I was never supposed to want her. But what if she’s all I've ever needed?

They told me marriage was about duty—a necessary move to secure my place in the Family. But when my wife passed, she left behind more than just her money—she left her daughter, the only person I could never have.

For years, I watched her from a distance, fighting back the desire that simmered beneath the surface. But now she’s at Blackmore University, far from the Family’s watchful gaze… and far too close to me.

I know this is forbidden. I know it’s wrong. But that doesn’t stop me from wanting her.

She calls me professor. I call her mine. Because this isn’t just a twisted game of lust and power, for me, it’s endgame.

Each book in the Blackmore University series can be read as a standalone novel. The Blackmore University trilogy is complete.

Note: Dark Obsession is Niccolo and Christine's story.

Cora Kent

Cora Kent fell for her first villain before she even knew what romance was. Ever since Scar was denied a happily ever after, she’s been on a mission to give all the dark, dangerous anti-heroes the endings they deserve. If the Big Bad Wolf had swept Little Red off her feet, it might have saved the fairy tale—so that's exactly what Cora does in her novels: grants her bad boys redemption through passion, power, and the women who can handle them.

When she’s not spinning tales of morally gray heroes and forbidden desires, you’ll find her snuggled up with her cat, sipping a margarita, and watching Grey’s Anatomy.

A student at Blackmore University, Christine Lucatello, is face-to-face with Professor Niccolo Terlizzi on the regular. The problem? He’s her stepfather. And their chemistry won’t be denied.

Dark Obsession had a mashup of some of my favorite tropes and some unique elements within an oft written storyline.

However, I was disappointed in Niccolo as our MMC. His actions didn’t align with his words, making him unbelievable as a man obsessed, who would “do anything” for his woman. Christine, on the other hand, was a good FMC; feisty, strong, full of conviction.

This is between 3 and 4 stars read for me. But I'm going to rate it 4⭐️ because I liked it more than the first book (unexpectedly, actually, after I read the prequel). I liked the writing, I liked both main characters, the FMC more than the MMC (again, I didn't expect this 😂).

DON'T skip the prequel!! (it's very short, free on Amazon and adds some background to their story)

Tropes
- step-father / step-daughter
- age gap (18/30)
- professor / student
- mafia disputes between families (they both come from mafia established families)
- light br33ding

In the end, the book wasn't as dark as I expected 😬😪. There are still some TW, so please read them before diving into this book.

.
.
.
**possible spoilers below**
.
.
.

I wanted more
- spicy scenes
- an extended epilogue 🥲 (maybe we can see them in the next book)
- him reacting in some way when she was manhandled in front of him by her uncle; he did nothing .. I understand on one hand that they had the upper hand because he was alone, not armed, and until that moment, "not an actively part of his mafia family", so he had "violent" thoughts but he was not a violent man (alpha in disguise 😅). On the other hand, that would have been a great moment for him to transform into Hulk, haha (Don't take that literally. This is not paranormal, it's just a metaphor 😂)

I did like
- how much he loved her
- that he eventually took revenge on what happened to her
- that she did the pushback because she knew their situation is weird and not normal, despite her being in lust with him and actually in love
- she was not a V (it matched her personality, haha)
- while the 🌶 scenes were not too many, they were good written scenes
- the entire mafia plot was confusing at times, but I ended up liking it (want a book for his oldest brother, asap 😂👀!!!)
- the new friend she met in this book; I hope she will also get a book, she's interesting 👀

I did not like
- the entire situation with him being her stepfather 😂 I know, that's the entire taboo aspect, but the fact that she is barely 18 and that he was with her mother in all aspects *cough cough* does not sit right with me; but whatever, I ended up rooting for them in the end 🥺🩶
- her first interaction with Jackson
- the scene with her, her uncle, and that enforcer 😭
- the fact that he talked a lot in his head about protecting her, etc, etc, but actually scheming up a lot with his brothers and not doing anything palpable until sh1t hit the fan; I understand the mafia situation between families is difficult, but I wanted more, earlier in the story
- the amount they said they will pay for her getting out of the arrangement ... 25000$? 🤔 That's pennies for a mafia family, I didn't get that part 😂.

Will I continue the series? Definitely! I'm so curious about the next story. I hope the plot, romance, and spice will be more balanced.

3/5 "Once I do this, Christine, I own you. If you even look at another man, I’ll kill him and punish you."

TROPES:
~dark mafia x college
~student x teacher
~stepdad x stepdaughter
~taboo

PLOT: Christine's mom got married when she was 13 to a much younger Niccolo. He took care of her mom until she passed. This isn't a grooming situation, he doesn't do anything to Christine until after her mom is gone and she's of age. He's had a thing for a little while and the perfect place for them to get together is far away at Blackmore University, where he's a professor and she's a student. Christine is resistant at first but soon falls for him. Lots of twists and turns happen in this story, it's a wild ride.

