The dragons are back…and destruction comes in flames. “You were a survivor when you knew your body was broken; and you are now my rider. You were found to be stronger than any dragon below, and I have waited for your rebirth, Story Dehana. Now we ride to save this world.”
When the magic on the mansion shattered—so did my heart. I became a dragon rider on the brink of death at the hands of the sun, but I won’t let any man break me again. The dynamics of the merciless world I was brought up in have changed, and just when I thought I had exposed all of the lies... one more revelation pushes me to the edge.
King Ziven is my entwined mate, and he will do anything to earn my trust back. He was once my enemy, but now he is the man who saved my life over and over—we are tethered forever.
The dragons bring with them more than fire and wings.
They bring a hope of freedom in a world just as broken as I was.
A Book of Royals and Deities is the second book in The Lost Fae Riders Series. This is a full-length fantasy, dragon-rider romance with an enemy who might become a lover, found family, the best romance tropes, and a main character who loves reading almost as much as you.
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
Book 1 started this series off strong, but book 2 fell flat for me. I was eager for book 2 to release and had high expectations. I found myself becoming more annoyed with Story as a character. I was also frustrated that the storyline progressed very little. Everything felt rushed and lacked depth. I should give this book two stars, but I’m giving it three as an overall series rating.
“Loving him is hard, messy and dangerous” excuse me- we have never even established feelings beyond her having a crush and them sleeping together while she was in heat/frenzy. Now she loves him?
The relationship with the MMC with the FMC was not fleshed out enough for her to be having these types of feelings. The author has barely touched on their relationship. You can see in the first book how the author has attempted to give them moments but she had more moments with literally every other character. So the jump to her loving him and him loving her is insane.
After a relatively strong start, it petered off to just Okay. Story despite her character growth got on my nerves with self righteousness. The other thing that let the book down in my opinion, was the confusing changes of POV at the start of some chapters with no mention of whose POV it was coming from. All in all an enjoyable read. I will be continuing with the series
After devouring the first book, I eagerly dove into this sequel with high expectations. The plot, which initially captivated me, is still compelling enough to keep me reading, but I found myself less enchanted this time around.
As a fan of the fated mates trope, I was hoping for a slow-burn romance filled with tension and emotional buildup. However, the relationship between Story and Ziven seemed to blossom too quickly, lacking the gradual development that makes such connections truly satisfying. The sudden shift to “I love you” left me craving that intense romantic journey—the kind that builds anticipation and makes you fall for the characters alongside them.
The writing itself shows promise, with some strong moments that demonstrate the author’s talent, but I feel like it’s brimming with untapped potential, falling just short of the impact of its predecessor.
The characters have enough charm and complexity to keep me engaged, and the cliffhanger ending ensures I’ll be picking up the next book. Though this installment didn’t fully deliver on the promise of the first, I’m hopeful that book three will bring the emotional punch and tension I’ve been waiting for.

I didnt think it could get better, but it did. Every declaration from Ziven, had my heart blazing and melting. Every new POV had me soaring through the dimensions. Every turn of the journal had pieces melding together, yet still left me shocked at the outcome. Friendships, love and heartbreak. You feel it all and get lost.
I only beg for two things. 1- the third installment is released now. 2- she doesn't wake as a Vamprye.
Please, please, please 🙏
Also, thank you for the quotes about dreamers and readers. They will forever live on 🖤

I'm gonna be honest ... this book may not be so bad ... but the first book was just so good, and I loved the normal, human, FMC. I loved the energy between the characters. I loved the story and plot. I loved the cliffhanger. But this second book in the series just didn't do it. The writing seemed different, the characters just kind of fell apart for me, as did the relationships. It lost its slow, burn feel that I love from "enemy to lovers" books. Idk. I'm just so disappointed because the first book was so good.
This one was better than book 1 in terms of writing for sure. I absolutely hate the miscommunication trope but I’m invested now so I’ll finish the series
Oh, A Book of Royals and Deities, where do I even start? This book is like strapping into a dragon saddle with zero training and hanging on for dear life—not because the ride is smooth, but because you have to see where the chaos lands.
First off, let’s talk about Story Dehana, our protagonist with a name as dramatic as her life. She’s a dragon rider with a broken heart, a fiery attitude, and more baggage than an airport carousel. Honestly, if surviving deadly magic and discovering your soulmate is your thing, Story’s got you covered. Her resilience is admirable, sure, but girl needs a vacation and a therapist.
Now, King Ziven. He’s the enemy-turned-lover we’ve seen before, but credit where it’s due—he does save her life a lot. That said, the whole “tethered forever” bit feels less like romance and more like a magical HR nightmare. Do they love each other? Do they hate each other? Do I care? (Answer: a little, but not enough to write their names in glitter on my notebook.)
The dragons, however, are the moment. They bring the fire, the wings, and the metaphorical hope that outshines most of the messy romance. Honestly, I’d rather hang out with these creatures than wade through some of the melodrama between Story and Ziven.
