This course teaches the accent of the United Kingdom and Ireland. Instruction is provided on dialect product with multiple sample phrases and pronunciation examples. In addition, accent production is also about lexicon, grammar and cultural understanding so throughout the book details of appropriate word use and expressions are provided. A broad range of British and Irish accents are covered, starting out with a general British accent and then offering detailed reviews of Irish, Welsh, Scottish, West Country and Cockney accents. Other English accents, such as the accents common to major English cities are also covered at a summary level. This is an ideal way to prepare for audition or role that requires an accent for the UK or Ireland. An audiobook companion also offers another way to access this material. Note that given the differences in the format the structure of the audiobook is similar, but different in certain respects to the print version of this title.
