A delightful narrative that sprinkles joy like confetti, peppered with characters so charming they could make a grumpy cat crack a smile. Sure, the plot meanders like a leisurely Sunday stroll, occasionally getting lost in its own verbose wanderings. But fear not! This literary amble is a perfect palette cleanser, guaranteed to inject a dose of whimsy into your day and leave you grinning from ear to ear.
Audrey thought Gilbert to be devious and someone who ruined other people. Although she had married him to off set her father's debts she realised that Gilbert was not what she had envisioned but a man to be proud of. Slowly they were able to solve the mystery and find their happily ever after.
A delightful story with solid characters, a good many scenes, and interesting dialogue. The story is a quick read, and I recommend spending the extra minutes of the reader's day to read.
Nice read . Different than your usual regency era books.there was one misspelled word it was spelled vice when it should have been vise. Did not affect the meaning. I don't like to give away a story so let's just say I was interested in the story and characters enough to read it in one sitting.
I found myself laughing at some of the dialogue, which doesn’t happen very often in Jane Austen-era books. It was a good story and engaging, albeit more of a novella length. But worth the read!
Gilbert and Audrey were fun characters and neither of them planned to fall in love. It was so much fun reading their story and seeing them grow closer together even though they had no intention of doing so. I really enjoyed Padfoot.
The Duke decides to forgo a debt owed to him with marriage to the daughter. The daughter with an incredible mind. Certain things begin to happen & the Duke must save his wife above all else. And then his heart begins to glow..,
I enjoyed this story more than I usually enjoy novellas. I finished it very quickly, but the ending could have been longer and fuller. Overall a great read, though.
