Anne Rainey creates steamy romance stories with just the right amount of heat. Her books frequent best seller and top pick review lists. Anne is an accomplished author of over thirty titles. Anne grew up in a small town in central Ohio the only girl with three rowdy, older brothers. When she wasn’t playing tackle football with them she could be found tucked away in her mother’s book room getting lost in mysterious worlds created by authors such as Martha Grimes and Andrew M. Greeley. She’s had a variety of odd jobs including Chiropractic Assistant, Frame Stylist, Restaurant Hostess, and Nail Technician. Anne now lives with her fabulous husband, two gorgeous teenage daughters, two ornery dogs and three snooty cats.
Not bad, but I've read better by this author. This story was about 70% sex, 30% slight suspense plot. The sex scenes were hot, but too many of them sort of diluted the steam, and I was a bit tempted to skim (but I didn't)!
Wade Harrison, our dark haired, chocolate eyed, book-loving, great-in-the-kitchen, muscular hero, is ex Special Forces and now a partner in a P.I. agency. Wade is good friends with massage therapist Cherry ("Cherry on Top" from Some Like It Rough) and has the hots for her new receptionist, curvaceous redhead Gracie Baron (his "Fiery Angel"). Sassy Gracie, who's working two jobs in order to help support her no-good alcoholic father, has no time for a man in her life. Because of her lousy, lonely upbringing, Gracie has trust issues regarding men, and making her life more difficult is the fact that someone is stalking her by sending her increasingly threatening emails. Even though she is verrry attracted to the sexy Wade for the 2 months he's been asking her out, the fiercely independent Gracie doesn't want to involve him (or anyone else) in her problems. Until the night she is run off the road, and ends up in the hospital. Now Wade won't let Gracie out of his sight--she's going to accept his protection whether she wants it or not! Wade is sure he can find her stalker, and then he plans to have Gracie submit to him...in every way.
Wade...
Okaaay...let me say that Wade was one persistent, protective, possessive, dominant, over-sexed alpha, almost to the point of being annoyingly obsessive. And some of his dialogue had me rolling my eyes (I'm sure that wasn't the author's intention, but some of the things coming out of his mouth had me chuckling...)
"I'm not a gentle man, baby. I want you in fifty different, dirty ways. I want my c*** buried in your tight little c***. I want to suck and toy with the rings in your nipples. I didn't sleep for thinking about all the ways I wanted to f*** you."
"You'll drink my come," he said, his gravelly voice unyielding, "after I bury my c*** in this lovely little c***. The thought of spurting my come all over your tongue, your teeth, down your throat...Christ, what you do to me."
"Your c*** is the juiciest f***ing fruit. I want to eat you for hours, baby."
"Is this my p****, Gracie? I want to own it. I want to hear you say it belongs to me, only me."
I dunno...obsessed with Gracie just a little?
Anyhow, even though Wade was a bit over-the-top, and spent most of his waking hours obsessing about "being with" Gracie rather than trying to find her stalker, they were kinda hot together. And I kept reading.:) The whole story took place over just a couple of days, so of course the relationship between Gracie and Wade moved at a breakneck pace. It would've been nice to see them actually go out on a date or engage in just some everyday activities, but most of their time together had them getting horizontal...
The revelation of the stalker? Eh, nothing out of the ordinary there. A few tense moments for Gracie and Wade, but nothing to bite your nails over. This was an erotic romance, not a romantic suspense, so I wasn't expecting a big mystery.
The book did introduce some characters for potential future books--it looks like Wade's sister Deanna and his partner Jonas have some decent chemistry, and will be featured in the upcoming Pleasure Bound.
Anne Rainey has become a pretty reliable author for me as far as combining a decent story with some erotic elements. True, So Sensitive wasn't my favorite of hers, but if you're looking for a hot read and don't mind an overabundance of sex scenes, then look no further. 3 1/2 to I'm feeling generous 4 stars...