THOUGHTS: I didn't like this as much as I thought I would. Christine is a brat and hard to tame and that's the kind of heroine I don't like. Niccolo is boyfriend material though, but he does do a few questionable things that make you wonder "why the hell did he do that". I loved the mafia twist. I did like the premise though and the writing is incredible so I give it three stars.

SAFETY:
Virgin/celibate?: no virgins
Cheating/sharing?: no
Triggers: stepdad/stepdaughter relationship
Kinks: dubious breeding consent, daddy, spanking
HEA? yes

Marry once for duty; marry twice for obsession.

They call our love forbidden.
I call it endgame.

This book was packed with details, action and drama
Christine was a complex character, given, she did have past trauma, however she wasn't a character I fell in love with easily.
Niccolo seemed to talk the talk but not walk the walk for me.

Tropes:
- Taboo
- Step-father / Step-daughter
- Age Gap
- Professor / Student
- Mafia Family
- Family saga

I’m not really a fan of the taboo tropes but when I said this book had me hot and bothered, I literally had to snap my leg shut. The spice level in this book was top tier.

Niccolo and Christine complicated but very hot relationship literally was the highlight of the book. Add in a little mafia and dark romance and I believe this is the perfect way to describe this book.

I can say that this was probably my favorite read so far from Cora and all parts of the book seemed to be written well and with a proper ending.

This book was absolutely amazing, and the storyline was so perfectly created!
I was definitely looking forward to the insight in Christine and Niccolo’s relationship from book one (Cruel Intentions), and I was NOT disappointed!
It is a taboo - stepfather/stepdaughter romance, which also features age gap, and teacher/student romance as well!
It had me literally on the edge of my seat waiting to figure out what was going to happen next!
HEA story, and SO good!.

Once I do this, Christine, I own you. If you even look at another man, I’ll kill him and punish you.

I went into this book super anticipated but I suspect my anticipations were set too high as I wasn't the biggest fan of it, I enjoyed the first book a lot more. It is marketed as a student/teacher romance but I felt it was more of a mafia trope as opposed to the student/teacher which barely played a part. I have to give it to the author for creating the most unlikable MMC at the beginning, I was really hating on him for a good part of the book. The FMC wasn't very strong, she kind of let Nic walk all over her and treat her in a way that didn't sit right with me. In terms of plot, I liked the storyline how it involved the mafia aspects and how the side characters got a chance to shine. I do love the authors writing so I will read the next book and hopefully will love it more than this one!

What To Expect:
⨳ MF Dark Romance
⨳ Stepfather/Stepdaughter
⨳ Mafia
⨳ Age Gap
⨳ Possessive MMC
⨳ Daddy Kink

You protected the woman you love; nothing is more honorable than that.

✨Arc Review✨

I have been dying to sink my teeth into this book since we got glimpses of Christine & Niccolo’s relationship in Cruel Intentions.

This book is not only age gap, step father romance, but Cora has also added the Professor/Student dynamic 😮‍💨.

I thought Xavier was OTT obsessed with Kaye but Niccolo is a whole different ball game when it comes to obsession and I absolutely loved it👀 Nothing can stop a man obsessed.

This book is fast paced and steamy, and quite a page turner with a few twists and turns along the way.👀 I look forward to reading more in this series in the near future.

Tropes:
- Taboo/Step-father
- Age Gap
- Obsessive MMC
- Professor/Student

I am grateful to have been provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts.✨

I loved learning more about Christine and Niccolo. Since they were introduced in Book 1 I wondered a lot about their dynamic and how it all came about. It felt like both of these 2 MC's wanted to protect each other and ended up kinda doing the opposite but who doesn't love a little chaos?

Slower start to the book than the first one. But in the end I liked the FMC and MMC here more than I did in Cruel Intentions!
Loved the Mafia story line I wish it was brought in sooner! Nicco was amazing!!!

I would say the darkest of the Blackmore University series.

Again spice level I would say is a 🌶️🌶️

Thank you to Cora Kent for the opportunity to receive an ARC copy to review!!

This is a dark romance book with a spicy, age-gap, taboo relationship. I love the MMC. He is sexy, protective, and has a filthy mouth 🥵 I love how Niccolo will do anything to protect Christine. I also enjoyed the scenes with Nic’s siblings and Christine’s friends. The side characters help make the book because they show other sides to the main characters. I enjoyed this book so much, and I highly recommend it!.

Not what it seems

I was expecting a student, teacher romance, but instead it is a Mafia romance with more violence than steam.
Christine is a student and her late mother's second husband is her professor. Her stepfather has lusted after her since she was sixteen, now she is eighteen, he is ardent in his attention. Sadly, as she begins to fall for him, her mother's brother sets her up to marry someone else.
It's not a bad story, as long as continuity faults don't bother you, but it wasn't quite what I expected.

