What happens when your fictional crush comes to life?
Adrian is about to find out.
When he complains about the latest chapter of his favorite webnovel online, he doesn't expect the main character to come crashing through his skylight.
And yet, that’s exactly what happens.
Suddenly, Adrian finds himself face-to-face with the incubus Knox, a demon with ebony horns, dark magic, and golden eyes that make Adrian’s knees go weak. He’s everything Adrian secretly dreamed of... and everything his rational mind warns him against.
Adrian can’t let himself fall for someone who can’t possibly be real. Not even when that someone looks at him with a kind of hunger that sets his blood on fire.
But Knox isn’t the only monster that has crossed into Adrian’s world. His most deadly enemy has followed him, and now Knox needs Adrian so he can fight, to fuel his magic. He needs Adrian’s surrender, needs him in his bed, needs to feed on him the way incubi do.
I was intrigued by the premise. Having your favorite fictional character appeared in your world? Sign me up for that!
Unfortunately, the execution falls short. Everything stays shallow, insta-lovey, and cheesy. There are some good moments, but most of the time I was just zipping through it to get to the end quicker.
Caelen’s book is actually the one I’m interested in to read, but after such a disappointing first book, I don’t know if I’ll give this series another try.
This book was just too much fun to read and it hit the target audience perfectly! At someone who loves big nerdy events like Comic Con, sign me up for more of these fun adventures! We open with a man, Adrian, who is obsessed with a web novel (who isn't?) and in particular, an incubus called Knox. Suddenly, Knox is brought into Adrian's world and lands, quite perfectly, on his bed. However, when I enjoyed the most was the delivery of Adrian's trauma. I found his backstory to be compelling, and his issues with intimacy were done perfectly. I also enjoyed that while Adrian had body issues, they weren't something that was 'just in his head' like most creators do. When he has issues with something, it's because it's actually there, but that doesn't mean it's BAD. It's more about reshaping how you look at it. Personally, I'd love to see a book about the ex-boyfriend! I know it's weird, but I feel like it would be the perfect bully romance, with him getting bullied for a change and finding himself on the opposite end of what he's done to people. Sign me up for that! Also, I really enjoyed the Shadow King. I think he has a lot more to him and I kind of want him back already! My only issue was the pacing felt a little too quick. I felt like it was "and then and then" and we never got a chance to just delve into the 'now' of the book. I think if these books became a bit longer and gave some more depth to the scenes, it would make people very, very happy. In a way, it's a massive compliment - it's saying that we want more rather than less! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved the idea behind the story, but the writing was a bit juvenile. At times I felt like the dialog was disjointed and didn't flow naturally. I liked Knox, he was a really great character. Adrian on the other hand had no personality. Most of the story he stared at his phone or computer or he was hiding. Adrian's lack of personality made it hard to believe there was any chemistry or passion between him and Knox.
3.5 I really wanted to LOVE this but I ended up liking it instead. For me, I felt like there wasn’t enough moments of Knox and Adrian falling for each other besides needing to have sex. It was a good book but I would have loved more emotional building.
I did enjoy Adrian’s insecurities and how easy it was to relate to him. I love the whole “characters from a book come to life” and I’ll definitely continue this series.
"Adrian woke slowly, awareness returning in hazy fragments. He wasn’t sure how long he’d slept. The scent of his favorite demon lingered in the air— that rainy, masculine scent that he was starting to associate with something that made him want to wrap himself in that smell. A weight pressed against his side, warm and solid. He opened his eyes, and his breath hitched. Knox was watching him."
Silvana Falcon is a new to me author and I loved Knox, which is the first book in the author's fantasy/PNR Monsters of Veridia series. This is Knox and Adrian's story and be warned it does finish on a HFN. The basic premise is that the characters from a webstory literally fall into our world and into the bedroom of our MC nerd blogger and lover of said webstory - and in particular the incubus Knox, who has landed in his bedroom. Unfortunately, he is not the only visitor from the story...
It did feel a bit rushed at times to me and could have easily had another 100+ pages, but I am guessing more will be explained and revealed as the series progresses.
