They killed me.
I was their fated mate, and they deliberately killed me.
They laughed while I took my last breath, but they won’t be laughing for long.
I don’t deserve my fate—and they don’t deserve my forgiveness.
Now, I’m back, and I refuse to rest until I drag them to the grave with me.
They can’t run.
They can’t hide.
They can’t bury the past as easily as they buried me.
And I won’t let them.
Because even death won’t stop me from making them mine.

This is seriously dark. Like so dark even fog lights can't pierce it. Please check trigger warnings at the beginning of the book before reading. Your mental health matters.

When I read a book, I want to feel everything, whether raw emotion, anguish, or anger. I want it. Bring it. And Author Quinn Hawthorne brings it in “Wraith.”

There needs to be a discussion group for “Wraith” to sort out all my thoughts, interpretations, and feelings. I typically don’t read books with multiple characters and POVs. I find it difficult to follow the story and connect with the characters. I did not have that issue with “Wraith.” I found myself fully invested in all the characters, not just Lily.

The cruel way the others treated Lily was awful. Readers can speculate what might have led to this behavior due to the group's connection through a fated mate bond and the “threads” they speak of. The result is that Lily is no longer alive but still tethered to the guys, unable to move on in the afterlife. She begins her journey to show them how real their bonds are, that they have denied all along, and that the guys will always belong to her. Author Quinn Hawthorne not only goes into details about the emotions of each character, but she also goes into graphic details of how some of them permanently end things with their life. Those TW/CWs are noted for a reason. As mentioned earlier, a discussion group would be helpful because that ending left my mind whirling with thoughts. But overall, I enjoyed this read!

Definitly out of the box plotting line.

Fated mates, the rejection, how they guys basically killed her the abandoned her body to die alone in that abandoned building, then the love/hate, revenge/mate bond calling spiritual (if you don't want to say haunted by ghost, that is) with a Dash of ghostly segs scene...

Yeah this book definitly out of the box.
Not a bad thing, but fated mates.

What's the background for this fated mates. If this point didn't get to be such a strong point in the whole plot, I would ignore it.
But since the fated mates was short of the main issue from the start, I got to ask, what's the background for their bond? Their fated mates?
For paranorm readers, shifters, or something in those lines, we accept that fated mates. But these characters are humans. 100% humans. So how do they get that fated mates?

I didn't get the answer right to the end, so it feels like giant hole in the plot.

Another thing that bug me was the tribute scene for her. Told only from one of the guy POV and not hers. When back in previous chapter she was so sad and angry she couldn't come to see her family and friends while the bond make her tied the guys who rejected her.
Why not her POV too? Give her a sense of "humanity" in her family and friends love and loss for her. Cause the darkness of her revenge and anger is just too much in every chapter moving forward, the end got more synister and cult like.

I'll give a four star for the idea, for this book still lack huge hole on the background.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I skim read the majority of this. Quinn Hawthorne and Mae Celeste are pen names by the same author. Both like to work with spooky and the supernatural. I quite enjoy Harleigh Beck's supernatural horror erotica, so I tried to read some of Mae Celeste's works.

This author is not for me. I found the writing clunky. How the heroes behave towards the heroine is corny and unearned, they are immediately rude to her but we have no idea why they reject the bond. It's supposed to be very hurtful to the heroine, but it comes off as a little laughable. Like why are they so emo rude to her? Meanwhile, when the heroine transforms, it's a crude 160 that feels like a caricature of a sexy evil vamp. It feels like she's acting.

Wraith
by Quinn Hawthorne
Release date: February 14, 2025

Some books grip you from the first line and refuse to let go—Wraith is one of them. This isn’t just a revenge story; it’s a haunting, a reckoning, a slow-burn descent into a darkly poetic nightmare. Quinn Hawthorne delivers a chilling, immersive read that’s equal parts eerie and intoxicating, with a protagonist whose wrath is as compelling as their pain.