If you are looking for a fast paced, taboo book, this one is for you!!

The push and pull in this book was amazing, and the tension was just as good!! There wasn't as much spice as I'm use to but honestly I loved the story too much that I didn't even notice 🖤

The banter between all the characters was also a highlight for me, whether it was Niccolo and his brothers, Christine and her best friends or Niccolo and Christine themselves. There were so many moments that had me laughing at the comebacks these characters had!

Thank you Cora for the opportunity to read this early 🖤❤️

If you are not a fan of TABOO books this isn’t a book for you!

Mother pass away, leaves the stepfather taking care of his stepdaughter….

But they end up falling in love…. She threatens so awfully tings…. But I seriously couldn’t put this book down..

Most relationships could learned something from Niccolo and Christine, if you fan Italian Mafia this book is for you..

I loved the first book Cruel Intentions, it was dark, predatory and spicy, and had a ton of drama and a great storyline. I was excited to read this book to follow Christine and Nic's story that was hinted in the first book, and see their equally dark romance and relationship develop.
IMO sadly it didn't hit the mark for me for a few reasons.
*Christine was really sassy in the first book but she came across as flat, immature or bratty for most of it, and she didn't really show any attraction or desire towards Nic.
*I expected Nic was going to be super possessive and dominant, but the spice was barely there and he made more threats than actions.
*The taboo relationship of the student/teacher and stepdad/step daughter - there's a lot to work with here but honestly there was little to no actual romance between them yet alone spice and they were barely together with the time skips and ignoring each other.
*Christine is slapped by her uncle and Nic doesn't react at all, then later she's hospitalised and it felt like no-one really cared and there was no payback to the person that did it.
*A key family member dies, and another is nearly killed but there's no follow up or payback.

I really wanted to like this especially after Kaye and Xavier's story, but I think there were too many themes trying to be included in this and it became more focussed on the mafia war rather than any passion and romance so it lost its way.

Check trigger warnings for any book

Not the dark romance I wanted to read about…

The grooming situationship…. Not the vibes. She could have been two or three years older, no need for her to be « freshly eighteen » and then get jumped on by her stepfather.

The characters were super super flat. I haven’t learned anything about Niccolo or Christine. She’s young and into her stepfather. He’s we don’t know how old and has been wanting to fuck her.

The professor and student situation was barely there? Just a trope to add but had no real impact on the story.

And suddenly we’ve got mafia wars? But no information regarding the mafia background. They just have mafia families, we don’t know what they deal with, or what they do. And it’s just super light mafia, they just punch a guy one time, and « oh yeah we’re the mafia ». Not to mention that Nic isn’t even involved so…

This felt like the author had a checklist of tropes to tick and tried to go through it the fastest way possible. This book could have gained so much depth if we had 100 more pages to dive more into the characters, and into the background story.

I didn’t mind the writing style, so I’ll give the author’s other books a shot, this might just be a one off and the rest might just be amazing!

Favorite quotes (MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS):

« Psychology 101 is taught by the one and only Niccolo Terlizzi. »

« My mama always told me that if I don’t know something, I should ask. I don’t know if you’ve got a personality disorder or something, so I’m asking. »

« My stepdaughter shows up to class looking like she wants me to bend over the hood of my car and make her scream my name. »

« You’re with me now, dolcezza, and I’m not some two-pump chump that’s going to leave you wanting more. I’m the man that’s going to fuck you until your legs are shaking with pleasure. »

« You called me dad when I was married to your mother. By the end of the year, you’ll be calling me Daddy. »

« Keep saying my name like that, sweetheart, and I’ll fuck you until you’re screaming it. »

« And I’ll never make it in prison. I’m too gentle. »

« Crazy men like Niccolo exist everywhere. You’re gonna have to become a lesbian, if you want to avoid them all together. »

« New plan. You and I become lesbian lovers, and then Xavier and Nic will have to leave us alone. »

« You look like a runaway groom. » « And you look like an ape that’s escaped the zoo. What of it? »

« I’ll fill your pussy with so much cum you’ll be a walking, talking Twinkie. »

« One of these days, you’re going to get shot for being an asshole. » « As long as I don’t get shot in the asshole. »

« Once I do this, Christine, I own you. If you even look at another man, I’ll kill him and punish you. »

« You protected the woman you love; nothing is more honorable than that. »

Christine Lucatello is excited to begin her journey at Blackmore University with her best friend. Looking forward to pursuing her degree in psychology and enjoying the company of the male population. But she can’t seem to avoid Professor Niccolo Terlizzi. The chemistry between these two is palpable and it is becoming hard to resist each other. The biggest issue? Niccolo is her stepfather. Niccolo Terlizzi married once for duty to his family. The marriage didn’t last long but the one thing he got out of it? HIs stepdaughter, Christine. She’s been under his care, but now they’re both away from his family’s watchful eyes and her uncles? Niccolo can finally act on his obsession of his stepdaughter.