Very interesting story ~ i am a huge fan of Isekai, and a reverse Isekai is even better.
Because the MC is an incubus I was expecting too much smut but damn this author surprised me ! I really enjoyed the fact that the human MC was insecure, with a trauma and that Knox had to work for it. I wish I could have seen the brother and the ex being ashamed and destroyed more but eh, maybe in book 2 haha.
The granny was super adorable and fun~ all the side characters in general ~
The only thing that would have been better if changed is the timeline. Everything happened waaaay too fast !
Knox and his mate did not had time to really know each other to really make me believe the trauma was healed, and I couldn’t really ship them together because I did not have time to really get to know them. I saw the second couple coming a mile away haha, so that part was not surprising. But I can’t wait for book 2.
Dnf at 92%. I really wanted to like this book. The cover and blurb had me all sorts of excited, but the writing and story didn't deliver for me. The characters and story were very surface level which didn't allow me to feel any interest in what happens to anyone. There is almost zero chemestry between Adrian and Knox but somehow they have the potential to mate bond? I almost dnf at 77% when it was revealed that in order to mate bond with an Incubus they have to have penetrative sex. This is problematic because Adrian is on record stating he doesn't like it, but is willing to suffer through it?? (and even asks Knox to use his magic to basically make him like it)?? Knox knows Adrian's aversion but basically tells him to "trust him" and that he won't influence him with his magic, yet there is all sorts of magic during the sexy times. This whole scene made me cringe. I dnf'd because I just couldn't bring myself to actually finish because I didn't care to know how it ends.

The cover is awesome. Strong start and I was sure I was going to like this one. Mystical book boyfriends for the win. Knox had to get used to the new world and pajamas, Adrian had to deal with his crush and grandmother knowing more about sex than he'd like. Things started feeling a bit high school with a quick gathering of all the players, power ranger like attempts to confront the bad guy and insecurities/betrayal from family and exes. A lot of running around. Stopped about three times.

(I received an audiobook copy for an honest review of this book.)
Book boyfriends became real in this supernatural mlm romance. I loved getting both Knox's and Adrian's pov. Knox trying to navigate this strange magicless world was funny and entertaining. I loved seeing Adrian become more confident as he helped battle "The Shadow King". This first book set up the rest of the series well, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
I have really loved a few other books by this author. I just finished Mate Me, Save Me and I loved the hurt/comfort in it so much. Only Fangs was a really fun and entertaining novella. Hell's Most Incompetent Demon was a really sweet book with two of the softest MCs I've read, and I'm really looking forward to more in that series.
So it's hard for me to DNF this author, but after getting to 32% and reading over some of the reviews, I don't know that this book is going to improve for me. I'm just very bored by the characters and the plot.
So much of this story just didn't work for me. I've read another series that features story book characters brought to life so I thought I'd appreciate it here but I just didn't. There were a lot of inconsistencies regarding the fantasy character's acceptance of our world. In some places Knox was perplexed by the "metal carriages" but in the next scene he's thinking about the "cars being in traffic" - using that language. I get that the author didn't want to spend a ton of time focusing on the adjustment but I just wish the inconsistency wasn't there.
I was intrigued to have an MC who had the specific insecurities he did being paired with an incubus. I had initially liked how Knox was supportive and reassuring and had even stated that there are other ways for couples to enjoy each other than having penetrative sex. But then it all kind of went out the window and instead of Adrian himself asking to try, it was Knox who convinced him to try it out and then of course the magic cock cured him. I'm not saying that with the right partner things can't be different I just wish that the author had approached it in a way that made it more about Adrian's choices and him becoming more secure and confident instead of acquiescing to Knox's suggestion.
I also felt real squicky about the "revenge" that Knox sought against Adrian's ex. It felt wrong - not satisfying. I think there could have been something good in there that got Adrian closure while focusing positively on where Adrian was at in his feelings toward sex instead of making his ex suffer in such a way and add making sex negative for him.
I won't finish the series and I won't seek out this author's work again.

