He is the son of Jean Dorothy (Logan) and Jack Nicole, a police officer, both Scottish. He studied at Queen's College in Guyana and at Harrison College in Barbados. He was a fellow at the Canadian Bankers Association and a clerk for the Royal Bank of Canada in Georgetown and Nassau from 1947 to 1956. In 1957, he moved to Guernsey, Channel Islands, United Kingdom, where he currently lives, but he also has a domicile in Spain.
On 31 March 1951, he married his first wife, Jean Regina Amelia Barnett, with whom he had two sons, Bruce and Jack, and two daughters, Julie and Ursula, they divorced. On 8 May 1982 he married for the second time with fellow writer Diana Bachmann.
As a romantic and passionate of history, Nicole has been published since 1957, when he published a book about West Indian Cricket. He published his first novel in 1959 with his first stories set in his native Caribbean. Later he wrote many historical novels set mostly in tumultuous periods like World War I, World War II and the Cold War, and depict places in Europe, Asia and Africa. He also wrote classic romance novels. He specialized in Series and Sagas, and continues to write into the 21st century with no intention of retiring.
He signs his books as Christopher Nicole and uses several pseudonyms, some of them female. Pseudonyms used include: Peter Grange, Andrew York, Robin Cade, Mark Logan, Christina Nicholson, Alison York, Leslie Arlen, Robin Nicholson, C. R. Nicholson, Daniel Adams, Simon McKay, Caroline Gray and Alan Savage. He wrote disaster thrillers in collaboration with his wife, Diana Bachmann, under the penname Max Marlow. Under his different pseudonyms he has worked with many publishing houses: Jarrolds, Hutchinson, Simon & Schuster, Coward-McCann & Geoghegan, Jove, Michael Joseph, Mills & Boon, and Severn House.

Outstanding historical novel
Very war oriented but so much family for 3 generations wonderfully entertwined. The whole series will not let you put it down until finished.

I think that one can write a steamy romantic novel or one can pen a stirring military fiction novel; either course can be read with pleasure. However, comma, attempting a mash-up like this one seems a bit, shall we say, mis-guided. Too much emphasis on sex and infidelity, confused self-images and lack of logical thought, and too little on actual military history. The factual events portrayed seem at least semi-accurate, can't speak for all the rest of the emotive content. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

Above par historical fiction
A wonderful, Interesting,
exciting, action packed, complicated but easy to read adventure. You can't help but to like the characters on all sides of the conflicts. Of course there are some you will hate.
I love historical naval fiction, and I always like to find errors. I can't fault his history but he made a few mistakes. Dolittle's B 25's on his Tokyo air raid did not have 4 engines and there was just a few more minor ones.

A great start but,
I had to force myself to finish this rather epic marathon of a novel. The first half of the saga was absolutely brilliant and so very difficult to put down, however........The second and subsequent parts turned from an action packed naval adventure at it's finest into a Mills and Boon who shagged who. 5 stars for Naval part and 2 stars for the M&B romance part. 5 mins 2 = 3(stars)

Great Reading
A great read historic, human tragedy and compassion. History retold through the eyes of others. It was not a one sided story so Hopefully everyone who reads it will enjoy as much as me. It's a bit slow at the start but soon it bevomes un put down able.

An excellent story taking us through 5 generations of the Dawson family, and very cleverly threading it through the 1st and 2nd world wars. Gripping reading and full of surprises.

good read
A rattling good yarn slow too start but exciting plots with historical moments brought to life. Brings to life the attitude of the Japanese to life and duty.

Exceptional saga of human relationships
Well done! A wonderful series, detailing human emotions, human frailty, racism, duty, honor, and insight to both gender's insecurities. Not many books match Chistopher Nicole in keeping it all together.