I was so intrigued by Niccolo and Christine in Cruel Intentions and knew I would absolutely love them and their story! And Daddy Niccolo did not disappoint! He was possessive, protective, and had a deliciously dirty mouth.

“It’s not a threat, dolcezza, it’s a promise. I don’t care about your past because I’m your future. I’m the only man you’ll fuck from now on; I promise you that.”

He was so protective of Christine and would do anything in his power to help and keep her safe. I really enjoyed reading about his relationship with his siblings and I’m definitely hoping for stories on his brothers! Christine was such a strong and feisty FMC. I knew there was more to her when reading the first book from Cora, and I’m so glad we were able to get a story dedicated to her and Niccolo. Christine definitely went through a lot in a short period of time, but she always came out stronger and never gave up. There is no denying the chemistry between her and Niccolo. These two were hot and I needed more!

Cora does an amazing job of setting up future books and I can't wait to see what else she has in store and to read all about the other characters!

Thank you for the arc opportunity!

I’m thoroughly obsessed with these stories. I breezed through this story and the last within the same day. From their first moments I’ve been entranced. I can’t get enough. I had to stop everything and find out what happened.

I’m so happy to hear that the stories aren’t over. I needed more stories. I need to know each and every aspect of these characters. Nico’s family is the side that is chose any day.

Him turning to the dark side to protect Christine? HOT. I screamed with joy when I read the wedding. I’m only sad I didn’t get to see him take his wife for the first time after. Oh well. I was pleased with the given spiciness.

I was given an advanced copy to review. And I’m so freaking happy I did. This novel was amazing. I can’t wait to read more.

If he had actually acted all the times he said I’m done I’m finally going to do it the book could have been 4 or 5 star but instead multiple times he kept saying that it I’m done and then not doing anything. I loved how she stood up for herself and fought back like threatening HR video. He was all talk and very little action. She gets slapped by her uncle right in front of him and he does nothing and then lets her leave after he told her he would never let her leave and wanted her pregnant. He just didn’t follow through on his obsessive possessive thoughts and it was very disappointing.

I liked how sassy and bratty she was and how she resisted him and was such a great friend to Kaye.

Best thing about this book? The banter between the Terlizzi brothers!! I laughed so much with each of their interactions. Their love-hate relationship is truly how siblings act!

Niccolo and Christine are definitely a taboo relationship, professor/student AND stepfather/stepdaughter. Even after years of suppressing those feelings, they finally give in to each other. The way he says “daddy” 🥵 With finally opening up to one another, this comes with consequences from Christine’s Italian family. Nic will protect Chris at any cost and asks for his brother’s help.

Such a good read ☺️

I feel like this book was an improvement from the first, however, I still hated both the main characters. I feel like the way that Christine was written as a complete good girl that wanted no one to ever face consequences and just magically get out of the situation was irritating. It felt like Niccolo was the only one willing to make sacrifices in their relationship and Christine never seemed to fall in love with him as she stated she did. He seemed like he was used to get out of a situation and there was no true relationship between the two. The brothers and Ada seemed super interesting and it got to a point where I was reading in hopes of gaining more information on their story. Especially Dante and Ada since they seemed so badass. Overall, this book wasn’t for me, as the personalities of the characters in addition to their thoughts made me feel “off”, but if the characters were less “damsel-in-distress”/“hero-complex” I most likely would have loved it.

love just as much as the first

Talk about a family love triangle. Uncles kill her father and think she never knew. I’m serious about how detailed it is that sometimes I was like ok wasn’t expecting that. Well first off it’s amazing. Tons of detail. We’ll probably suggest to not read or listen in public lol. But I’d recommend. Keep up the good work. My husband walked in and was like wtf are you listening to. lol all I could do was smile. And say. Just Listen.
Step brother/ step sister/ step father. Funny how she likes the stuff they do but then also isn’t. Arranged marriage. Some of the stuff sounds like mafia situation which I take is.

Wow, I devoured this book in 24 hours. It was absolutely amazing. This was my first Cora Kent book, but it definitely won't be my last one. Honestly, i liked this book better than the first one it was so good i couldnt put it down! I love that it gives forced proximity/mafia vibes and still follows a plot and story line while adding in some spice! I also really liked that it tied in a lot from the first book so it felt like it was tying up loose ends and making the story connect more and click better seeing it from the perspective of christine, kaye’s best friend. Overall i really enjoyed this story!