Safety (may contain spoilers)
SA/rape: none
Other person drama: Adrian has a wildly shitty ex who features (unwanted) but otherwise no others.
This was really engaging at the start, but I found the action took over the book to the detriment of character development.
All kinds of shit happens, and is quickly resolved only for the next shit thing to immediately happen. I didn't feel any sense of a building climax, it was just one thing after another, and the way it's presented was very much, "and then this happens; and then that happens".
I also found Adrian's self-deprecation to be very grating. I understand where it comes from and think some of it is justified, but I feel like it leaned a bit too hard into the woe-is-me trope which I can't abide.
I know I'm over a book, when the last scene is a sex scene and the whole time I am just willing them to hurry up and get on with it.
I really likes the whole concept. Fan fiction coming to life/coming into the real world. It’s a great idea. Just somehow the execution of the story for me wasn’t what I hoped. Their relationship felt very quick and not in an explainable way. It was very much they had sex and then somehow they’re in love after that one encounter. I know there was the fandom love/obsession from before but that’s fandom and it wasn’t really translating for me into real life obsession/love/lust. I didn’t buy it. Also there were a lot of things that weren’t explained and so it made everything feel a bit confusing.
A quick, fast paced story, not a typical storyline but a bit too quick and feels a little rushed through. I did like that it gave the MMC a different type of hang up than usually read. Overall a quick read to pass a day between books
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Adrian’s burnt out and bruised badly from real-life love. He’d rather immerse himself in his favorite web novel and dream of being seduced by its hero, the incubus demon Knox, with his glowing eyes and sexy shadow powers. Be careful what you wish for…
One massive storm and shattered skylight later, Adrian is looking at either the best cosplay costume he’s ever seen…or the real deal. Because seductive, powerful Knox is in his bedroom, and something truly weird is going on.
The story is entertaining and races along as Adrian evolves from thinking this is a joke to realizing Knox is his fantasy come to real-life and actually lives in a parallel world, and portals have opened all over, bringing chaos to this world. His attraction to Knox is difficult for him, due to his personal demons that have him knowing he would never, ever be enough to satisfy a bona-fide incubus, no matter what Knox indicates. It’s heartwarming (and steamy!) to see Knox and Adrian work through Adrian’s worries and have Adrian realize their connection is real and possibly the most important thing in both their existences, because Knox needs magic, and there’s none in the human world to draw from…unless he connects with the right person. And that happens to be….yes, romance fans, it’s Adrian, of course! Lovely steamy intimate times ensue.
The villain is wreaking havoc and using it to gain public support, more of Knox’s allies have come through portals, Adrian’s grandmother is fabulous, Adrian’s meeting online best friends in person finally, and confronting the ex and person who did him wrong and hurt him badly…there’s never a slow moment, and yes, Russell Crowe, I was entertained.
I did want more development of some elements; while the author has many threads open that I assume will be revealed in subsequent books, such as who writes the web novel and how is it that the story is actually real—I wanted more exploration of the MCs and their situation. I missed what Adrian does for a living, and wondered how they’re going to make a life together/a living? There also didn’t seem to be a lot of questioning in the human world of all these mythical figures suddenly appearing. We get some info on Knox’s conflicts and evolution, but mainly in summary; we don’t get to see him and Adrian in Veridia or experience that from Adrian’s perspective. And, what happens with the person who hurt/betrayed Adrian with his ex—there’s a confrontation, but it felt dealt with too neatly with no indication of where it’ll go in the future, given it’s not a connection that just goes away. I wanted more details about these two; their situation felt surface-level.
A personal thing—the use of Bay Bridge as the name of the bridge in a big scene did in my brain because I kept thinking it meant we were in San Francisco, which is not the setting of the story. That was definitely a Me issue. I believe the towns are fictional.
HEA, incubus demon-human, size difference, monsters, must-have-sex for magic. No cheating, no others—but before Adrian decides to act on his attraction to Knox, Knox does it’s entirely safe for me, and his motive for trying was indisputable/didn’t feel icky. Recommended, and looking forward to more stories in this world.
My thanks to Booksprout and the author for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.
