Has a book ever made you so emotional and nostalgic that you cried? To me, it happened while reading this book.

The Hundred Acre Kingdom is a sequel to Winnie the Pooh, following the adventures of Christopher Robin’s daughter, Clover. On a dark and stormy night, Cristopher introduces his daughter to two friends that helped him when he was scared: a small pig and a bear. (Recognize them?) So clover creates a new world with her father’s toys, and transforms the Hundred Acre in a world with castles, knights and fantastical beasts where she can be a brave hunter. But then a terrible threat comes for the Kingdom…

The hardcover looks like a beautiful, magical storybook, complete with gorgeous illustrations on the inside. Reading the physical book rather than an ebook made the experience even more magical. Going back to the Hundred Acre after all these years, seeing the characters I loved as a child (and still do) and seeing them reimagined, the themes of growing up, the inevitability of change…it all hit me right in the feels. When I finished the book, I was in tears. I was ugly crying.

If you loved Winnie the Pooh too, and you also love stories with knights and adventure, you want to check out this little treasure of a book.

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.

Thank you to the author for the gifted hardcover copy. Opinions are my own.

As a young girl, I would create entire worlds and plots for the adventures of my stuffed animals. And perhaps that vivid imagination is why I was always so enamored with the stories of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin.

THE HUNDRED ACRE KINGDOM is a love letter to all those kids who grew up on Winnie the Pooh, and a new adventure for all generations to enjoy. This book is thought to be a sequel to Winnie the Pooh and follows the adventures of Clover, Christopher Robin's daughter, with her dad's beloved friends. But in Clover's world the characters we know and love are reimagined. For example? Piglet is a brave archer, Tigger is a serious and noble knight, and Roo is a little prince getting himself into all sorts of trouble (morally gray anyone?)

I couldn't be more in love with this book! With simple, vivid storytelling that goes straight for the heart and beautiful illustrations throughout, this is a story for readers of all ages. It made me so nostalgic, but at the same time Clover's Hundred Acre Kingdom is a completely new world filled with surprises, plot twists and thrilling adventure. A must-read for all Disney lovers!

Beautifully written tale, one of which I believe older fans of the Hundred Acre Woods will appreciate and enjoy on a deeper level as they’ve grown up, but younger audiences will enjoy this read too.

Walker is not only a storyteller who knows how to properly formulate and execute a proper narrative, but also capture emotion and inspirational imagination within their illustrations. There were so many as well—the amount of time and effort put into each one must’ve been immense but I believe worth it. I loved studying the pictures as I read, they’re an important element to the story’s themes meant to work in tandem with the book itself.

Not only was Walker able to faithfully and effectively bring all these familiar characters and places into the light once more, reminding me why I fell in love with each part of this world before, but the additions and twists were very attention catching and refreshingly innovative.

Tigger as a brave knight? Steampunk heffalumps and deathly woozles? The Eeyore? Oh my, all of it was so exciting and alluring, it felt like exploring something new that also felt like a home that was once in my childhood. I only wish that there could have been more exposition and maybe even POV’s of each of the characters to expand on this such grand adventure, both coming from light and dark sides.

I’d recommended The Hundred Acre Kingdom to anyone who enjoyed the adventures with Christopher Robin and his friends, or those in search for a classical fairytale with love and light poured into it.

Excellent coming-of-age story with ample high quality artwork. Familiarity with Winnie-the-Pooh stories aren't necessary, as this sequel functions well on its own. Highly recommended for children and adults alike.