The plot twists? Chef’s kiss. Just when you think you’ve uncovered the last betrayal, another one smacks you across the face like an untrained dragon tail. It’s chaotic, it’s messy, and it’s occasionally brilliant—but it’s also exhausting.
This book is a wild blend of all the fantasy romance tropes: enemies-to-lovers, found family, a broody mate who can’t take a hint, and a heroine who keeps fighting because, well, she has no choice. It’s indulgent, dramatic, and unapologetically over the top.
So, should you read it? If you’re here for dragons, tension-filled romance, and a protagonist who somehow survives everything thrown her way, then absolutely. Just prepare to roll your eyes at least a dozen times and maybe scream into a pillow once or twice.
Rating: 4.5/5 dragons. Could it be less dramatic? Yes. Would I still read the next book? Also yes.
Since the explosive ending of A Vow of Dragons and Storms I've been excitedly awaiting the next book and A Book of Royals and Deities didn't disappoint.
Story has a new confidence and has grown a lot fiercer. I like her new spunky playful attitude. Even with everything going on Story is freer than she's ever been. Her relationship with Hattie is the sweetest. I liked Ziven this time around. He's still grumpy and intense but in the best of ways. I will admit that I had him figure out all wrong. Now Daegan I had right. Taylor Swift said it best "Darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream." Daegan is worse than I originally thought.
The plot was excellent. It's a whole new world for those trapped in the mansion. Seeing the fae adapt to everything was interesting, there were a lot of raw emotions from everyone. With this book, I finally got a clear picture of the dynasties, the deities, and the events of the past, especially through the journal entries. I think everyone was a little hard on Princess Atilia, she was strong in her own way. The best part was these little revelation bombs that Bailey kept dropping, which had me gasping every few chapters.
By the end, it was complete and utter chaos. The most jaw-dropping scene happened in the last few paragraphs, I'm still not over it. Seriously, this book has some of the best cliffhangers. I need the next book asap!
Wow… it had been a hot minute since I had read A Vow of Dragons and Storms, so it took me just a minute to remember what had happened in book 1. This book was CRAZY good though. Now that Story has broken the curse on the actual mansion and freed them (sorta) and gained her own dragon, she is stupid mad at all the Fae Kings for lying, betraying her and even attempting to kill her. She doesn’t know who to trust.
But when they discover that she didn’t break all the wards – they can get as far as Nightfall – the Sun King still believes that she will need to die to break it all down. Daegan, the Moon King, realizes that she is his entwined mate and will do anything to make her his… but when they realize she has more than 1 entwined mate, things get a little weird.
Also someone from Story’s past gets into the ward, with the help of the Ice queen and daughter, and tells Story that the Vampyres have amassed an army of their own with creatures that can fly as well and they are headed their direction. Now they have to figure out how to defeat this army, while staying away from the evil Vampyre King and Prince.
Loved it… although THAT ENDING!! Arggghhh! I hope the next book releases pretty quick, so I know what happens next!
This book was not good. Honestly, I skimmed a lot of it because I was getting so frustrated.
The relationships went from hatred to love with zero build-up. It was so unbelievable and far-fetched. In book one, Story and Ziven have one intimate scene that only happened because she went into heat when they were confined together. Besides that, the only emotions Ziven showed Story were hatred and contempt. He told her she was his enemy, a liar, and a traitor for the entire book.
However... book 2 starts off with Story broken-hearted because Ziven 'betrayed her' when he had never done even one single thing to imply he had any loyalty towards her at all. You can't be betrayed by an enemy who has only ever told you that you're their enemy.
It made me want to bang my head on the table over the sheer stupidity.
THEN Ziven says he's loved her the entire time? And she has secretly loved him too, while spending the whole of the first book thinking about how much she hated him??
Ridiculous. Improbable. Inconceivable. Too Fast!
Anyway, I wasn't impressed at all. But at the very least, I'm going to skim the next book.
The first book in this series had me up all night, reading into the wee hours of the morning to finish it. I was addicted to it! This second one...was ok. I hate to say that, but it just didn't live up to the same magic, and weight as the first. I felt as if it was more all over the place, and the FMC had more of a righteous attitude than in the first one. However, our MMC was just as delicious and wonderful as the first book, but I felt as if the author took a note out of a popular fae romance, and made Ziven withhold a lot of information from Story. However, I did enjoy watching Story's past come to light and hearing more about her and what she can bring to the future kingdoms.
I can't wait until the 3rd book comes out!
Want A: My silver-flamed daddy? An enchanted mansion? Dragons, Fae, and Vampyres? Messy politics, dynasties, rich history, and deadly trials?
As I wrote in my review of book 1, I love Story's character. She's strong willed, knows what she wants/feels and owns it. She is not ruled by her hormones, but rather her sense of justice and what's right and wrong. She never falters in that regard. I also love Ziven for his patience and unwavering devotion. The plot is well-paced, the conflicts real, and the book well-written. The cliff-hanger has me anxious for the next book to see what it means for the dynasties. The one negative comment I would make is that chapters are presented in different voices/perspectives, and I wasn't always sure who was speaking or who was being spoken to immediately.