Warning: This book contains explicit sex, including oral (and one anal scene), graphic language, some light bondage and spanking, and one blunt, dirty-talking hero. Not for the faint of heart.
This was enjoyable. Wade has lusted after his friend's secretary for a while, but Gracie always shoots him down. She thinks her life is too complicated between her two jobs so she can support her alcoholic father and her stalker. Her stalker thinks she should quit one of her jobs (the one she knows Wade through) because it's a massage therapy business, and he's certain lurid things occur. (They don't. But stalkers are at least a little bit crazy, right?) She hasn't quit her job, even after he emailed her she should, so he teaches her a lesson by ramming her car several times until she runs off the road and into a tree. And she gets a nice semi-conscious trip to the hospital. Enter Wade, Prince Charming, Knight in Shining Armor, big huge alpha male. He won't leave her alone now. Especially once he hears about her stalker. He's a PI, so he's going to find the guy and pummel him into the ground. (Do you hear the growl?) Once stalker finds out he's around, he's gotta teach her another lesson, which naturally makes Wade keep Gracie even closer. Anyhoo... the sex was good, the suspense was good. Wade's alpha growling started to get on my nerves, lol, but it totally did it for Gracie, so it's all good. I hope the next story is about Jonas and Deanna. There was enough teasing about a potential relationship, there has to be more there.
I just adored “So Sensitive”. Fast paced, sensual and the relationship was actually believable. Top notch erotica!! You can’t help but read this book and think you want a little ex Special Forces with a side of PI.
Gracie Baron’s only love in her life died when her grandmother passed away when Gracie was 10. Her mother walked away when she was very young and the only love her father showed was to the bottle. Now she has an admirer. This was not the kind of love Gracie wanted in her life.
Wade is ex Special Forces turned PI. Wade wanted Gracie from the first time he met her, well at least in his bed. After two months of her turning him down, he is done waiting. There is something about Gracie and he wants to find out what it is.
Gracie has been harassed for months and it’s not getting any better. In fact, it’s gotten a lot worse. Her admirer has taken it to the next level and made it physical. Wade is on the job, even if Gracie doesn’t like it. Gracie has wanted to take Wade up on his offers from the beginning. Hesitant to involve an innocent person, she has rejected him at every turn. Now the man she has been fantasizing about is protecting her. Problem is who is protecting her heart.
Anne Rainey has written a convincing storyline. While having a stalker is scary business, Ms. Rainey never took it over the top. She did an outstanding job keeping the identity of the person hidden for a long time. Though I would have enjoyed more cat and mouse or maybe even a few dead ends, I do understand the story had to wrap up. The final clue was smart, even though it seemed a bit too easy.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Gracie and Wade. I found it believable because they had the two months of interaction. They were not just meeting up and BAM they were lovers. Their relationship was a long time coming. Wade is a dominate lover, but it never seemed too aggressive. Gracie made a believable submissive. Their bedroom relationship seemed more “real life” to me. Very easy going, fun and exciting.
“So Sensitive” is book 1 in the Hard to Get series. While reading the interactions of the characters you were left feeling that supporting characters Cherry and Dante had a wonderful story to tell. I was pleasantly surprised that they do!! I’ll be checking out “Cherry on Top” in the anthology “Some Like it Rough”.
“So Sensitive” is a very enjoyable read. The warning on the back of the book that it is a REALLY HOT book is not exaggerated. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Oh Boy!! Is it a good one!
This novel is a great read for a boring day. The plot concerns the main character, Gracie, having a stalker. She continuously receives flattering emails from her stalker and is eventually almost forced off the road. She is a sweet, strong main character, but she finally admits she may have a problem. Wade, the masculine love interest, has been asking out Gracie for months. When she admits to her stalker problem, Wade sees it as a last attempt to win Gracie over.
