By Leigh Morgan

Thank you to @leigh_morgan_author and @inkspireservices for sending me an early e-copy of this book.

This story was truly heartbreaking, although it does have a very happy and unexpected end. I felt so sorry for Ella after losing her husband and unborn daughter in a terrible car accident. All she wanted was a new beginning for her and her son. Her story was an emotional one and you can truly feel her pain as she navigates through loss and grief.

Cillian’s story was also a tragic one. After he was killed in a hit and run, his soul was sort of “trapped” in the house he lived in, where Ella now lives with her son.

There was a real connection between these two from the very start. I’ve never read a paranormal romance where one character is a ghost so to speak. I think Ella was drawn to that house for a reason and Cillian truly taught her that it is okay to move on and find love and happiness again even if it doesn’t seem right.

I loved the dual POV in this book and being able to read both characters stories. The writing in this was beautiful and will definitely have you feeling emotional.

After the death of her husband and unborn child, Ella and her son, Rone, move to Tennessee for a fresh start....by moving into a haunted house. Cillian, the former owner, is in the between, dead, but not moved on yet, along with twins, have been working for the past decade to try to figure out how to move on. Are Ella and Rone the keys to help them finally get closure on Earth, or is something more sinister going on?

I was super excited to read this arc, especially with the premise of the story. When I started, I was like...okay, well, if Ella helps Cillian get closure, they don't end up together...No spoilers, but there is an HEA! I really enjoyed this story! Ella and Cillian's plots and lives were so interconnected and their relationship really flourished as the story progressed. There were a number of plots that tied together intertwined and I think Leigh did a good job at connecting them, though there were a few plotholes that felt a little unfinished or rushed.

All, in all, a really great debut! I cannot wait to see what Leigh does next. Thank you to Leigh and Inspkire PR for the eARC!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is one of my FAVORITE paranormal romances that I’ve ever read!!! I was immediately drawn into the story from the very beginning and loved getting to know these characters!

Ella moves Tennessee with her son, Rone, to what they would consider their dream house. Only problem? Ella starts hearing whispers in the wind upon arriving even though nobody is there. 🤭

Enter Cillian! A man who met his untimely death years ago and has been stuck between worlds watching the days go by. 💔

I absolutely loved this read and thought it had the perfect combination of family, magic, spice and emotion! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🩹 this story was so well done and I’m actually blown away that this is a DEBUT author!!!

Thank you so much to Inkspire PR and Leigh Morgan for providing me with this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review! I can’t wait to read more from Leigh Morgan!

This broke my heart, I found myself sobbing multiple times reading this but it also put all my shattered pieces back together. There was so much pain and loss, but also understanding and thankfully peace. I got so lost in this book, it was so easy to read, had unique characters, a bit of suspense, and a gripping plot. I’m so sad to have finished this, I have to buy the physical copy of this once it's released, I really want to reread and annotate this.

I enjoyed joining Ella, our MFC, Ron her son, Cillian, our MMC, and can't forget Jane and Emma on this journey. I definitely recommend you join them as well!

What a great debut!

This book follows Ella who moves to a small town in Tennessee. She just lost her husband and unborn baby in a car accident. And together with her young son she has to start over somewhere new. She finds this amazing new house, but as soon as she enters the property she feels like she is not alone.

The house and surrounding lands are haunted by multiple spirits. Young twins who were murdered decades ago, but also Cillian who died in an accident. They all have their own reason to not move on. The twins try to scare Ella and her son out of the house, even though Cillian first agrees with the twins to help them, he somehow can't stay away from Ella.

At first Ella can feel the kindred spirit, but the longer the story continues the more 'real' Cillian gets.
This is an unconventional love story, but definitely one that grew on me! If you like paranormal romance with a single mom and ghost MMC who try to solve the mystery around the twin's murder then this book is for you!

