The wolves return in the highly anticipated conclusion to the Bad Wolf Chronicles by Tim McGregor.
Detective turned fugitive Lara Mendes struggles to contain the monster inside her heart as she builds a new life for herself in New Mexico. Meanwhile in Portland, Amy Gallagher is left traumatized after witnessing the horror that took her father’s life. Alerted to a series of wolf attacks, Amy realizes that the nightmare is far from over.
Returning to the primordial forest where they last encountered the creatures, Lara and Amy track down a rogue wolf running loose on a killing spree. What they uncover is a mysterious community that harbors a dark secret to the curse that has devastated both of their lives.
This final book was perhaps the least favourite of the three (hey, there's gotta be a favourite and a least favourite, huh?) but it was by no means a disappointment.
To be honest, I thought it was going to be. There was a set up from the first novel that McGregor very cleanly, and very sharply smashed to bits at the end and I was extremely happy he did. I won't blow it, because that set up comes back again in this novel, and I was rather disappointed. I felt like McGregor was backing out of a particular plot point (Okay, I will say it involves ending the werewolf curse).
But I have to say that, while he twisted back again, McGregor is a talented enough author that he got me to freaking buy into the twist back...and not just buy into it, but enjoy it.
This is a fantastic series about a difficult subject. There's a lot of werewolf stories, but there's really only a handful of good ones. This trilogy is among the very best.
5 solid stars for an incredible finish to an awesome trilogy!
Wow! What a great book, what a great series! If you had told me after the first 50 pages of the first book that this is where we'd end up - tough cop that doesn't like to play by the rules breakin' in a new partner, oh yeah man, I can dig it! - I'd have laughed in your face! But what a great surprise! And I even wrote in my review of Book 2 that I just KNEW where this tale was heading.... man oh man oh man, was I wrong! Who'd a thunk any of this?
Seriously, if you all the feelz and tons of action, 'The Bad Wolf Chronicles' is for you! McGregor has woven an incredible trilogy that has so much to offer any fans of the genre! And every character we've met before grows like no one could have seen coming! And the new folks just add to the well-rounded and sympathetic (or easily hated) roster of players that have come and gone before! A series that will go down in my top reviews alongside the great 'Monster Hunters International' series (especially Book 3) or even the twisting and turning plot of Sir Terry Pratchett's 'The Fifth Elephant'!
I can only end my review with these words: READ THESE BOOKS!
Can you top book two... This certainly gave it a good go. The story was great, not as much humor in this one as it was very serious, tension high and the horror factor aplenty. Lara and amy have some unfinished business in the woods of Alaska and the lycan is on a killing spree. Real page turner with good characters and dialogue. The horror and violence was off the charts but integral to the story. Have to be honest I'm not a fan of werewolves, they scare the pants off me but I thought I'd be brave and give it a go. It was sad about John and I felt really sorry for Lara, falling in love and having it ripped away. I do think that this story ended far too soon, I would have liked to have seen the community rebuilding and amy and laras friendship moving forward and amy and silas. It was a cracking read. Loved it. Thanks Tim!
Fantastic conclusion to the "Wolf" trilogy. An absolute page turner that kept you riveted & cheering for the heroine to win. Wonderfully fleshed out characters to love & loathe, and an impossibly mournful ending to the series. All loose ends tied up but wiggle space left for a return perhaps. Only complaint is the need to proofread again - lots of missing words & typos.
In the final story of this series Lora and Amy return to the scene of the last battle when stories of animal attacks show up. They run into a a band of paranormal investigators that complicates thing even more.
I actually lke this book much better than the other 2. If was full of action and some surprising turns.
This series kept bringing me back with each book. I wish the wolf didn’t die but remained in Laura and somehow In Amy. A fourth book would be welcomed with Laura and Amy having control of their wolves and protecting the village.
✨ "The evil of fairy tales existed and monsters really did stalk travelers on lonely roads."✨
As a person who almost always abandoned series in the middle, this was a miracle! Like in my whole reader's life, I've only completed two series before this. But I completed this one in a week. Which's definitely a big achievement for me.
Coming towards the series itself, I found book 1 and book 2 more intriguing, faster, and believable. Tho this (the 3rd book) felt a bit out of track. It might be because of genre transition from paranormal crime thriller to sort of fantasy mystery, for which I wasn't ready.
The pace was a bit slow and storyline was dragged at some point. But yet the action-packed scenes, twists and intriguing characters made up for it.
As a series, I would definitely recommend Bad Wolf Chronicles! If you’re looking for a short, fast-paced, addicting series with amazing storyline and characters, go for it! A big 5 star (for the series) (But do look for TWs before starting this, your mental health matter more than entertainment)

I loved these books. Every minute kept me in suspense. I couldn't put these books down. Each title was thrilling. I love how the book ended didn't guess how it would end. Loved every minute of it. I saved it to my collection. Would love to buy the real books to read in the coming years. Also for my adult grandchildren.
Great addition to the series. If I knew the author personally, I would be bugging him mercilessly for One More Wolf. There is definitely more to this story. More Amy, Silas, Lara and the Paranormal Trackers. And more of John and Nameless Dog for that matter. Well done Tim McGregor!
Sadly that's the last book of the series finished and its been brilliant. Great characters and good writing made for an even better story, so I guess you'll want to know it all ended? To bad, I never kiss and tell but I will recommend reading it. A big gory 5 stars.
Very interesting book series. The author brought the characters to life in a very thoughtful way. Story line held my interest throughout. Just enough supernatural without getting creepy!
Could wait to start book 3 but now I'm sad it's done . I'll miss these characters John , Lara and Amy sooo much . If you buy 1 make sure you read all 3 they are great .
this series was just the The Incredible Hulk with a slight variation instead of a 7 foot tall raging machine hidden away inside small demure scientist you have a werewolf hidden away inside a small woman who can't afford to lose her temper or feel real emotions the only thing missing was the sad song for when she has to leave town before the authorities come and investigate. the only character I felt any emotion for was Amy she was falling into the same predicament as her father. The worst part were the villagers it's I could picture the Bishop being a fire and brim stone preacher from the Wolfman movie and the Disney ending come on that's now how a werewolf story end there are no happy endings it's blood in blood out plan and simple just disappointed. It was a complete let down
I gave this book 5 stars because the trilogy as a whole was excellent, the first book, Bad Wolf started off as a regular detective mystery, then it was horror, the second book, Pale Wolf brought a tear to my eye and this one I almost finished in one sitting, I had to get to the end. Loved it.
The first book drew me in and then I had to find out how it all ended. I kept hoping for a different ending but alas I didn't get my ending. One part that has to get a con from me is, I believe it was in book two. One of the wolves had eaten an animal. The only thing left was the hooves. It went on to say they didn't know if it was a horse or Bovine? This drives me nuts. Everyone knows they have two totally different kinds of hoofs.
However, I was really disappointed with the proofreading job that was done . There were many spots where words were doubled up or words were missing, which made it very distracting . I would be happy to proofread your books for you for free, just let me know. pennyjmc@yahoo.com
I loved the characters but hated to see her father die. I loved how they kept in stuff and believed in each other. I love strong woman characters and werewolves. Keep up the good work!!!!!
