"Because he became my breath. In that moment, he became my oxygen."
Once I had this book, I quickly read it despite being busy. There is a mafia guy, Lorenzo, who is at war with Russians after they stole his family's rare diamonds. Our girl wants to be a surgeon but can not continue her education because of financial reasons, and she is an orphan.
Simple. Right?
Nope.
Reckless Games differs from many mafia books I've read because of the intense/ strong portrayal of both characters. Despite having a rough background, broken dreams, and false hope, Angelo grows up to be a strong woman, powerful and meant to be Loernzo's Queen. She is a beauty only to admire from afar, and he is the ruthless King whose eyes you can not meet. Lorenzo and Angela are the perfect pieces in their missing puzzles.
One night after his father passed away, Lorenzo finds himself at war with his uncle, where he gets injured and meets Angela. She saves his life by getting him admitted to a hospital. Since year, Lorenzo kept an eye on her and her whereabouts. At the same time, Angelo knew nothing except his eye color and names. They both yearned for each other until they met again after one eventful event. Because of an expected fire in her apartment, she has no choice but to stay with Lorenzo. They become closer, falling in love. After an attack on his mansion by a Russian Mafia leader, they come to Sicily. He proposes to her with one of the ninth rare diamond pieces stolen from his family by the Russians. One night, she gets kidnapped, and it turns out she is a mole planted by the Russians.
Everything about this book was calm and needed for me.
