Sol and his little brother escaped the abuse of their foster father only to end up on the streets. Always on the move, they wind up in a small town that oddly feels like home. It’s the first place that ever has, so they make plans to stick around and set up in a local tent city.
Sol keeps River safe and healthy no matter what, but after their home is raided, Sol is worried about their future. River's new social worker offers help that Sol just can’t refuse. Despite his growing attraction to Isaiah, Sol is convinced the older man could never want someone as tainted and broken as he is.
Isaiah sees beyond to the caring big brother who has given everything to make sure his sibling is provided for. The social worker doesn't care about Sol's past. Despite the fact the two brothers have been homeless for the last four years, it doesn't define either of them.
Nor does it change the way Isaiah views the man Sol has become. Truth is, he finds Sol simply amazing and his attraction to the younger man is undeniable. The two are caught up in an emotional upheaval one night when River goes missing. As he comforts Sol, Isaiah realizes he can no longer keep his feelings to himself.
Can the two forge the kind of future together that Sol has never dreamed possible?
Evie Riley believes too much time spent at the beach is barely enough. She enjoys spending time puttering in the garden, cooking yummy things for her family, and has a quirky personality, described by her partner as ranging from cute to deadly, depending on her blood-chocolate levels.
Evie crafts steamy gay male romance filled with all the edgy angst, or dark and gritty romantic suspense where her men must overcome difficult obstacles and may find love along the way while dishing out their own brand of justice.
Evie spends her nights writing bad boys in love, and her days wrangling the sweet boys she loves.
I applaud the author, Eve Riley, for tackling gritty, heart wrenching and difficult topics that involve children and illegal activities. Not many authors are willing or brave enough to write a story that brings attention to abusers and their victims.

This book broke my heart Firstly let me say this is the last book in the series called from the edge and although This series has touched some really awful events Eve has wrote them so well that you feel every emotion that these guys have been through. It’s been wrote with understanding, passion and compassion for people that have gone through these situations. Sol and his brother River have basically been on the run for four years. Their parents were awful and they both ended up in a foster care home with a guy called Philip. Everything started wonderful and the boys finally feel at home they had hot meals , they had hot water they had a foster parent that cared about them. That was until Sol at the age of 11 heard Philip coming to his room late at night for special time. And this abuse carried on for four years until Sol got a little bit too old for Phillips liking and he started looking at River so Sol knew he had to get them out of there. At the age of 15 Sol knew he needed to protect his brother! They ended up in a small town where Sol had heard there was work going and he found a safe haven for River to stay at with one of the homeless guys. Sol He’s an amazing brother. Everything he does is for River. River is a unique child even to the point that Sol thinks he’s a genius. And Max the homeless guy that looks after river when Sol has to go out to work has so many stories to tell. So that’s fine, work and things are starting to look up for them both. They live in in Tent City Sol makes sure that their clothes are clean that they wash and they have food. But one day when Sol is at work police come to close down tent city and River ends up in the hands of the social services. Isaiah Is a social worker on a task force to fight for children who have been taken advantage of. Isaiah himself had been part of a cult really his mother had been married at the age of 12 to basically be a breeder. Thankfully Isaiah got out of there were five of his sisters and that determines what he did with his life he didn’t want other children to suffer. When he finds River at tent city he can tell that this little boy is unique. He won’t tell him his name he starts talking in riddles and tells him he needs to earn his name. Isaiah likes him straight away. And then he meets Sol, for the first time Isaiah feels real attraction. But he knows he has to go slow but he can tell that Sol been hurt in the past. This book is about learning to trust again because Sol has to protect himself and River because basically he has kidnapped his brother and taking him across state lines so he can’t tell that to Isaiah. Even if he wants to. He still has to stay vigilant in case Philip does come and try and take them home. This is a lot of worries to have on a 19-year-old Man. And Isaiah just wants to help. Isaiah had so much patience with Sol, to let him go at his pace, to learn about everything that they have been through. Although it is sickening in parts of what has happened to Sol the actual connection that Isaiah and Sol have is so subtly beautiful. Another fantastic read that I couldn’t put it down. I am so excited to see what Eve has in store for us next.