A Brilliant Story, Listen & Start to an Amazing New Series!
Knox: An MM Romance Story Monsters of Veridia, Book 1 By: Silvana Falcon Narrated by: John Solo
Silvana Falcon had me at the first like of their blurb, “What happens when your fictional crush comes to life?”, and I knew right then that this story was going to be beyond amazing. It is a fascinating paranormal MM romance novel, an imaginative story that drew me right in, grabbing my attention like no other, and held it captive the entire time. Imagine a book boyfriend, one you fantasized about, not only coming to life straight off the pages, but crash landing right into your bedroom. Adrian could not believe it when Knox, the demonic incubus and lead character of the “Monsters of Veridia” did just that. Is it a dream come true, or maybe a nightmare unfolding? It was great to watch Adrain and Knox navigate their newfound relationship, as well as Knox learning his way around. But Knox was not the only one who crossed over from his world, and there were some other monsters, ones that are stirring up trouble and creating havoc. There is never a dull moment in this action-packed story, a story that has the perfect balance of drama, angst, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Beside the two lead characters there are some fabulous side/secondary characters and I am looking forward to learning more about them and what comes next in this series. Silvana Falcon, thank you for this amazing story and wild ride.
🎧📚🎧 John Solo did a fabulous job voicing these characters and his portrayal of each was brilliant, giving each their own unique voice, one that fit their personality and demeanor perfectly. His talent knows no bounds and his ability to perform many voices is amazing, and he makes it easy to follow along and tell who is who. Solo’s pacing and tone are just right for the story, and he handles the back-and-forth dialogue effortlessly and never misses a beat. He is an entertaining storyteller and his performance elevates the story to another level. Thanks for another amazing listen.
Ok. Well, my problem is NOT that Adrian doesn't prefer sex. Not at all. My problem is that it was never clearly mentioned anywhere. Not in the blurb, not even by him. All he said was that he'd felt inadequate which i thought he meant maybe he was ace. But that's not even the case! That's a great way of saying, for an incubus story expect the same rolodex of sex acts but do not expect any sex at all.
i get Adrian has a problem, but i wish it was told to me beforehand. And not left to be discovered around 51% mark! Maybe at least 10% in? At first it read like he doesn’t like to be the receiver, which, great then let Knox be the man! Why pout? But no, it shall be “other ways” to do it. This incubus story will have everything you need! Except sex! Well, maybe not everything you need then.
Look i'd rather have Adrian be asexual instead of this route. i would've gladly continued reading if that would've been the case. But even with the way they went, Knox already accepted him as who he is. Then, when he got the acceptance he needs and that's when we hear this? Then what's the point?? If i just knew from the beginning what i'm getting at, i could curb my expectations or kill it if need be. This story was marketed as spicy incubus story. Ooo spicy? Count me in! No. No. Only barely spicy, that too with an freaking incubus. Count me out. Oh and did i mention incubus?
The story is decent with good fast paced action. And Evelyn deserves the best grandma award she's awesome! But you have to ignore:
-the ridiculous amounts of inaccuracies with day/night, breakfast/lunch, bed/chair and strangers suddenly knowing who Adrian is, sans explanations.
Now that you know from beforehand, if that's what you're looking for then by all means, you can read it. It's an otherwise decent read.
i just wish someone told this before i decided to waste my evening reading this. Time i could've spent with reading something more suited to my liking.
Independent reviewer for BookSirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.
I have not read anything by this author before, so while the blurb grabbed, I was unsure how the story would be delivered.
But bloody hell, they NAILED it!
Except for maybe one teeny weeny thing, that I might or might not have missed when I requested this book, so I'll come back to it.
Adrian is human, and Knox is incubus from an online book he's been reading. So why, is the object of his dreams, on his bedroom floor, after crashing through his roof? And who else came through with Knox?
I loved this, I really did! Adrian and Knox have a say, along with Daniel, who is Adrian's friend and Caelen, Knox' arch enemy. I love hearing from every one, I really do.
