She's desperate to save her dream of owning her own gallery. Her ex is eager to help...as long as she agrees to one little thing.
Marriage.
Harmony Patton has worked for years to be in a position to buy out the art gallery she works at. She dreams of opening it up to local artists and maybe one day including her own pieces of photography, until one word from her boss ruins everything.
Now she's scrambling to pick up the pieces of her dreams while figuring out what to do with her life...until her ex offers her the chance of a lifetime and Harmony isn't sure she's in a position to say no.
Tripp Hoffman has spent all his time since dental school, traveling the world and giving back to those less fortunate. It's been a good life, but he's worn and tired and struggling to find the motivation to keep going. It isn't until his father becomes ill that Tripp realizes he has a new direction, one that gives him purpose, but also helps his parents.
Only Tripp's dad isn't so willing to step down from his position at the dental office, and certainly isn't willing to give it to his flighty son, no matter how sick he is.
When Tripp runs into his first love, the woman he never quite got over, a plan begins to form. It's a great plan. One that helps him and Harmony...the only problem is, she'll have to marry him to make it work.
Their individual dreams broke them up years ago...can a change in direction bring them back together?
You won't want to miss this sweet, fake-marriage, romance by USA Today Bestselling author, Laura Ann. If you enjoy second chances, small town romance, wounded heroes and strong heroines, then you'll ADORE the "Shops on Main" series. These interconnected standalones can be read in any order, but I recommend starting at #1 to avoid small spoilers. The Busiest Shop on Main The Friendliest Shop on Main The Quietest Shop on Main The Fanciest Shop on Main
I have read a few in this series, and they are all very different. This one is probably my favorite so far. I love a good fake relationship turned real story, and this one has a few interesting twists.
If you have read other books in this series, you know this small-town read centers around business owners and their “neighborhood watch” group. This is Tripp and Harmony’s story. They were HS sweethearts when they split so that Tripp could pursue his dream of traveling the world and helping others by providing dentistry. When his father has medical problems that prevent him from continuing his practice, he finally comes home. What he doesn’t necessarily expect is for his father to outright refuse to let him take over or even help with the practice, and it causes a lot of tension. Enter Harmony. She is crushed to find out the art gallery on Main where she works is being sol and she desperately wants to buy it herself. When Tripp runs into Harmony again, all his old feelings return, and he gets the bright idea to ask her to marry him so his father will believe he intends to stay in town. What he doesn’t anticipate is how much hurt his leaving caused, and this bright idea doesn’t go exactly as planned.
I was fortunate to receive an Advance Listener copy of this one, and Kate Tager and Ryan Dunlap did a fantastic job bringing Harmony and Tripp to life. Ryan did a particularly great job with the scenes between Tripp and his father, which are full of conflict. The narration brings just the right amount of emotion to this story.
If you want a story with a lot of small-town charm, warm fuzzies, an amazing friend group, and just the right amount of angst on the way to an HEA, this one is worth a read.
🎨💍 A second chance, a fake marriage, and a dream worth fighting for. 💍🎨
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) Spice-meter: 🌶️☆☆☆☆ (1/5) Audiobook: 🎧 Dual Series: Shops on Main, Book 4 (interconnected standalone) HEA: Yes
The Fanciest Shop on Main continues the cozy, heartfelt charm of the Shops on Main series. This installment focuses on second chances, rebuilding dreams, and discovering that sometimes the life you thought you lost might still be waiting for you just in a slightly different shape.
Like the other books in the series, it works perfectly as an interconnected standalone, but longtime readers will enjoy revisiting the familiar small-town atmosphere and community that ties the stories together.
This series honestly keeps getting stronger with each new book, and I continue to appreciate the warm, comforting tone Laura Ann brings to these romances.
The Story
Harmony Patton has spent years working toward one goal: owning the art gallery where she works. She dreams of supporting local artists and eventually displaying her own photography there. But when her boss suddenly shatters that dream, Harmony is left scrambling to figure out what comes next.
Enter Tripp Hoffman, her first love and the man she never quite managed to forget.
