My mates are gone, the packs are fractured, and our world teeters on the edge of ruin. If the corrupt Eastern leaders keep their stranglehold on the Council, there’ll be nothing left worth fighting for.
I know what I have to run. This time, though, I’m running straight into the heart of danger. And I’m not alone.
But our allies and our bonds may not be enough when we discover the secrets that have festered in the heart of one final pack.
The battle will take the lives of shifters on both sides. When the ones left standing turn to me, the pack reject, I have to choose to punish the evil, or save the innocent.
Is it time to rage, or to rule?
Pack Rage is the fourth and final main book in The Splintered Bond, a medium-dark paranormal wolf shifter slow build, slow burn series, where the heroine will not have to choose between her love interests. The publication date will be moved forward.
Once upon a time, Merri Bright tucked romance novels behind all her textbooks and read love stories instead of the lessons. Now she writes the same kind of books she’s always loved, dreaming up stories about naughty angels, misunderstood demons, sexy shifters, growly Alpha males, and all sorts of dragons.
She drinks cinnamon tea while she writes, and believes in the power of naps, kitten cuddles, and long walks with her dog. Come watch Merri be socially awkward at Merri’s FB page or Instagram @merribright, or email her at merri@merribright.com.
I loved this series and this book was an epic conclusion for it. The story had some incredibly intense and heartbreaking moments, loads of spice, and she kicked back up the levels of chaotic humor. (Such a fan of Bo and Leroy over here.) I highly recommend this for fans of fated mates, shifter romance, and why choose relationships!
ARC Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️1/2 “I wouldn’t live a single day without you, beloved. None of us would. What use is forever, if you’re not there?”
Cue the sobbing! What an emotional end to the Splintered Bonds series. Emotional and action-packed goodness! Can we talk about that epic final battle against the baddies?! Edge of the seat drama and danger.
Shoutout to Merri Bright for the series recap! I wish all authors included them. My goldfish brain needs the gentle reminder.
This book was the story of Finn’s redemption. In his, Flor’s, and her mates’ eyes. I wouldn’t say I loved him in the end (that distinction stayed with Brand and Grigor) but I understood him and felt for his plight. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, he made the choice he thought was best.
Flor was just as badass as usual. And Grigor, just as bloodthirsty. I love the psycho, scorched earth MMC even more than the golden retriever type (Sorry Glen, you’re a sweetheart and the perfect counter to Grigor, just lacking that stabby-vibe I crave).
While danger abounds, there is still some levity in the story. Flor’s creative and colorful swearing. Grigor’s “not a mate bond” with the others. Glen’s inability to be serious.
Mixed burn and spicy, this story ends in a well-deserved HEA. I highly recommend checking out that extended epilogue for some super spicy goodness.
2.5 stars. I felt this book was drawn out and the full story line could have been a trilogy. Was hard to finish but wanted to know how it ended. The first two books where amazing.
Perfectly concluded the series! I absolutely devoured this book, Merri is fantastic and writes amazing FMC’s who definitely don’t need no man but some how end up with 5 😂
*eta2* final review Wow. Just wow. What an amazing finish to this series. The redemption arcs (plural!!) are *chef’s kiss* and I love when it’s written so well that even characters some people almost hated, you can’t help but love. I 100% laughed out loud many times I for sure cried several times I absolutely needed to fan my face and clutch my pearls multiple times My heart broke more than once My heart mended along the way as well The plot is so well thought out and all the things that you wondered or questioned or freaked out about do get dealt with at some point in the series, possibly not til the last second, but it happens. The number of things that happen in this book is wild, like truly insane. As usual Merri writes a compelling edge of your seat battle scene that is so well described I feel like I watched it happen. I don’t want to do any spoilers but it’s hard because I just want to relive my favourite parts. I love Flor, I want to be Flor. I love her guys, every single one of them for all their amazing qualities and their less amazing qualities that they learn and grow from. Ill miss this series so deeply
*eta1* This book is amazing. The series is amazing. I wish it could go forever
*og* I’ve been reading this on Ream while waiting for the full book to come out and it’s totally amazing. I love this series so much! The plot, the world building, the depth of the characters and the growth over the series has been so enthralling to read. I can’t wait for the whole book to come out
This series is amazing. The characters, the plot, the message. It all works together to bring readers a full story with emotional highs and lows that make you want to cry with joy and grief.
