I love the way his poems can give me whiplash. I find myself engrossed in a theme and related metaphors only to be surprised with a new theme. I also appreciate the way the poems blend familiar themes (marriage, gardens) with creative imagery (rogue porcupine, sliding around a the cabin like a picpocket)