The premise alone hooked me: a fated mate bond shattered by betrayal, a brutal murder, and a soul that refuses to stay buried. The narrator’s voice is raw, vengeful, and unrelenting, pulling you into their ghostly grip as they hunt down the ones who wronged them. The pacing is perfect—tense, atmospheric, and dripping with suspense. Every scene pulses with intensity, balancing horror, romance, and revenge in a way that keeps the pages flying.

What I loved most was the eerie, almost poetic quality to the storytelling. There’s a weight to the words, a sense of inevitability that makes every moment feel electric. The romance—if you can even call it that—is twisted and beautifully broken, simmering beneath the surface of all that pain and fury. And the way Hawthorne weaves in themes of justice, fate, and the inability to escape the past? Absolute perfection.

If you love dark, vengeful paranormal stories with an edge of romance and an unflinching protagonist who refuses to be silenced, Wraith is a must-read. It’s haunting in every sense of the word—and I loved every second of it. I finished it in one sitting.

Wow! This is a very dark revenge fated mates story. I was not prepared for this book, but I could not put it down. I had to finish. I needed to finish. But, it’s DARK, please check your triggers.

My heart broke for Lily/Lilith. Her last moments alive she was so hopeful her fated mates were going to choose her and stop treating her badly. She wanted and needed revenge. All of her mates struggled, but didn’t want anyone else to know about it. My heart broke for them all at some point.

Lilith wanted her mates and she was going to have them one way or another. Her mates had rejected her, but she was possessive over them in her afterlife. You could feel her rage as you read.

Better than I could have imagined, gritty goodness. This story flips the traditional roles on their heads with this paranormal thriller. A short story with a punch, multiple points of view, a sweet heroine who turns into a bold queen and owns her place among her fated. And I was rooting for her the entire time, empathetic to her trails with her guys. She deserved her queen’s honor.

It could have used more character development as all the heroes (antiheroes) were homogeneous; I couldn’t tell one character from the other. And generally all the characters were nondescript. Still, it was spicy; it was dark, an entertaining read.

DNF. Ultimately wasn't really my thing. I thought the idea was really well thought out and was something I've not seen done too much where the Main Characters are killed. But I found it difficult to keep track of all 5 guys and the trigger warning on the beginning of the chapter about the chapter content felt like it took away from the shock factor of the event. Instead of wondering what's going to happen, I read thinking when is it going to happen. And I think it overall took away from the scene.

I liked the idea. But the execution wasn't for me.

I received this as an ARC and read 75% of it before I felt like I couldn't anymore. I felt like a neutral 3☆ was appropriate for what I read.

dark ghosty ride

I have zero clue what I just read but I know I won’t forget it. This is fated/rejected mates to a whole new level. Lily is gone and Lilith is here to stay. After Lilith’s mates leave her for dead, she wakes up as a ghost. She’s unsure why she’s still forced to suffer through the bonds when her mates are the ones that left her in this situation. Even being dead did not rid her of that pesky bond. Instead she realizes she can use it for revenge. And boy does she ever. This book is a quick read. It’s definitely dark. The mental health of the MCs definitely takes a noise dive and spirals due to the games she plays. The relationships are toxic with a capital T. I definitely have never read anything like this before. That’s for sure. Definitely make sure you check the content list before you dive in to this

They let her die. Now, she won’t let them go. Lily was nothing to them—just a scholarship girl, an outsider, a joke. Lucian, Thorne, Kael, Ciaran, and Aeron made sure she knew it. But when their cruelty turned deadly, when they left her bleeding to death on the stage of the abandoned Dovetail Theater, they thought that was the end. It wasn’t. Lily didn’t stay dead. Now, something else wears her name. Something relentless. Something vengeful. Lilith. She’s bound to them, haunting their every breath, feeding off their guilt, turning their lives into a waking nightmare. One by one, they break. One by one, they fall. And one by one, she takes them, she claims them. They thought they could forget her. They never understood—she was theirs. And now, they are hers. A steamy, dark, RH, fated mates, erotic, horror romance, where the heroine refuses to let death keep her from her men.