In this last part, the tension is ramped up so high, you'll want to race to the finish while also wanting to slow it all down to savor the triumph. Flor is a top tier fmc, and her mates are perfect for her. The author has weaved the best of humanity into Flor's being, and the principles upheld by her put to shame the political injustices history can't seem to save us from in reality.
We have here a healthy dose of feminine rage put to its best use in protecting those weaker and rising above all foes when people care enough to come together for the good of everyone.
I loved the ending to this series. The character development is just 👌🏻 top tier. Flor’s story is over but there were definitely a few things left open-ended that I hope we get a future book for (Tana!?!?). This was such a captivating world and I love the mix of witchcraft and moon magic. I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!
Wow, what a breathtaking final book in this action packed trilogy.I definitely needed the recap of the first two books to get me back to speed with everything. There’s been so much happening with Flor and her mates. Love that she’s reconnected with family and her and her mates are finally starting to strengthen their bonds. They definitely need to with the evil they have to defeat. So good to see them triumph by working together to give everyone the justice they deserve. The storyline has been amazing, so packed with action I had to keep stopping to digest it all. So sad to see some characters perish in the battles but so good to see the abusers get their just desserts. Flor has matured as a person over the course of the series, been great to track her development from the pack reject to alpha mother and queen to her mates. It’s been a rough ride but she’s got there despite the many sacrifices and obstacles in her path. Loved this book, going to read again now the series is complete, it’s that good.
This is such an amazing series and the final book is phenomenal. Ream chapters are great but looking forward to reading the finished book. Merri Bright is an immensely talented author. Heading to the deserved ending for Flor and her guys. So sad the journey is ending!
I think the final book in the series, while keeping my interest, had some filler and lag points where I felt like we were getting exposition in a “tell, not show” fashion. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this series and will look forward to more from Merri Bright.
I don't know why but I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the other three. It seemed long, drawn out, and some things just seemed predictable. I was glad she finally got all of her guys together but it seemed disconnected.
I took a star off due to the complexity of the climax. There was So many moving parts that it was hard to keep track what was going on. Merri brought back characters that hadn’t been seen since the 2nd book and it was hard to place who that person was and what their history was with the main characters. I really loved how gentle Flor was with Finnick. She didn’t push him, or punish him. She forgave him and then her wolf when she was able to shift again forgave his wolf as well. She and the others understood how hesitancy before jumping into bed with her. I feel like their bonding was the perfect conclusion to their story, their ups and downs. I also loved how Grigore aka Joaquin’s character. He had his redemption throughout the entire series. He was described as the boogy man from everyone’s past, and he redeemed himself by sticking up for all those weaker than all those enforcers and alphas. All they wanted to do was take their power away from them to make them feel bigger. Grigore hunted them all down and made flower arrangements of their guts and bones, all these flower arrangements for Flor. In honour of her name Flor. He won over each of the guys in a natural way, bonded with each of them, all while reassuring them that he would do whatever he could to keep her safe. Brand, Lucas, Glen, they all were good to her, great even, but their relationships with their parents were super complicated as it was all messed up with politics of being Alpha. The only one that seemed to have a good relationship with their parents was Glen, but his mother Marguerite. Her character was written originally as this savior, a kind strong protective mother figure. Then she turned into someone that was pushing Flor to mate Glen, almost blackmailing her. Showing Flor a side to her that was the complete opposite to how was originally described. Marguerite and her husband the alpha Bradley enforced secret rules within their pack enforcers to not allow the younger wolves to move up in ranks. They would put them against someone overly strong and over size. They both didn’t even realize the male enforcers and ranked male wolves forced themselves on the unranked woman, that were in a dorm building quite a ways from the pack house. No one heard their screams. A ranked female that was the niece of Marguerite sicced the male ranked wolves on Flor when she first arrived, to hunt her and rape her, since Flor was the target of the hunt for years in her southern pack. All these bullies under their oblivious nose. When Flor finally blasts them about their injustices in their own pack, they realized their error. Started to realize how oblivious they really were. Bradley let Aiden, the eastern alpha to take over as Alpha of Alphas on the Council. He was an evil bastard and there were signs to show this through the book but again, oblivious. Due to Bradley and Marguerite ineptness in keeping an eye on