Wade moves in with Gracie to keep her safe and to try and deter the stalker. During this time in the novel, the reader watches their relationship begin to grow and become more...complicated. This novel is meant for those 18 and older, there is BDSM. The love scenes are hot and spicy, erotic. The scenes are believable-as is Gracie and Wade's relationship. The reader will be swept into a novel where love stories can happen in the oddest of situations. This novel is fast-paced and not just about romance, there is the mystery of the stalker. This book is great for adults who enjoy their romance tinged with mystery.
this book is great here is Gracie working 2 job as a assistant and then working in the friends massage parlor. Well Gracie has to pay her dad bill because he a drunk and then he tell her she is his. Gracie mom died and then dad said it us only so she learn early on how to take care of her self. Gracie is receiving some weird email and then she keep worrying about them the guy who she does not now said we are going to marry but Wade step in Who is Wade well he is cherry friend and a pi well he keeps talking to gracie and he liking the way she tell him no to a date The he find her crying and ask why she show him the email and then said i m your body guard till the creep is caught but how can they catch him well gracie go to wades and then her house is broken in to and evey thing is destroyed Wade take her t his house and then finds out how wade love her in his ways he teach her to love and trust him and learn to play game and not get hurt i will not give the ending away but the story is great and yo in joy the way it turn out
I liked this one. It was 60% sex and relationship building and 40% the suspense linked to the stalker storyline.
The sex was hot with some light BDSM. Expect anal, bondage, spanking, D/s... The characters had unique backgrounds that added to the story. I think I see a series brewing here..??
The suspense part about the stalker seemed weak. But this wasn't sold as a mystery. It's billed as erotic romance and that's where the author put her ink.
4.5 Stars I loved this story and boy howdy was the sex smokin' hot. I also liked both Gracie and Wade although Wade was a little too possessive for my liking and very intense. It was great seeing past characters Cherry and Dante and I can't wait for Deanna and Jonas' story. The RS aspect was good but when I found out who it was, it left me feeling a little let down. Could have been a little more thus the 4.5 stars.
Good balance between plot and sexy scenes, and the scenario is believeable enough to get into the story. I will definitely try more of this author's work.
A tale of two creeps: A woman gets aggressively pursued by a controlling douchebag she just met and a controlling douchebag she has probably met, at the same time. One does it to her face, the other by email. One's a hottie with a mutual friend and borderline harassing behavior, the other is a stalker. Hot creep uses woman's desire to escape email creep to his advantage in furthering their relationship, and he does a shitty job of protecting her and solving the mystery because he's too busy seducing her. Nobody in this book is self-aware enough to recognize the uncomfortable similarities, but the readers sure did. Here was a missed opportunity to up the tension by allowing us to wonder if the stalker was either Hottie or his friend and partner, or to have some character development via introspection and examination of their own behaviors. On top of that, the sex scenes feel like a computer (neural network) was fed a pile of romance novel sex scenes, and then it had to spit back out a dozen more. This was so disappointing, the more so because it had potential to go right.
Maybe i am a cliché but this book was so fast pace read and i liked the writing style. Fast, easy, enjoyable, it was a good book that does not required any hard thinking. Loved the love between Wade and Gracie. They were adorable
From the first moment Wade met Gracie, he wanted her. But she kept shooting him down because she had too much going on in her life, including an alcoholic father and a stalker. When the stalker escalates, Wade offers to help, and the begin relationship. But Gracie is scared because is used to relying on herself, and not others.
The story was mostly sex, with a side of suspense, but that's the way I like it. Wade wasn't looking for a permanent relationship, and didn't really see himself in one. But all that changes with Gracie. At first he is leery, bug he accepts it pretty quickly. And Gracie is scared, but not to the point it was annoying. The book kept teasing me though. The dirty talk on what Wade wanted to do to Gracie, and his thoughts were more descriptive and dirty than the actual sex. But I will say the anal and spanking scenes were beyond hott. Unfortunately, Wade kept talking about the chain, but it was never introduced into a scene.
After struggling with this book for over a week, I'm finally giving up. When it starts out with the heroine saying she nearly orgasmed from the hero shaking her hand the first time they met, I was already rolling my eyes.
