She’ll be home for Christmas, but only in her nightmares. On a stormy Christmas Eve, Imogene, mortician in training, finds herself alone and glum. The mortuary freezer is full, but her friends and family have left town and so has the festive spirit. After a near miss with a falling tree on the way home, she retreats to her apartment with her cat and a bottle of wine.
Imogene drifts off to sleep, only to be awakened by three ghosts. Two of them are familiar faces from her past; victims she helped find justice for. But the third is a stranger, and he arrives with a chilling proposition.
As the boundaries between dream and reality blur, Imogene must learn the lessons of her past and present to solve a dilemma in her future. Will she awaken on Christmas morning, or has she plunged into a never-ending nightmare?
Perfect for fans of dark humor and holiday tales with a twist, O Hairy Night invites you to explore the eerie intersections of life, death, and redemption.

Imogene anticipates a Christmas devoid of joy. Her fiance has gone to celebrate with his parents and her grandmother is busy with her own life. Her life is further disrupted by ghostly visitations which are fun and scary as well. What are they trying to convey to her? The twist at the end is enlightening. I enjoyed the dark humour and fantastic world building with quirky characters. I like the descriptive subtitles. I look forward to more of this versatile author's books which are entertaining and enthralling.
“They’ll trust you. You’re their hair stylist. Everybody listens to their hair stylist.”
Imogene knows this to be true, but something doesn't sit right with her. He is not who he wants her to believe he is. It's a scary Christmas for Imogene with everyone gone. She feels deserted, but just like the Ghosts from "The Christmas Carol" she is visited by her own ghosts. She knows them. Turns out that things were both better and worse for her than she thought. Once she pulls herself through it really becomes a great Christmas.
Such a fun and clever spin on one of my favorite Christmas classics. From beginning to end I was captured in the story. Wondering whether Imogene was experiencing and out of body experience I kept my hopes up that all would be well. Even though I know it’s only a story Greta’s writing style draws me into the life of her characters. Rooting for the happy ending as I follow along. Adding this wonderful story to my annual Christmas classic reading list. You should too.
Imogene does it again. She manages to interact with the newly deceased solving murders no one else could. This entire series is fabulous, well written and entertaining. I can’t wait for the next “Imogene & El” book to come out; I seem to devour them in no time making the wait seem like forever. I highly recommend this book and the entire “Imogene/Hair” series. O Hairy Night: A Mortician Christmas Novella (The Mortician Murders), my sevemteenth read from author Greta Boris. An enjoyable, 110-page well-written ghost mystery. “I received a courtesy Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018.
I loved this version of A Christmas Carol! Poor Imogene must have been so confused. I do think she did learn lessons during that time. People cared about her and she meant something to them. It is not an easy lesson to learn and a harder one to accept sometimes. I enjoyed this holiday tale immensely and highly recommend it!
It's the silly season and all of Imogene's friends and family have gone away. She is feeling lonely and abandoned. Thanks to a severe storm, it looks like she will be spending Christmas alone. Then the dreams start. Or are they visitations? Imogene really can't tell and her 'ghost' friends seem confused as well. Are there lessons here she needs to learn?
This story immediately pulled me in with its lonely, wintry atmosphere and quiet sense of dread. Imogene feels deeply human—isolated, tired, and carrying emotional weight that slowly reveals itself. The mix of dark humor, ghosts, and moral reflection gives it a haunting charm that lingers. It feels like a Christmas story for people who know the season isn’t always warm and joyful.
A journey into another dimension reminiscent of another very famous story, yet original and equally enjoyable. Clink those sherry glasses together it's Merry Christmas once more. Highly Recommended.
I've read all of the series and enjoyed it very much. I must say I was disappointed in this book. It wasn't orginal and way too short . Of course this is my opinion. I see some others gave it 5 stars.
A hairy novella about three ghosts that come to visit Imogene. Ghosts of present, past, and future make their way into her night of sleepless mayhem. Was it all a dream?
Is there anything lonelier than not having any friends or family to celebrate with during the Christmas holiday? Poor Imogene; through no fault of her own, that’s the predicament she finds herself in. But she’s not going to have a lonely Christmas; not when there are spirits around who drop by for a visit. What are they trying to tell Im? Follow along as she tries to make sense of it all. And is she in danger herself?
A well-written, somewhat spooky Christmas tale you won’t want to miss.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