Make sure u read TWs before u read this novella

Lilith "Lily," a college student she didn't fit in with many people and felt like an outcast to all of the guys her fated mates, Lucian, Kael, Craran, Aeron, and Thorne. They harass her on the daily and rejected her, then killed her. So she is gonna make them pay she comes back for revenge for what her mates have done to her. She is definitely not one to mess with, and her mates are gonna find out the hard way after everything they have done to her. This is a very fast-paced paranormal good read.

Wraith was a story of fated mates, betrayal and revenge. Lilith was betrayed by Thorne, Kael, Ciaran, Aeron and Lucian. She was left for dead and her bond to them helps her exact her revenge. Check the trigger warnings and take them seriously as this book has some very dark themes. I do wish there was just a bit more of this one to answer some questions but overall I enjoyed the plot and story.

This is an extremely dark book, but it is also very good.
If you can get past the triggers then it is very enjoyable.
This is about death and revenge and it is written so well.
I am not going to go into the story as it would ruin the read, all I will say is that it is compelling and enthralling. 5 stars!

Well, that was not expected!

Wow, this was so much more than I expected. It was a twist on your typical dark story. Lily is something else entirely! I loved her so much!

My only regret is that I didn't get to see exactly where their story began, I would have loved that!

"I have always been yours,""My heart, my soul—every part of me belongs to you."

This book was a lot different than ones I normally read as it was paranormal involving ghosts, yet I loved every single second of it. The guys were cruel but the devotion shown in the end was everything! I just went on a crazy wild adventure with this story and I was sad that it ended because I wanted more! Now I’m about to go down the rabbit hole of all kinds of paranormal books because after this I’m absolutely obsessed!

Whoa! Whoa!! I devoured this—I could not put it down! From the very first page, I was completely hooked. And I was cracking up laughing! Oh, Lilith… what a powerhouse of a character. I absolutely love how she finds her voice, her strength, and takes back control of her life—or rather, her afterlife.

Each of the men starts off as someone you love to hate, but as the story unfolds, they somehow manage to grow on you. You can feel every ounce of Lilith’s pain, her fury, and her determination until she finally turns the tables and takes everything from them. It’s such a satisfying, wild ride! You won’t regret picking up this book—it’s an absolute must-read!

This was a short, interesting read but didn’t feel fully fleshed out. I was excited for the unique concept of fated mates murdering the FMC but this book just had too many “Why?”s that never get answered.
Why didn’t they like her?/Why did they think they “couldn’t be together? Why are there “fated mates” in an otherwise very normal, human setting? It’s never brought up with any characters outside of the FMC and MMCs.

I don’t feel like there was really much depth to any of the characters to explain any of their behaviors but the book is quite short.

I would love this concept and these characters to be explored in a lengthier novel where it didn’t feel like you entered in the middle of a story through and missed a lot of context. It also felt like it ended quite abruptly.

Quinn Hawthorne's Wraith

A deliciously dark read, and I mean DARK. Read the trigger warnings before you dive in. If you are looking for a little romance story with a little kick, this is not for you. If you are looking for a deep and full-bodied dark book, this life, and the afterlife, read on. This is a brilliant book that will have you looking over your shoulder and jumping at any noise or flicker of light.

The FMC, Lilly/Lilith is so well played out throughout this story. She starts out a shy lonely girl who though bonds have discovered her rated mate who will not talk to her and four other members of an obnoxious rich group, the MMC's, Lucian, Ciaran, Aeron, Kael, and Thorne. Not only do they want nothing to do with this girl from the poor end of town. they continually ridicule her and run her down.

She reaches that point where it is too much, and time to stand up for herself.

There is a death in the story that triggers off all things Wraith.

Now, it is hard to review without giving away the plot, even a little, because that would ruin the journey you, the reader, will take. This is a brilliantly written book. The pace is excellent, the story flows from one incident to the next with ease, and the build up to each incident is so well explained and the tension built up by an expert.

In a way, this is a very different love story, also in a way there are elements of enemies to lovers. Only hints, but enough to be there.

The thrust of the story is very dark revenge, but not just revenge, more the wroth of a woman’s scorn. A gift was taken and nobody came out to help, the bullies walked away, eyes closed. Revenge turns to vengeance and the price must be paid by the MMC’s; they must be destroyed.