I received an ARC of this novel to read and review the following opinion is my own:

Promise is a spicy(🌶🌶🌶) paranormal romance. I rate books 90% based on emotion, and this story had me with all the feelings. Ella's story broke me and put me back together again. The story was fast-paced and drew me in from page 1. I couldn't help but love all the characters, supporting characters included. The story was original, emotional, and fun to read. Highly recommend!

There's a good hook to this story but I felt disconnected at times with the FMC most of all and the world of the ghosts. There's a side plot with some not-so-nice ghosts that fell a bit flat for me and I just felt the stronger focus should've been on our couple and how they navigate feelings growing stronger between them.

Sometimes I found Ella's reactions a bit too strongly reactionary. In one moment they have intense scenes then the next she doesnt want anything to do with him, and I dont understand her big hesitation with her waffling feelings.

Cillian communicates so well his kind intentions and his affections but I feel like that's not enough for her still (when it should be , because he's so loving) I felt so badly for Cillian...like he was sacrificing his feelings even more than they already had been. At a certain point I wondered why he fought for her so much.

I found the "rules" of being a ghost overall, of him being able to touch her and how she's not able to feel him etc, confusing as well, a bit unclear too.

Cillian is the strongest part of the story, no doubt. I liked the idea, more so the beginning of the story, but then it kinda got away from me connecting deeper as it went along.

I finished it in one sitting because I could not put it down! I cannot believe this is Leigh’s debut novel! Her writing is absolutely captivating and the book as a whole had me hooked the entire time. I giggled and kicked my feet like a school girl, I blushed (the BEST kind of spice can be found in this novel), and I cried. The characters had me absolutely charmed. I’m so excited to see more from this author!!!

I received an ARC copy of this book and unfortunately, I had to *soft* DnF it. I can’t provide a rating for a book that I couldn’t get into and/or finish - it is absolutely NOT the author’s fault. Im very much a mood reader and can’t always read the books that I want to read when I want to read them. I’m going to try to read this book again in the future because I think the premise sounds very promising and the ratings so far are amazing.

I met Leigh Morgan through my writer’s group, and when she began sharing bits and pieces of her debut paranormal love story, Promise, my curiosity was immediately piqued.

The story centers around Ella, a single mom still reeling from the loss of her husband. Hoping to heal and start fresh, she moves to a small town and buys a gorgeous, fully remodeled farmhouse. Enter Cillian, the charming architect who not only designed the remodel—but also grew up in that very house. From the moment they meet, sparks fly and the chemistry is instant. Sounds too good to be true? Well… it kind of is.

Because Cillian is dead.
And he’s been haunting the house for the last ten years.

Ella is the first person who can hear him—and the only one he’s ever been able to touch.

I'll leave it there, because you can probably imagine the delicious possibilities. Just know that by the end of chapter two, I was hooked.

Promise is a feel-good paranormal romance wrapped in a cozy mystery, layered with darker themes of grief and healing. I especially appreciated the way Leigh approached grief with tenderness and honesty. The characters acknowledge that it’s okay to cry, that grief has no timeline, and that healing often requires both a support system and professional help. It felt incredibly real and thoughtfully done.

As for the paranormal element—don’t overthink it. The hows and whys of Cillian’s ghostly existence aren’t fully explained, but honestly? That didn’t detract from the story at all. The heart of this novel is in its characters, its slow-burn intrigue, and the chemistry—which is intense, emotional, and incredibly steamy.

If you're looking for a romance that’ll make you smile, kick your feet, and maybe even shed a tear or two, look no further than Promise. Leigh Morgan’s debut is heartfelt, haunting, and absolutely charming. It’s a story that lingers long after the last page.