After years of traveling the world as a dentist providing care to those in need, Tripp returns home exhausted and searching for a new direction. When his father’s illness forces him to reconsider the future of the family dental practice, Tripp sees an opportunity to help both his family and Harmony at the same time.
The catch?
They’ll need to get married.
Their relationship ended years ago when their dreams pulled them in different directions. Now, with a fake marriage that benefits them both, old feelings start resurfacing and the question becomes whether the life they once imagined together might still be possible.
The romance leans heavily into emotional sincerity rather than drama. It’s about healing old wounds, rediscovering connection, and realizing that sometimes love deserves a second chance.

Final Thoughts
The Fanciest Shop on Main is another warm, comforting entry in the series. It focuses on emotional healing and rediscovering love rather than dramatic twists or high tension, which fits perfectly with the cozy tone of the Shops on Main world.
While it remains a very gentle, low-spice romance, it delivers a sweet story about second chances, new beginnings, and finding your way back to the person who once held your heart.
A soft, easy listen for readers who enjoy small-town romance filled with warmth, sincerity, and a hopeful happily-ever-after.
A second chance wrapped in a promise neither of them expected to keep.”
The Fanciest Shop on Main by Laura Ann is a sweet, small-town, fake-marriage romance about rebuilding dreams and rediscovering first love.
Harmony and Tripp’s journey is tender and heartfelt, with a strong focus on growth, family, and finding new direction. The second-chance dynamic is gentle and sincere, and the small-town atmosphere adds a cozy charm.
For me, it felt like a true vanilla strawberry romance—soft, wholesome, and quite sweet. A little too sugary for my personal taste, as I usually gravitate toward more intensity and edge. That said, readers who love comforting, low-angst, feel-good romances will absolutely enjoy this one
The narrators delivered a warm and steady performance, capturing the emotional sincerity of the characters beautifully. Their voices complemented the tone of the story well and made for an easy, pleasant listening experience.
These stories really have your head just shouting at the rooftops. I have loved them all as we keep going in this series.
Very cute, very romancey, no spice so you can share the story with your younger reader ;) all while exploring some heartache and headache 😂
Who knew traveling for your dream would come to bite you in the butt?! For Tripp though that's exactly what happened, while he thought he was saving the world he didn't realize who he left behind when he left it to begin with ... Until a family emergency just happens to happen and an unexpected marriage with a lost love comes into play
Harmony the one who stayed behind to let the love of her life live his dream all while trying to live hers as well ... Art was her everything to the way she dressed, to the gallery she worked in ... Marriage of convenience or is it just something that was always supposed to happen ...
He wanted to help the world. She just wanted him. A sweet second chance story. Ten years ago, Tripp had left Harmony to travel to under developed areas of the world as a dentist. Harmony moved on working in an art gallery with the dream of one day having her own gallery. Now ten years later her boss is ready to sell but she doesn’t readily have the means to purchase it. As she sits staring at the ocean, Tripp suddenly appears and suggests that they get engaged. He had returned home to find his father ill. His plan is to become engaged and use that as leverage to get his father to retire as the doctor wants. In return he will give Harmony money to help with the purchase. But a sudden heart attack, announcement of a marriage, inability to get financing, and fears both hold onto, will their romance have any chance at all? I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
The Fanciest Shop on Main is a heartfelt second-chance, marriage of convenience small-town romance filled with emotion, family conflict, and big dreams. Harmony has always wanted to open her own art gallery, but when the chance finally comes, the obstacles feel impossible to overcome. When her high school sweetheart Tripp returns home due to his father’s failing health, he proposes a solution that could solve both of their problems but taking that chance means revisiting a past they never truly let go of. Laura Ann created such a heartfelt and relatable story. The narration elevated the entire experience. Kelli Tager perfectly captured Harmony’s emotion and strength, while Ryan Lee Dunlap brought Tripp to life with vulnerability, patience, and an all-in romantic heart. Highly recommend this one for fans of small-town romance.

