The Kiss Bet #2

The Kiss Bet Volume Two: A WEBTOON Unscrolled Graphic Novel

Rate this book
In this adorable coming-of-age comic for fans of This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki and Rainbow Rowell’s Pumpkinheads, Sara Lin has decided now is the time: she’s going to make her first kiss, something special and magical, happen.

It’s senior year and Sara Lin just turned eighteen. She’s got great friends, a cool dad (or so he thinks), and a whole lot ahead of her. The last thing she needs to worry about is her first kiss.

But that’s all about to change because her good pal Patrick just challenged her to a bet that will either lead to love, heartbreak, or embarrassment . . . or maybe all three. Along the way, as Sara explores her relationship options with three different boys, she discovers life isn't a fairytale and romance is inherently complex. It's messy and complicated, but boy, it sure can be fun.

In this second volume of the series, Sara Lin might have lost all her romance-related bets with her friend Patrick so far, but she’s determined to make something happen with her crush Joe at the upcoming school festival. First she has to pass her math exam, which means dealing with her tutor, Oliver, who instantly recognizes Sarah from their almost kiss at the subway. And Patrick’s not quite done, he challenges Sara to the highest-stake bet yet: kiss someone by the end of the festival or be forced to quit the newspaper club. And Sara understands that some lessons can’t be taught, and that life must be experienced.

Then Patrick challenges Sara Lin to his highest-stakes bet yet: have her first kiss by the end of the festival or quit the newspaper club.

This volume collects episodes 19 to 36 of the charming WEBTOON comic The Kiss Bet.

Not sure why, but this high school light-hearted romantic dramedy is just doing it for me. The characters are slightly drama, but they aren't OTT. The characters are fun, the will-they/won't they is also fun and not annoying and the ending was great! The artwork is good and it's a breath of fresh air escapism while reading.

4, this still has my attention and I'm ready for the next volume, stars.

My thanks to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Unscrolled for an eARC of this book to read and review.

This story and these characters are so cute! I knew Patrick was starting to like Sara, and she obviously still has lingering feelings for him, too. They would be so cute together if they would just both be honest, but I get why Sara doesn’t want to get her heart broken again by holding out hope, not since Patrick always rejected her once and they had to move past it to save their friendship. And are Patrick’s feelings real or is it just jealousy and fear he might stop being the most importantly person in Sara’s life?

I happened to see the summary for volume 3 so knew there was actually going to be a kiss in this book, but I didn’t know who it would be with. It still seemed possible it would be with Oliver, especially since they’ve gotten more real with one another, actually talking about real things, like music and the whole subway kiss bet situation. I think Oliver is starting to like Sara for real, but is that going to stand up to whatever is going on with Patrick (and whatever her feelings might be for Joe).

As for cute, popular, friendly-to-everyone Joe, I knew he liked Vicky the moment they ran into each other at the store, but I didn’t realize he’d actually liked her for a long time. Hopefully there is a chance Joe and Vicky can make things work, even though she rejected his confession, because you know Sara isn’t going to be the one to keep them apart when she knows Vicky actually does like him back. Plus, she already has Patrick and Oliver, she just has to realize it.

I was sent an ARC of the third book in this series and I had to read the other two for context. I ended up really enjoying the second volume far more than the first one. The characters were more developed, scenes were quicker, and there was another fighter in the ring for the heroine's affection. It ended on a major cliffhanger and made me eager to read the third volume. I honestly want Patrick to be endgame and I think she's wasting her time with Joe. I really hope they don't pull a fast one on me and make her pick her tutor and Joe's brother, Oliver. They don't have any chemistry and I know he likes her. This is a cute series, but I don't think I would have picked this up unprompted because I don't care for love triangles. I'm very curious to see how this love quadrilateral will play out. You can bet on it!

There’s something wonderfully nostalgic about curling up with The Kiss Bet – Volume #2. As I read through this WEBTOON collection, I couldn’t help but feel like I’d stepped straight back into the cosy comfort of those classic late 90s and early 2000s chick flicks I used to adore. You know the ones – She’s All That, Not Another Teen Movie, and all those high school rom-coms that mixed awkward crushes, friendship drama, and that fluttery feeling of first love. This volume gave me that exact same vibe, and honestly, it felt like revisiting an old favourite.

Sara Lin is now eighteen and in her final year of high school. She’s got a good group of friends, a dad who thinks he’s still the coolest guy around, and a whole future ahead of her. The only thing she hasn’t experienced yet? Her first kiss. And thanks to her friend Patrick and his relentless betting challenges, that suddenly becomes the one thing everyone seems to be focused on.

In this second volume, the stakes are higher than ever. Sara is determined to finally make something happen with her long-time crush Joe at the upcoming school festival. But life as we all know has a funny way of complicating things. Before she can even think about romance, Sara has to survive a maths exam, which means spending time with her tutor Oliver… who just so happens to recognise her from their awkward almost-kiss encounter on the subway. Talk about cringe-worthy timing!

