August Bask is set on becoming one of the greatest composers to ever live. But he is not the only one with this aspiration. August enters into a rivalry that will change his life and the world of music forever. There are certain things one must sacrifice to achieve the life of a musical genius. August does his best to recount the events of his life that led him to heights no one could have ever predicted. Sometimes the obsessive pursuit of perfection is not worth it.
Set in Canada in the 1800s and written in autobiographical style, Bask tells the story of a boy genius who was thrust into fame and robbed of his childhood. There are many prices that must be paid when walking the path of fame. August is neither ready nor willing to pay all of them. But pay them he must.

My newest literary fiction book is here. If you are a fan of Charles Dickens, or the literary period of the 1800s in general, I recommend you try Bask. It might be your next favourite book.
This likely won't be the last book I write in this time period.
Fantastic fictional Canadian story with a great story line and characters, if you like Dickens then this book will resonate with you. As a side note this book is also written by a young Canadian author at a most pivotal time given the events occurring at the time of writing this review, again fantastic writing and story,,
T.R. Preston has once again demonstrated his exceptional talent. I am continually impressed by his creativity and intellect. This latest book marks a significant departure from Preston's typical fantasy genre, and I was pleasantly surprised by how captivating I found the story.
The protagonist, Bask, is a complex character who elicited a range of emotions from me. At times, I found myself cheering for him, while at other moments, I was frustrated by his actions. Each character that Bask encounters is fully developed, intriguing, and adds considerable depth to the narrative.
As a music enthusiast, I particularly appreciated the musical elements woven into the story.
