Finn was doing a good job living in the present, until his past came tumbling back into his life along with Levi, the friend he'd thought he'd lost forever.

Finn

Promises always got broken. I'd believed that since I was a kid. My parents had broken a promise when they abandoned me and my siblings, foster homes had broken promises when they tried to separate us, and Levi had broken his when he failed to come to my rescue.

Fourteen years later, I discovered the truth that changed everything: Levi hadn't broken his promise, he was in Mistvale, and I could get to know him and his sweet familiar. People rarely got to fall in love with their first crush, and I had the chance, if I could just figure out how to let go of the past.

Levi

When I moved to Mistvale, the last person I expected to run into was Finn. Delighted to see him alive and eager to catch up, I was ecstatic when my familiar told me he was my mate. With a little bit of help from her and the residents of Mistvale, I was determined to win Finn's heart and make him mine.

Realizing we were both still dealing with the after-effects of our shared trauma wasn't really a surprise, but discovering we were stronger together was. Finn might be scared of his powers, but they couldn't harm me. I might've been afraid of settling down, but with him, it was easy to do.

Finn's Solace is an MM paranormal romance featuring a basilisk afraid of his powers and haunted by the past, an earth mage who loves nourishing plants and people alike, and a skunk familiar expert at recon missions. Set in the magical small town of Mistvale, it features second chances, hurt/comfort, loving found—and extended—families, furry companions, and all the fluff.

Finn's Solace is the second book in the Heirs of Mistvale series, and features the story of Jai and Raphael's (from Touch of Magic) son. While it can be read as a standalone, you'll meet other characters from the Mistvale series inside.

I adore the town of Mistvale, it's one of my favorite series and the spinoffs that incorporate the town I've enjoyed as well. So for there to be a new series solely based around the kids of the Mistvale Clan? Sign me right up!!

Finn and Levi knew each other as kids when they were both caught in a horrific situation. One escaped, and one got rescued, never to see the other again.. Until now, when they run into each other in Mistvale and from there is where their story begins.

Finn and Levi both have suffered horrors due to the hands of monsters, but both have also experienced a lot of joy because of the people that have come into their lives. Neither of these men expected to see the other again but fate always has a plan. I liked how this was more of a slow burn romance, it wouldn't of made sense for them to have an insta-love relationship because of what they had gone through in their shared past. I enjoyed how they got to know each other as adults and the dates they went on were so romantic and so sweet!

Greta is absolutely fantastic, she stole the show, or rather, the story. She's sassy, loyal, and fierce, and I love how she had such a big part to play in this book. The romance itself was great, but what I loved the most was being able to past characters coming back on this story. Its so much fun reading about those characters as parents from the kids' POV, I'm so excited to see who else gets a book in this series! I'm also very curious about a certain duck...

As usual, I got a kick out of the types of beings in this installment. Each kind of supe, familiar, and couple is something I never expect. They are atypical in the best way. I can never guess what will be written about next or how the story will turn out. It's refreshing and exciting every time something new is released.

Levi and Finn's experiences taught me a lot about the importance of second chances and keeping in mind that there could be so many reasons for the way that someone behaves or their actions. Those are not always initially clear in the moment. One might not know the truth until later. It can be challenging to not make snap judgements.

Although I have never gone through trauma or had severe nightmares myself, I think that the way that they were approached, delicately discussed, and responded to was done in a thoughtful and respectful manner. Thank you for talking about the importance and impact of therapy as well.

There are a ton of cute, funny, and serious moments all rolled into one awesome story.

I received an ARC of this book and am sharing an honest review.

Finn has spent years guarding himself from broken promises—abandoned by parents, separated from siblings, and left behind by Levi, the childhood friend he once trusted most. But when Levi reappears in Mistvale, everything Finn thought he knew is upended. Levi hadn’t abandoned him—he’d been lost too. Now, with Levi’s sweet familiar by his side and a second chance in front of him, Finn must decide whether to let go of the past and embrace the possibility of love with his first crush. Levi is overjoyed to find Finn alive and even more stunned to learn they’re fated mates. Determined to win Finn’s heart, Levi leans on Mistvale’s magic and community to help them both heal. Together, they confront old wounds, rediscover trust, and learn that love—especially the kind that survives time and trauma—is worth fighting for.

I loved this story of rediscovery, resilience, and the quiet magic of coming home to someone who never truly left your heart. The two men were so sweet together and I was rooting for them. A lot of feelings and emotions in this story but also a forever love. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book and it has all the sweetness that I’ve come to expect from one of Stella Rainbow’s stories. I thought it was a good addition to the Heirs of Mistvale Series. This book is connected to Stella’s Mistvale universe books while it can be read as a standalone, the Heirs of Mistvale Series tells the stories of characters who were kids in the previous Mistvale books. This is fated mates story between Finn (basilisk) & Levi (earth mage). I thought that they were great together and their chemistry was completely off the charts.

I really liked that they actually spent time getting to know each other again before they formed their bond. I’m glad that they found their way back to each other after all this time. It was cute the length that Levi went to make a safe space for Finn to be able to let his basilisk side out. I’m looking forward to reading Miles’s book next, as well as more books by Stella in the future. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

******I received a slightly early copy of this book because I’m a member of Stella’s Patreon. I happily reviewed this book and I would do so even if I purchased it. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******

4.5/5 This was a sweet, low-angst romance. Levi and Finn are united by childhood trauma but have had almost fifteen years to grow up. It was awesome to see Jai and Raphael’s kids grown up and happy. I really enjoyed seeing Levi and Finn get to reunite and resolve some of those old feelings. I thought they were very cute together. I loved Greta, Levi’s skunk familiar—not something you get to see everyday!

