Four years into their mating, Alpha Henry and Luna Regina still have no heir. The pack Elders keep pressuring the Alpha to take an unmated pack female to breed, and he eventually gives in, breaking his Luna's heart in the process. The OW, of course, has her own agenda in all of this.
Wow this was angsty and heartbreaking for a decent chunk of the book. But in the end we get a great HEA and a way better NEW mate. One who loves her and is amazing
-Cheating mate / gah this guy was a real fucking POS!
-H husband thinks his Luna the h is barren it’s been 4 years and she hasn’t gotten pregnant. So he takes a mistress only to have a baby w. It’s suppose to only be during OW induced heat. But he cheats throughout the pregnancy having sex like crazy w OW. Obvi the marriage falls apart.
-h feels physically sick and pain every time he cheats so they put her on drugs and she becomes addicted. It also causes her internal damage every time he cheats.
-OW wants to get rid of h and accuses her of throwing her down stairs and Husband legit throws his mate is a dungeon where she is neglected in filth and starved but also tortured for 3 Fucking MONTHS… all the while he is sexing the fuck out of OW. Husband also is a fucking horrible person he’s so mad at h for trying to hurt his heir that he KILLS her pseudo mom RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER.
-h is legit just wanting to die
-Husband has to take wolvesbain to cheat so his wolf was suppressed for like a year and the husband was going crazy cause of it.
-OW gives birth but the baby isn’t his!!! She was cheating and using the douche bag husband. He kills her and her lover then decides his mate the h will still love him. Cause the douche bag is the one shooting blanks. He is determined to win his mate back through force.
-Husband pulls her out of the dungeon practically dead and then forces wolvesbain on her so she can’t fight back and then tries to make things go back to normal. But he is definitely OUT AND OF HIS FUCKING MIND! We did get a small amount of regret here. He knows he messed up bad but also he is insane now so it’s not very satisfying.
-h kills her mate and is so traumatized
-ENTER AND NEW H AND MATE who cares for her and helps her and loves her and is the BEST! At about 60- 65%
-h goes on trial for her ex mates murder
-h gets therapy and healing… could have done without 2 chapters of therapy. Not my jam I wish authors would yada yada through it.
-H and h live HEA and are so in love. They have two kids cause of course she wasn’t barren! The angst levels off about 65% and then it’s all sweetness and healing
-Cheating mate (not on page) but the h pain is on page and he isn’t her HEA -Murder -OWD -h had only ever been w her ex mate ♥️H is a VIRGIN!!! He saved himself for his mate ♥️♥️♥️♥️

DNF after chapter 10 (skimmed the rest) - No rating
FB group recommendation
I liked the writing which was a nice surprise because I'm not normally impressed with what I find on Wattpad. The first 10 chapters had me hooked. Loads of angst and entertaining drama. Unfortunately the story took a turn I couldn't get into. For one, when it comes to the cheating theme (the only reason I read this one), I prefer a HEA with the original couple. Basically, I prefer the second chance trope with lots of groveling and a convincing redemption. In The Barren Luna, she ends up with a new guy. Secondly, after chapter 10, the story got very boring and it just dragged. I tried.
I usually don't like shifter stories as it seems like too many authors give their "heroes/zeros" an excuse for bad behavior. Yes, there is bad behavior, but it's assigned to the right characters.
Supposedly the heroine is barren because it couldn't be her alpha husband. Long story sort, he gets a concubine to beget a baby but still violates shifter sanctions according to this auhhor. So...long suffering heroine, evil OW, stupid and self-centered mate, evil MIL, judgmental community.
Except the heroine is smart and doesn't want to comply. The H and his misogynistic advisors tell her she can be drugged to induce lactation so she can nurse the husband's new baby.
Very bad stuff happens, but the heroine emerges strong and a survivor. Well done and well plotted!

I like this new author because she takes on my favorite genre… rejected mates! (This technically isn’t a rejected mate, but her mate is a total asshole, so close enough) I typically prefer the mated couple to stay together because then we get a complete story arc of betrayal, grovel, forgiveness (and we know the H a lot better than a dude thrown in at the end), but I can get onboard with new opportunities too. The Wildflower Series (Clayton/Dallas) is one of my all-time favorite rejected mate stories.
I gobbled up the first part of the story that is teased in the blurb with the OW breeder. That is where all the yummy goodness was, but IMHO it was brushed over a smidge too quickly. There were a few opportunities to add emotion to the story, like having Ginny confront Henry with what was going on. We didn’t get one conversation between the mates, not one, even after she walked into the office.