Meanwhile Patrick, who never seems to miss a chance to stir things up, throws down his biggest bet yet: Sara has to have her first kiss by the end of the festival or she’ll be forced to quit the newspaper club. Suddenly what started as a playful challenge turns into something a lot more stressful.

What I loved most about this volume is how relatable Sara’s journey feels. The story captures that messy, confusing, sometimes embarrassing side of teenage romance so well. It’s not all fairy-tale moments and perfect kisses. Instead, it’s awkward, complicated, and occasionally downright chaotic but that’s exactly what makes it feel real. And honestly, watching Sara navigate her feelings between Joe, Oliver, and the ever-present Patrick is half the fun.

The artwork is bright, expressive, and perfectly suited to the light-hearted tone of the story. Each panel feels energetic and full of personality, making it incredibly easy to binge through episodes 19–36 in one sitting.

For me, reading The Kiss Bet Volume #2 felt like wrapping up in a cosy blanket on a rainy Tauranga afternoon with a cup of tea and indulging in a sweet, feel-good romantic comedy. If you’re a fan of high school romance stories, WEBTOON adaptations, or those nostalgic chick flick vibes, this series is definitely one to add to your reading list.

Cute, charming, and delightfully dramatic The Kiss Bet continues to prove that first love might be messy, but it sure makes for a fun story. 💋📚

High school romance fans, who love sweet moments with confusion, are going to want to grab this one up right away and enjoy.

Sara's unsure about everything. Oliver, her tutor, knows she was the one who tried to kiss him in the subway, and now, he's upset. Which isn't great. since he helped her grades, but she's got a back-up plan on the tutoring front, her best friend Patrick (who also started the kiss bet in the first place). But the tutoring session doesn't go well and her next test produces the worst score yet, so she turns to her secret crush for help...who just happens to be Oliver's older brother. Her secret crush is perfect in so many ways, and he might just be as interested in her as she is in him. But Patrick causes issues again and makes another kiss bet—she needs to kiss a guy by the end of the evening of the festival or quit her favorite club. As soon as she lets her temper get the better of her and agrees, it becomes clear that this new bet might be her doom. After all, she already lost the first one.

The blurb states that this is an adorable read, and it's right. These pages hold high school, romance drama pure with silliness and misunderstandings to make every moment unpredictable and ridiculous. Sara is super sweet and friendly but constantly blunders from one situation into the next. She's a bit clueless but determined, and it makes her easy to root for while rolling the eyes at her at the same time. Somehow, none of this is frustrating but remains funny. Plus, her good nature makes her sympathetic...even when she's misguided in other respects. The other characters appear more grounded, but are clueless in their own ways and round off each moment with accidental and unplanned blunders.

It's a very easy read without a ton of depth, but then, it is more about the humor and awkwardness than anything else. Even the romance isn't straight-forward and overly heartfelt. Rather, it's all over the place...much like Sara herself. It's very unclear, who Sara will end up with...or if she'll end up with anyone at all. And this makes it that much more fun to read.

I'm already looking forward to seeing what silliness is still to come.

Mini Book Review: Thank you SO much to Webtoon/Wattpad for the complimentary copy of this book!

This book is out now!

I read the first one last month and enjoyed it even though Sara Lin wasn't my fave. But I'd like to say I found myself enjoying this one even more and I imagine the next one will be even better. This one picks up right when the last one left off and my goodness if you like teenage love triangles (or maybe even a love square? or a poly love triangle) this one could be for you. As with most teenagers, they all have crushes on each other. And poor Sara Lin has swoony feelings on 3 young men - brothers Joe and Oliver and even a little on her best friend Patrick. In this one, we do get to see how Patrick and her became friends and how things became complicated.

One thing I love about this is that it does have a lot of that nostaglia for awkwardness and the complicated feelings on crushes and especially in this case when your best friends with the opposite sex. I find these two books have made me laugh and smile and you have people who you are rooting for. At this point I don't know who I want Sara Lin to end up with especially with how this one ends. I'm looking forward to see how the next one picks up and how Sara Lin reacts to what happened (trying to be vague).

If you are looking for a quick, easy graphic novel to binge - check out this series!

It’s senior year for Sara Lin and she’s just turned eighteen. She’s got a good life for a teenager with good friends, a dad that tries to be cooler than he is, and a whole future ahead of her. The last thing she needs to be worrying about is her first kiss. But that’s all about to change, because her good friend Patrick just challenged her to a bet that will lead to love, heartbreak, or embarrassment… or perhaps all three.