Promise. :)

ARC Review:
4.5 STARS
Wow. I finished Promise about an hour ago and I'm still processing.
The premise of the story is what got my attention; I wondered how or even if it could be written well. I went in looking for reality and plausibility. Leigh Morgan brought both.
I won't recap the story for you....you should just go ahead and read it. I want to brag on the writing.
Leigh Morgan says this is her first book....but I'll bet she's been writing since she was 9 or 10 years old. She wrote this like someone with an old soul. She made my heart hurt for Ella and Rone and Cillian. The pain each character feels just pours off the page.
If you've ever felt eyes on you when no one is around or felt a chill for no good reason or even felt that sense of peace come over you that you can't explain then this book is for you. If you ever wished for something that you thought was impossible then this book is for you. If you ever hoped for something so far fetched that you didn't feel like you could speak the wish out loud....this book is absolutely for you.
I could tell you about the spice and try to convince you not to think of the movie Ghost while reading...but I won't. The spice is delicious. Cillian only feels ghost-like when you let him feel that way. He's not walking through walls and howling and moaning. He's flirty and present and just precious.
Try not to think about how it's going to end, about whether or not it works out. Enjoy the moments in the page. Stay in the moment...it's totally worth it.
Leigh Morgan...thank you again sharing your heart with us. I, for one, will take good care of it....I promise.

If you like to cook with emotional damage, personal development, and spice, this book will be a meal for you 💕

Promise by Leigh Morgan made me so emotional.

It is a spice paranormal romance dealing with the grief and struggle of our main characters to navigate new feelings after terrible disasters. There is a subplot of mystery with a ghost twins.

Overall rating: 4/5 👻
Characters:👻👻👻👻
Atmosphere:👻👻👻👻
Plot:👻👻👻👻
Logic/Relationships:👻👻👻👻
Enjoyment:👻👻👻👻
Spice:🥵🥵🥵

We are following the life of Ella, our main character, who is dealing with the loss of her husband and unborn second child. Her story made me sob multiple times, and her description of loss was so overwhelming that I questioned if I should not dnf this book for the sake of how many tissues I would need. I loved her personality and devotion to her son, but her decision-making was sometimes too dramatic for my taste.

Our friendly ghost neigboar Cas... No, no, wrong book. Friendly ghost Cillian is just ... chefs kiss 💕🥵 Even though I usually do not prefer a golden retriever type of boyfriend, he is written fiiiiiine.

I want to say this book read so quickly. I read it in two days and just devoured it. Switching between sad and spicy feelings was sometimes too quick for me, and I needed more time to switch between such different emotions, but it did not take much from the book.

Overall, Promise is an emotional story about dealing with the grief of lost love and finding yourself with lavish romance and spice. I would recommend it to anyone who likes emotional rollercoasters.

This was such a beautiful and unexpected story from a debut author. Ella is the FMC who recently lost her husband and is moving to another state and town with her young son. Cillian is the former owner of the home that was killed tragically in a hit-and-run accident 10 years prior. Since his death, he has been stick in a limbo between life and death.

Slowly, Ella realizes that Cillian is there is isn’t a danger to her or her young son and instead begins to rely on him for comfort and support. As this is a romance book, obviously their relationship begins to flourish but the way Leigh intertwined such a deep emotional storyline into this story was so well done.

This story wasn’t just the story of their romance but seeing Ella fight back to herself to give the best possible life for herself and her son while living for her husband. The subplot between Cillian and the twins was the perfect thing to add depth tho this story. I genuinely cried reading this book and I was so overly invested in these characters.

This story is a beautiful delve into the logistics of navigating grief, love, and the unknown. It led al of the characters - not just the MCs - to open their minds and embrace change and the potential for growth and a better future.

The Easter eggs interspersed throughout this novel were so well done and when I found one, I would gasp and excitedly highlight passages left and right. I would absolutely read this story again because I am sure there is more that I missed. And I highly recommend picking this one up. What a great debut novel!

From beginning to end I was well and truly enraptured and consumed by this book.
There is something so captivating and forbidden about this story, but yet it just feels so damn right. The raw emotions that are portrayed throughout this book leaves you feeling every inch of emotion alongside the characters. This experience is intensified with the writer giving us the story through both Ella’s and Cillian’s eyes.