At 40% and the plot switched gears with a location change, but it was still moving because something was going on, but then that was finalized, and the momentum just stopped at 60%. This was supposed to be filled with the building/development of something, but I never felt it. It never clicked and felt like filler.
Bottom Line- The first 60% was great, but the last 40% was a struggle and I ended up skimming to the end. I’m still confused about the entire mate concept in this world.
The potential was there but the delivery wasn't't.
Story is about a Barren Luna who can't get pregnant (still can't work out whether she was the problem or it was him). Because of the lack of a pregnancy her 'mate' decides to employ a breeder to provide him with a long waited heir.
As the breeding starts, it has a major impact on his Luna who feels every excruciating pain whilst he has sex with the breeder.
What follows is his cheating (he has sex with her outside her breeding time). She gets pregnant and She frames the Luna by saying his Luna pushed her down the stairs and her 'mate" throws her in jail to protect his pups.
She's abused whilst in prison by the breeder and he still goes around with his head in the clouds.
What goes on from there is a continuation of abuse until he get his head out of his arse and finds out that the pup the breeder is carrying is not his.
I skimmed the rest - but she kills her 'mate', stands trial, get off because of the abuse and finds her HEA with another alpha.

The writing was good but the story made me feel like taking a shower.
Ginny is mated to the alpha of the fourth largest pack in the area but even though they tried for four years, she’s still not pregnant so the elders and her husband agree to getting a concubine for him to impregnate.
Henry the husband was disgusting with his infidelity (having sex even when THE OW wasn’t in heat) and the world was such that the alpha could command his subjects to obey so Ginny was stuck in a bad situation, being unable to leave. She suffered. The bad guys did get punished eventually but didn’t suffer enough IMO.
About 60 % in I felt like all the action was done and I didn’t care anymore. I skimmed the rest. The world building was a bit lacking. The ending was abrupt. The story got a bit insane halfway.
I made it to the end but only cause I wanted to know if she eventually got pregnant.
So…there are probably better shifter and infidelity books out there. This book just wasn’t for me.
Someone in the comments was like they wanted Ginny and her mate to get back together & after reading this book I’m sorta like huh? How do you get back w someone like that? Ma’am/Sir 👀
Anyhoo, I read this bc I’m not a fan of second chances and obvi this wasn’t oneeeee sooo I assumed there’d be some sort of get back. Although this had everything I love in non-second chances, I still feel as though it fell short
1. The fmc was one block from being a Mary sue. It’s clear she’d been through shit, but at every turn there was always someone saying how perfect and wonderful she was. While that might be true it was exhausting. & frankly unrealistic. She’s like one of those ppl authors write that are nice but secretly mean or wtv. She just didn’t feel real to me. I didn’t feel like she had layers to her.
2. The extra povs. I usually love them but I felt they were unnecessary. It was subliminally showing the perfectness of Regina and by the time Vera’s pov came along I was pretty much over it
3. The romance or wtv between Regina and David was meh.
3.5 stars, rounded. I didn’t expect the amount of gore and violence on page so DAMN, this surprised me in that regard. Seeing that this was apparently published on Wattpad before (as other reviewers have stated), the writing quality was actually pretty good. It was descriptive enough without feeling too “try hard,” which I commend the author for. I rarely read shifter romances, but this was pretty entertaining and heartbreaking. It’s a story of self-discovery and second chances, and you can clearly see it as you progress. I do honestly wish this book was even longer though to further explore the heroine’s second chance love MORE, but maybe I’m just gluttonous.
I liked the first half, but definitely skimmed the whole last half. It didn’t really match up, it felt like reading two completely different books. The second chance mate thing was also not really explained.
I liked the first half of the book because it was so visceral. It was extremely dark to me and made me so upset for the FMC that I can’t totally hate this book. A book that makes you feel for someone must have some redeeming qualities and this author concocted a hopeless situation that pissed me off and made me feel. The second half was completely trite to me, silly and uninteresting. I liked some of the details about the FMC, like her interest in cooking, but everything is wrapped up very quickly, very easily. As soon as she met the MMC the next line could have been ‘and they lived happily ever after’ and saved me some time because nothing else of note happened. The world building was arbitrary and lacked dimension.