It's smexy, what with Knox being an incubus, but I did find the emotional connection a bit one sided, with the majority coming from Adrian. He has been betrayed at the highest level, and I did NOT see how coming at me. His perception of his body causes him the biggest issue, but Knox has no problems with it!
Coming back to my niggle. While it's clear this book is first in series, I might have missed that it finishes on a bit of a cliff hanger! Knox and Adrian get their HFN ending, but the book doesn't. And I was NOT prepared for that! I can cope with cliff hangers, *IF* I know they are coming at me.
I see Daniel and Caelen playing a huge part in the next book, hopefully, and I feel there is MUCH to Caelen we do not know, and that he is not all he appears to be. My book brian went *ding ding ding* at a point in this book, and I look forward to seeing whether that comes to pass. And Leon will need a story, cos, clearly, he has things hidden from his friends! Lyrian and Zev need a book too!
I look forward to (hopefully!) getting my hands on future books!
4 very VERY good stars (but only cos of the cliff hanger thing!)
"Together," Adrian whispered, echoing Knox’s promise. Knox smiled. "Always."
I loved this book! It was such a fun story! What person (kid or adult) doesn't fantasize at some point about meeting their favorite character from a book, movie, etc. in real life? Adrian loves and knows everything about the Incubus Knox from his favorite webnovel and blogs about it. Imagine his surprise when someone looking exactly like Knox (or a perfect cosplayer..?) comes crashing through his skylight into his room. He doesn't believe immediately that this is really THE Knox though. I liked Knox's personality. His confusion over things in the real world that are not in his own (like almost getting hit by a car). And surprise how much Adrian seems to know about him and his friends. I also like that although he is an incubus, he's trying to resist his urges and be more than just his basest nature. I also liked Adrian's character growth over the course of the story. And of course loved the chemistry between them. (On a last note- whoever made the amazing cover of this book needs to make one of Knox in those duck pajamas!)
After reading this book, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the audiobook. I've listened to a lot of John Solo's narrations, but I think he does an especially wonderful job bringing this story to life. I could easily distinguish between the different characters' voices. I was especially drawn to Knox's. I've never heard him speak in that deep tone before and it was perfect.
A wonderful story and I'm looking forward to more in this world!
Fun, sweet, and spicy—all the good stuff! While the premise was fun, the heart of the story is a sweet hurt/comfort tale about finding love with someone who appreciates you exactly as you are.
It was also fun getting to know Adrian and Knox’s friends and see why those friendships exist in the ways they support each other. I can’t wait to read the next book!
**SPOILERS** * * * * The heat between Adrian and Knox was 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and I loved how respectful and understanding Knox was with Adrian’s emotional scars. (Not something you might expect of an incubus, but I suppose he’d know what constitutes consent better than anyone AND he knows how to get around all the usual hang-ups.)
On the complete *other* side of the spectrum, the chemistry between Daniel and Caelen was 🔥. (I had to laugh when Caelen is teasing him and Daniel thinks, ‘God, why did I have to have a thing for white-haired villains?’ …Me too, Daniel. Me too. 😔) I’m excited to see more of who Caelen really is and if Daniel can help him heal and change. Next book? Yes?
Also, it was nicely cathartic to see Adrian’s ex get some serious comeuppance. Usually the main character will hold the new love interest back from seeking revenge, but I’ll admit I loved Knox’s reasoning.
"You don’t have to do this," he said. Knox finally turned to look at him. "Yes, I do." Adrian swallowed hard. "Why?" "Because you’re worth defending," Knox said, as if it were the simplest truth in the world.
So much goodness in this book. Read it, you won’t be disappointed!

Adrian is intently reading the latest segment of “Monsters of Veridia” on his laptop and shouts out his insult of the main character’s actions, questioning how Know could even imagine he could overcome the Shadow King Caelen without a better plan? Was he brain-dead? Incubus Knox was going to get himself killed if he didn’t stop and think things over better! Adrian’s review would definitely not be flattering this week! Fortunately his grandmother intervened with a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies to remove his frown. Heading for his favorite online forum, Adrian joined the discussion of this latest chapter. But as he typed his annoyed comment, an enormous thunderclap literally shook the house and the power went out! Glass shattered and a figure crashed through the skylight and landed on the floor, obviously confused about where he was and confused to see a poster of himself on Adrian’s bedroom wall! Adrian reached for his hand to help him up and felt a strange tingling up his arm. Then his grandmother arrived and hustled Knox to the living room couch as she made him tea.
