A Storied Style: The Book About YOU, Your Story, and How to Design Your Home with It

Rate this book
Seven questions that will help you design a home that tells your unique story.

Since the premiere of her first television show, Grace Mitchell has received thousands of messages from fans wondering how to tell their unique stories in how they design their homes. This design book gives the answer. . .

Taking you through seven essential questions, Grace showcases her exact design process to put together a home reflective of the people living in it. Over twenty thoughtfully photographed projects, some favorites and some never-before-seen reveals (including Grace's own home & garden!) are featured throughout the book to showcase how answering the seven questions leads to a home that is uniquely yours.

Storied Style will take you through a deeply personal process—personal for Grace, but also personal for you as you take a moment to slow down and reflect on your life and what you want your space to say about who you are. You'll be motivated by Grace's simple process, along with heartfelt stories of people whose lives have been changed by following her steps.

Using your story to dictate the style of your home will enable you to not only share yourself in a new way with those you welcome over, it will also help break the expensive cycle of fashioning your home around the latest trends.

Your home can be interesting, beautiful, timeless, and best of all, memorable, by centering it around you.

I was hoping for more than just white marble (black-veined) countertops, minimalist brass frames from Target, and wicker dining chairs. There's some style here, but it feels too curated and brand-new to be authentic. The rooms don't seem lived in at all. All I really gleaned from this book was that the trick to designing your home it just to have tons of money and to spend it all at west elm. I don't believe this author has never stepped foot inside a goodwill, and she buys all her table lamps in matching pairs. oh well..

on the plus side, I'm a huge fan of all the blue on the walls and the dreamy, dreamy kitchen appliances

Fans of the author will enjoy that tells the story of her path to becoming a designer which I always like. For those who prefer contemporary country and transitional styles. This book is aimed at people looking for a more personal unique decorating touch. Without fully knowing the people who live in the homes depicted it’s tough to gauge if the designs succeed. However I enjoyed the text and found the designs accessible to someone decorating their own home without a designer (but with the funds). If you like Joanna Gaines’ style you should like this.

As a big fan of this designer’s short lived television series, I very much enjoyed this book. It’s so refreshing to see interiors with color, pattern, and personality instead of the minimalist millennial grey interiors that seem so popular these days.