This story will put Sol and Isaiah together to provide love and hope for Sol and his 12-year-old brother, River. Throughout the abuse that Sol has to endure, he puts his brother first always. He takes care of him. When an abusive foster father starts looking toward River, Sol knows it is no longer safe to stay and they have to run.
Sol takes them to a tent city and events put them into Isaiah’s path. Isaiah is a social worker who looks out for children in danger in the system. And he is more than willing to help Sol and River. Isaiah has seen all that Sol has done for his brother and is amazed. But when River is missing and Sol is falling apart, Isaiah comforts him and knows that Sol means more to him than he was willing to admit to himself.
Isaiah calls in friends to help off-the-record, as Isaiah had to do with his own sisters when he was forced to kidnap them in the past to get them to safety. If he went now to the police, they would have to send River back to Phillip Morris, and River would be hurt by the evil man, the same way he had taken Sol’s innocence. So Sol watched, confused, as Isaiah worked his magic and waited for his contacts to give them the information they needed to find River themselves. Isaiah had to tell Sol the truth so that he would not lose his trust. So he told him he worked on a task force with federal agents and local police to save kids being harmed. Isaiah then places the children in a safe place with family or a reliable foster home. They find out Phillip Morris is indeed the one who took River, and Damien, a private investigator friend of Isaiah, tells them to check local motels first. Will they get River back? How will they get him away from Phillip Morris who is armed and delusional? Will Isaiah, Sol, and River find a way to become a family built on love if they can survive this horrible experience?
This story, breaks your heart then heals it. Sol, and his younger brother, River escaped an abusive foster Dad, Phillip. Four years later, they ended up in a tent city that got raided. Isiah, worked on the task force tracking the FLDS entity reprogramming children. The group was armed with military style weapons, so they made the radar. Isiah, has history with FLDS and he escaped with 5 of his sisters as soon as he could. He was challenged by a system that did not fully support all the unknown needs of the clients. He met Sol and River when River was swept up in the raid. Sol, knew he had a challenge to keep himself and River safe while avoiding Phillip. Isiah just wanted to help all kids. Then as he got to know Sol and River, he wanted Sol to succeed. Good story, you read waiting for the other shoe to drop. Does Sol find a safe place for River to soar? Is Phillip out of the picture? Does Sol find a good solution for his expenses? Will Isiah speak up? Very good read. Have your hankies ready. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this novel and will be going back to discover the previous books in this series.
What a strong person Sol was and the way he was determined to do whatever it took to keep his little brother River safe was admirable. What Sol went through at the hands of his abuser was heartbreaking and hard to read, knowing this happens to children on a daily basis makes it even harder to think about.
Isaiah was exactly the kind of person we need more of working in a system that continually lets children and their abusers slip through the cracks. As a social worker, he goes above and beyond to help Sol and River, that he is attracted to Sol and could see past what he'd been through to the person he was said a lot about him.
There are some heavy themes running through this novel, but Eve Riley does a really good job of pulling you in, tossing your emotions about and still making you feel happy at the end. There were a few twists in the story I didn't see coming and some less than legal ways of dealing with a couple of problems, but I can't say I blame anyone involved in the way they handled things, the legal system being as it is, I completely understood.
For my first read by this author, I am really impressed and will definitely be reading more.
This is a well written book with strong characters and a heartbreaking storyline. The author does a great job developing both her characters and story and pulled me in from page one right to the end. She deals with some tough issues and handles them perfectly. I was glued to the pages reading Isaiah and Sol's stories, all the issues they had to deal with and Sol still living in fear for his brother. It's a story of sexual and physical abuse, homelessness and the determination on both men's parts to make things better for their siblings and others. I loved reading their story and would recommend reading. Warning: There are trigger warnings.

4.5 Stars This was a great book. Eve is a truly a gifted and talented author. This is book 6 of this series and it just keeps getting better and better. Sol and Isaiah are perfect for each other. Sol and River are just trying to survive in this life and thanks to Isaiah they are able to do so. This book will hurt your heart but also makes you appreciate life and love. I can't wait to see what Eve Riley has in store for us next.

Sol will protect his younger brother but can Isaiah help. Sol had taken his brother and run when his perverted foster father moved his gaze to River. Four years later they have just moved into a tent city full of homeless people when while he was trying to get work at a construction site it is raided and a social worker take River. Sol is surprised helpful the Isaiah te social work is in trying to get them off the streets. WARNING Triggers for physical and sexual abuse in the back story.

The author finishes up the series, for now, with book six. It is another heartwrenching and touching book. Sol who kept his little brother safe by taking all the hurt and pain. Isaiah who just wants to help and ease his own childhood burden. All the characters took a piece of my heart and I am glad to read that they survive and now learn to just live without (to much) current fear and a slowly healing heart and soul.

Isaiah is a social worker that helps River and also Sol, River's big brother. But he comes to care for and love Sol. Sol worries that the difficulties of his past make him someone that Isaiah can love but Isaiah sees the strength and caring in the struggle that Sol has waged to keep them going. This was such a good series that brings together difficult life circumstances and the hope that can come with the right person and a little help from caring people.

This was a tough and touching hurt comfort story. Sol is one strong young guy who has been dedicated to saving his young brother from going through all the horrors he has experienced. This story was gritty, emotional and real. Isiah was a hero but not in the expected way. He was a quiet, smart and supportive man, not a physically strong take charge man. It was beautiful to see Sol fight for his freedom and to work so hard to provide for his brother River who was such a special young boy!
This series is thought provoking and emotionally touching. The characters go through a lot of dark events that are emotionally triggering. I like how the author brings to light so many different topics. Isaiah isn't everyone's perfect partner, but he is for Sol. I enjoyed how Sol was able to see the person behind the clothing.

Knowing there are kids out there that have to fin for themselves is sad. That being said this was a wonderful book with some complex characters. Sol ran away to protect his brother and found help where he never expected. This may be the last book for now but there are still a lot of questions to be answered later.

This series has been so great, and this one is just as an emotional journey as the rest. It's never an easy topic to discuss trauma and illegal activities with children, but Eve Riley does a great job at writing about it. I love that Sol saw through to the type of person Isiah is instead of just looking at the physical.
This was such a good book. Wonderful characters. An emotional and very realistic story of trauma, abuse, and homelessness. Also of family and love. It is a journey- and one that I couldn't put down. This author has a way of completely sucking me in. 4 stars.