The way vengeance is served, dollop at a time, is very imaginative and scary. As we progress, Lileth regresses into madness fighting her corner and the MMC's slowly lose the plot and grasps of togethership wither away, together with sanity and the will to live.

This book is such a must read. It is an eye opener that I was so able to relate to. These characters are all around us, we all know our own FMC's and MMC's who could fit the moulds here.

But the kicker for me were the last few lines of the book. Poot it all into context.

You must read this, then pick up more of Quinn Hawthorne's work. I have recently read Dolls of Ruin.... a great place to go to next.

This book takes the concept of fated mates and completely shreds it, twisting it into something dark, brutal, and deliciously haunting. We’ve all read stories where the protagonists resist the mating bond, but rarely do they go out of their way to torment, break, and utterly destroy their fated mate. Make no mistake, this is far more horror than romance. Lily, the sweet yet maddeningly loyal heroine, keeps coming back for more despite the unrelenting cruelty of Lucian, Kael, Aeron, Ciaran, and Thorne. These guys aren’t just cold, they’re full-blown sadists who thrive on her suffering. But the biggest mystery is why they seem to hate her with such burning intensity. Just when you think they’ve reached the peak of their viciousness, they dangle a flicker of hope, inviting Lily to meet them in a creepy, abandoned theater… only to humiliate her once more. But this time, something inside Lily finally shatters—not in the way they expected, but in a way that seals their fates forever. As they walk away, leaving her to die alone, the true horror begins. Reborn as Lilith, she’s not just back, she’s out for revenge and there’s no escaping her wrath. Watching her use the very bond that once tied her to them as both a source of power and a weapon was utterly chilling. I loved how she flickered in and out of their lives, haunting them, unraveling them thread by thread, until their own sanity was in tatters. There were moments of dark humor too—like the idea that you cross over wearing whatever you died in. The mental image of Ciaran stuck for eternity in pajama bottoms and Lucian… well, let’s just say he won’t have to worry about tan lines in the afterlife, had me cackling. And while there was some spice sprinkled in, the logistics of a translucent body (where you can see everything happening inside) wasn’t exactly my idea of steamy. If I had one complaint, it would be that Lily’s transformation into Lilith seemed to strip away every last trace of goodness in her, leaving just a vengeful specter. But honestly? After everything she endured, it was hard to blame her. So, in the end, the tables weren’t just turned—they were flipped, shattered, and set on fire. And I was here for every second of it.

This was a super interesting idea! It did start to lose me after the 50% mark as but I guess you can only do that for so long lol.

Like others have mentioned, I also wanted to understand the heroes' motivations better for why they rejected the heroine. Lily says things like "I just... I thought maybe we could start over," which I thought could imply she had done something to them in that past, unless she's being the supreme doormat and suggesting to her bullies that they all put the bullying behind them. Lily also thinks about other people not knowing the full story, but I wasn't sure if she was just talking about them being bonded or that there was more context that the audience didn't have.

Speaking of the bonds, that was another part that could've used some more world-building. I was a little unclear if this was an accepted part of reality in this world, or if the heroes knew she was bonded to them. They also talk about bonds between each other, but I wasn't sure if that was related to the bond they had with Lily, or if they meant more of a real-world bond, as in they were very close. There was a lot of context that we weren't given.

And finally, there were some patterns in the dialogue that got pretty repetitive, mostly when Lilith was in her cackling lunatic era. Every time one of the boys said something, Lilith would repeat one or two words of what they said, say 'oh darling,' and then have a little quip. For example:

"Stop." My voice was quiet...
"Stop?" [Lilith] echoed, tilting her head. "Oh, Lucian, darling. We're just getting started."

"She always wins. You can't fight her."
"Can't fight me?" Lilith purred, taking a step forward... "Oh darling, you couldn't fight me if you wanted to."

"Stop it," I muttered, my voice low and strained. "Not here."
"Not here? Oh, Lucian, darling, this is exactly the place."

It got super repetitive and made Lilith sound a little cringe to me. Overall though it was a pretty entertaining read!

Okay, Wraith… where do I even begin?