the other packs, they let in an even bigger monster. That wanted to rule them all with an iron fist. Thankfully Glen started to see his parents in a different light. They weren’t bad, but they were just as culpable to the bad behaviour happening in their packs and the other packs. Marguerite apologizes to Flor and her quick judgment on all the mates she had, but the rose colored glasses came off a long time ago. I don’t know how to feel about her, as her ending in the story didn’t return character back to the perfect mother to Glen and Flor. I feel like Flors own mother, Lilly had a better redemption than Glens mom did, and Lilly barely had any screen time. My heart really hurt for her, what she went through was so difficult but she kept going. Alpha Callaway deserved a far worse end than what he got. He was still raping women from his cell on the Easterns alpha pack house. They were gifted to him. All that he did to Lilly, Flor, Lucas and every other kind hearted soul in the Southern pack. He deserved chapters of planning and then executing their plans on torturing him before killing him. The build up of his horrible character didn’t match how quick his ending was. Lucas also got his redemption in this book. It really started in the 3rd book but it was finalized in this one. I’m so glad we got to read their point of views. It really opened up the stories in a way that allowed the reader to feel what the characters feel. I didn’t like how say 2 of the main characters talk about their past and why they act the way they do. It’s hard to explain but knowing personal memories of others then reading other characters view points, their bond feels natural and where one is weak another is strong, but being vulnerable isn’t a strength any of them have. I’m am glad we got a few chapters worth of how everyone settled in with everyone following the old rules, no rank besides Alpha and Alpha Mother. Overall this is a solid 4 star book. The overall series, I would rate 4.5.
Man I 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒈𝒈𝒍𝒆𝒅 with this book. I had to take breaks and come back, hoping to reignite the excitement. I never did. The only reason I’m moderately happy right now is because we had a decent percentage of the book dedicated to wrapping things up in a nice, satisfying bow, and because I have finally 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝.
4 books is an achievement for me, especially considering the mood swings I get into. I mean, I stayed! I’m still here and it’s the end.
What I liked about Pack Rage: ~ We get a rewarding, HEA ending with everything tied up. ~ It was great to finally see all of her men together as one group, and in the same space. They haven’t all been together till now I think. ~ The men adored and worshiped the hell out of her. Loved it. Probably one of my fav things. ~ I enjoyed certain smaller aspects of the plot - females becoming Alpha. Women using whatever they have on hand as weapons and being successful with it. Women being in the position of power, good and bad. Just the whole empowerment of women in general in this series. The true mates idea. Being blessed by the moon. Balancing witchy and wolfy power. Lots of little bits and pieces like these which still make the book worth reading.
What I didn’t like about Pack Rage: ~ They were so stupid sometimes. Easily drawn into obvious traps despite seeing it beforehand. Falling prey to everything under the sun. The men were almost conceited when approaching a problem. They had an infallible and unsubstantiated view that they could handle all the hard stuff coming their way. Spoiler alert, they couldn’t. ~ Hope. Ohhh the “hope” 😩🤦🏽♀️. Kill me now because hope sprang eternal despite all reasoning. Please, come up with a plan! Also a backup if possible. Maybe two or three backups. Don’t just leave it to fate and HOPE. ~ The flukes. Literally fluked surviving multiple times. It’s put down to being because of the moon and fate. Hated that reasoning. It means they didn’t win on merit, they won on luck. Eugh. ~ The f-ing bleeding hearts! Oh my goodness, if someone needs to die just end them already! All the way back in book one Luke had the opportunity to end the Southern Alpha but did he? Nooooo. No, no. That would’ve been too easy. Instead he hesitated and Bradley got the slip on him. This reminds me of the Avengers scene where they try and pry the gauntlet off whats-his-name’s hand and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t just chop it off. It’s that scenario, but with wussy shifter wolves who have enough honour to sink a boat but won’t live long enough to sail it. 𝐃𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭. Just please, please, stop hesitating at crucial moments. It makes you look weak because we all damn well know you’re going to go back and kill that character later, just with more scars by then. ~ The spice. I’m going to be honest…didn’t like it. We got some spice, but a lot was fade to black, some was closed door. All in all there wasn’t enough. This woman has FIVE MEN. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒙. It was too much “flowers in a field” and not enough “raw against a tree”. The men waxed poetic all the day long but never got DOWN to it. I also felt like the spice had been dumbed down a little. More YA maybe instead of Adult? 🤷🏽♀️ Sheesh, maybe I need a head check. ~ Flors name. IT NEVER GETS BETTER. Her full name is Florida Witch Wills. What the hell Merri?! 😩🙈😅 ~ All the habits and skills Flor used in book one which made her such a badass were largely missing in book 4. Made me a little sad.