Can I get a Cillian? I just love his character he’s the ultimate book boyfriend. The chemistry between Cillian and Ella is off the charts and I was routing for them from the start. Not only the care, attention, protectiveness and playfulness they display towards one another, but also the comfort they offer each other through their own sorrow is phenomenal.

There is also another side to Cillian. Yes he has a naughty side and boy is it something else. He is seductive, possessive, commanding and the use of the words ‘good girl’, my goodness, he’s perfect. Oh and did I mention the dirty talk? I am definitely here for it. “Do you like it when I talk dirty to you, sweetheart?” “Did you taste yourself this morning on your lips? It was fucking heaven.”

Although this story has a different take on a relationship, it still manages to give you the connection and love for the characters. This book has me feeling all the emotions from crying, grieving, laughing, loving, full blown fear and panic and I can’t believe how quickly I can be a sobbing mess one minute, laughing and smirking the next only to be sent straight back to bawling.

Savour every minute and emotion this book makes you experience.
I certainly have.
It has made me cherish every moment, no matter how small with my husband and my children because you never know what life has in store for you.

Thank you Leigh for writing such an enthralling, beautiful and heartfelt story.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Gah, I wanted to love this so much. Sadly, it just fell completely flat. In a lot of ways.

After losing her husband, (not a spoiler) Ella moves to a new town in her dream house to start over. She soon comes to realize that there are ghosts in her house as well, and while one she is drawn to Cillian, he is well, dead.

To start, I strongly dislike reading the same scene from multiple POVs. ESPECIALLY when it's the next damn chapter. And there are several scenes where this happens.

The rules of the ghosts and who could touch who, do what, see who, was so confusing and made absolutely no sense at all. The side story of the twins was random, and felt it could have been skipped entirely.

I was hoping to be wowed with emotion and I wasn't feeling it. At all. The characters were not written well enough to invoke such emotion, at least from me. As a spicy book reader on a regular, it all felt wholly out of place for this story. And that is saying something coming from me.

All in all, not a great start to my 2025 reads.

I was thrilled to join the ARC team for this incredible book!

This story follows Ella as she navigates a journey of heartbreak, healing, and love after unimaginable loss. Leigh Morgan masterfully weaves together a wide range of emotions that draw readers into Ella and Cillian’s world with beautiful storytelling. I laughed, I cried (at least four times before hitting the halfway mark!), and yes, I even blushed during those spicy scenes. I was on an emotional rollercoaster and I was left deeply moved and happy with how things ended.

As a mom, I felt an instant connection to Ella. While I’ve thankfully never faced the kind of loss she endures, Leigh’s writing made her emotions so raw and relatable that I couldn’t help but feel her pain and triumphs. It’s been a long time since a book made me feel so deeply, and Promise was exactly what I needed to read and feel right now.

Thank you Leigh Morgan for this beautifully written story and Inkspire for giving me the chance to read it early! I can't wait for everyone to have a chance to read this and I'm so excited to see what this author does next.

I received an ARC of Promise by Leigh Morgan, and if you loved watching Demi and Patrick (RIP) in Ghost, this paranormal romance will hit you in the feels.

The story follows Ella, a grieving widow and single mom who decides to start fresh with her young son in a small town. They move into what seems like the perfect house, but it’s far from empty.

There are three ghosts, each with their own story. The first is Cillian, a man who owned the house ten years ago and has been lingering ever since, unable to move on. For reasons unknown, he’s never been able to communicate with anyone—until now.

Then, there are the twin girls, who add an eerie and suspenseful layer to the story.

Before even stepping into the house, Ella hears a whisper urging her not to enter, but she ignores it.

Now, if you take this book at face value, you’ll be screaming, “How do you just walk in when someone you can’t see whispers in your ear? GIRL, RUN!”

But, if you can get past that, you’ll be hooked on the rest.

That said, the romance does get steamy, with some fun dirty talk thrown in there. Mind you, she can’t see him, she can only feel him and hear him, making this unhinged in the best way possible.