Adrian knows this man is not real, he can’t be! But the shock doesn’t end there because not only did Knox arrive out of the web novel, but his fierce Shadow King enemy has somehow followed! As an incubus, Knox would have the strength to fight him, but he needs to “re-charge” his depleted magic in the method an incubus feeds… Is Adrian prepared to take his hero to his bed? And will Knox defeat his enemy before havoc reigns on Earth?
Adrian is a nerd. He has been following the weekly chapter of his favorite webnovel, Monsters of Veridia, for over three years, writing reviews and discussing it with the other online fans. Knox is Adrian’s favorite character, a demon incubus who was fighting for the side of right. A good guy, at least in comparison to Caelen, the Shadow King, and all around bad guy. Adrian lives with his grandmother and spends all his extra month on merchandise. He has a lifesize poster of Knox on his wall over the bed. So of course that is the first thing Knox sees when he crashes through Adrian’s skylight on a stormy night. Knox has no idea where he is or how he got here, but once he realizes that the Shadow King has also ended up in this realm he needs to power up to fight him. Once Adrian gets over the fact that Knox is real and not some actor, he immediately turns to his online community to help Knox and his Veridian sidekicks take on the Shadow King here on Earth before Caelen has a chance to destroy both worlds. Knox wasn’t always a good guy but has tried to turn off his incubus’ worst tendencies to fight off the Shadow King and his minions. If he wants Adrian’s help he must curb his desire to drain him until there is nothing left while at the same time getting enough power to fight Caelen, something he is constantly tempted to do. In typical Silvana Falcon, Knox has plenty of non-stop action and plenty of snark. This is book one of two and while Knox and Adrian get their Happy for Now, the story continues in Caelen: An MM Villain Romance
In my opinion, absolutely outstanding! A delicious combination of fantasy thriller and M/M romance. Adrian, a fantasy fan blogger, becomes part of his fantasy when a portal opens and Knox, his incubus idol, literally falls through the skylight into his bedroom one stormy night. Contrary to the standard belief in the naughty nature of incubi, is trying to reform. He takes a near instant liking to Adrian, but he has a mission to complete and needs Adrian's help. Adrian has always felt inadequate and recently was dumped by his supposed one true love. He can't believe that Knox is "real," and even more that there could ever be anything lasting between them. Feeling worthless, will Adrian ever be able to accept that he has real value? Especially to Knox?
Those two, along with Adrian's human friends and Knox's fantasy companions, are set to face off with Caelen, the Shadow King, who has come through another rift and plans to emotionally enslave humans. The drama and excitement will keep you on the edge of your reading seat all the way to the end. But ultimately will Grandma see Adrian and Knox get their HEA?.

What's a boy to do when his crush from a fantasy novel comes to life? Well...enjoy the adventure of course! Adrian is a typical young man into fantasy fiction. He's an avid reader of a web novel and the sexy incubus Knox gets Adrian all hot and bothered! When fantasy, becomes reality the story heats up!
The intersection of fantasy and reality means that what Adrian only reads on his computer screen now crashes into his life. Knox enters through shattered glass. Excitement and adventure follow!
How did Knox cross over from a fantasy to a real life? Adrian and Knox's journey takes you through an adventure to find out, and an enemy to defeat!
When Knox's nemesis and enemy also somehow crashes into the 'real world', it means that Adrian and Knox, together with sexy friends (who also appear in the fantasy novel and land up in the 'real world') have to take on a threat to humanity.
Adrian's friends rush to the aid of the pair of lovers. Through hot sex (to recharge Knox!) exhilarating adventures, and helping rid the world of a villainous demon king, the boys have a raucous adventure!
