Sent to help an overwhelmed cavalry, Lieutenant Colt Prescott is afraid of nothing, cowed by no one, and ready to ride for what he believes. . .Colt
Hannah Brownley is a Texas girl, through and through. Defiant even after being held prisoner for years by the Comanche, her spirit has kept her fighting--and kept her alive. And it's not about to be broken now by a so-called rescue that's separated her from the one person who matters--her son.
But Colt cannot let Hannah return to her captors, even if doing so would appease the ruthless warrior endangering his fort. Nor can he forget her haunted moonlit eyes that seem to see through him, to his deepest desires. Which leaves him no choice: to find Hannah's child and be the hero she's always deserved. . .or die trying.

Texas man, Texas girl, Texas grit, Texas this, Texas that... The repetitive references to all things Texas were so silly and annoyingly annoying. It was entirely overdone. The story itself isn't too bad, except that it reads like an abridged version as though some details were left out. The characters were shallow and unreal. Colt seemed so stupid to kero going on and on with the She's so beautiful gushing about Olivia when her vainness was took apparent, why could he break it off with her? Silly, silly. I don't know why I didn't abandon this one. I don't.
This one, like Rio, has a LOT of "because I'm/your Texan" crap too. I don't think you can get through even one chapter without being beaten over the head with them being Texan! Got it the first dozen times. This isn't even the only thing you're constantly reminded, there's also how Colt spent 10 years with the Comanche. Seriously he would tell this multiple times to the same people! And the most annoying one was how beautiful the commanders daughter was and how he or any man would be lucky to marry her.
Colt was the most wishy-washy H! He couldn't decide if he wanted to reenlist in the army or become a Texas rancher. Or to marry the "beauty" or the woman he was obviously in love with or to leave both behind. Just when you think he's going to get his s*** together, he falls through and can't make up his own mind AGAIN! Colt FINALLY made up his mind at the VERY end of the book! By then I didn't even care anymore and just wanted this never-ending story to be over.
COLT(THE TEXANS) by Georgina Gentry is a wonderful historical romance set in 1852 Texas plains. It is the third“The Texans” series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “Rio”,and “Diablo”. Having loved reading Georgina Gentry in my younger years, I eagerly jumped at the chance to read her latest book, Colt. The plot wasn’t necessarily new and fresh but still enjoyable none the less.
I found myself drawn into the story right from the start and felt a strong connection with both Colt and Hannah. Hannah was a very strong, fiercely independent woman who was dealt a rough, tough and harsh life from a very young age. Even though Colt was engaged to someone else, he found himself drawn to Hannah’s strength and determination. The romance between Hannah and Colt bloomed over time at a slow and sweet pace throughout the entire book.
While the over the top references to “”being a Texan”" became a bit cheesy by the end of the story, overall I found it to be an enjoyable read.
Even though this is book 3 of The Texans series, it definitely can be read as a standalone. In fact I look forward to reading books 1 and 2 to see what connection they make with this story. Also, I cannot wait to get my hands on upcoming book 4, Travis which will be featuring Hannah’s half-Comanche son from this story.
Do you enjoy high levels of sass from your lead heroines? Does the melody of mid 1800's tickle your fancy? And does the simple needing of strong arms and protective nature of a man come to you every now and then?
Well then check out this book. If you have read Outlander and would love to find another Jamie Frasier then you'll fall in love with Lieutenant Colt. Georgina Gentry has written a wonderful book that contains as much laughter as it does seriousness. Both characters were wonderfully done and their love story flowed so seamlessly that I was surprised to find myself looking at the clock and realizing it was already 3 am. Find this, buy this and keep it in your stash for when you need a love story that can send you into a fit of giggles.
This was just bad. Was there an edits involved with this book? I was good with the guilty pleasure love story, but the author would regularly use the same clauses at the beginning and end of sentences, or repeat phrases again and again. It just seemed to fail basic writing.
Like all her other books, this one was fabulous. I love reading Georgina Gentry's books. Where I work at a Library, we can not keep her books on our shelves. Awesome author awesome books.