High school sweethearts break up only to find each other again. (Queue the sigh here.) Who doesn’t love a second chance? I’ve grown so fond of this series, I want to relocate to the Oregon coast! As a dark romance girlie, I’ve loved the change up you get from The Shops on Main. Brings you out of a book slump. Makes you feel good and all characters feel like long time friends. Thank you to BlueNose Audio for the ALC and I am leaving this review voluntarily Enjoy the performances and stay for the story. The narration is perfect, even if some are new to me narrators. I look forward to hearing them again. Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Narration: 🎙️ 🎙️🎙️🎙️
The Fanciest Shop on Main is a second chance romance for high school sweethearts., Harmony and Tripp. They took their own routes in life and reconnected again after Tripp returns home and his Dad becomes sick. They both agree to a marriage of convenience and quickly realize the love they had never really left. Their story is so sweet. Tripp and Harmony display compasion and tenderness. They show up for each other and for their dreams.
Audio: Kelli Tager and Ryan Lee Dunlap perform a dual narration that brings out the warmth, and calming tone that encompasses Tripp and Harmony Kelli brings out Harmony's quiet yet detemined side. Ryan gives Tripp his calming presence but also his emotional side when it comes to his parents. They were both wonderful at highlighting the overall feeling of this story.
Harmony and Tripp make you believe in second chance romances. I felt the real feelings between Tripp and Harmony. They are good together. I like how supportive Tripp was towards Harmony. It was like this time around he could appreciate things and Harmony. She is good for him as well.
This is the first book I have read or in my case listened to in this series. No need to have read the prior books as books can be read as stand alones. This book is a fun, cozy romance read. Narrators, Kelli Tager and Ryan Lee Dunlap both voice the audiobook amazingly!
Continuing my love for this series, I like that this one is a bit different - the loss is different from the other books! Instead of a break in or attack like the last 3, her loss comes at the cost of the shop she thought she would own - to another buyer and the doubt that shes not good enough to take it over! There is a "the one that got away second chance* theme in this story that just takes your breath away! I was rooting for Harmony the whole book - I love her story, her friends, the tension and her hea!!!
I love this small town series. The community is filled with wonderful characters who support one another as best they can. Harmony and Tripp were high school sweethearts and then Tripp left to be a dentist in third world countries to help others. When he returns home for a visit and his father has a heart attach, he comes up with a marriage of convenience with Harper and they both get something different than what they had planned. I'm excited to read Pearl's romance!
Tripp and Harmony reunite after years spent apart. A marriage of convenience to help both of them and Tripp’s Dad, who doesn’t trust Tripp, ends up very different than either of them could have imagined. A very HEA ending. I completely enjoyed reading this story and highly recommend it. I received a copy of the book for free and this is my own opinion about it.
I loved Tripp and Harmony together. I really liked the history that had. They knew each other really well even after 10 years. I also liked how even though they were very different from each other they complemented each other and brought out the best in the other person. This is a sweet, heartwarming romance.
Harmony stayed in her small Oregon coastal town selling art. Her high school boyfriend, Tripp, broke her heart when he left to follow his dreams of traveling and dental work. Now, years later, he’s back, disillusioned by his travels and work. Harmony was on the cusp of obtaining her dream went that bubble burst. Tripp offers her marriage so they both can forge new paths.
Harmony and Tripp were high school sweethearts that moved in different directions. Fate stepped in and brought them back together to try to give them everything they truly wanted.
Harmony and Tripp have a different perspective on how things ended between them. While a romance their story is also about finding out the truth regarding more than one relationship as well as finally seeing their own worth. Loved them as individuals and as a couple. This has been such a good series and. The author does such an amazing job of making me feel a part of their town and group of friends. Left me smiling.
This the 4th book of the Shops on Main series by Laura Ann, while each book follows a different couple there is a connected storyline throughout the series. Kelli Tager voices Harmony and Ryan Lee Dunlap voices Tripp, both did an amazing job bringing the story to life! Their story was super sweet. If you’re looking for a clean no spice sweet romance give this one a try!