Promise brought me to tears. Ella’s grief is raw and palpable, and it’s no surprise that my emotions got the best of me.

There are also flashbacks to her past with her late husband, and while their high school sweetheart romance might come off as a bit cheesy, I’m willing to forgive it.

Overall, Promise is a gripping, emotional, and fast-paced paranormal romance that will captivate fans of the genre.

If you enjoy stories with ghosts, grief, and unexpected romance, this one’s for you.

You can pick up a copy on January 4.

“In the books I read, I scream at the women doing just what I am. Run, scream, get away. Do anything but stand there. But I'm captivated by his presence. I want more, I want to be wanted again.”
This book was captivating. A great mix of contemporary romance and paranormal thriller. Recently widowed Ella tries to start anew with her son, and ends up finding a new home to settle down. As she’s moving into her dream house she begins to hear voices. It just so happens the house is haunted. As the new tenants they are the targets of a few haunting from the resident spirits. But will they go too far to get Ella to leave? My heart broke for Ella learning more and more for her story. Not only was I touched but so was Cillian, resident hunky spirit. He takes a liking to Ella and her son. He helps her heal through a particularly trying time. As their bond becomes stronger they struggle with figuring out how to let each other go when it’s time for him to move on.
Lovely story. I am so glad I was able to be an arc reader for this book!

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I think it was a little slow, kinda hard to get through. The overall plot line was like really interesting and I did want to continue reading the book. It just took me so long to get through the book because my attention wasn’t lasting as long as it does for other books. For this being one of my first arcs, I was slightly disappointed. But I think that if you’re more into the paranormal romance, which I am, but I needed more, I don’t know umph I guess. I rated this book of 3.5 because well I didn’t really love the book. I can see why people would read this book and I feel like a lot of people that are more paranormal romance readers and more into that genre. I feel like they would really like it.
I also feel like a lot of the quotes in this book were really good and I enjoyed them. I won’t put quotes or spoilers in this specific review. However, if you wanna see my rating and some of my favorite quotes, you can go to my Instagram @annalinns.library

Wow, what an amazing debut! Promise is a paranormal romance about a single mom who moves into her dream home only to find that it's haunted by ghosts that haven't been able to move on. Even though paranormal isn’t my go-to sub genre. I am so happy to have picked this up as this story was much more—finding love, family and purpose again. The chemistry between Ella and Cillian was top notch, the intimacy and low spice were well written, and the amount of emotion portrayed in ALL of the characters was off the charts! I enjoyed the story being told in first person PoV from both main characters, and the flashbacks provided even more depth to the storyline. Have your tissues handy for chapters 45 and 46-oh my word!…so emotional, so complex, so good! This book definitely made me feel all the things…congratulations to the author on an amazing debut. Thanks to the author and Inkspire for an advanced copy. 4.5 stars

“I know who you are, Ella Carter.”

I have never read a book like this and I thought, why not let’s try something new.

This book took me on a whirl wind of emotions.
It made me think about what I would do if I lost my husband and child.

Ella is so strong in this book.
I don’t know how she woke up every day but she did for her son, Rone.

I loved all the background on her and her late husband.
I loved how Ella and Cillian became to be.

Cillian is such a sweet soul and to finally finding something after 10 years of living in the in between was beautiful.

This story is about the unexpected and making room for those unexpected things into your heart after loss.

"Sometimes, when life gives you lemons. You just gotta tell it ... fuck off."

Ella is still grieving when she and her son move into her dream home looking for a fresh start. However they aren't alone, there are spirits in the house and some of them are not friendly. Cillian though is different, he's whispering in her ear, holding her close and making her feel again. Can you fall in love with a ghost?

Ella and Cillian work together to investigate past events, in an attempt to help troubled spirits move on, and it was an interesting element which also led to them learning more about each other. There is such beautiful romance, both past and present. The friendship that develops between Cillian and Ella's son Rone is lovely. The writing drew me right in and it wasn't long before I was laughing, crying, gasping and blushing. Who knew spicy times with a ghost could be so good? Because they were FLAME

Promise is Leigh's debut novel and it makes me really excited to read her future works. It was amazing, I really didn't want it to end.

