Can he learn to trust a stranger when all he’s known is pain?
Eli might have escaped the conversion camp with his life, but now he’s trapped inside his own head. Eli and his brother, Mia, are left to fend for themselves in a world that does not accept them. With no other choice, the two are forced to live in an abandoned warehouse.
Plagued by the complications of PTSD, finding a job isn’t easy for Eli. He knows they’ve struck bottom when Mia turns to prostitution, and the guilt is eating him alive. This isn’t the way their freedom was supposed to work. Hopelessness threatens to consume Eli, until he meets someone who offers to help.
Dr. Alex Howard comes across Eli suffering a major panic attack in the bathroom at an event in the hospital. Frustrated at his colleague’s lazy treatment of the young man, Alex is convinced Eli needs a friend. He sets out to help boost the younger man’s confidence, and to help him heal.
He doesn’t expect to develop feelings for Eli, and though he’s technically not crossing any boundaries, Alex is hesitant to act on his attraction.
Will Eli be able to move beyond his past? And can the two find romance in the process?
Evie Riley believes too much time spent at the beach is barely enough. She enjoys spending time puttering in the garden, cooking yummy things for her family, and has a quirky personality, described by her partner as ranging from cute to deadly, depending on her blood-chocolate levels.
Evie crafts steamy gay male romance filled with all the edgy angst, or dark and gritty romantic suspense where her men must overcome difficult obstacles and may find love along the way while dishing out their own brand of justice.
Evie spends her nights writing bad boys in love, and her days wrangling the sweet boys she loves.
I found this book utterly emotional Wow the storyline of this book broke my heart because we know that these things happen in this day and age. This book should open peoples eyes. Eli has just escaped a living hell. He was sent to a conversion camp because he is gay when he was 15 years old. now nearly 3 years later after torture that was beyond evil he finds himself out in the world with only one person having his back. Another boy from the conversion camp who thankfully was only there a few months. When Eli was out in a mall one day looking for work he had a flashback panic attack whatever it was he left damage behind and got himself arrested. He didn’t even know what happened to him. Thankfully the police understood what he had been through when they had taken into court the judge got him to seek psychiatric help to see if there was anything that could help Eli with coping mechanisms. This Decision changed his life really, not because he had a psychologist who gave a damn because this is how he met Alex. Alex was a psychologist who had helped a number of the boys from the conversion camp he has been invited to a thank you breakfast at the hospital for all the staff that took part helping the survivors. As Alex Walked into the bathroom he witnessed a young man on the floor having a panic attack. One look in his man’s eyes Alex knew he was one of the survivors but what he also felt was attraction. Thankfully he talked Eli down but he suddenly bolted to the doors and out of the hospital. But Alex knew in that second that he wanted to help him but not as a patient he wanted to help him because he wanted him to survive. In the middle of the night Alex once again came across the Eli and when he offered to take him home to have something to eat he was surprised when Eli agreed. Alex first needed to form a friendship for anything else to come of this and he knew it was gonna be slow work but Alex knew it would be worth it in the long run. Eli Couldn’t understand why he trusted Alex. There was something different about him and the more time that they spent together the more relaxed he felt. He knew Alex couldn’t be attracted to him maybe they could be friends. With all the pain that is in this book beneath it is a beautiful story of a young man learning to trust again after he has been through hell. Eli was amazing how he listened to Alex and knew to reach out to him when he needed him. Alex was just the perfect amount of patience and pushing for Eli to come out of his shell. There’s more to the story there’s another big part of the story that I’m hoping we’ll find out in another book whatever happened to that person. But honestly I cried so much throughout this book but I couldn’t put it down I just had to finish it hoping and praying that Eli would get there. A great read.

Eli survived a conversion camp but has flashbacks and he meets Alex when he helps him through one. Eli had spent two and a half year in a conversion camp where they tried to make boys like him into straight men. The torture he enduredhas badly messed uphis brain and left him with PTSD. When he has a flashback and does damage he is lucky to encounter a policeman who recognises the signs of where he had beenand helps him work it out. Then he helps a function to thank the hospital staff who had dealt with them on their release from the camp and has another episode and is brought out of it by a doctor Alex who befriends him.