From the very first line—“They killed me.”—I was HOOKED. Like, toss-the-book-across-the-room-in-excitement kind of hooked. The premise? A fated mate revenge story from beyond the grave? Count me all the way in. Quinn Hawthorne takes the concept of second chances and lights it on fire… then dances in the ashes.

This book is dark. And when I say dark, I mean it dances the line between vengeance and obsession with zero apologies. We’re talking murder, betrayal, emotional torment, and the kind of deliciously twisted love story that only works in the darkest corners of romance. So yes, big trigger warning energy. Check those TWs before diving in because this one doesn’t hold back.

The FMC? Absolute powerhouse. She’s back from the dead, and she’s not here to play. There’s this simmering rage wrapped in heartbreak that makes her so compelling to follow. And the guys? Oof. Let’s just say they’ve got a lot to answer for—and watching that unfold was pure chaos and carnage (in the best way possible).

Now, here’s where it gets tricky for me: I enjoyed it. Truly. The concept, the atmosphere, the raw intensity of the story—it kept me turning pages late into the night. But there was something missing. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe I wanted more depth in certain scenes? Or a stronger emotional payoff at the end? I’m not sure. It just didn’t fully hit that “I’ll never shut up about this book” level for me… but it came pretty close.

Still, if you’re in the mood for a vengeful, morally gray, back-from-the-dead heroine and fated mates who should probably sleep with one eye open—Wraith delivers. Just bring snacks, tissues, and maybe a therapist on standby.

I needed a hot minute, after finishing this one, to collect my thoughts so I could write this review. The book was intense and hard to get through. Which is definitely not a bad thing, in this case. I am a huge fan of Quinn, and I love her writing. The only reason Wraith was a tough read, for me, is because of how intensely emotional it is.

Lilith's tale is a dark one. A slow burn read, full of love, hate, sadness, despair, longing, wrath and revenge. I shed so many tears as I followed along on her journey. Tears of rage, tears of loneliness, tears of betrayal and more. More than once I had to set my Kindle aside and take a few calming breaths to get the red hot rage I was feeling to subside. Her five fated mates are absolutely infuriating and I found myself rooting louder and harder, the further I read, for her to release her vengeance upon them.

This book took some unexpected turns and went in a vastly different direction than I was expecting it to. Which just made me love it even more. That said, it also gets VERY dark and I cannot express how important it is to thoroughly read the trigger warning and content list, before moving forward. There are very heavy tropes and topics here, including on page süicìdë, and your mental well-being comes first. If you then determine that the content won't disrupt your mental health and wellness, be sure to check out the author provided playlist to help set the mood as you curl up with your new read.

Finally, I leave you with my spice rating, a lite 3 outta 5 🌶️'s, because while there is definitely some very steamy spice, there's not a lot of it.

I hope you enjoy this emotional read as much as I did. Be sure to let me know what you thought, down below in the comments!!

Check trigger warnings!

This is the perfect female rage/female revenge story.

Lily has wanted nothing more than to be appreciated and loved by the men she's been bonded with. None of them can help the bond, but for some reason, the guys hate the fact that they're bonded to her. With a simple note from one of her men to meet at the theater, she hopes everything will finally change, and they will finally learn that Lily is worth everything. After an "accident" that leaves Lily bleeding out all by herself, she finally passes away and becomes all of their worst nightmares.

Ciaran, Lucian, Thorne, Kael, and Aeron learn very quickly that even though their bonded mate is dead, the connection will never die, and Lilith makes sure of it.

Lilith really grows into herself as the book goes on. She didn't deserve all the hate and disrespect she got. She realizes in the afterlife that she's always held all the power, and she makes good use of it. She drives the men crazy with her hauntings. She makes them anxious, depressed, withdrawn from society, and shells of themselves. One by one, they become everything they should have been to begin with.

This was a very nice and easy read. I did have loads of questions, though. Why were they bonded? Were they humans? Why did they hate Lily so much? I wanted more backstory. I wanted more details as to why Kael was the only one who *understood*. I wanted more of Thorne.

I was an ARC reader for this book.