Would I still recommend this series despite my unhappy review? I would say 🆈🅴🆂. It is still enjoyable and entertaining. Plus what I find tedious doesn’t necessarily mean someone else will.
The first book? Almost a 5 star read. It was so good. The second maybe a 4.5 Third a solid 4.2 Last a 3.8
I hardly put this series down once I started it. It was great! The characters were all unique, there were various problems and multiple enemies, and there was always something going on. The growth of the characters, both primary and secondary ones, was also very noticeable throughout the books.
Brand seemed to need the least growth in the book, in my opinion. He was raised learning the "old ways" of the pack and wolf laws, which helped him be closer to both his wolf and the moon goddess. The only thing with him was that he feared magic, as most wolves were raised to be. However, as time went on, he learned that there was a balance that was needed. Magic and the power of the moon really had no difference, and that's something he had to come to terms with. Glen thought his pack was perfect and honorable. It wasn't until Flor came to his pack and opened both his and his parents' eyes to the corruption that was going on right under their noses. Some of it was even due to his own parents' actions. He found he couldn't remain in the pack any longer and had to find a new place for himself. He just knew wherever it was, it would be with Flor.
Flinn was in a tough spot. He seems to push Flor away right from the start. We learn that his pack is a horrible place, and he's suffered for a long time under his parents' thumb. He went through abuse, torture, and did horrible, despicable things under their command. It just got worse when he was older, things that ended up hurting both him and Flor. Flinn felt unworthy of her and was ashamed. He couldn't forgive himself, and certainly didn't expect his mate to forgive him, either. Eventually, some of the weight is lifted off of his shoulders thanks to his brothers, and he begins to fight to become the man he wants to be, was meant to be.
Luke is another who believes he isn't worthy of being Flor's mate. He did what he could go protect her from the cruelty of their pack, but was unable to do much. It takes time for both him and Flor to decide to leave the past in the past and move forward.
Grigor was probably my favourite character, next to Brand. I always love a good psychotic, unhinged, stabby, slightly obsessed guy in the group! To say he has a bad reputation is a complete understatement... and one that he's probably deserved. The guys don't want him anywhere near Flor, but eventuality, one by one, reluctantly acknowledge it's going to happen whether they like it or not. He will do anything for her, including give up his own life (which he nearly does, multiple times). While he only originally cared for her, he helped those that she cared about, even if he found them lacking. Over time, he begins to get closer to the other mates Flor has collected and begins to consider them brothers. He also agrees to maybe tone the psycho back a bit... by making sure anyone who mysteriously becomes a victim at least is deserving of it, first!
The battle is a lengthy part of this book. Considering this whole 4 book series has been leading up to it, I'm glad it wasn't just finished with a single fight or wrapped up in one chapter. Rather, the battle takes up a decent chunk of the book and is told by all of the characters' points of view, sometimes even overlapping, so we don't miss anything vital. It's very well done!
If you like shifters, fated mates, and an underdog story, you'll love this series!
RH MMMMM/Shifters & Witches/Enemies to Lovers Multi PoV
SYNOPSIS (of 4 Book Series): This story is set in a world where shifters exist without the humans knowing. There are 4 North American packs which form the North American shifter counsel headed by the Alpha and each of the Alpha’s heirs for the 4 regions: Southern, North Eastern, Eastern and North. The Western pack was eliminated some 10 plus years prior. The FC, Flor, is a member of the Southern pack which is a chauvinistic, misogynistic pack ruled over by a power-hungry bully of an Alpha where women are treated like slaves and only those shifters with rank are considered of any consequence. For no other reason than the Alpha has decreed it so, Flor is considered the pack reject and has spent the past 4 years being hunted by the male enforcer shifters in a game where if they catch her they are allowed to forcibly mate her. She manages to escape her fate when she meets her fated mates, 4 shifters from each region, and leaves Southern. The story covers how the FC falls for each of her mates and they fall for her, her real background, the fight against corruption in the shifter council and those who want to see her dead.
Heat Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆🍆 The sex scenes are hot with some group but mainly one on one scenes, no MM, and mainly vanilla. There are enough scenes to add heat to the story but not so many that they take over the books.
