Damien’s still stuck pretending to be Levi—an untalented mage with way more enemies than friends.
He’s got all of Levi’s messes to clean up, from strained relationships to Sylvia, a fellow first-year student who isn’t shy about her disdain. And suspicion.
To make matters worse, Damien is plagued by strange visions that offer unsettling glimpses of the future, making his attempts to survive even more complicated. The real nightmare, however, comes from his latest a chilling sight of himself and several students lying dead in the infirmary.
With time running out, he has to figure out how to stop this dark future from coming true while dealing with Levi’s tangled past and the secrets that could blow everything wide open.
Really loving this series. Adventure intrigue and relationships with magic.
This really is an excellent series. Im especially enjoying the depth of the characters, their fears, motivations and hopes. The structure of the mystic world building, or magic theory is coherent and logical.
The storyline is advancing wonderfully as the MC works to develop a synergistic combination of the mystic energies: mana, essence and aura. His personality and physical attributes as well as his aura are attracting a number of women. Jane, Daphne, Sylvia, Ruth, Iris and lets not forget Lord Amon’s daughter Clyse. Yet the story isn’t devolving into excuses to write lit-porn. Thankfully so. This is also attracting the unwanted attention of the prince, Andrew Ragnar who sold his soul.
Let’s not also forget Lord Amon of Umbara’s machinations and how they will intersect with the MC as well as Cylora in the future. I see lots of interesting potential for the future storylines here and look forward to reading them.
Still, I highly recommend better cover art. Though this one at least fits into the story, it does nothing to stand out and attract new readers.
I managed to finish this book, but unfortunately, it went as to my low expectations and I was bored quite a bit.
Too much was predictable. The MC having sex with a teacher, which for some reason is a staple of any academy series. Women falling in love with the MC for no particular reason, which includes another girl deciding he's her soul mate without having ever spoken to him. The whole "sex with a maid" thing continuing as if it's a real relationship. Everyone forgiving his previous personality's behavior because he's "just so beautiful and now even more amazing because he's nice" thing. The MC playing mind games with the various LIs.
I went into this second book with low expectations after the first one, and it managed to go below that. I don't like the MC, I don't enjoy the setting, and things are just way too easy for him. He's well on his way to being the most special person to ever exist, and that always bores me to tears.
I like the principle and most* of the writing. But it needs revisions and a proofreader. I also dont particularly like when it transitions from hardened assassin, as most of the book is written from, to preteen hype. Example being the leaping/ jumping section. I was just like "??? Whats going on here?"
This book was a lot of fun. That is, until you reach the ending. I don't know if the ending is a true cliffhanger, but it is unsatisfying, to say the least. It's worth the read, but the ending might annoy people.
Just one little oops. As the MC is buying a stallion (per the narrative) the seller say's "SHE will serve you well". My caps on the gender of the horse.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series are definitely worth checking out.
Another decent book in the series. The MC really starts figuring out his groove between this and the next book. The relationships grow organically and he starts connecting to others in his circle fairly well.
Yet another main character who’s good at everything and a stud to boot. A lot of this book is given to descriptions of girls falling in love with him, which gets a bit tiresome. Are they just going to follow him around like baby ducklings, all 25 of them? I preferred the first one.
There are a lot of positives going for this series. So much I won't even mention the negatives. :)
My favorite part is the MC acts like a man, not a modern-day body type-A person. He actually tells a woman to smile, and later has sex with only implicit consent, not six paragraphs of verbal "checking in" to make sure it is what she really, really truly wants.