4.5 Stars This series just keeps getting more additive. We have Eli and Alex in this book and my heart broke for Eli. Eli has been through so much and he is not getting the help he should be. Alex has been trying to help as many camp survives as possible but he was not ready to be drawn to Eli the way he was. These two are wonderful together and I loved how Alex was willing to do things at Eli pase and help him with his every day struggles. I can't wait to see what happens next and I really hope Mia comes back. I would highly recommend this book, this series, and Ms. Eve as a fantastic author.

This was such a good book! It brought out all my emotions. My heart broke for Eli and the horrors he's been through in a conversion camp for two and a half years. It hurt to see his struggles and the pressure on him to survive, cope with the trauma and PTSD, all while homeless, and getting "tough love" "help" from his psychiatrist. And he was only eighteen. I can't even imagine! Alex was such a kind and patient person. His calm demeanor, perception, and the way he encouraged and reaffirmed Eli's accomplishments was exactly the balm Eli's heart and soul needed to slowly begin to heal. I loved watching their relationship unfold. A beautiful story. 5 stars.
4,5 I have been following this series along and Eve Riley keeps creating amazing characters ore revisit them more in depth once they get ' their story'. This book is all about wonderful, atrong, breakable Eli who was rescued from a conversion camp after having been held captive for years. And now just wants to create a safe life for himself and his found brother ( in camp) Mia. Alex is helping survivors from the camp and finds Eli, not his patient one day and helps him deal with the affects from his PTSD. He is wnthralled by the younger man and just wants to take care for him but has to be careful to not be his medical carer. Their story is one of waiting, attention, care and time. This is a hurt comfort story with low heat but plenty of cuddles and care. I I can't wait for the next book because I read some considences in this book and wonder if they become clearer in the next book. And ofcourse I need to know about Mia and I hope Eve Riley will answer that question in the following novella/ book.

Hidden is a deep, psychological drama about survivors of a gay conversion camp. The revelations about past horrors that were suffered by these teenage boys are very disturbing to read, particularly as I believe such victims suffer far worse in the real camps in the US. The hero of the story is a psychiatrist who won't give up on a survivor with PTSD, who has mostly given up on having any future. Love and patience light the path to a new future. My heart hurt for what Eli went through before he was even 18! He might have PTSD but he is such a strong and determined soul! Alex was drawn to Eli and his entire being wanted to help and comfort Eli. He was haunted by his mismatched eyes. So sweet and subtlety romantic! The first half of this book was heartbreaking realistic. What happens to young children when their parents do not accept them. This is a slow burn hurt comfort love story with a little angst and a lot of hope!
Eli didn't know if he could love again. After all the terrible things that happened to him at the conversion camp. He can't handle anyone being close or touching him. Therapy isn't helping at all. Now he has to go to a luncheon.
Alex finds Eli in the middle of the luncheon having a panic attack. Can he help Eli, he is also falling in love with him. Can it happen.
Good story.

Hidden was an emotional journey for me. My heart broke for Eli and all he had gone through. Your parents are supposed to love you unconditionally! He was sent to a conversion camp at a young age. Three years late he is on the streets. One day he has a panic attack and Alex steps in to help him. Alex is a psychologist and has helped young boys that have gone through similar situations. Overall, this is a beautiful story, well written.
All the emotional garbage these young men went through in the conversion camps breaks your heart. While this may be a story, it was such a moving topic that each of the young men in the series sticks with me. Eli and Mia's connection cannot be finished because we need to find out what Mia is going through.

Eli had been in a conversion camp for two and a half years. He's finally safe but his life is a mess. Alex is a psychiatrist who have been helping the survivors of the conversion camp. when he finds Eli in a bathroom having a panic attack, he knows he has to help him because he finds he has feelings for him. I really enjoyed this book.
Eli deserves all the hugs in the world. This series just keeps tugging at your heart but it gives comfort back too. Alex makes the perfect partner for Eli and helps him towards healing.
Such an emotional roller-coaster, Eli is so deserving of all the love he can get from Alex. This book is another great one in a series full of good books, I loved the storyline and the wonderful characters. This is a slow-burn, low angst, hurt/comfort book and I highly recommend it.
