FatedVerse #4

Knot All That Glitters: Part 1

Rate this book
“There you are, little mouse.”

The first time Hale Calloway calls me little mouse, he has no idea how right he is. I spend my life in the shadows, hiding who I truly am, skittering away to avoid attention.

From the outside no one would suspect Haven Bell, only daughter of Senator Frederick Bell, is nothing more than a puppet. I’m poised and polite, smile at the right times and only speak when spoken to. But most importantly, I don’t act like the omega I am. Not by choice.

My father’s political aspirations have pigeonholed him as an extremist. An alpha who wants to abolish the designations and have everyone live like No dominance instincts. No heats. No mating bonds or packs.

He holds me up as the ideal, an omega who has suppressed every instinct. Which I suppose I am, but only because he’s buried me under so many alpha commands I’ll never dig my way out.

When the Calloway pack approaches, intending to court me, I see a way out for the first time since I presented as an omega. If I can join a pack, my father will have no say over anything I do. I’ll be free.

As I spend time with the Calloway pack, I experience a life like I’ve never known before. I want them more than I’ve ever wanted anything. Still, I can’t help but feel that this bit of happiness will slip through my fingers along with everything else good in my life.

Hale, Creed, Atticus and Jude seem too good to be true. And if I’ve learned anything in this life, it’s if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

After all, not all that glitters is gold.

Knot All That Glitters is a 115k+, why choose? novel, set in the Omegaverse. The FMC is a broken omega looking for a safe place. This is part 1 of 2 and ends on a little cliffhanger. There is a guaranteed HEA in book 2.

This is the fourth book of the FatedVerse Series, but can be read on its own.

Non-con Bully Book

From the very beginning, this pack chooses to do evil to the FMC. Deliberately using degrading terms for her (sl*t, wh*re) intended to ruin her self esteem & reputation when they release the non-con revenge p*rn they made. Then continuing to use them after "changing their minds" about destroying her, proves that none of them respect her at all. There is absolutely no justification or excuse for them choosing to be evil to an innocent- and yet I'm willing to very she ends up with the abusive pieces of garbage. Good job, Tana Rose, you are now an official contributing member of our current r*pe culture.

This book has a terrible view on this relationship that I can't bring myself to finish. These Alphas are recording her during sex without her knowledge drugging her to be more sensitive and wanting, but still there to use her against her father. The worst part is that they created this plan 9 years ago when fmc is 12 and they are well into there 20s. I feel bad for the girl and the main males make me sick. It's also bad that the have a backup plan for revenge that could have happened even easier but they feel the need to use this girl giving her hope of being loved and getting away from her abusive father/ household.

Well, I didn’t like this one as much because of the pack. Haven is a sweet little omega who has put up with so much abuse. Her father 😖 😡. And the pack hasn’t done enough to win me over. I did’t really feel any connection between them, even though the author says their bond is strained. I didn’t feel much connection to Haven either though.

Hopefully they can do right by our girl in book 2. Gotta say though, this book seemed unnecessarily long. I skipped a lot of the smut at the end because it was too much 🙄. I’m gonna guess this could have been one book instead of a duet.

wrong one

I unfortunately downloaded the wrong knot all that glitters as their is another one by a different author. So I was obviously not expecting this horrible storyline, the guys are horrible using her and taking recordings of her to blackmail her father. It’s heartbreaking.

I liked the story itself (abused daughter of a senator escapes his hold with the aid of men who might love her), but the characters were all just awful.

FMC has no personality other than tortured girl/sex addict. The MMCs were all awful people. Creed was semi-okay, but he still let the others run their shitty game and lied to her. And with how shitty they all were to her, the derogatory language they were using during sex scenes was off-putting.

The MMC’s drug the FMC daily with ‘vitamins’ to lower her inhibitions and induce her heat. They make a game out of using her with a spreadsheet depicting each pack members ‘points’. They film her non consensually during intimate moments that they intend to release publicly to destroy her father.