This is the second volume of the series, where Sara Lin has currently lost all her romance-related bets with her friend Patrick. But she’s determined to make it happen with her crush Joe, though she’s having odd feelings for both her best friend and Joe’s brother (who is her own age). Sara Lin makes the ultimate bet this time, to get that first kiss or quit the newspaper club that she loves so much… and do it before the end of the festival.

This volume collects episodes 19 to 36 from the original WebToons comic The Kiss Bet.

Knowing that this was going to be the continuation of Sara Lin’s high school adventures, I went into it with a lot less expectation for a deep enlightenment for the characters. There was good character growth, a lot of funny moments, and good graphics. Overall, it’s a well done comic that I’d recommend to anyone who is looking for a lighthearted, quick read.

Volume two of he webcomic The Kiss Bet.
This volume contains episodes 19 to 36.

In volume two Sara Lin is a 18 year old high school senior. Sara Lin is still struggling with her math studies and is in need of a tutor and is trying to get her grades up so she can stay in the Newspaper club.

Sara Lin might have lost the subway kiss bet with her friend Patrick, but he has made another kiss bet with her. This time with her crush Joe at the upcoming school festival. However, in order to go to the school festival, she has to pass her math exam. This means she has to , the kicker is her tutor is Oliver, who instantly recognizes Sarah from their almost kiss at the subway. The only thing that makes it even more awkward, is Oliver is Joes younger brother.

This fall fest will be even more surprises than we could see coming. Will Sara Lin get her first kiss or will she have to quit the news paper club?

You teen romance is confusing and the last few episodes of this volume will demonstrate just how confusing romance can really be.

We get more character development with our main characters and the plot really starts to thicken. The end had hoping that misunderstandings get worked out and maybe some real feelings are communicated.

I cant see what Sara Lin is in for in volume three!

YAY for Volume Two coming soon! 🩷 I've been following The Kiss Bet on WEBTOON for over a year now, and I’m so excited that Volume 2 is coming later this year! For me, this is where the story really starts to come into its own—there's more emotional depth, more character growth, and the beginnings of that signature slow burn that defines the series.

While Volumes 1 and 2 still read as a little immature on this re-read, they do a great job laying the foundation for what’s to come. You start to see hints of future storylines taking shape, and more of the charming side characters begin to shine. Their POVs and arcs play a much bigger role from this point forward, which is one of my favorite things about the series!

The art remains one of the standout elements for me. It’s bright, expressive, and full of fun little doodles that add to the charm. It’s what first pulled me into the series, and I still love it.

The Kiss Bet is the ultimate slow burn. It can definitely test your patience, but the pacing makes sense for the characters and their backstories. These early volumes are essential in establishing all of that!

Huge thanks to WEBTOON and the author, Ingrid Ochoa for the ARC of Volume 2! I can’t wait to keep reading 💕

Thank you Netgalley for an early release ARC of this volume. No seriously, THANK YOU 😭😭😭😭😭 I was so excited when I received this copy I literally screamed a cheer.

I love this series so much. I was really living for the love triangle the first volume ended on but now it's become a complex web and I am at the center of it as a helpless fly here for the ride. I am at your mercy Ingrid Ochoa 😭🙏🏻 this volume was so good, it had me squealing and kicking my feet like a lovesick teenager. The illustrations are so well done and I love the mix of classic drawing style and chibi art. Oliver got some more character development in this volume as well, it's nice to see Mr. Grumpy have a bit more personality. I was really shipping them but I've officially become a die hard fangirl for Patrick. I love my goofy king 😭❤️ Ingrid, if you're reading this... That ending was devious. I fell out of MY Chair. I need vol. 3 NOWWW!!!! 😭

Thank you again Netgalley for an early release ARC. 5/5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ vol. 2 releases August 2025. I can't wait for everyone to enjoy this as much as I did. Xoxo

As soon as I finished Volume 1 of the Kiss Bet, I NEEDED Volume 2 immediately. Thank you so much to Netgalley and WEBTOON UNSCROLLED for this E-ARC! I absolutely love love love this art style - It is sooo cute! I think this book is perfect for highschoolers. There's just enough tension to hold their attention, but nothing too inappropriate! I feel like in this volume we got to spend even more time with our side characters and getting to know their personalities.

One Sentence Summary - The second installment of the Kiss Bet raises the stakes even more, when Sara Lin and Patrick bet (again) and the consequences of said actions.

My only complaint is that The Kiss Bet volume 2 is not long enough and ends on yet another cliffhanger!! Oliver might be my favorite character! I would recommend this book to folks who love cutest, teenage love stories, people who don't mind cliffhangers, graphic novel lovers, and girlies who love several adorable male characters!

THE KISS BET Volume 2 has everything - drama, angst, sweetness, and so much cuteness!

Sara Lin is still in search of her first kiss. But she's got to navigate mean girls, math exams, and a best friend giving all the mixed signals. She's really going through it as she chases that perfect high school life.