Overall I found this to be an enjoyable shifter story with only a few editing and typo niggles. It’s not unique and there are some inconsistencies but it is still enjoyable in a popcorn read kind of way. There is enough action, drama and heat to keep the reader engaged although there are areas where the story seems to just be treading water and the story could be tightened up.
No this isn’t an original story and it ticks the usual boxes ✅: the FC is initially portrayed as a runt who has suffered horrible abuse, she then finds her mates (who, on the whole, adore her) and she morphs into this strong heroine who is destined to save all shifters and who everyone thinks is amazing 😏. There is a big bad villain (“mwah ha ha” type) and a few low level baddies.
The FC is a strong, kick ass type with a very southern, crude mouth on her and a blunt talking way of presenting herself. Occasionally this came across as a bit juvenile. As a whole I liked her but there were times when she was just portrayed as too perfect. Everywhere she went she seemed to find things that were wrong and needed to be fixed which made here come across as preachy and too perfect as she was always the one telling others how they should be doing things and how they had been doing things wrong. The author seemed to go a bit over the top with the theme of an FC who had suffered horribly and who then became a crusader for women and abuse. Also, instead of allowing what the FC had gone through to gradually feed into the story this author took the short cut of the FC having no problem telling everyone how sad her story was and how much she had been through. For me it was a bit whiny at times and I find this approach by an author of getting information across as lazy and lacking in depth.
The MCs are all strong individuals some of which have their own standard, abusive backstory and all of which are possessive and fall almost instantly for the FC despite her not having proved herself or giving them any reason to fall for her.
If you can ignore the niggles and inconsistencies and just sit back this is an enjoyable ride. Not a keeper for me but still a fun read with some good fights, angst and general comeuppance for the villains.
Get ready for an action-packed and hard fought HEA. Flor and her mates are outnumbered and separated. Finn, Luke, and Grigor are in enemy hands. Brand, Glen, and Flor must figure out a way to get them while also not falling for the numerous traps placed in front of them. Their enemies have had literal decades to amass power and sow corruption. It's time to face and unmask them all before the gathered packs. Who will stand with them, and who will turn their backs?
We get a nice recap for the previous books in the series and then pick up where we left off. The action, the danger, the very real possibility that not everyone would come out unscathed. There are quite a few reveals in this book that had my jaw-dropping. Especially with just how evil Elina and Aiden are. I didn't expect to so quickly become attached to some of the new characters that were introduced. The worry was real that they wouldn't make it. We did lose some people, and while I always expected one of them, there was another I didn't think would happen. My heart hurt for the ones left behind you could definitely see how hard carrying on was for them.
While Flor and her mates story is over, don't worry, looks like some of the side characters will be getting their own books. I'm so freaking happy about that. There were so many characters introduced throughout the series I would love to see what happens with them. Like Patrick and his mate. The Tenebris pack and Sergeant. The new packs that were introduced and what's happening with Tana. You know what? Just keep writing all you want Merri Bright cause I'm over here wanting to read about them all.
Pack Rage by Merri Bright Final book in Splintered Bond Series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶💀💀💀 Spellbinding wolf shifters read. A beautiful balance between suspense and relief. I found myself emerging into the characters' growth and determination. It was the driving force in my read. Flor captured my attention and held it with her tenacity, strength, and hope. Brand, my Bearman, stole my heart from the start. Grigor with his macabre flower arrangements had me swooning. Glen's humour, Luke's unwavering strength, and Finn's brokenness. These Alphas survived despite being outnumbered, bound by silver, and cut off from the moon. Their togetherness was perfect. There were probably a whole lot of other things involved, interesting things. However, the characters were my love in this from the main cast to Sergant, Bo and Leroy, and mysterious Tana. Merri Bright has the uncanny ability to create characters you root for and obsess over. Tropes: Shifters. Fated mates. Forced Proximity. Why choose. Kickass FMC. Triggers. Quotes: “How many bones did you break when you jumped out of a moving airplane, Bearman? How are you even alive?” “I had to get to you, my love. I couldn’t wait.” His reply was immediate and raw.
“Have you met our queen? I half- expected her to tear a hole in the wall here, or tunnel through the floor, any second. She is a wonder.”