This was an interesting story. I enjoyed reading it and following Regina’s growth. She has a devastatingly hard existence to begin with but gains her HEA. I must confess I found it a bit awkward sharing a name with the main bad chick!
This book would benefit immensely from professional editing. It would help to streamline the plot and correct a number of grammatical errors.
I LOVED this book! This my first by this author but it definitely will not be my last! The writing was superb, the world building out of this world. I felt every heartbreak Ginny went through and I absolutely hated Henry. He got what he deserved. I don't want to give anything away except to say the betrayal was gut-wrenching! Do not miss this book!
The character development, the plot lines, the suspense. It wrecks every single emotion the reader has.
The Heroine is relatable and absolutely wonderful. Her inner monologues is a definite engaging read.
The Hero? LADIES!!!! Prepare to have another Book Husband added to your shelf.
Love. Hate. Grief. Self-discovery of one's own worth, and healing(Mentally, Emotionally, and Physically). Vengeance of the fist-pumping 'GURL YES!!!!' variety. Found Family.
This read checks ALL the boxes. INCLUDING of the 'strong female lead who knows when she needs to ask for help' variety.
This was a little difficult to read mostly because Regina's situation with Henry made me so frustrated with how their world worked and how everyone around Regina just seemed to stand by and watch Henry abuse her and mistreat her that way. The second half of the book after Regina was finally free was slow, but I'm glad she at least got her HEA with someone else.
This werewolf romance was something new from what I'm used to reading. 'Twas kind of engaging and entertaining at first. Well written. For me, It contradicted though some of the "wolf mating culture" that this book itself briefly explained and mostly from the many other books, I've read so far of this subgenre. Losing a mate for example and hurting a mate emotionally and physically. The emotional side was handled well I guess. The physical side where the heroine committed the most atrocious act, a mate could do to her mate? How come while she was committing it, she wasn't feeling any pain physically? They were still mates, despite her claiming that emotionally, the bond was broken. There was a part that was briefly mentioned, that a mate takes precedence above everything.. that if the other gets hurt physically or dies, the other could feel it or wouldn't recover. Maybe because her wolf was dormant due to to the opiates and wolf's bane inside her system? Still.. oh well anything goes. This is an author's version and creation.. and a good one that is if I may say, even if I wasn't so agreeable to some.
I usually avoid cheating romances. I got curious by the blurb and the angst in this one, considering it was a wolf paranormal romance. This was my first paranormal wolf cheating romance. I'm not even into "rejected mates" trope, much more second chance mates.. because despite them being just fiction and anything goes, for me these tropes contradict the very essence of the wolf mating culture in this subgenre. I'm used to the original mated versions where the mates are so into and devoted to each other for life, once they feel the mating pull. If one mate dies, the other dies or couldn't recover. One mate for life. This book even briefly mentioned it. Yet it was contradictory in some.
In this one, I wasn't sure if I was okay with what happened to heroine's first mate. Most wouldn't agree with me, thinking he deserved it. Maybe if he had continued being cold and bad, got truly unhinged and evil, just forced her cruelly to be back with him no matter what and hadn't even felt any kind of remorse, maybe then I'd be a bit okay with what she had committed. Despite them being fated mates. I know he committed such unforgivable deeds, that not even to my reader's eyes were worth redeeming. Yet I don't know. It just somehow felt off to me, that the author made him truly remorseful, explained himself why he was driven to commit such grave mistakes, talked to her each night over dinner about making it work with her again, waited patiently for them to be intimate again because of her injuries, started being a good mate to her, courted her... then that act. He had even forsaken his mother. I couldn't make myself feel good about it. I understood him in a way, not necessarily forgiven him. Even that heinous act, with regard to heroine's beloved nurse maid. Logically speaking, even that, was a bit understandable. Despite it utterly irredeemable and cruel. He was slowly losing himself, because of the wolf's bane drug, becoming gradually unhinged. Full of hatred, believing something unforgivable, the heroine had done. He had made his choices, no matter selfish and bad, because of his obsession to prove to his pact and to himself, to his male alpha ego that he was capable of progeny, and to his position as the leader of his pact. Yet cheating no matter the reasons, even in real life, is always a choice.
Regardless, like I said, I still didn't feel good about reading alpha mate's fate in the hands of his "mate". No matter, if he wasn't worth for redemption, and his redeeming efforts being a little too late. Well I'll just hand it to them being half wolves.. half animals after all. Used to these kinds of acts, as heroine thought so herself.. wolves being fierce creatures. Given an option though, I'd rather the alpha mate should have had been dealt by the Royal Court instead, considering heroine's friends had already filed some complaints.