A fun novel for those who like their romance spiced with fantasy. A bit slow at times, but charmingly redeeming. Who's next in line of the friends to have a sexy adventure?
Be sure to look out for the next in the series!
P.S. I wonder what gran is hiding?.

When Adrian’s favorite character, the brooding demon Knox from the web novel Monsters of Veridia, crashes through his skylight, he’s sure it must be a prank, or a dream. But Knox is all too real, disoriented and unable to access his magic in a world that makes no sense to him. Throughout their exchanges, Adrian struggles with a blend of attraction and wariness, unsure whether to trust his fictional crush turned real. As Adrian helps him adapt, their connection grows, even as they face the escalating threat of Caelen, the ruthless Shadow King, who has followed Knox into this world. Knox needs to restore his powers, even if it requires drawing energy in unconventional ways, and Adrian offers himself to Knox, who realizes that Adrian's energy Adrian feels uniquely potent and unlike any other source in this magic-limited world. With Caelen gathering power and followers, including Adrian’s estranged brother, Adrian and Knox are drawn into a battle that bridges fantasy and reality, forcing them to confront dark forces and make impossible choices. Hot and steamy MM incubus-human romance, exploring love, connection, loyalty, courage, commitment, and magic.
The cover on this is gorgeous, and the blurb sounded really fun... but I *almost* passed it by as it's an author I tried before and DNF'd with a lot of disappointment over the writing style. Still, I am starving for MM monster romance, so I gave it a shot.
For the monster-fucking aspect, it's... completely meh 🤣. Knox has horns and a big dick and that's about it, so although this series is billed as a monster series, it doesn't really *feel* that way. But it was still a lot more fun than I hoped! Enough to keep me going through the whole thing, even though I suspect that someone who is much more involved in fanfic and geek-con culture would have gotten even more out of it than I did, since that's the world these heroes revolve around. Still, it was a fun diversion and I'm glad I gave it a shot! As I saw another reviewer say, the writing *is* a bit juvenile, but you know what? I don't care. The world building was fun, the storycraft flaws didn't pull me too far out of the story, and overall, I enjoyed the heck out of it. 😊
A new world, a new series by one of my favorite fantasy/paranormal romance authors. Knox (Monsters of Veridia) is a lover from another realm story. Knox falls through a portal and crashes through a skylight onto Adrian's bed. He's an incubus, Adrian's favorite character in weekly released web novel.
The worldbuilding is excellent. There's a lot of fodder for additional books for Adrian's friends and Knox's allies. I hope Adrian's Grandma will be seen again. She's warm and welcoming. Not blinking an eye over Adrian's 'cosplay' friends.
There's angst and tension between the mains. Adrian is the only one who can power up Knox, but he's intimacy shy. When they finally come together…. ohhhh mama. Fan your face and clutch your pearls.
This was a quick read. Lots of action, it never stops from the crash to the end. Very enjoyable characters. Book two will be out soon. It seems like Silvana Falcon has a thing for bad boys. Reformed or not. So do I. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This story was… alright. For a story about an incubus, I would have expected the sex to be just a little more spectacular. Don’t get me wrong, there was plenty of it, but the climax (both literal and physical) always fell short for me.
The story only switched over to Daniel’s POV about three times but every one of those times I wanted to tear my hair out I was so uninterested. I realize the author was trying to set it up to lead into the next book in the series with Daniel as the MC, but I feel there were better ways to do that. I found myself struggling to finish the story about 80% in.
Overall, I liked the story. I did find some parts to be dragging and there was a big lack of descriptions for people and places (not in all cases). I knew getting into this that there was going to be a lot of steam since one character was an incubus but I wish there was less. I sort of feel like other parts of the story suffered in order to make room for the love scenes. I know Adrian and Knox's story is finished but I want to know what happened with his brother and ex even though Adrian doesn't care anymore. I would have also liked to know what's coming next. Like is this a world the author is going to keep exploring? There are so many questions left from this one that it will be disappointing if there is only this book. I know this sounds like a rant against it but I did like the story at its core. I would definitely keep reading (future) book(s) from this series.