“I could ask the same. Should I be jealous? You’ve given Finn two marks now.” “Never. You were my first. And you gave me a lake. Hard to top that.”
what entire series was a journey, and even this book, things get worse before they finally get better and Flor gets her HEA with her men. the world building was incredible. there so much going on other than just a shifter world.
i forgot you how hilarious Flor is. her southern really came out more in this book with funny shit she said, esp in serious situations. and who knew that Bo & Leroy were going to be lovable and hilarious side character 🤣😂
Flor has even more development with all her men, esp with Finn and her addressing what she felt in her bond in the last book. Finn had to work on his own feelings of not feeling worthy enough for Flor, and he also got support from the other guys. the guys also had development with Grigor and accepting his bond with Flor.
i appreciated the final “fight scene” wasn’t just a few pages long and actually addressed so much and played out in a way where we could see it from everyone’s POV. everyone had a moment to fight who they needed to.
also, i appreciate Merri putting a recap of the series at the beginning of the book.
this entire series was so good and i’m sad but happy the series is over bc Flor finally gets her HEA at her lake ♡
The last book in The Splintered Bond’s Series, Pack Rage, was a beautiful ending for Flor and her mates. With 5 guys to please, you can be sure that this book is packed with spicy bits if that is what you are looking for. On the other hand, the story is action packed, full of emotion and loads of hope. I loved the mix between moon magic and witchcraft. The characters are complex and there are so many people that have been treated horribly that need someone to help eradicate the evil from the packs. With Flor’s past, she is a strong advocate for the weaker shifters and is vocal about all the problems when she sees them.
The story is a mosaic of 4 main packs that all have problems that are brought to the light because Flor is able to see them for what they are. There are smaller packs but we find that they are mostly used as a vote for the Council. There are also packs from Europe that become intertwined with this main story. The inner dialogue between Flor and her mates is absolutely hilarious and the fact that they will never have a moment alone again is so funny. There were so many heartfelt moments as well as hilarious banter. Plus the sprinkling of “sparkles” reminded me of Merri Bright’s The Lost Angel series which was just as epic and hilarious of a series that I also recommend.
I am looking forward to any spin-offs that may be brewing!! I can think of a couple good ones!!
It's such a bittersweet feeling, knowing this series is now complete... I loved it from start to finish, and while it was amazing to read this final book and watch them reach their happily ever after, I'm also emotionally not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet. Flor wil remain one of my favorite fmc's for years to come, but even every single one of these men carved out a little place in my heart. Without a doubt I'm placing this series on my very short reread list to pick it up again in the future whenever I need to read something I already know will be amazing. Quite often I see readers looking for a series that starts out great, and manages to keep that feeling until the end. Well... this is the one you want to read!
This final book in the series is action-packed, and I loved seeing some side characters meet karma. I love how the author takes her time to show the characters' emotions as well, while balancing it out wonderfully with some sentences and scenes to make readers gniffle and drop a bit of the tension this story builds up in them. If you like this author's work and humor, you'll love this series. Honestly, it's my favorite series by her so far, although I have to admit they all stick close to each other in 'the favorites list'. So once my emotions about saying goodbye to Flor and her men manage to settle down, I'll definitely start to become excited to find out what will be next.
Final book in the series and as you can imagine Merri took us for a ride. I cannot lie I felt the stress Flor and her mates were under, we finally got the answers to many of the questions we had, the packs stood up to the evil couple, and of course I cried bcs spoiler alert..... we had some loses, it was inevitable, at it brought more realism and felling to the story. The ending of this series is what we deserved (although I would have loved more of those six), the multiple POVs help you to be in all the places were things are happening and you scream in your head when they are taking dumb decisions, I am looking at you Brand!! We have forgiveness and revenge. Also like I have mentioned before in pretty much all my reviews, Merri does not only focuses on the main characters, even the smallest ones have depth and you feel intrigued to know their story making the book richer in flavor. But yeah guys lets stand up against a bad council and fight for the rights of every single shifter in the packs. In this case we do need to the old ways.
"The strong protect the weak, and the Alpha protects the pack." Brand Becker.
I totally recommend you this series if you want to read about shifters, why choose, foul mouthed heroines and an enticing plot full of secrets and deception.
The North American packs are in trouble; once again on the edge of war or destruction. The East is making their move to take over, and the only thing that stands between them and absolute power are Flor and her mates. With a little magic and blessings from the moon, they may stand a chance.
Fantastic! Flor will go down as my favorite reject of all time. She made me feel. I would laugh on one page and cry on the next. She managed to scare me, choke me with rage, and inspire me all in one scene. Few characters have a sense of purity like she had. Her mates all won me over by the end, but none compared to Brand. I loved that man. His absolute devotion and strength of character were pure sexiness. I loved how this group came together. “Not a mate bond” holds a special place in my Fictional Hall of Fame.