The stalker, car accident and hospital scenes were unrealistic enough to make me unbelievably mad (bias disclosure: I've been in an extremely serious car accident and while I know not every experience is the same the heroine's was just ridiculous).
Then, after telling me for pages that the heroine can't move without excruciating pain (bruises and a fractured wrist - or maybe broken because I think she had a cast) so much that she had to be carried into the house after being released from the hospital....then suddenly she's feeling spry enough to consider seducing said friend.
There's just not enough working logically for me to continue, but because I only made it to 18% I'm not leaving a rating.
This was a pretty good read (if you're looking for LOTS of sex, it was a GREAT read). It was a very sexual storyline that kind of outshined the mystery/suspenseful aspect of it, but it was still entertaining enough to keep me reading--although like many comtemporary erotic romances, the ending was a bit rushed. The hero was majorly alpha and loved the dirty talk (both plusses in my book), but sometimes I had to laugh at how cheesy it sounded as it borderlined on baby talk (I HATE it when the big and bad alpha hero consisently refers to the female anatomy as a "pretty, little p_____" (Lora Leigh also does this and it drives me crazy!) Just call it hot, sexy or something like that and be done with it! Really looking forward to the next one, and really hoping that the dirty talk will be a bit less cheesy!
This book is spicyyyy, it’s sexy and I guess you could say it’s giving true crime. But in my opinion the book would’ve been way better if they deepened the crime plot instead of focusing on the lowkey problematic Love story that was developing. I don’t wanna say too much but sis might’ve just needed some therapy instead of secc. Small spoiler alert: the basis of the book is a woman who has a stalker that threatens her life, she falls in love with a detective who is determined to find the stalker for her. If you’re bored and need something to read I feel like this will be a good read but there are a lot of better things out there you could be reading lol. If anything this is a book for people who like to read the explicit scenes. I wanted more drama from the stalker and to get his perspective (that sounds sick but it would’ve made it more interesting).
An sorta interesting story about a somewhat independent woman and a dominant man and the stalker who brings them together.
Gracie wasn't the super simpering heroine of most of these books, but she did have some irritating qualities. Wade was a typical dominant man. The sex scenes were pretty good.
What irritated me most, tho, and what lowered the score for me, was when the stalker referred to Gracie by her middle name, she said she never uses her middle name. But when they find out how he knew her middle name, it was because of a totally stupid thing that was basically "Oh, gee, I just automatically used my middle name." Really? Stupid editing/plot point/whatever.
Gracie works two jobs to support herself and her drunk father. Wade is a PI who has wanted Gracie ever since he laid eyes on her. It takes a car accident for the truth to come out - Gracie has a stalker. Wade takes it upon himself to be her protector. As they race to figure out who the stalker is - feelings start to change. But Gracie is scared while Wade know's what he wants - Gracie. Wade's PI partner Jonas helps them in the search of the identity of the stalker. The next book is Jonas - can't wait to read his story and Deanna's (Wade's sister). A nice, easy and fast read.
This was an entertaining book for sure. I really enjoyed this book series even though I read the series out of order. I do however recommend reading it in order because each book talks about pervious characters and their relationships.
Wade and Gracie are a great couple and their are a lot of steamy scenes through out this book. Although it wasn't my favorite book out of the series, I am glad I read it because it brought some pieces together from the rest of the series.
This was actually my first ebook purchase back in 2009 and I didn't, at the time, understand the importance of reviews.
Anne Rainey writes steamy men and strong women. Gracie could have easily rolled over and let Wade make everything better for her. She held her ground, was smart and took the help that was offered. I absolutely didn't see the bad guy until it was revealed.
High marks for steamy moments and character building.
Io odio i dominatori. E Wade, a un certo punto, se n'è uscito con la parola SCHIAVA mentre se la sbatteva. Ma stiamo scherzando? No, no e anche no.
This was a good read, dragged a little in the middle, but other than that I would recommend it. This is my first from Anne Rainey, and I will definitely read more from her. This was the first in a series and have already downloaded the next to get started.