I kind of lost interest afterwards. I don't know. I wasn't interested anymore about a second chance mate, despite this book needed a HEA. I'm giving this three stars, because this was finely written. Admittedly this was a fine book, if not a different paranormal wolf story, and for my own personal issues. It had some originality in it. First half was engaging, good and dark. Second part, kind of a drag and so repetitive. Especially the court scene and heroine's supposedly needed "healing".
Amusing, first werewolf book I've read as I understood, where they considered their wolves, separate entities from them. Then contradicting itself with their version of healing, which is just psychotherapy to humans😛. So what's with all that in the first part of the book, where heroine was feeling so much pain, so acutely emotionally and physically, it was debilitating? The traumas and everything so painful to her existence and nature as a werewolf? She being addicted to drugs to avoid so much pain from what her former mate was doing? Then later in the second half of the book, she would be saying, it was simple for her wolf, as if nothing waking up from being dormant for long, but she herself needed much healing. When in fact every traumatic thing she had experienced, had got something to do with her other half being a werewolf. Her wolf with all those drugs, losing a mate and being dormant for so long, yet with no consequences? Yet she herself needed to heal. I find this book contradicting itself in many parts. In the werewolf world, from my readings, even in this book, their instincts lean more towards their wolf counterparts. They're supposed to be more beasts than humans.
Now David😛... as a strong alpha male, so excited feeling the strong pull with finding his new mate. Asking himself if it was the same with other mated couples, if they were able to leave their beds once they found them. Telling himself he couldn't leave his new found mate alone. Then for his duties, leaving his mate for months. Their wolves had already mated, but as for their human forms, it could wait.He had decided to wait😛 for heroine's healing. For new mate bonds, werewolves were supposedly mostly unable to resist the pull. They were inseparable. Even heroine was saying this with her former mate. Also from the many werewolves books I've read😛. I also found it a bit diverting that his voice in his POV while I was reading, a supposedly hulking alpha male king, sounded like a wet behind the ears teenager, gushing about his first love, instead of a powerful king😛. Well in fairness, he wasn't really described in the book as kingly.
I know this is fiction. I'm sorry, I couldn't seem to go with the ride..yet. With regard to this version, despite interesting and different. One was the logic of a second mate in this subgenre. What if in another scenario where the heroine's first mate was still alive, David the king who was still unmated and claiming heroine was his mate. Werewolves in this subgenre, wait for a long time before finding their mates most of the time, and sometimes never. Well according to the many werewolf romance books I've read. They had pack conferences and gatherings for the leaders, where they'd meet each other. What then? Not unless a reverse harem wolf romance, would then be created by another author😛. Confusing. Not to be taken seriously though😆. Another thing that wasn't discussed was, what if heroine was voted to be executed or imprisoned for life? What would David do?
Sorry a long review. I couldn't help😛 citing some points I wasn't so agreeable with, yet at the same time worth considering, if I would be open to something new and a different perspective to what I'm used to.
Over all, a fascinating and interesting read, despite my issues. Maybe I'm just too biased and old school. I should be open to new tropes with regard to this sub genre😛.
This is a must read. Truly one of the best books I have ever read. The story is captivating, all that the FMC goes through and we share that journey with her in this beautifully written story.
This has been added to my short list of fav cheating books. But not for the reason you think. Most of my favorites on that list are because I live for the on-page, caught-in-the-act scenes (I wanna witness the nasty business), but this makes the list for the psychological turmoil. Think the early days of Criminal Minds but as a romance novel, if that makes sense?
This author has gotta be a member of THE FB Cheating Romance reader group I’m in, because she understood the assignment.
It has so much. Graphic violence. OW drama. Revenge. Unpacking trauma. Written so well.