This book isn't just about the characters, however. The plot was excellent. With the blend of witchcraft, moon magic, Gregor madness, and sheer Flor ingenuity, I stayed on edge. It was so well thought out and suspenseful until the end. Between the carefully crafted actions of the characters and the happy missteps, it was a thrilling ride. It was full of surprises, sacrifices, and successes. For every obstacle the group overcame, another would surface, making it a worthy battle. It made the finale all the sweeter.
Truly one of the best book series and books that I have ever read. This series has been an action packed emotional roller coaster from the very first page of Pack Reject, and has only become even more so as the series has progressed. And, Pack Rage definitely does not disappoint in this regard! This book picks up right where the last book left off. Luke and Grigor have been taken prisoner, and have been taken to Eastern Pack. So, it is up to Flor, Brand, Glen, and their allies to save them as well as Finnick. Along the way, many questions will be answered, bonds will be mended, friendships will be made, hearts will be broken, and you will find yourself laughing, crying, and experiencing multiple emotions in between. But, I can promise you that all will be well. Just make sure to stock up on kleenex and your favorite comfort food, and settle in for a wild ride. In the end, you will likely be emotionally drained, but it will so be worth it. Now, to do some rereading, while I wait to see what other adventures Merri has in store for us in this beautiful new world she has created.
Pack Rage is the fourth and final book in The Splintered Bond Series. It is a why choose, paranormal, fated mates, wolf shifter romance with magic, action, revenge, forgiveness, and so much more.
Flor and her mates have much to set right before they can enjoy their well fought for HEA together. There is an epic battle, a tremendous loss, lots of grief, and large amounts of power exchanged.
This was a terrific conclusion to this series. The story was addictive. Each book was more intriguing than the last and they kept me wanting more. I loved the characters, both the main and secondary ones, and their growth throughout their journey. I also loved where everyone ended up. It was the perfect ending.
The writing, pace, plot, and flow of the story was awesome, as were the characters, character development, relationship development, storytelling, storyline, and world building. If you love a great why choose, fated mates story with a strong FMC who fights for what's right, then I'd highly recommend this series.
Book four, the final book of the series luckily includes a recap of the previous four books because I’ve read so many books since book three, I would’ve never remembered what had happened.
It starts with Flor, Glen, and Brand, still in the cave outside Southern and my issue with this is the lack of a sense of urgency when her other 3 mates have been kidnapped by Eastern. I understand the nature of the mate bonds almost forcing them into sexual contact, but how is Flor not freaking out more and feeling the same for her other mates, whether they’re fully bonded or not.
This entire series, my biggest complaints have been the lack of urgency and tension, as well as the smut and how it comes at the expense of literally everything else. Smut for smuts sake is not something I enjoy, I’m here for the plot first and foremost and I believe the smut needs to be woven in naturally, in a way that doesn’t detract from the main plot. Unfortunately, this series never really manages that. And for some reason, most of the smut in this book is a vague reference after the fact. The chapters where the smut is detailed feel very forced and awkward. And please god stop using the phrase make love, it’s cringy and not at all sexy.
I was not invested in this book at all in the early chapters and it took me way longer than usual to get through it. It wasn’t until chapter 9 that I started to get into it but by chapter 29, I just wanted it over with. This book felt a lot longer than it was. I almost stopped before I got through 50% but I’d invested too much time in this series already.
There are some interesting twists and turns but a lot of unnecessary planning for what amounts to a Hail Mary of a plan in the heat of the moment. So many stupid choices were made, things counter to the characters various actions thus far, merely to attempt to increase the tension and urgency.
I am not a fan of trying to justify the cheating. I understand why Finn thought it was necessary, but at the same time, the way he saved his sister had nothing to do with the woman he cheated with and it’s inexcusable.
I found the familial relationship between two of the mates incredibly off putting and frankly disgusting when one essentially got the other off.
The timing of the bonding between Grigor and Flor was a fairly major plot hole considering he’d said it was better to not be bonded so he could take on the witch.
Normally I’m a fan of multi POV books but this one had too many and switched between them too often, that all it really accomplished was breaking the tension and disrupting the flow.
In the end, I couldn’t stomach reading any more and stopped to find something else for a while. Maybe I’ll come back to finish this, but it seems unlikely.