Finn has some trauma around his shifted form as well, and I loved how accepting Levi was. It was so nice to see Finn settle more into his skin. I appreciated the positive therapy rep. It was fun to see what Levi could do with his powers. These two definitely deserve their HEA!

I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

!ARC Review Time!

Leave it to the magical land of Mistvale to help heal, console, comfort and gather those who are lost.
Finn's Solace finds it's place among the damaged and lonely souls that gather within Mistvale.

This is a high emotional driven story of two people who had the most horrendous past, broke apart and eventually find themselves together again.
Friends- Strangers- Enemies-Lovers.

Throughout the book we get little snippets of Finn & Levi's origin story. We've seen this situation play out through so many of the Mistvale+ series. But we now get to see Finn & Levi fitting themselves together again.

Finn has done well for himself over the years but he still has a lot of hangs ups he deals with throughout the book. Levi is patient and present which helps balance Finn out perfect. What do you expect from perfect fated mates.

Their intense emotional connection keeps your chest warm with patience, love and understanding. With comedic relief from none other than Finn's dads lol. I love the whole family and the future of the family going forwards.

This book is one of personal journey, recovery & learning to move forward even when it's hard. Mistvale has a presence about it that help heal it's citizens and Fate really seems to love Mistvale.

Overall, like any Stella Rainbow book there is always a lot of plot, emotional distress with character history, comedic relief when needed, pure love and pining, low angst & a dash of spice. Swirl that into the world building that Stella excels at for her ever growing world and you have a great book that never lets you fall.

✨ We’re back in Mistvale—a place full of wonder, magic, and second chances. ✨

Two childhood friends who thought they'd lost each other forever are reunited.
When Finn sees Levi again, it’s like a slap to the heart. Can he really believe Levi didn’t abandon him all those years ago?

As the story unfolds, we watch them slowly rebuild what they lost—this time, turning it into something even deeper. 💔➡️❤️

The magic practically pours off the pages, pulling you into their world with every chapter.

And now I can’t wait to see which of the Mistvale kids gets their fairy tale ending next! 🧚‍♂️📖✨

This book was exactly what I needed. Finn and Levi’s story is fluffy, sweet, and absolutely comforting.

I’m a sucker for fated mates, especially when both characters can truly feel they were meant to be together.

Add in my all time favorite found family vibes and previous characters from past books, and I’m sold.

What I love the most about this book is the very low angst. It’s always good to read a book and not have your anxiety skyrocketing 😅

Can’t wait to read more of the Mistvale second generation.

I absolutely loved this story. I absolutely love Mistvale and all of its characters. This was a wonderful story with fantastic characters and amazing world building. I am so excited to see the kids start getting their own HEA’s. I loved the first generation and I am really enjoying the second generation also. For your true enjoyment you really should read all of the books in this series because you will see a lot of familiar faces. I really love this whole world and I can’t wait for more.

Finn’s Solace a sweet, heartfelt story about second chances and healing. Finn and Levi reconnect after a dark past, and what unfolds is tender, emotional, and full of quiet chemistry. Their bond feels real and earned—so much so, you’ll want to reach into the pages and give them both a huge hug. Funny moments, deep feels, and a love that sneaks up on them in the best way.

I received this ARC from author via BookFunnel and voluntarily leaving my review.

From Doloris:
I loved this book. You can’t help but feel the emotions that plagued Finn, not only about Levi turning up in Mistvale but also about his own personal struggles. I loved how Levi stepped up and helped Finn come to terms with his feelings. If you have read any of the Mistvale stories you know what a great read it will be. You will not be disappointed.

I loved reading Finn and Levi’s story, it was great to see how Finn’s life had turned out after being rescued and living with his adopted dads.

Finn and Levi

Finn and his two siblings were held by black witches when they were young. Their friend and protector Levi was able to escape. Fast forward and Finn runs into Levi at the grocery store. Who knew that they were to be more than friends.
I loved reading this book! The Mistvale series is a favorite of mine and this joins that wonderful world. Highly Recommended

Levi moves to Mistvale and immediately finds his familiar and his childhood friend Finn. Friends to mates to happily ever after with a little hurt/comfort thrown in. A beautiful love story as our dear author does best!

A sweet fated mated story! Levi and Finn were beautiful together. They get a second chance after being ripped apart. Their familiars were adorable too and so freaking sweet.

Another great read

I just love reading about the kidnapped kids growing up and finding love. We get Finna and Levi who just happens to be one of the kids that escaped. This is more of an emotional read than the previous book. Finn has a lot of trauma he still struggles with, but Levi is there for him to lean on for support. We have older characters from other books and of course a pack gathering. Side note of dragon babies! This is a slow burn love story. Enjoy

It was okay. I really liked all the characters. I just found it a bit boring. I wanted a bit more conflict. Still it wasn't bad and I did enjoy it for the most part.

I am just so in love with Stella's Mistvale series. Absolutely captivating characters who meet their father mates and get their heads. Sounds simple and uninspiring but Stella writes her books absolutely perfectly taking you in a true joyride!! Just loved this and all the others! Simply perfect

I voluntarily read an ARC for this book. Finn and Levi are cute together but it’s really Greta who steals the show! I love how we get to see others from Mistvale we have already meet but they don’t take away from Finn and Levi and their budding relationship and dynamic with each other. characters are being brought full circle and it’s also great how Ms Rainbow is leaving us little hints about where we will be going next in Mistvale.

Finn and Levi’s book is so sweet. I really love fated mates books where both characters are exactly what the other person needs, and second chance at first crush is such a sweet and cozy trope. Add to that the found family/past characters making an appearance and this book is the low angst (very low) hug I wanted today. This book is wonderfully written and has just the right amount of spice. It can be read as a stand alone and I recommend you read it!