This was my first paranormal (ghost) romance read, and it was beautifully done.

Ella and Cillian have such a special connection and I enjoyed how he protected her, was playful and continued to be a great guy even in the afterlife.

Ella for me had some great moments of strength but also, I don't know how good her therapist was to have her just talking through all the early ghost presentations and being like "sweet, someone made me tea" 🤣

For a Debut novel, I applaud Leigh Morgan. This was a very well written and suspenseful read with so much emotion to it. She definitely draws you in and makes you feel for her characters in unexpected ways.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read and share my thoughts!

My Latest Read with my husband is Promise. This one was a change of pace for us, as we haven’t read a paranormal romance together.

Though Promise is sad, it’s romantic as well. The characters are led by emotion, as they’re deeply affected by their pasts. The story follows single mom Ella as she relocates and rediscovers herself and Cillian as he finds love and meaning with Ella and her son.

The house and property Ella buys is just as much a character as the people in Promise. It breathes around them, a promise in itself: of home, of love, of rediscovering happiness.

Though it is a paranormal mystery with creepy bits, spicy bits, touching bits, and every day moments, in its essence, it’s a love story.

Firstly, I want to thank Inkspire Services and Leigh Morgan for the gifted ARC!

I rated this book a 4.5 and am rounding up to a 5 here since we can’t do half stars.

As soon as I heard about this book and saw the beautiful cover art I knew I had to read it. It came at the perfect time because I was feeling a major book slump but this book pulled me out of my slump so fast!

The mystery aspect was interesting. I loved the found family between Ella, Roan, and Cillian. It was so sweet. The spice was good! I really didn’t want the book to end and would have loved the ending to go on a little longer.

This book was Leigh’s debut novel and all I have to say is just wow. This is truly the best paranormal romance I have ever read. I loved the character development our main characters had and the fact that they both had their own individual growth. I really enjoyed being able to see both Cillian and Ella’s perspective of what was happening throughout the novel and that it never felt repetitive.

I loved how healthy their relationship was and how their communication skills always shined through when they had subjects they disagreed on.

This book is definitely one that I will think about quite often and most likely will end up rereading💖

I am a bit of a mood reader, so it did take me a while to pick this up, but damn was it worth it!🥰

I'm still wiping the tears off my face. It's such a beautiful story, It had everything I wanted. I had paranormal romance, Heartbreak, grief, healing and a little bit of spice. It was written really well, I loved the dual POV annd getting to see how both Ella and Cillian felt and saw things. The message about not having limits on our hearts and how we love people ❤️ was my favourite message from this book.

I loved the ending, it did not disappoint, it helped give me closure to this story.
I hope the afterlife is as beautiful as it sounds from this book.

Thank you for an ARC of this book!!

This book was a lot different than what I usually read, but it was good! It was a cute and sweet mesh of contemporary romance and paranormal romance. There was a little underlayer of horror, but I wouldn’t say this is a scary book at all.

I loved the journey the story took me on. I don’t read a lot of “sweet” or “cute” stories so it was a little change for me to get into, but I fell in love with the MMC and it was heartwarming to read the FMC’s journey of healing her grief.

There was definitely some great spice in this book too! So if you’re looking for a sweet, spicy but heartwarming read, I would give this a go.

Wow. Happiness, sadness, humour, hope... this story has it all. I was intrigued by the "deadish" status of the MMC and imagined a sweet romance in the style of Just Like Heaven. Yet this is so much more. This is a past love story entwined within a present, yet seeming futureless love story, entwined within a mystery that is sad, painful and haunting, literally. Past relationships weren't swept aside as irrelevant but a basis for the MMC's promises. The tear inducing moments were portrayed delicately, the love so natural, and the hope and healing absolutely beautiful. And this is a DEBUT. This author is going on my autobuys.