This was a story formerly published on wattpad that I enjoyed because no doormat heroine who takes back her cheating azzhole husband. Oh satisfying. It’s a paranormal so we have werewolves, hero 1 and heroine married for four years without children, or pups whatsoever. The hero’s mother hates the heroine and the weak hero 1 feels diminished in his already tiny masculinity so they decides that it’s the heroine’s fault and the hero 1 will have a mistress who provides them with a pup. So, the heroine is against it but she must accept because the pack wants it. Hero 1 then mates with the chosen bitch ahem she wolf and does it repeatedly, since it doesn’t work the first time, so the poor heroine, according to the most unfair paranormal law #1 that says that the cheated mate will have to suffer unbearable pains when her cheating mate cheats, feels so much pains that she has to be sedated and pumped with opiates. She becomes addicted, because, even after the ow gets pregnant the awful hero 1 keeps having sex with her. Follow wrongly accused heroine, imprisonement, torture, various mistreatments until the child of the devil is born and guess what, it’s not the hero. So, the hero’s mother hates commands ow to tell the truth and realizes he’s been tricked, so he kills ow and her lover aka the pups father. Then he tries to win the heroines back. She won’t have it. And kills the hero1. Yes, just like that. Enter hero 2, aka true hero. Who’s also the king, of course. The heroine has to go through trial but is of course declared innocent while all the other people who hurt her are punished. Hero 2 and heroine find out they’re mate and heroine also goes through painful therapy. HEA with pups. Meaning, the hero 1 was obviously the infertile one, not the heroine. Good debut romance, there’s a lot of what the heroine goes through with her first mate, which I appreciated because it was very angsty and there was no coming back from that, I’m glad she never thought for one moment to take the awful cheater back, not since the idiot decided to cheat and impregnate another woman. I loved how strong she was and how brave she turned out to be until the end. And the hero 2 was a darling, strong but kind and never forceful or arrogant. Just what she needed. There’s a lot about her healing and going to therapy that maybe could be considered a bit too detailed but imo it was ok, because the whole story is focused on the heroine and her journey through pain, hurt, healing and happiness, so even if the part with hero 2 was not the majority of the book, I appreciated everything. Safety of course is ok for second mate, while the first one is a dirty weak cheater.
This author has incredible talent. I loved this story very, very much. I loved the gut punch and the betrayal. I loved that this was not redeemable, and she was able to find her HEA with another worthy male.
My only compliant is I wanted more. I would have liked Henry's POV, because I like to see the cheaters mindset and what makes them justify their choices. I was unhappy that we never learned why he started to cheat outside of the scheduled heats, what lead to that and why both the OW and him did it both before she got pregnant and after. It explains his logic about how he wanted a child and felt like a failure by not getting her pregnant but never touched on why he chose to have a dull blown relationship with the OW. After he realized he betrayed his mate I was disappointed with his lack of suffering which I think would have felt more if we had been given his POV. Same with the OW, I would have liked her mindset and for her to suffer some more, or maybe just those scenes lasting a bit longer. I would have liked the MIL POV or at least a few more scenes with her disgraced and humbled.
I read these books for the angst and the rage and just felt like when it came time for the antagonists to get theirs it was too quick and not a lot of questions were answered. Especially as to him getting her mother figure and killing her.
I will for sure read this author again though. I could feel the connection with 2nd chance mate and I loved the way he loved her. This story was absolutely incredible and if she ever goes back to edit or adjust I just hope she gives us a little more. But at the very least with any new books I hope to see more.
Thank you again to this amazing author for putting your time and energy into this story and bringing it to the page for all of us to enjoy!!
No seriously. Everything you need to know about this book starts from there.
Lol, i lost my original scathing review lmfao. If you dont have anything nice to say, then say nothing. I was only being realistic but i guess thats not the way life goes. Thats true. Thats right😏
I will say that this story pushed so many of my dnf buttons but i decided to just skim through the whole book except for chaps 12,13,14 basically until Davids 1st pov chap. Then i continued to heavily skim until the epilogue. 15 years later. Yup. I kid you not. I just dont understand. The story was set up for Henry to fail and David to be the champion. I mean with all those medicines, you couldnt impregnate the OW without sex? Also calling her a concubine when you only need her for breeding. Thats a surrogate. Having a King who onlyintervenes at the end but the Alpha goes to yearly summits? Catherina was also very uncouth (i hope thats proper). The whole pack didnt respect the alpha. Even her friends were just there as friends in the sense that they were written so Regina didnt go crazier than she was. I mean, true friendship is defying laws. Or maybe thats just me?? Plus the whole second mates thing was super left field. There was no premonition that that was a thing in this word building verse. No back stories for proper growth. Reginas parents were awful. Her was a worthless Alpha. The king seems to be pretty worthless too. All they knew how to do was command in an Alpha voice. No one knew how to lead. What they teaching these pups?
Overall this was avery 2010 wattpad read. I woudve been locked in 15 years ago if this had hot the timeline but things and times change. To each thier own still.