I loved how we get introduced to the full picture of who Sara Lin is through her interactions with the large vast. How she meets Patrick. Her close friendship with cousin Vicky. A sweetly weird relationship with her dad. A very defensive reaction to math tutor Oliver. And a determination when it comes to kissing Joe Yang.

This volume makes me excited for what comes next for Sara Lin. Especially after THAT ending! It was so good even of it shocked me!!!

Thank you Netgalley and Webtoon Unscrolled for the advance digital copy to read and review.

Sara Lin is back, and mission: 'have her first kiss' is still incomplete. The Kiss Bet Volume Two brings back the young adult antics and complex boy 'friend' dynamics. She is continuing to accept kiss bets from her best friend Patrick, and as she continues to miss every deadline, she begins to question if her thoughts of a first kiss being special are worth it. I love all the boy options (Joe, Patrick, and Oliver) that inadvertently present themselves as Sara Lin is determined to check first kiss off her to-do list. Such a good story to get wrapped up in. With each volume, I swear I am rooting for my fave guy. Readers will have to pick their jaws off the floor when they get to the last few pages and bite their nails as they anxiously await for what's to come!

I can't let you lose this bet!

This story is so so fun! I was immediately invested in the continuation of Sara Lin's complicated and endlessly entertaining world. The narrative really starts to come into its own in volume two. The characters are developed more, personalities more defined and backgrounds delved into in a deeper way. The intertwining of all of the most important people in Sara Lin's world is done so effortlessly. Well, it feels seamless to us, but it does understandably stress her out! I love the subtlety in the art. It's expressive and vibrant to look at, but the microexpressions are perfect attention grabbers. With the state of that dramatic cliffhanger, I cannot wait until volume 3 releases!

Thanks to NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for the arc!

I read this story on Webtoon a while ago and I absolutely loved it!! The Kiss Bet, Vol. 2 starts off right where the last volume ended and this is really where the story starts to ramp up. There is a lot of high school drama, zany side characters, and a surprise possible like/love triangle? I truly love how each of the characters are growing and a lot of the future storylines are slowly starting to unravel. What stood out to me the most though was Ingrid Ochoa's art style. It was so bright and vibrant with a whole lot of personality!

Even though I read this several years ago the ending still shocked me! I could not stop my jaw from dropping! I really can't wait to read the next volume.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

Such another cute volume! I forgot how many miscommunications happen when you're young and how out of hand it can get which is reflected in the graphics when they turn into more simple characters throwing fits and I just love it! Its a great way for the artist to show their emotions which teens are full of. Its heartwarming and funny so go read it!

Sara Lin has found herself in another bet with Patrick and everyone seems to be confused on who likes who and are too shy to share their feelings. Sara may have made a mistake this time because if she loses she may still not be kissed but also lose the newspaper club and she still needs a tutor.

Not patiently waiting for volume 3...

In this sophomore entry, Sara Lin who has never been kissed tries to resolve the “kiss bet” issue she had with her former tutor Oliver in the previous graphic novel. Oliver being the brother of Sara’s crush Joe (and the rest of the high school class), makes it even more difficult. Sara’s BFF Patrick, with whom she had the first kiss bet, wagers another kiss bet that she must have her first kiss before the night’s end of the school festival. Sara is banking that it will be with Joe. But will it? With her nemesis and mean girl Rose, the odds are again Sara.

With lots of crushes going on between the characters, this continues to be a light-hearted romantic YA graphic novel without any over-the-top meanness, cursing or vulgarity. It is truly very sweet and cute. I love it as much as Volume One! I cannot wait until the next volume – after all it can’t be left with this cliffhanger.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy.

it just keeps getting better & better

i love this so much i waited so long for the second volume & it did not disappoint.

the art is just as incredible as i remember, i still love all the characters, & i never know what’s going to happen next. also, THE ENDING??? i wasn’t expecting that. i love both patrick & oliver. even though patrick is kind of sorting through how he feels about sara they have so much history & years or friendship BUT sara & oliver seem to have this slow burn, enemies to lovers thing going on & i’m here for it. also, honourable mention for vicky & joe because they would be such a cute couple.

i definitely can’t wait until volume 3 is out

These books are so ridiculous but they’re so cute. The thought of a first kiss, the first love, who likes who, who doesn’t, and all the tastefully ridiculous drama. It’s a type of romance novel, that’s perfect for middle grade and YA and just leaves you wanting the next volume. Sarah is completely ridiculous and very much boy crazy. Subway boy is adorable in his teen angst. Joe is the good-natured best friend that all the girls have a crush on. And Patrick is the class clown who you want to smack but sometimes maybe you want to kiss. All in all this is an ensemble group of characters That bring a ridiculous but fun story to the pages for all readers.