They lie and manipulate her until they figure out she’s nothing like her bigoted father and that he’s been abusing her and controlling her for her entire life.
They come to regret their plan, leading them to forego it. Except Haven finds the aforementioned spreadsheet.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, the atrocities the MMC’s committed against the FMC is irredeemable, I didn’t find literally any of the characters likeable, even Haven, the writing was bad, there was too much smut. I got so bored half way through, I had to force myself to finish it and I only did because I thought the angst would be worth it, but it wasn’t.

I contemplated if I should even bother with the second but after reading the reviews, it gets even worse.

These characters!!!

I was so confused by the alphas of the Calloway pack. They are the worst and yet not. I understood their little revenge plan but the cruelness that lingered in so many of their actions. And why was Jude such a creep?? I mean, I don't kink shame but consent is super important and he just didn't respect it at all as he recorded things. The book is good and I'm looking forward to part 2 but I don't know if our alpha heroes are what I want to see for poor Haven. Maybe I'd keep Creed.

Story 2.25⭐️
So I was angry pretty much the whole first book of this duet. The ONLY reason I read the second book was to see how much groveling was done. I was very disappointed. There are also tons of grammar mistakes and inconsistencies.

i wanted this to feel like pack darling. not exactly the same, obviously, but a duet featuring a betrayal and then ending with safety and protection and guilt and love and whatever? as much as the logical part of my brain recognizes that these stories are incredibly flawed and requires the reader to want to forgive atrocities that no one in their right mind would forgive, i still tend to get easily sucked into these kinds of books.

this one is rough though. the guys are cruel and mean, and obviously that’s where most of the blame should go, but also haven is an idiot.

she decides to spend a week alone with four strangers who she herself admits that she’s probably only spent a cumulative 4 hours with. not only that, but she also has reason right from the beginning to believe that they only want her to get to her father in some way or another, but she still makes her best friend take her there. and her best friend even basically says that this is stupid and dangerous and she gets all shitty about how she knows everything will be fine. which doesn’t make me feel bad for her. it makes me angry at her. i wish the women in these books could have even one singular brain cell.

honestly i found haven’s abusive father to be a more interesting plot element and i think delving into more of her background and the loss of her mother and the rise of her father’s political power would be more interesting than 80% of the sex in this book.

that’s another complaint, there’s far too much sex in this book because haven has approximately three personality traits: sad, horny, dumb. that’s about it.

and again, the fact that these guys are using her for some decade old revenge that we don’t even get to fully understand is incredibly annoying, but at least they have some sort of driving motivation behind their actions.

i’ll read the second one because i hate leaving duets unfinished but i hope to god haven gets smarter in the next one because i cannot watch her accept obvious lies and call herself a “sweet slut” any more times. this was enough.

**Review shared for duet**

Last chance. I pretty much give away the whole plot so don't read this if you hate spoilers. (I don't which is why I include them so people can decide for themselves if they still want to give it a try.)

Seriously.. I give away pretty much all the important parts..

Okay..

I had high hopes for this duo... but honestly I only finished it because I was on vacation with no internet and nothing else to read...

Essentially the guys are using the fmc to get revenge on her father with absolutely no consideration to how their revenge will effect her. The revenge you ask? Seducing her, record her begging for them (iykyk) and then releasing it to the press. This doesn't end up happening obviously but it's still going on well into the second book...

I wish I could say that was the worst thing they did.. But that is saved for the fact that they pretty much almost killed her by drugging her so that she would be insatiable and have more sex with them.

Creed was better but still didn't protect her so fuck him honestly.

The guys are literally deluding themselves into thinking she is just as bad as her father even though she proves to them over and over again that she is nothing like him. Even when one of them tries to tell them maybe she isn't what she seems... "If she's a puppet all the better. It'll be easier to make her dance to our tune, ot have her give us what we want." pg. 46 book one.

Their bond ends up feeling very forced in the end which left me disappointed.

