Frankly, I am surprised that this book has an average rating of only 3 stars. Is the unfamiliarity with the background setting, which is a popular mobile game, causing that? Descriptions of the King of Glory's game mechanics and characters confused me at first, and I had to switch tabs to search for characters to understand their gameplay and the tactics being talked about in the book. But I learned soon enough that that took away from my enjoying the delicious sweet red bean soup story. So, I just read through the narrations of the King of Glory MOBA, thus I enjoyed the story more. The characters, for me, were endearing, especially Ji Xingchen. He has had a challenging life, from being a rich young master to someone living from paycheck to paycheck, streaming his games to make ends meet. He meets a mysterious and very generous benefactor, who showered his stream room with gifts. And from there, they forged a connection that would eventually transcend the MOBA's boundaries. I'll stop there, because any more and I might end up typing spoilers. If you are looking for a feel-good, fluffy danmei after reading heavy stories, you gotta give this a go.
