With war inching closer to Arcadia’s doorstep, Louis King, alongside the ever-dwindling council, must find a way to protect their new way of life or risk losing it all. Free from the internal threat that shadowed each step with dread and uncertainty, they must now work together to ensure the external forces aren’t able to breach the city walls. As August takes further control of the helm, the fate of Arcadia and the West Empire remains in the hands of a select few. While time ticks away, it becomes clear that the hardest-fought battles aren’t always on the battlefield.
Wow, our boy Louis has been through it all since he awoke from his cryo sleep... and let me tell you, I went into book three thinking I had a good idea of what was going to happen, but man, my theories were wrong... and I'm excited to see what is next!
This chapter of life in Arcadia for Louis is anything but a normal day in the life. Just when he feels like he's finally got a good grasp on his new role in the world after, Louis is faced with his greatest challenge yet... keeping the council functioning and Arcadia moving forward while the greatest enemy they've faced yet looms on the horizon. This third installment was my favorite so far! We really got to see the powers of Arcadia and the determination of its people during war time, and the technology and capabilities of the city was so cool; and to see the city stand against the massive military presence of the enemy on the outside, while Arcadia also struggles with winter for the first time. Sometimes, our greatest battle lies within our own walls.
Without spoiling too much, I will say that it's a bittersweet ending, but the journey isn't over yet! I can't wait to see what's ahead for Louis, and hopefully, Violet as well!
