots of “filler” content in my opinion that either wasn’t necessary to the overall story or was repetitive. I finished the book to find out how the story ended, but I started to loose interest about 40% thru.
This book was a fantastic conclusion to Oli and her guys story. I loved watching everything come together and totally fell in love with all the characters. I would recommend giving this book a read.
I went into this one excited after loving Part 1, but I have to admit it took me months to finish. I just couldn’t get into it the same way, even though the plot and spice were still really good. The story still had great moments and strong character chemistry, but it didn’t grab me as much this time.
That said, I really like seeing D.M. Page’s continued growth as a writer and how she builds her worlds and relationships. I’ll keep reading her series because I enjoy her style and creativity, even when one doesn’t hit quite as hard for me.