What absolutely RUINED the duo for me is what happened to Ren. Completely unnecessary. They KNEW she was in danger gave her "protection" that literally failed... They didn't try hard enough to protect her in my opinion. She deserved so much better.

A fantastic first book in a duet!

We are left with a cliffhanger at the end of book one, just so you are warned!

It’s an interesting dynamic between our MCs as the circumstances surrounding their relationship doesn’t come from the best place. The secrets that each one of them is keeping makes that any growth is surrounded by lies. The multiPOV makes everything so much more heartbreaking and frustrating when you have this core knowledge of what they’re keeping from each other.

The FMC is battling many hard elements in this book and I think she’s doing exceptionally well in her strength. We get a lot of her backstory along with a lot of wonderful growth, yet she still faces more pain that she must survive through. There are many unknowns in her future and I can’t wait to see the path she takes to over come those struggles and get a HEA.

All the MMCs are driven by one defining event, and yet their reactions and how each of them come to terms with it concerning their plan varies. I like that they’re each given their own space to grow, but I would have liked to know a little more about their pasts overall, hopefully we’ll get that in the next book.

I NEED to know what happens next so I’ll be jumping straight into the second part of this duet!

The editing was TERRIBLE. And the long internal monologues veered off topic so much to the point where I would forget what the dialogue that prompted it even said.

Aside from that, fuck those guys. Jude is supposed to be the funny and hyperactive one but he just comes off as an insincere and creepy dickhead.

The prime alpha whateverthefuckhisnameis is an all around piece of shit and closest to her father in terms of how bad he is.

Tic was just there being an unnecessary lump on a log with no redeeming qualities and several bad ones.

Creed was the only forgivable one and the only reason this book got a second star from me. Still, he could’ve done more.

And look, I’m all for reading degradation but it takes on a whole new meaning when they’re noncon filming and drugging her. Atp, it’s not hot. It’s sickening.

They crossed too many lines. I will unfortunately be reading (skimming) the next one to find out what happens.

One star off for the cliffhanger. Romance novels have one rule: Happily Ever After. Cliffhangers are pure laziness on an author’s part, when done to tear the couple (or, in this case, pack) apart for a second book. If you’re a good enough author and you tell a decent story, readers will come back. No gimmicks needed. Just look at Lola and the Millionaires - it’s a two parter, and the story continues, but doesn’t need to pull a lame final act breakup to get readers back for part two. One of the many reasons Lola is the gold standard for omegaverse.

Two stars off for absolutely atrocious grammar. I lost track of the number of typos, comma splices, and even misspelling of character names. It was ridiculous.

I felt like I was reading a first draft, which is a shame, because the story was actually good. Editors are not just a suggestion - they are a necessity.

I’m in my bully romance era and this was not it.

I need my MMCs to commit. Either you are a bully and you act like it, or you are a bully and have a complete change of heart and stop bullying. These MMCs tried to straddle the line, acting wishy washy. They’d bully her, then have some regret as question if it’s right, and then go back to bullying. I could see this tactic if it showed growth in the characters but it didn’t. So it came off as wishy washy.

The MMCs actions weren’t redeemable to me. And after about 60% I skipped to the end just to when the FMC found out their devious plans. I couldn’t take any of their affection seriously or trust it because they never came clean to her. So after they “came to heaven”, I just didn’t care to read anymore.

I won’t be reading book 2. I read the reviews and it doesn’t sound like it gets better. Blegh. Disappointing.

FMC, omega, Haven is controlled by her dad's barked directives. He's a senator, proponent of no designations. Even though he's an alpha using alpha stuff to control his omega daughter. 😐

Pack seeking revenge on him, for something to do with an omega friend - potential - mate, when they were late teens, and she died. Cooks up this big plan to ruin her bc her dad loves her. 😐

Except they all fall for each other. But then she accidentally finds out about their plan. And runs off. And goes into heat. 😐

And stupid MF curtain on this one.