Thank you to Booksprout and G. Bailey for allowing me to read this riveting ARC!
Not gonna lie..this one had me rolling my eyes a lot. There’s a fine line between hot, possessive book boyfriends and walking red flags… and the men in this story definitely fell into the red flag category for me. Yes, even Ziven, especially in the beginning. The constant “you are mine,” “taking what’s mine,” without giving her any choice? Yeah… not exactly swoon material. More like ick.
Also… three mates? Really? 😅 At this point, I’m wondering if the FMC needs a dating app or a spreadsheet.
And then there’s the whole scene where she watches Ziven kill Kyrell but somehow doesn’t hear their conversation, except the part about her mother? 🙄 Plot convenience was plotting hard in that moment.
Overall, the concept has potential, but i think it needed some more work.

there are not a lot of books that I highlight passages or quotes, but somehow the words in this book have grabbed me and I could not stop!
We catch up with Story Dehana and the aftermath of her near murder by the sun king. I love how Story evolves in this book, becoming stronger and more assured of herself. I absolutely love the touch her and die moments and the love declarations!
Avaluna also features and we learn more from her POV which is great because we learn more about the vampire King and Prince Emyr... so many moments that left me surprised as we uncover more and more of the Fae's History!
and then the reunion that we thought that wouldn't happen had me in tears, and then more tears thereafter! and what a cliffhanger to leave us on!!
i have just finished and dont quite have all my words.... but this gave me Fourth Wing / Throne of Glass vibes and told in such a riveting manner. loved reading this and I desperately need book 3!
In A Book of Royals and Deities, G. Bailey turns up the heat with a heart-wrenching and action-packed sequel. Story Dehana, now a dragon rider, faces new challenges as she navigates a broken world and heart.
King Ziven, once her enemy, is now her entwined mate, but earning her trust will take work. With dragons soaring and secrets unraveling, this book delivers epic romance and thrilling action in spades.
It's full of emotional twists, fierce battles, and a love story as intense as a dragon's fire. Get ready for a wild ride!
I absolutely loved the first book and I couldn’t wait to read this book and of course I absolutely loved it. At times Story was annoying but I still loved the story and characters. Story has been lied to, betrayed and now wants revenge. Story gets a surprise ally that shocks her. The war is in full force, but who will survive. The ending holy shit I need the next book soon. I need to know what will happen to Story. Great story and characters and of course I love the chemistry between Ziven and Story.
G. Bailey is a wonderful fantasy romance author. I can't get enough of this series.
Anything with fae, dragons, entwined mates, and vampires, and I'm a goner. I love escaping to a fantasy world with amazing characters who have to fight to survive, go through so much to figure out who they're supposed to become, and fight the villians.
This book does end on quite the cliffhanger. So be prepared for a wild ride. It's totally worth it.
The tale of Story and her entwined mate Ziven continues and is full of twists and turns that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. I am really enjoying this book about the dragon riders and fae and their fight for freedom from the vampires. Ending on a cliffhanger, I can't wait to read the next installment.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
She finally felt loved safe and then the monster was coming she doesn't want to leave her love but the little princess needs to be saved then I see him he comes straight for us we fall and I turn us around so I take the brunt of the fall when I wake my body aches all over I look up he has her up in the air she's sobbing i look over my Dragon is still if I'm going to die then I'm doing it not any body else
Book 2 got me in all the feels and I don’t know how I’ll wait for book 3! Story and Rivens story is beautiful but full of heartache and wow what a cliffhanger! I cant wait to find out what happens next and see what becomes of Catherine, Luna and Calax. I have a feeling something big is going to happen with Hettie as well.
A Book of Royals and Deities, book two of the Lost Fae Riders series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Book two starts where A Vow of Dragons and Storms left off…that crazy ending had left me eager to find out what happened to Story next. Great continuation of the plot and I like the character development. A good series so far.
DNF @30% The book was fine… The characters didn’t have much depth. I didn’t like that they fell in love with each other so quick. I realllyyyy don’t like when the bad guy rolls over so quickly and becomes a love sick puppy. There was a lot of potential here but everything was so obvious that it just wasn’t very fun.
Ughhhh welppp.. its definitely not how i wanted it to go. Ummmm the character development from first to second book is NON EXISTENT also the timeline is absolutely trash. How does 6 months pass in a blink of an eye??? Ugh and not only that but fmc is so in the delulu she is stu stu. Im not sure if im going to continue reading. If i do welp i might edit this to say if i did.
I’m sorry but the this book is hard to read. I feel as those the main characters have no chemistry. I felt weird in the first book but I tried to give it a shot and I’m 50% of the way and I feel like it forced. Also we’re taking too long to get to the point but then the book is missing a lot too. I don’t think I can finish reading this.
Dnf at 58% idk this story was just boring? I no longer care about the characters, everyone has just fell into their neat and tidy archetype boxes and I don’t see anything changing. There’s also zero chemistry between our two main characters, it’s almost like we’re told they are perfect for each other and just need to believe it, but the author didn’t actually make them compatible??