Quinn Hawthorne’s Wraith is an intense, dark romance that pulls you in with its compelling characters and atmospheric writing. From the very first page, the story grips you, blending passion, mystery, and suspense in a way that keeps you turning pages.

One of the biggest strengths of Wraith is its character development. The protagonists are layered and flawed, making their journey feel raw and real. Hawthorne does a great job of slowly revealing their pasts, which adds emotional depth and makes their connection even more powerful. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and the tension—both romantic and otherwise—keeps things engaging throughout.

Hawthorne’s writing style is evocative and immersive, pulling you into a world that feels both dangerous and seductive. The pacing is solid, with moments of suspense that are balanced by quieter, more introspective scenes. The dialogue is sharp and believable, giving the characters distinct voices and making their interactions feel authentic.

That said, Wraith won’t be for everyone. Some of the themes are quite dark, and while they’re handled with care, they might be intense for certain readers. There are also moments where I wished for a bit more backstory or context to deepen my understanding of the characters’ motivations.

Overall, Wraith is a gripping and beautifully written dark romance that will appeal to readers who enjoy stories with emotional complexity and high stakes. Quinn Hawthorne delivers a novel that’s both haunting and compelling, making it well worth the read.

What happens when you reject fate its self? Well nothing fun that's for sure, well not for our 5 MMC any way! This book had me reeling, the FMC had me yelling and screaming my frustrations at her at first! Lily was fated to 5 men who just couldn't understand what fate was telling them, they made poor lily suffer tremendously and she couldn't help but go back for more and more until there was no more! Lily becomes Lilith, and gosh is she something! With fate on her side Lilith gets her revenge in the darkest most unhinged way possible and I loved every minute of it, I want to scream for the roof tops"goooo Lilith, get em girrrlll" she was just awesome!
Quinn took us to the dark side, and she done it marvellously, the book takes us to the other side and it was just done so well, anyone would think Quinn had been to the other side, the way she made everything make so much sense and all fit together perfectly! I loved this book everything about it is well thought out, alot of effort has gone in to this book and it's oh so worth it!
Please please please read the trigger warnings because this book is Dark dark, morally black and super unhinged, but boy was it something else!

Quinn, you smashed this one out of the park and back again, thank you for such a glorious story!

Firstly, do read the trigger warnings ⛔️ I really don’t know where to start with this one 🤪 From starting it I could tell it was going to draw me into the story with a need to know what, who, why, and really!!? It did just that and I was so there for it, hook, line and sinker!

As you may have guessed from the blurb, our FMC Lily is deleted, five guys; Lucien, Thorne, Aeron, Ciaran and Kael are all present at the time, these are her so called fated mates. Each one walks away, stretching the bond but it doesn’t break. Leaving her to take her last breath distraught and alone, thus the darkness engulfs her into seeking her vengeance upon them. Her aptitude at assessing each one and ensuring their bond remains intact by the only means she has at her disposal 😈👻

For me this book just hit a spot I didn’t know was missing, it’s not a love story as such, it is an undying love, though that makes no sense I know but I can’t make it lol The writing was great, made me feel like I was there. If you want a well paced why choose PNR with deleting this one is for you 🖤

ARC Review

I was utterly blown away by Wraith! As someone who hasn’t really delved into ghost stories before, I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. Quinn Hawthorne has crafted a tale that is both dark and unexpectedly sweet. It’s morbid, yes, but there’s an underlying tenderness that makes you root for the characters.

The story revolves around themes of revenge and fated connections, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I found myself wondering about the afterlife for these characters. Do they haunt people, or do they simply spend eternity together? I need to know!

I’ve enjoyed a few of Quinn's books, and her writing style continues to captivate me. She has a unique ability to immerse readers in her stories, making every page feel essential. I'll definitely be exploring more of her work in the future.

Just a note: (NOT my words but the authors) This book is seriously dark—so dark that even fog lights can’t pierce it. Please check the trigger warnings at the beginning if you're considering reading it; your mental health matters!

Overall, Wraith is a remarkable blend of horror and romance that left me craving more. Highly recommend!