I waited the whole first part to when Haven found out!!

The Calloway pack are so sure of the revenge plan they put in play. It's only Creed that realises from interacting with Haven that there is more to her than what she shows to the world on her father's campaign. Creed is well aware that the plan will come back to bite them and bite them it does.

I must say I spent most of this first part of the duet waiting for when everything comes to light.

I realise part 2 will have the grovelling and HEA, but I'm struggling with the idea of continuing with the duet.

Knot All That Glitters Part One was so good!

Knot All That Glitters, Part One, book 4 of the FatedVerse series, by Tana Rose. @tanaroseauthor is an author that I am enjoying. This book has some editing issues & definitely should be reviewed.

What a wild ride for Haven, Hale, Creed, Atticus & Jude!Tropes: Contemporary, Omegaverse, Reverse Harem Without MM, Father Issues, Golden Retriever MMC, Alphahole MMC, Marshmallow Grumpy MMC, Analystical/Scientist MMC, Pack Fake Dating/Falling For The Onega, & A Brutal Cliffhanger!

I knew this would end on a cliffhanger, and I knew it wouldn’t be a cute pause between books- but it still had me tearing up at 1am.

I knew how this would go, and I still kept reading, kept hoping the MMCs would pull their shit together and not ruin an already broken woman. Alas…

I’ll wait for the next installment, where I can only hope that Haven finds her peace with her abuser(s) and the Calloway pack figures a way to win her heart.

I will admit that I scanned a lot of this book. I just wasn't really into the MMCs using her the way they did and making her insecurities and her freedom a game, even if they had a change of heart. I don't care about his excuse. The fact that Jude ran to update the scoresheet right after they were intimate in the end shows that. The compulsion/recordkeeping for personal issues was a flimsy excuse. I'm going to continue to book 2 because I can't see how they can come back from this.

Warnings

These stories are gripping and keep you coming back to them; however the series REALLY needs a proof reader to fix all the grammar errors. There is a glimpse of the Falcone pack, however this book has all new characters. Haven is a controlled omega, and the Calloway pack has an agenda. There is a cliff hanger since this is book 1.

Argh cliffhanger!!

This was pretty great. The storytelling is fantastic and I enjoy the characters and their developments so far. I look forward to seeing how they grow more in the second book. There are plenty of plot lines that I hope to see concluded too.

There are a number of proofreading errors that got annoying but didn’t stop me enjoying the story.

Heartbreaking Story 4.5

This is definitely my kind of story. Drama, angst, sweet but not too sweet. I was rooting for Creed the whole time until I found out he wasn't as upset about the video as he made it out to be. I can't wait to dive into part 2. There had better be some MAJOR groveling. All in all, aside from some typos or missing words, it was a great, enjoyable story.

I really enjoyed this book and it was really well written. The men annoyed me ALOT. I wanted to slap them repeatedly. They were redeemable and the story did a fine job or redeeming them and having them make it up to the FMC. I wish there had been a lot more grovel though. I wish the FMC had left their house, lived life independently for a bit, met some other packs. All while the MMCs suffered and groveling on their hands and knees to win her back.

I still enjoyed the book and overall I was happy they ended up together. I’m looking forward to the next book for Ren’s story.

Note, spicy book!

2.5 stars as of May 2025 on first reading.
Enjoyed the setting but felt the fall for the guys was too quick and easy for someone who has gone through that level of rejection and emotional abuse.

Warning, I'm a huge re-reader of books thus my feelings on them can change over time. Any future re-read opinions will be captured below.

I’m trying to figure out why so many authors associate sexual assault with romance. Revenge porn and drugging a woman IS sexual assault.
I’m getting so sick of this shit. No amount of groveling (which I’m sure if her previous books are anything to go by, the groveling, will be shit) makes any of that okay.

good story but …

Story and character development is good but the editing is not. Too many grammatical errors; usually I can breeze past most errors but some of them were glaring and I had to reread parts over to understand the context.
